Highlights

Sometimes, great customer experience is much more than the taste of the food. We want you to enjoy both of them here. Excellent customer experience is the foundation of our success. It's what sets we apart from the plethora of competitors and what drives loyalty with our customers. Especially in a restaurant setting, going above and beyond in delivering a superior customer experience can really differentiate us. In most cases, a customer goes to a restaurant with convenience and indulgence in mind. To them, it's an experience where they can stray away from cooking and mingle with friends and family. Therefore, our restaurant should be organizing operations and conducting service with the customer and convenience in mind.

"Beijing Duck is showcased in fine fashion and three full courses at this casual Midtown restaurant. First, sliced meat with crispy skin is presented with bao, pickled daikon and carrot, and sweet hoisin sauce; followed by a second course with a stir-fry made with thigh and leg meat. Finally, the last course offers a soul-warming soup using the bones." - Megha McSwain

Google
Just ate here for the first time and will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere is great and the aroma that hits you when you walk in had my mouth watering. Everything I ate was stellar but I highly suggest ordering the soup dumplings and sichuan chili beef. And to top it all off our service from Kim was phenomenal, she really went above and beyond and made our meal memorable. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't.

Kelly Kim

Google
Great food, great staff. Kim is really nice. 3 pepper chicken and stir fried green beans are a must! Awesome food at a really good price!!!

Tony Sanchez

Google
Some friends sent us your way and we were not disappointed! Food was great and our server Kim was even better! Very happy go lucky, she definitely made the experience all the better!! We will return and promote the business!

Ana Jimenez

Google
Food was amazing. Definitely 10/10 Thank you Ms. Kim for your amazing service and for making us laugh so much. Oh & don’t forget to try the krispy bottom bao, they were delicious.

Travis Kochsmeier

Google
The food is always amazing, fresh, and they bring it to you as soon as it's ready! If you get a chance, have Kim be your server. She always checks in on you and has a great conversation. My husband and eat two to three times a month and we love coming here. Always get something new each time we come. Great place for dumplings. It is a must try in Midtown!

Amanda Scott

Google
Food and service were both excellent! Ate the spicy cucumber salad and spicy dumplings too fast to take a pic, but here are photos of the 3 flavor pepper chicken (dry fried) and general tso’s tofu, which were both incredible. Will be back!

Cecilia Wang

Google
The Peking duck here is to die for, period. Portions are huge, I had leftovers for quite a few meals, reheat in air fryer, every single time it still tasted amazing. I also like their fluffy bun better than the usual pancake style. Service was so warm, chef greeted everyone, they were playing Dua Lipa, doesn’t get more perfect than this, absolutely check out the place if you’re in the area. Walnut shrimp pretty meh tho.

Carrie Colley

Google
Spicy Girl is definitely a one of a kind experience!! Food is amazing, so is the service! Service is legit! We missed Kim this time but will see her again. Her neice was our server and she was amazing to us!! She was very attentive and welcoming. Portions are bigger than we expected! Amazing Sake Bombs for the win. Foodie Approved

Josiah A.

Yelp
Kim was an amazing server! Excellent service, gave awesome recommendations and wrapped everything up for us when it was time to go. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. Thank you Kim!

Jazlyn T.

Yelp
Go see my girl, Miss Kim! Everyone in the reviews mentioning her is so real, she takes care of you and just radiates sweet energy making it such a great experience to dine here! We love getting the spicy noodles & spicy chicken cube here amongst other things on the menu. This is our go to spot when we are craving some real good authentic Szechuan in downtown Houston If you can't find street parking, park in the garage and they'll validate it for you!

Callie H.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for the dry pot with chicken! It's spicy! I would be sure to tell them to hold the peppercorns, but not the spice. I ate it before I thought about a picture. It's parking on the street if your lucky ir in the garage behind it. Always very friendly and they have really good jasmine tea. Also good saki. Casual Asian vibe to the decor with TV's.

Jasmine N.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I are obsessed with coming here. Not only for the food and service but the ambiance as well We enjoyed being served by Miss Kim. She's such a sweet soul and truly knows how to make you feel special. We enjoy the happy hour from 11a to 5pm EVERYDAY! Every food option is delicious. You can even switch up the spiciness of each dish, so you're not forced to be spicy (although being spicy here is a good thing). Just overall great experience here. Also, free garage parking - just ask to get your ticket validated and tell the security to let you out

Ruby D.

