Where to Eat and Drink at This Year’s Comic-Con

"Both of the cafe’s locations in Seaport Village and the Gaslamp will be celebrating Comic-Con with Super Mario-themed cream cheeses. Pair a specialty coffee drink with Mario Party pizza cream cheese or Donkey Kong’s banana cream cheese on a house bagel available in flavors ranging from French toast and garlic and herb to a classic everything seasoning." - Candice Woo

Gaslamp Bagel and Coffee Shop Lands at Seaport Village | Eater San Diego

"Opening Tuesday, December 1 inside Seaport Village’s lighthouse structure, the daytime eatery expands the Spill the Beans concept that launched in the Gaslamp in 2017 and is owned by The Verant Group (barleymash, Maverick’s Beach Club). It will focus primarily on counter service with a few outdoor tables and a menu built around housemade “California-style” bagels in non-traditional varieties like habanero and jack cheese or bacon and white cheddar, served with cream cheeses flavored from garlic and red chili to wasabi, ginger, and soy. Other offerings include customizable breakfast sandwiches, protein bowls, and oatmeal. Partnering exclusively with local Dark Horse Coffee Roasters for all coffee and espresso — ranging from classic drip coffee to cold brew and specialty beverages — the cafe will also serve tea and kombucha. Owner Dave Jones says they’re looking forward to being part of Seaport Village’s modernization and that the group doesn’t have any other active expansion plans for the Spill the Beans brand." - Candice Woo

We were in San Diego for a conference and Spill The Beans was right outside the back door of our hotel. They were so wonderful. I'm back home and wishing I could get an iced lavender chai. The girl that helped us every morning was so pleasant and we still can't believe she could remember our name every morning....sometimes i can't remember my own name...she probably dealt with 100s of people everyday and yet she remembered our name. The chai was delicious. We had to find out what kind they were using because by day 2 we were addicted. All of the employees we encountered during the week were very friendly. There is a reason there is a long line every morning. It's worth it. And the line moves very quickly. We thought the prices were very reasonable, esp for the location. We pay the same or more at home for our Chai. So we appreciated that they don't gouge the tourists.

Reasonable prices, friendly staff and good food. The bagels were good..not quite NYC good, but I would go back and get more (the Cinnamon Raisin bagel with Cinnamon Sugar was excellent. They also had cookies (not on the menu but visible once you get to the counter). Prices are much better than the nearby hotels too.

Cute waterside cafe. The Lox with Chive Spread had high‑quality smoked salmon and the San Dieggo breakfast sandwich combines eggs, peppered bacon, and melty cheeses. The Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie is a perfectly balanced sweet‑savory treat, and the coffee was just perfect. Though prices skew toward the higher side, the scenic location, friendly service, and quality ingredients make it worth it.

While walking beside the marina I saw lots of people carrying coffee cups and knew there must be a good shop up ahead. The location is fantastic and the lighthouse building is so cute. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese everything bagel. It was good but the bagel was on the soft, thick side. I think I prefer them more toasted / less doughy in texture. I feel like I would ask for the chipotle sauce on the side if getting this again as it wasn't my favorite and I believe is what was adding some sweetness to the meal. The vanilla latte with oatmilk was nice. No notes. Service was friendly and efficient. I believe the 2 items were approximately $25. So, STB is a good scenic coffee and breakfast option (besides Starbucks) if you're staying nearby but I don't see myself returning frequently.

This is a fantastic coffee shop. Great unique flavors and right on the bay. The La Vita mocha and the basic sitch were amazing

I enjoyed the cold brew with brown sugar foam. My favorite food was the avocado bagel toast with bacon. I'm going to recreate that at home. Mind the jalapeños if you don't like spicy

Coffee was great and the people working are great too. It’s by far the best place for a drink or food in Seaport Village. They do some cool seasonal/limited time drinks so those are always fun to try, but everything is good.
