"While dark gray exterior paint and a fenced-in front patio aren’t the most welcoming sights as you pull into this Cascade restaurant, you’re rewarded with bright Marley art, faux plant walls, and chill vibes inside the Caribbean-leaning eatery. If you’re coming for dinner, the mood can be bouncy (live music on Fridays), so pair the crispy jerk chicken egg rolls with a Purple Haze (gin, St. Germain, lime, simple syrup, and tonic) and get in formation. Coming in for a quieter lunch? Cool, just be sure to have water nearby because the spices in the Cajun salmon-topped Rasta Pasta will have your tastebuds doing the two-step." - DeMarco Williams

4.5 stars: I really liked the good beef stir fry noodle. Stir fry rice cakes were pretty good too. Wonton chip complimentary at the start of meal and fortune cookie at the end is a cute touch. Entree items come with rice. Soup dumplings were ok, not too special so I’d probably skip that next time. Salt and pepper shrimp was ok too, better than the soup dumplings but I wish they cooked the onion more.

We ordered Ma bo tofu, Singapore noodle and sautéed lamb with cumin. Good presentation, fresh and moderate potion (dine in 2 people, and bring to go home some left). Served with steamed white rice on side. Personally a bit salty, otherwise I’ll put five stars.

UPDATE: Tried this restaurant for a second time and it is still serving up amazing food ! I asked for the wild Thai beef to be less spicy and I was quite delicious, I love that they add cilantro and celery to it for extra crunch. The salted pepper shrimp was amazing definitely a must try ! Food was done in 20 minutes for my to-go order. Clean restaurant as well . This place is a must try in Katy!!! I got the pan fried pork dumplings , spicy fried chicken bites/w fried rice , Dan Dan Noodles and the cream cheese crab ragoons. The dumplings were my favorite part especially with the side of chili oil that they gave. The nice crunch matched with the soy sauce gave a really flavorful bite. I would definitely get these again. I wasn't a huge fan of the Spicy fried chicken bites. It had a lot of texture but was simply too hot for my liking. The Dan Dan noodles had little meat with it and it was 85% noodles so that was disappointing. The Ragoons were good , tasted like a more elevated version of Panda Express which is expected. Definietly a must try resturant

Coming here for the first time! We ordered several dishes! Personally, I ordered mapo tofu with mild spiciness but the dish was very spicy 🌶️ plus pepper corn was pretty strong 😝 If they make less spice and pepper corn then that would be much better for my taste but I like the flavor! Their portion is generous and plenty! My friends ordered general tofu and sour potatoes stuffs and they are good! Plenty tables to serve people here and the vibe is nice! It doesn’t look like an authentic Chinese environment but more like modern style! I’ll come back again! :) But hope they make foods a bit less spicy 🌶️ Cheers 🥂

Google
The food is very good but it’s best experienced dine-in (for freshness especially the fried foods). This is where this place falls a little short. The dining room has an unusual ambiance, think abandoned dance club and when we have gone there’s hardly anyone there. I assume at least part of issue is due to all of the take-out orders. That said, we do love the taste, quality, portions and value here, so we do recommend it.

Google
The food was so tasty! We would go back for the dumplings alone! The rice is cooked perfectly. We had the peppered beef, not for those who don't like spice, it was excellent. We will be back again. The wait staff was kind and attentive. The restaurant has oy been open 3 months and it is fantastic.