Yelp
Standard sichuan style Chinese food option in my area! I had never been here but pass it almost every day. We came after a long flight and were starving. I feel like we ordered the entire menu. It was quiet here for a Monday night, no tables other than us but lots of to go orders. The waitress was SO SO SO nice and did everything she could to be accommodating to us. We ended up learning she was Vietnamese too so we had a little connection between us. Wish I knew her name but I'd love to go back and see her. Angel lady

Lee A. S.

Yelp
The restaurant is located in the midtown area. I ordered to go and it was difficult to find parking during brunch hours. Inside the restaurant it's nice, clean, with a nice Asian-themed decor. I was greeted as soon as I entered in. Food was ready rather quickly. The three flavor chicken was really delicious. It had flavors that I never tasted before. The cucumber salad is great for a light snack. The food was tied tight in a bag. When I got home I realized there were no condiments included. Good thing I had my own soy sauce at home. I would try it again. Next time I will be sure to ask for the condiments instead of assuming it's already in the bag.

Marilyn V.

Yelp
Everything I got here was really good! ! Great flavor and spice. I would love to go back and try some new things!

Clara H.

Yelp
Delicious unique Sichuan spot in midtown with authentic options for everyone. Definitely worth the price for the type of food you're getting and portion size. Each dish can feed at least two people. We had lots of variety, but my favorites were the Beijing Duck, the 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken, and the Eggplant dish. Service is good, and the ambiance is nice. Would recommend for a family style dinner outing!

Kira L.

Yelp
Food - here's my takeout reviews again! The pork with garlic sauce maintains its unique flavor but the fish on tofu just appears to be in a bowl of mala spicy broth. The fish itself also tastes less fresh with a little bit of fishiness smell to it. Service - fast, my delivery was ready in like 10 minute Ambiance - casual clean indoor vibes when I was there in person

Teresa R.

Yelp
Some food was really good while other dishes were okay. The food was prepared fast. I ordered rice because the menu was not clear that rice came with the dish. So I ended up with more rice than I needed.

Christian C.

Yelp
We were excited to eat somewhere good in Houston on our way back home from Galveston and decided on Spicy Girl. Reviews and YouTube videos convinced us on giving them a shot. We ordered a bunch of stuff including the Dan Dan Noodles, Hot Spicy Noodles, Shu Mai, Pork Bao, Crispy Bottom Bao, Mapo Tofu, and Orange Chicken. Definitely wasn't impressed, but had a feeling that we'd be eating some average Chinese food in a more hipster looking environment. The flavor was lacking, especially with the Bao dishes. A couple dishes that stood out were the Dan Dan noodles and the Shu Mai. Everything else was pretty bland and underwhelming. I must say that the pricing was fair, considering that this is in the downtown area. We ordered a BUNCH of food for our family of 3 and the tab came out to about $70 before tip. The biggest star of the show was the service. Our server was very attentive, kind, and hospitable. I would probably recommend coming for lunch during the week since they have some decent specials.

Kyla F.

Yelp
This was a fun experience! I would give the service a 5/5 for sure. We had Kim, and she was SO much fun, and made us feel SO welcome. She is hilarious and so kind! I would give the food a 4/5. It was good and tasted very fresh! I had the dry pot and it was definitely spicy but had a good flavor. The egg rolls weren't the best I've had, but we're still good! The ambiance of the place is pretty casual, but it is still nice in there. Parking can be difficult, we ended up having to street park. Overall- I'd recommend giving this place a try! I plan to be back.

Christina W.

Yelp
They are open on Mondays! So many different options and the servings are super big. The staff/owners are so sweet and ever us everytime!

Marilyn C.

Yelp
This was a tasty treat. We had ordered the Singapore fried noodles, fried spicy chicken, and fried string beans. The noodles and the beans were quite salty though. The fried chicken was delicious and had a great presentation. It was challenging to find a parking spot but was able to find one on the street. It is metered parking through the app and is much more reasonable than paying at the structure. The service was excellent and the ambiance was nice and cozy.

