Spiller Park Coffee’s Fourth Location Opens in South Downtown | Eater Atlanta

"Warm and earnest, this neighborhood coffee shop opened with the founder happily bartending drinks while house chai perfume and 1980s tunes filled the air. Housed in a 112-year-old building, the interior leans into its historic character — original floor dips, penny-tile botanical motifs, vine-line molding and a tin-influenced ceiling painted a signature green-cyan that shifts in tone across layers — giving the space a nostalgic, layered charm. Early operational challenges with a landlord change were resolved through a new partnership with neighboring Atlanta Tech Village leadership, and the team plans to expand the coffee menu with varied brew methods and stronger options while adding more grab-and-go food to take advantage of street parking and increased foot and bike traffic. The owner views the shop as part of a larger effort to enliven the street and improve transit-oriented pedestrian life, and is already eyeing further expansion, including a potential high-profile location on Peachtree Street. Its name references a nearby ballpark where Atlanta’s first minor-league and Negro American League teams played nearly a century ago." - Sarra Sedghi

Spiller Park Coffee Shop Is Opening in Historic Hotel Row on Mitchell Street in Downtown Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Slated to open on Mitchell Street in downtown Atlanta by early 2023, this fourth-location coffee shop emphasizes history and intimacy by preserving a space that remains largely as it was a century ago. Owner Dale Donchey—who has tested the site with pop-ups including a Super Bowl 2019 activation and a summer pop-up that also featured his Dear Friend, Bagels—wants to keep the building’s original character: white, teal, and maroon penny tiles forming geometric and floral patterns; tin ceiling tiles with exposed slatted wood; molded-metal walls accented with fleur-de-lis and vine designs; and a front-door plaque reading “Imperial Cafe,” a detail that points to the site’s possible past as a cafe for a nearby fruit-and-vegetable company. Donchey plans a Roaring-20s-ish renovation that touches as little as possible while layering in his signature vintage-baseball–inspired, modernized coffee aesthetic; he describes the location as his “home hitter,” a deliberate, small expansion intended to balance growth with hands-on stewardship and neighborhood preservation." - Sarra Sedghi

This place absolutely rules. The entire team— Addison, David, Kat, Juan, and Lee— are the friendliest, most knowledgeable bunch, and if you dine in, you’ll notice just how many regulars filter in and what a community this place has built around it. The vanilla piccolo is my go-to drink, but I’ve never been disappointed in the times when I choose differently (the current peppermint bark latte is stellar). The food menu is limited, but so, SO good. They’ve really honed in on what they do well and perfected it. I dream of their avocado toast (with chili lime butter that’s incredible), and the Reuben was good enough to convert my friend who thought she didn’t like them. Like the drinks, there are no bad options—on its own, the sourdough toast they use is criminally delicious. You truly won’t find a better team or a better cup of coffee downtown. Thanks for the top-tier hospitality, SP4 crew

Sorry Ms. J.

Before taking a stroll through the neighborhood, on a beautiful morning, I dropped by to grab a cup of coffee here. To my surprise, I was met with such a passionate, knowledgeable barista (hopefully that is the proper term). Addison was a pleasure to be serviced by. I’m a newbie to the world of coffee, and I’m kinda in the ‘winging it’ stages, whereas I go to a coffee shop, and just order what I see. However, today, I was taken aback by the well informed gentleman, who really took the time to educate me on some key points in the “world of coffee.” I cannot quite recall some intricate details that were shared, to reference here, but I will say, I’ll begin to draw from my new knowledge as I continue on my coffee journey. One thing I forgot to ask — if I should have enjoyed the coffee in its pureness without diluting it with a bit of cream & sugar?! I can’t say that I enjoyed the coffee, to fault of my own… however, next time, I’ll try it straight. All in all, it’s a great addition to the downtown area, and I look forward to my next visit. Would absolutely recommend to others that might be in the mood for a charming specialty coffee shop, with great staff who care!

I ordered the mexi cola cocktail, big boi muffin (grilled) and the toast with seasonal jam. Everything was phenomenal!!! Outstanding service and atmosphere as well. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The pricing through me off a little but I’m also from the country lol these Atlanta prices might be different. But totally worth it for the taste and experience.

I am a coffee snob. This place is one of the best I've had in Atlanta. Oat latte was great. My temporary local whilst I'm in ATL

Came by when I needed some time to kill before heading to the airport. The guys here know what they are doing and are super kind! I (mistakenly) tried the avo toast with two fried eggs. The sourdough brioche had a really nice chilli butter on it, so good. Ingredients are so fresh and the flavors are phenomenal. Also had the sage brown butter latte made with homemade pecan milk! Never tried pecan milk before, gonna try that at home. I’m definitely coming back for it next time I’m here. Thanks guys! I really appreciate y’all.

I was here in ATL for work and noticed this little gem here on a Sunday afternoon. It was not until y flight back home Friday morning I decided to give SPILLER PARK COFFEE a try. I ordered their iced Costa Rican coffee with a splash of half & half. Accompanied by the Avocado toast with a runny egg over it. I must say the toast was delicious with the touch of radishes and zesty lime from the avocado. Overall would come again and recommend this place to anyone on the area.