Google
If you like spicy then this place is for you. We were the first customers to walk in the restaurant and seated right away. There was fried wonton strips at each table...kind of curious of those were fried in the same day or the day before or.... Anyway we ordered the following: Cumin lamb - definitely taste the cumin flavor, good seasoning, there were pieces of lamb that you have to fish through all the peppers however some pieces were tough and chewy. Be careful and eating the fresh red peppers because it was not red bell peppers...there were those fresh large red chili peppers. Bit into it and sent fire throughout my tongue Fried pork intestine - if you are adventurous I recommend this dish. The intestine was sliced thin, lightly coated with either cornstarch or flour and fried to a crunchy texture. Then sautéed with dried red chili peppers with seasoning. I had a few chewy pieces but overall it was good Hot sauce and boiled fish - when I go to szechuan or hunan restaurants I like to eat water boil fish so this comes pretty close. This dish was more soupy with veggies and pieces of fish. It would be nice to have more fish and veggies than broth. The sauce was spicy more numbing (malat)...a different type of spiciness. Mountain City Hot Pot - same monotonous sauce as the Hot Sauce and boiled fish but different ingredients; it was served with large flat noodles, wood ear mushrooms, beef, potatoes and veggies (nappa cabbage I believe)...again more soupy Everything was served rice. The service was excellent as they checked in on us every so often. The restaurant got kind of busy after noon on Sunday especially if you see Asian customers coming and eating here then you know it is good. I didn't give 5 stars due to chewy texture of the lamb and 2 of the dishes were rather soupy.

Why so serious

Google
I came to this place based off the reviews. The customer service was awesome but the food was not it. It was fresh but it didn’t have taste and one of my pieces of chicken was discolored inside which was weird to me. Another piece of chicken was so stringy, that I thought I was chewing hair. I almost puked not knowing if this was actually chicken. We ordered General Tso chicken and Sesame chicken. The rice was bland and not fluffy at all. Overall I won’t be coming here anymore.

Yelp
Had a taste for some good Asian cuisine and glad I was able to see a recent TikTok regarding this place. The review definitely did not sell this place short. Parking was plentiful, restroom area was clean, service was excellent, and the food was exceptional. I've passed this place several times and it was a for sure diamond in the rough. Now the Eats!!! I ordered the Fried Dumplings and Cheesy Rangoons to start which had the best crisp flavor ratio. For main entrees we ordered the Spicy shrimp, the General TSO's chicken, & the BBQ Pork Fried Rice. Both entree's were prepared fresh, well seasoned, and gave the best combination of flavors. Kudos to the chef for making me a believer!! If you are in the Katy area you must give them a visit. Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Overall, a very solid choice for Chinese food with a diverse menu. The menu has a good mix of classic Chinese American dishes to satisfy starter Chinese food palletes and authentic dishes. We got a big mix of dishes but our favorite standouts were the spicy crispy cube chicken. Great crunch! We enjoyed the lo mein as well. The cucumbers as a starter were spicy and a yummy refresher!

Yelp
We frequent here about once a month, but we always end up getting take out. It's one of the places that I know my Togo order will be fulfilled accurately. Industry wide, I've noticed Togo orders have the most inaccuracies so that is always a deciding factor when choosing somewhere to get take out. I LOVE the tea smoked duck, and red chili oil dumplings. But I also haven't disliked anything on the menu. I'd recommend this restaurant for sure!

Chris C.

Yelp
Really good food and service. The dumplings were very well done. The General Tao's was good. Solid place for good Chinese food!

Yelp
I wish Spicy House was my house! After finding myself in Katy on another mission, we pulled up to Spicy House, anticipating some good Sichuan style cuisine. The ambiance inside of Spicy House is just what I like. Not too bright. Dim lights and music mixed with the sound of people enjoying their food and company. I really like the way the restaurant is decorated. There was a comforting vibe in there. The service was great. I was greeted immediately and shown to a seat right away. After perusing the menu for a bit. I ordered the Spicy Fish Slides and Red Chili Oil Dumplings for the table. The dumplings were really delicious and seasoned very well. I'm not a huge dumpling guy but I really enjoyed these. These were probably the best dumplings I've tasted in recent memory. With that being said... I have to warn you about the Spicy Fish Slides! You may become addicted! These fish slides were so flavorful and crispy. I couldn't get enough! Forget Lay's potato chips, there is no way you can eat just one of these fish slides. I barely wanted to stop at one plate. The outside was crispy but the inside was tender and juicy. The oil/sauce on the fish and veggies is intense and incredible. The peppercorns make my lips numb and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thinking about it right now makes my mouth water and want to go get some right now. The server recommended I try the spicy shrimp next time, since I enjoyed the fish so much. I will take her up on that the next time I return. I will need a plate of fish and one of shrimp. Spicy House was a hidden gem to me but I won't keep the secret to myself. Go to Spicy House and experience the spice of life!