Quonesha J.

Yelp
Order the amazing spicy fish, edammane, and bok choy, along with white rice. This is my first time trying the fish, and I'm glad I did. The spicy wasn't lying. I recommend getting some type of sauce because this fish doesn't come with any.

Sydney K.

Yelp
This place is a total gem! The food is amazing, the portions are solid for the prices, and the wait staff are on top of drinks and making sure everything is ok. My family and I liked the dry hot pot the best out of all 3 dishes, the intestines really brought the dish to another level of savory and spicy. Their hot chili oil on the side of the table is also REALLY good, it'll leave a tingling feeling that packs the perfect punch. I'll definitely be making this a regular in my weekly routine!!

Hannah A.

Yelp
"Life changing" were the first words out of my husbands mouth when he took his first bite of this delicious duck! We ordered the three course duck between the two of us and it was more than enough food for multiple meals. We also ordered the green beans which came out quickly and were absolutely delicious. The service was nice, quick, and the ambiance was relaxing.

Kae H.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best dumplings in Houston! Lots of favor and mild heat. Not a great option if you have a nut allergy but if you don't I'd say 10/10

Cassie S.

Yelp
Delicious hidden gem. I got the spicy cubed chicken lunch special and have no regrets. I also highly recommend the hot and spicy soup. Everything had lots of flavor. The service was also fantastic-everybody was super friendly.

La'Tara V.

Yelp
This place was a very nice find! I had a last minute small group of hungry people (8) that wanted to grab a bite after a theater production. It is conveniently located walking distance from the historic Ensemble Theater ( 200 feet) and they validate your parking in the attached garage next to them! They quickly accommodated our party in a very comfortable space, our drinks, appetizers and entrees all came out unbelievably fast, nicely presented, impressively accurate and what I love the most- the taste , as well as the portion size was fantastic. They are clearly used to and well prepared for larger groups, I did not even have to ask them for separate checks... they understood the assignment!!! I will have to make this a regular when in the area!!

Damaris D.

Yelp
I was very pleasantly surprised by this place food is delicious! Got combo friend rice, mango chicken is tangy flavored delicious and their hot and sour soup tasted very good and it's a big portion. Ambiance is quiet and you can have a conversation, very relax. Service is good and the people working there are very nice.

Nhi N.

Yelp
DELICIOUS Szechuan food!! GREAT Service!! Such friendly staff! Everything ordered came out fast and was sooo good!! Cute, little place downtown! Parking can be tricky but there's a parking garage that the restaurant will validate for you!

Larada H.

Yelp
Kim , the waitress, welcomed us & entertained us. The Walnut Shrimp had a delicious batter& their lunch special was a great price. A great place to visit.

Lisette H.

Yelp
Food was delicious, staff were friendly and we got our food within 15 minutes! It was affordable , and family friendly.

Lynn M.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Egg rolls: this was crispy and fresh Hot and spicy noodles: this had a good kick and is great for a cold night Chicken fried rice; this was okay added chili oil to give it a little kick Amazing spicy fish: very salty I would pass on this next time

Robert C.

Yelp
Went here with a large group for lunch and they accommodated us no problem. Even gave us all separate checks. Food was the perfect amount for lunch and very reasonable price. I liked the options they had in the box. Everything was tasty. Would go back.

David C.

Yelp
Spicy Girl was surprisingly very good!! Our expectations weren't high only because we're used to more traditional Chinese places in Bellaire, but this place definitely lives up to the name in their food. We asked for everything to be extra spicy, and they did not disappoint! We ordered their yu shan eggplant, beef flat noodles, and general tso's chicken. Everything was made to order fresh, came out piping hot, and full of flavor. The eggplant I think was everyone's favorite dish overall. What really made this place stand out though, was their service! I don't remember the name of the older Chinese lady taking care of us, but she was incredibly sweet and attentive. She made it feel like we were in her own home and she was cooking for us. I would come back simply for how warm and inviting the service was. Overall Spicy Girl did not disappoint! The prices are slightly higher that some of the other Chinese places we go to, but you can expect that based on their location in midtown Houston. We'll be back again soon! Side note: They do validate your parking if you park in the parking garage.