Rachel D.

Yelp
I eat here about once a week. I always get the basil chicken, air fried green beans, eggplant, spicy fish slides and hot and sour soup. The restaurant inside is nice and clean. They give you fried wonton chips as a snack if you eat in. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This place is amazing and became a household favourite many moons ago. I was allowed to employ my broken Mandarin and the kitchen has always astounded us! I look forward to tasting new flavours each and every visit though I have had everything at-least twice so I might have to wait. Zoey, who helped us with the order, taught me how to say tea cup and jasmine, because I asked for a second cup but could only ask for tea on my own. Zoey and the front of house team were all great and offered delightful conversation regarding linguistic traditions and about other Chinese culinary delights.

Yelp
Yummy and fresh. Good choices. Excellent service and fair prices. Lo main and fried beans are my fav.

Nina K.

Yelp
I enjoyed everything I had here for lunch with my family. My favorites were the vegetable lo mein and the spicy fish dish. The service was good and the restaurant was nice and clean. The only thing is that the booths are super squishy and so when you sit down, the table is really close to your face so maybe don't sit at a booth.

Yelp
I'll call em when I see em! Finally found a favorite Chinese spot out near Mason Rd and i-10. Wish there was one closer! Saw some hot reviews on this spot so I had to check it out. Took my dad for early father's day festivities. Ordered the pork steamed dumplings to start. Then I ordered the spicy basil chicken. AMAZING! It's been some time since I have had some good Chinese food. It really is hard to find near my keck of the woods. Can be a let down often. This place was a breathe of fresh air! Fresh basil was on point with the perfect mix of their spicy sauce that smothered the chicken. I couldn't finish the entire dish and was super excited to eat leftovers the next day. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I'm really happy that I found an authentic Sichuan restaurant outside of the Bellaire strip. I've only been here three times and haven't been able to stray away from the fish filet with chopped chili - I find it addictive! And the noodles they place the fish on is superb and a nice bonus! I suppose I will soon have to branch out and try some of the other items, but not anytime soon.

Dee E.

Yelp
We love Spicy House as does the Asian & non Asian community. The food is more authentic Chinese. They have many unique dishes. The restaurant is pretty. The service is very attentive. They have become our favorite Asian restaurant in the area. Which is significant as Katy Asian town is within 2 miles of this resturant .

Heidi S.

Yelp
The service was so nice at the Spicy house ; considering my daughter spilled her water on the floor. They were so chill and nice about it. The food was really flavorful and the whole fam enjoyed it. This will definitely be our new to go Chinese food place to eat and bring friends. Thanks for a great experience % recommended.

Yelp
First time here and gotta say I'll be back. Super delicious General TSO chicken and their Hot and Sour soup was delicious.

Eamonn O.

Yelp
We have ordered twice from Spicy House. The General Tso chicken is white meat and really good , and yep just a little spicy. I think ordering on line you can define the spice level. Better than the average take outs that seem to be cutting corners to save on costs. Good work Spicy House

Yelp
When you live by the words: spicy and numbing, this place won't disappoint you, as they surely don't play when it comes to that kick of heat in their dishes. Being one of the places I've frequent for a while now, this hidden gem does Sichuan food spot on. On the most recent visit, I got: -steamed shrimp dumplings: these are like the dim sum "har gow" and served in a bamboo steamer and great dipping sauce -orange chicken: nice orange glazed sauce with delicious crispy chicken, can't stop at one bite -colorful shredded pork: a traditional dish and their take on it is delicious, one bowl of rice won't be enough with this -fresh peppercorn fish fillet: if you've had boiled spicy fish before, this dish is similar to it, flavorful, spicy, numbing, all of the above If I had to recommend, I would say be spontaneous, close your eyes, and point to any dishes on their menu to try, cause it's all good. But for first timers, some of my favs would be: peppercorn chicken or beef cubes, spicy fish slides, lovers beef, walnut shrimp, colorful pork, cauliflower with pork, ants on tree, shanghai rice cake, and homestyle tofu...just to name a few. But also be warned, that red chili symbol next to the dishes on the menu is a sign from the pepper gods for you to ask for spicy-level adjustment or else there's no turning back. Especially with dishes like the one I had, "spicy peppercorn fish fillet", it's not just the normal spicy here that gets you, but the numbing effects of the peppercorns..maybe this is what "cat got your tongue" feels like. So remember to adjust spiciness accordingly. Aside from the amazing authentic food, the place is well kept, always nice and clean, and enough room for large group parties. Service is always an A+ with very attentive and friendly staff. This is definitely one of my go-to places for authentic Sichuan-style cuisine offering great variety and great food, can't go wrong here if you love spicy.

Jeong H.

Yelp
One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Katy area. The food tastes good and I like their portions. They have pretty good vegetarian options. I usually get their General Tso's Tofu and Spicy potato with vinegar. Please continue to provide good food and service!

Del F.

Yelp
Great food! We ordered the soup dumplings, pork dumplings and the shrimp dumplings, along with the house fried rice and ginger fish. This is a f god rest place to go for dumplings. The soup dumplings were fresh, plump, popping with juice and the dumplings were tender. I did not like the taste of the shrimp dumplings, under seasoned for me and the flavor was fresh , but it made me think of raw shrimp. The fried rice was tasty and full of meat. The ginger fish which I had never seen on a menu before was spicy and colorful. Overall a great meal. The service was lacking. We were b n ever offered water. I asked or a glass. The condiments were not on the table. I had to ask fir soy sauce, and I had to ask for spins. With soup dumplings, really? The good gets five stars the service only one.

Danielle L.

Yelp
My husband and I were in town visiting a friend for her 40th birthday and we decided to stop in and try out the food after looking up reviews on Yelp! Well, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was great! I ordered the General Tso chicken which was delightfully tasty and my husband ordered the Mapo Tofu! Both dishes were amazing! Loved everything it all, we will be back! What a hidden gem!

Bimini C.

Yelp
I have eaten from Spicy House for about 3 yrs and until about 6 mos ago,... it was definitely 5stars. That said,.... It has gone down since then. The food quality is not the same. When calling in an order, I have had difficulty getting the person taking my order to understand what I want, thus, when arriving to pick up my order, it isn't correct. I would LOVE to have it get back to the quality taste and service as before.

Asia B.

Yelp
Out of all of the items I purchased I enjoyed all 3 out of 4. My favorite item so far is the crab cheese wonton the best I've ever had! Egg drop soup great with flavor and they give you a lot of rice for the price of 11.99. The only item I did not like and will not purchase again was the steamed pork bun no flavor in the pork at all. Service was great I came around 8:20 and it wasn't anyone in there so I received assistance immediately upon entering the establishment.

Michelle O.

Yelp
It looked interesting as we see it on our way to Daiso, so we decided to try it out. The teapots are $3.99 per pot and refillable. The white rice came in the usual red container. The rice had a few spots of mushy grey residue, and the grains weren't all white. The Hot Sauce and Boiled Fish dish tasted like I expected: spicy and tangy oil with lots of napa cabbage, mung bean sprouts and tender fish fillets. The House Special Lo Mein had thin noodles and moist meats. It tasted less eggy than I expected and mostly had a chicken bouillon and raw cabbage flavor. The teacups, spoons and bowls had bits of food and residue before given to us, so we had to get them replaced. Originally, I was super excited about the teapot and lo mein, but after dining here, I think it was enough that I gave it a try.

Thuy V.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the middle of Mason Street, around the corner from 99 Market. The food was excellent, just as I remembered from Asia. Steamed Shrimp Dumpling- So fresh, I think they may have been made on premise. Serve with the right dipping sauce. Yum. Spicy Clams - I asked for less spicy, and it was perfect. Clams are mixed with red pepper and crispy cucumber that compliments the hot oil. Just the right heat. Adding Dan Dan Noodles ordered as take-out. The right amount of spice and noodles were firm and well-cooked.

Sunny S.

Yelp
We love this place. We have come on most of special occasions. All the dishes are superb but if you love chilly food, I recommend spicy chicken , spicy boiled fish . If coming with children, orange chicken is good. Soups are ok but entrees are way to go .