Henry Y.

Yelp
Spicy Girl is a good effort at bring Sichuan food in Midtown. We were hankering for a hot & sour soup, which was just the soup of our childhoods. And of course with any Sichuan place worth its salt, I had to order the spicy boiled fish. Flavor-wise it was right on point, lots of chiles, peppercorns. And at the right price! I was a little disappointed by the 3 flavor pepper chicken. The spice was there but I thought there was too much batter and not enough chicken, it ended up just feeling very bready texture-wise. Overall, definitely a good Sichuan place if you're looking to not feel your tongue in Midtown.

Brittney C.

Yelp
Not gonna lie, when I first moved to Houston I had duck from the menu and it turned me off from never going back.... Well yesterday I was starving and its just a skip from home so I went in...Kim was my server and she has the most amazing personality - bigger than the restaurant! Edamame was on point! Spicy Garlic was the best I've had ever! and I had a mango milk tea (well a couple because they were fire) My only thing, I feel like the rice should be fried harder, just me and my preference but I'll be back to try dumplings etc

Shelley F.

Yelp
They weren't kidding with the name Spicy Girl! This place isn't for the faint of heart. I placed an order online for to go and the food was prepared quickly and packed neatly. The food came with rice. Sichuan food is known for its spiciness, but Spicy Girl takes it up several notches. The 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken is Laziji but with jalapeños, dried chili peppers, and Sichuan peppercorns. I was eating it like finger food (big mistake), and I'm pretty sure the triple combination of peppers gave me a gnarly rash on my skjn. While it was good, it doesn't beat the traditional way Laziji is prepared. More spice is not always better. I also had the Sichuan angus steak, which was flavored well and the meat was tender. Again, very spicy, but I liked it a lot. Overall, I liked everything that I ordered, but I still prefer the Sichuan restaurants from my hometown.

Shannon L.

Yelp
Spicy Girl you rock my world Umami explosion My face melts off Grateful for rice Stay the coarse Mapo style heaven I love you Ordered from grub hub so no commentary on the restaurant. Good pricing!

Christie P.

Yelp
Spicy Girl in Houston is a flavor fiesta you don't want to miss! This spot has quickly become my go-to for a spicy culinary adventure, and it never disappoints. The menu is a celebration of bold and vibrant flavors. From the Sichuan classics to creative twists, each dish packs a punch. The spice levels are legit - perfect for those who love a fiery kick in their meals. The lively ambiance adds to the dining experience, making it a great place for a casual meal with friends or a spicy date night. The staff is attentive and friendly, ensuring you have a fantastic time. Portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Spicy Girl is a spicy sensation in Houston, delivering on authenticity and taste. If you're a fan of bold flavors, this place is a must-try!

Yorjelis J.

Yelp
Everything was delicious!!! Can't wait to come back! The waitresses were the cutest and so attentive and sweet!

Steph H.

Yelp
* Food: The food was fairly good. My personal favorite was the Siu mai, pork w/ garlic sauce, and hot sour soup. The xaio long bao tasted ok but I wouldn't come back and order it again. The steamed garlic bacon was an interesting appetizer but it just wasn't my favorite and had an odd taste. I do think their lunch special is a great option if you're wanting to try this place. * Place/ Atmosphere: It's a cute Chinese restaurant. The place is clean and kept up to date. It's a spacious place and great to eat out with friends. Also parking is kind of hard to find. * Service: The service was great and our waitress did an amazing job making sure we were taken care of.

Richard O.

Yelp
Had the chili beef and the pepper chicken. It was as tasty as always Kim was amazing! Thank you Kim

Megan V.

Yelp
This is going to be my new spot for Chinese food!!! My best friend and I came in on a weekday for dinner, and it wasn't crowded at all. It seems like they do more take-out orders than dine-in. The restaurant was super cozy and our server was so attentive. She checked in on us very often and seemed to know what we needed without us even having to ask! I do think parking is sparse, but that's an issue for another time. We got the walnut shrimp, Beijing duck (with 2 courses), and since we spent over $50 they threw in soup dumplings. The shrimp was perfect! Crispy, sweet, smothered in mayo. I do wish the walnuts had some crunch to them since they tasted a little stale to me. The first course of the Beijing duck was the duck, bao buns, chives, cucumber, and the hoisin. The second course was a spicy duck stir fry. Honestly it was such a good deal considering we had leftovers for two days. The duck was also very tender and juicy. The soup dumplings were good. Nothing spectacular, but we also got them for free so no complaints either! I'm excited to try more here!