Vicki L.

Yelp
15 years.. ever since I had to leave China for work. This is my new favorite authentic Sichuan food. 腊肉茶树菇- 记得从小在上海每周吃川妹子,腊肉茶树菇在铁锅里咕嘟咕嘟 记得去成都的时候,每一个菜都好吃还便宜。 I will be back for sure!

Lacey D.

Yelp
I can only review Spicy House for one item- the Ants on a Tree noodles. My husband and I love this dish but rarely find it, so we knew we had to come and get it. The restaurant atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. The service was prompt and friendly. When we ordered, the waitress made sure to ask us if we had tried the dish before (since it is a unique dish). It came to the table hot, fresh, and delicious! The noodles were the perfect texture, and the flavor was delicious.

Justin H.

Yelp
Wow , what a gem. Was close by didn't know what to get for dinner. So decided to give this place a try , we did take out , love the spicy flavor. Chicken fried rice was awesome too. Can't wait to try other items on the menu.

Juan A.

Yelp
I give it 5 stars because its exactly what I expect when I order Chinese. It tastes like you expect it to and the portions are great.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Great tasting food. Very flavorful. Incredible service as well. Plain, clean and simple. I would highly recommend this establishmeny

Noreen R.

Yelp
Let me just say that with a name like Spicy House, it definitely didn't disappoint. Everything we tried was delicious. I would pass on the egg rolls which were standard and ordinary. The wonton soup was flavorful and had huge wontons. We also had the Thai chili lamb which was a banger. So much flavor and heat. I would be advised that if you are sensitive to heat it many be too spicy. The secret is Thai chilis which packs so heat. We also had the lo mein and which also didn't disappoint. We will definitely return to try some items on the list that you don't see in other restaurants like the frog legs and intestine.

Google U.

Yelp
Good choice of food and decent service. We ordered spicy chicken cube, fish and green beans dish. Chicken and fish were delicious. But green beans had lots of garlic and not much flavor. Overall a satisfying meal!

Kacey T.

Yelp
An authentic Szechuanese restaurant that also offer non-spicy items my kids love such as the Japanese seafood tofu, pan friend green beans, fragrant garlic ribs & Shanghainese rice cakes.

Apryl M.

Yelp
Updated Review: I had to bump my rating down 2 stars today due to the current taste/flavor of the dishes and preparation of food. I ordered takeout for lunch and I was thoroughly disappointed when my food was delivered. I ordered the BBQ Pork Fried Rice and it was very bland tasting, lacking flavor and not worthy of the spicy house name. Wasn't even fried well, kinda soggy and greasy. Also, there were very small bits of egg which I thought was a key ingredient in fried rice. I won't be ordering this dish again for $13. The Stir-Fried Singapore Noodle was a little dry; with more noodles than protein for $13 which only had 3 shrimps in the dish. For this price I would expect more protein as I couldn't even share it. I'm not sure what's happening although I haven't ordered from there in few months. I used to love this place. The food dishes I had were under seasoned and not the same as before. I realize that food, herbs, and seasonings are more expensive now but if you are trying to make a name for yourself based on the the taste of your Chinese food; then the price point should match the quality of the food. I cannot stand Chinese food restaurants that when first opening the food is great and seasoned well and then a year later they start slacking on flavor and tasting basic. The whole reason I really liked this place was because the food was spicy and seasoned well. I did not get that today for $50 plus delivery. I can make my own Chinese fried rice at home better than what I got today. Many Chinese restaurants lack flavor in Katy as they cater to certain demographic that don't really like spice. Anyway, I'm not saying I'm done with them but I won't eat there until things change. Hopefully, they will get back to how they used to prepare their dishes in 2021.