Xoxi M.

Yelp
Great authentic Szechuan! Wonderful cucumber garlic salad. I loved the green curry and had the best orange chicken I have ever tasted. Service was outstanding!! Parking is tricky, but totally worth it. Their taro milk tea is divine.

Ted F.

Yelp
3.5 stars Reasonably good Szechuan food, friendly service. Like the red oil dumplings, B+ bamboo flounder (needs cilantro). We got served shumai that were still frozen in the middle, though, which is a bad tell. They were apologetic and let us cancel the order. They validate parking, which is nice.

Daylin V.

Yelp
The food looked great but it looks better than it taste. Overall, it was very bland Bao - too doughy. Meat inside had a overpowering flavor. Kung pao- used dark meat chicken that was kind of chewy. Fried rice- best thing that i got.

Joe S.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious, parking is HELL and the dining room is small. It's worth it though. 3 pepper chicken is addictive!

Joseph D.

Yelp
Food was superb! Host and service was awesome! It had the right amount of fanciness and culture to make you feel happy to dine there. They validate your parking ticket too!

Erini N.

Yelp
The portion and spice level were great. But the dish was dripping in oil, to the point that it was way too heavy to eat. You don't order Chinese food on a night when you feel like eating healthy food, but this had meat swimming in oil. Misses the mark sadly.

Brittne K.

Yelp
Highly recommend! We definitely will be back. The food was super good and flavorful and the service was amazing. Very cozy vibes as well.

Stephanie E.

Yelp
My granddaughter and I had a lovely lunch here today--we wanted to try several new dishes and our server was very helpful in choosing. My granddaughter was set on barbecue pork buns and she thought these were the best she'd had. We also got succulent soup dumplings and spicy pork dumplings and spicy edamame. Everything was delicious.

Michelle L.

Yelp
This place was wonderful! My husband is a HUGE fan of authentic Szechuan food and always makes a to-do of finding pepper chicken (Chongqing chicken) and comparing it across places. I'm admittedly a bit of a wimp when it comes to Szechuan peppercorns, but the 3 Flavor Pepper Chicken here is probably my favorite iteration of the ones we've tried in Houston. The chicken was fried absolutely perfectly and had a wonderful flavor. I got the salt and pepper fish and OMG. I wanted to eat every single morsel. The fish was crispy and flavorful. There were also fried garlic pieces in the dish and I think that they were the best pieces of fried garlic I've ever had. I'm not a huge cilantro fan, but it did not stop me from gobbling this up. Plus, our server said that it was her favorite dish on the menu. The service was excellent and the food came out quickly. The servers topped us off with water several times throughout our meal. The ambiance was casual and comfortable. I'd be down to come here for lunch, dinner with close friends, and even a casual date night. There's a cool mural inside. Overall, much more comfortable coming here on a more casual basis than say, Mala, which I'd save for nights when I want to get a bit dressier. Gotta say that I like the food better here, though

Sidney L.

Yelp
I love this place. If you choose to, you can have authentic Chinese food and it is excellent. The service is great yeah ambience is good. The price is very fair. I've ordered online. The food is hot and delicious when it gets to eat. Although I would rather go there.

Chris M.

Yelp
Wish I could of liked you more, crispy baos were tough and felt like eating air, lot of gap inside. Shu mai weren't flavorful. And lastly rip that $7 chocolate cake photo off menu, misleading! Update it. What I got instead was sad gas station brownies, what a ripoff

Nana L.

Yelp
loved Taiwan beef noodle soup , and the beef pancake. For spicy lovers recommendation is three flavored paper chicken , yummy . The servers is so friendly., definitely be back

Nate C.

Yelp
Excellent food. Excellent service. They validate parking in the adjacent garage. I love this restaurant.