Yelp
Hubby and I thought we would try something new for lunch. This is a great little spot tucked away on Kingsland. We ordered hot and sour soup, egg drop soup, egg rolls and crab puffs to start. The hot and sour soup was perfect. Spicy, full of veggies and overall great flavor profile. We both really enjoyed my soup. The egg drop soup was super eggy and lacked flavor; I don't think we will order that again. I ordered the Wild Thai Beef and it was delicious! Tender cuts of quality beef, crunchy veggies and chili's, in a flavor filled, spicy chili oil sauce. I did ask for mine to be extra spicy and the waiter convinced me it was spicy enough... Next time, I will stick to my guns and order extra spicy! I know I look like I can't handle the heat, but I love all things insanely spicy. Hubby ordered Mongolian beef. Tender quality beef sautéed with onions and mixed with a slightly sweet and spicy brown sauce. It was a really nice dish but we both agreed the Wild Thai Beef stole the show. Overall, a delicious meal and a gem of a spot! Can't wait to try something new next time.

Sabina G.

Yelp
I have always ordered delivery or take out from this restaurant. Would love to go in person one day. Possibly my favorite restaurant in Katy, let alone Houston!! Too spicy for my kids but perfect for me! love the peppercorn chicken and spicy fish slides

Judy R.

Yelp
Good food & great service. Nice clean restaurant with very nice & welcoming staff. Prices are competitive

Tony T.

Yelp
Came by on a Friday for lunch. Ordered the below: Pork egg roll - tasted like any normal egg roll, didn't stand out Hot and sour soup - didn't really like it. It had some kind of red peppers that overwhelmed the soup taste. Mongolian beef - it tasted good but needs more sauce/seasoning. Very tender and not dry. Salt & Pepper Shrimp - perfectly fried. Nice and plump. Tasted delicious.

Bradley M.

Yelp
This is one of our go to Chinese restaurants. Love the walnut shrimp. Beef and broccoli is amazing. And crab Rangoon are my favorites.

Holly C.

Yelp
Stopped in during a brief shopping trip and it was incredible. The food was so good. Fresh, hot and flavorful. We had the house special lo mein, the broccoli beef and the sesame chicken. Service was prompt and attentive. They had a lot of togo orders going out so they are clearly very popular. We will definitely make this our go to when we are in town.

David H.

Yelp
Mongolian beef and General Tso's chicken are our favorites. Egg rolls and awesome too.

Jason R.

Yelp
Soup dumpling actually has soup inside. There were two other good soup dumpling places on Mason. Unfortunately, one closed down, the other one has been using frozen from supermarket for the past year or so. Everything solid. Will be back

Marion Z.

Yelp
A new family favorite! Spicy House is a must try! They offer a mix of Sichuan and Chinese-American favorites, like General Tso's and Orange Chicken. Generous portions and reasonable prices. We have ordered: 1. Fresh Peppercorn Fish 2. Sweet and Sour Eggplant 3. Orange Chicken (best we've ever had!) 4. Fried Spicy Chicken Cubes 5. Twice cooked pork strips 6. Dry fried green beans 7. General Tso's Chicken

Travis J.

Yelp
Food a fresh and good. It's hard for me to find good Chinese food but I will return. Egg rolls are VERY Good

Wendy H.

Yelp
The mushroom salad is very tasty. Portion size is very good. I usually have leftover to take home.

Marlith C.

Yelp
I've been wanting Asian food for a while now and Katy is filled with so many places that it was hard to choose. But after reading so many reviews I landed on this one. Very large portions for sure both my bf and I had leftovers for the next day. The flavor in the sesame chicken and chicken fried rice were spot on. I would go again for that. The spicy beef not so much, it is spicy though. I also had the spicy oil dumplings and I would not order them again.

Laura C.

Yelp
Very good food. We were in on a night when a large group of men were whooping it up. But, for reals... dang delish! Husband had spicy fish, I had a yum super delish chicken dish. The fried rice was great, egg rolls decent. Service was fast, and friendly!

Susan C.

Yelp
Oh my tongue. When the word "Spicy" is a part of your name, they aren't messing around. Everything we get here is ALWAYS so.dang.good. Any of the noodles, any of the dumplings, the soups, any vegetables, any pork, beef or shrimp dish - honestly, you just cannot go wrong with any dish here. We have a large family so we end up ordering at least a10+ dishes at a time and the two times we've been here (in less than a month), we have NOT been disappointed.
