Where to Eat in the Dynamic, Diverse Neighborhood of Falls Church, Va. | Eater DC

"Falls Church has several solid options for pollo a la brasa, but Spin Pollo takes it to the next level with their impressive variety of sides, from fragrant pinto beans to chaufa to mac and cheese. Other Peruvian dishes are available as well, such as lomo saltado. Always order extra green sauce." - Missy Frederick

I've been here twice just wanting to try something different and I personally enjoyed the Arroz Chaufa. I love the different flavors, the fact you can get Chicken or Beef, or mix it and have chicken, beef and pork in it. The Mango and Passion Fruit drinks are delicious but I definitely like them better when the two drinks at mixed. This is a chill little space for when you want to enjoy a nice little lunch or dinner. The portion of the Arroz Chaufa is plenty full so be prepared to have a nice container full. Spin Pollo is next to plenty of stores and other restaurants as well. The shopping center has plenty of parking and also had seating outside just in case you want to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while eating. Also, one of the best plus shoes to going here is the bathroom is clean. The only downside I have is just to add toilet seat covers.

Literally the best chicken sandwich I’ve had in all of NOVA/DMV. The steak n cheese is really good too. Thank you my new favorite place!!!😊🤤

Not the first time that I've ordered from here but the first time that I've tried the Lomo Saltado. It was sooo good! My coworker also got the same thing and I doubled back to see if it was ME or if it was really that good, IT WAS :) Everyone else was happy with their food and for a small office luncheon the price wasn't bad either! This is our local Pollo spot, so we'll be back! My coworker picked up and said the place was packed! But surprisingly our food was ready and it was a fast smooth pick up!

My experience as soon as I walked in the door was amazing. I was greeted by the staff with a smile and they looked eager to see me. I placed my order and had the 1/2 chicken with Yuca fries and plantain, and it was delicious. That’s the mildest way I can express how great the food one. The chicken was moist and flavored excellently, the fries were perfect - especially dipped in the yellow sauce 😍, and the plantain was crispy around the edges, and sweet and tender on the inside. If I could go back everyday, I would do so for breakfast, lunch AND dinner.

Google
A large, delicious, moist chicken breast with two sides (yucca fries and mac and cheese) very reasonably priced at $12.25. I'm a member of their free rewards program, so I used my birthday coupon for an additional $10 off. I got there before noon, so there was no problem getting a table.

Very delicious and fresh! The steak and chicken sub were both great and the churros are a must try. A bit of a wait for the food but worth it for how tasty it is!

20220518 Employees were nice, but service is real slow. I was 2nd customer to order and the first set of customers, 2 people, were already sitting down when I walked into the restaurant. There were plenty of cooked chickens in the case, and several employees working behind the counter. The sides were ready to go. Not sure why the sloooooow pace. They are opened for about 2 months. Maybe they need to learn about the DC fast pace. 😁 while waiting, I got to look around and take some pictures. I ordered a hald chicken dark meat with rice and beans to go for $16 + 15% tips. All the way home, I was smelling the aroma of this yummy meal in my cat. The rice had chicken pieces in it, and it was delicious!! Reminded me a little of fried rice. The beans were just beans but good. The chicken was delicious. It has a nice smokey flavor and seasoning. My finicky pup liked the chicken.

Google
Since this place just opened we wanted to try as much as we could. The chicken was perfect, fries were alright but lacked flavor, and pasta salad was like what you'd buy at Giant. Decided to get adventurous and try out the Spin Salchipapas. If you've ever had a hot dog and fries you get the idea. It was hands down one of the worst things I've ever eaten. Everything else though, was awesome. Staff was amazing, food was great, and timely. Not sure I'd make it a regular place, but would never turn it down.

Yelp
Every time we've ordered food from Spin Pollo, the food has tasted fresh and wonderfully made. The restaurant is always busy but clean and organized. The food arrives on time and they do well on delivering the food when the food order is placed over the phone.
google avatar

Lucia B.

Yelp
This review is long overdue for a visit last year. Unfortunately it was the first and last. We actually ordered food for delivery and was appalled that the chicken was not entirely cooked. It was slimey and not at all how chicken should taste. It went right in the trash. I had never experienced an undercooked chicken at a rotisserie restaurant. For the sides we had the yuca fries which were ok but not outstanding, and the Mc and cheese which was the best out of everything we ate. The prices are steep, and the quality and taste did not match the prices. Can't comment on the dining in experience and staff since we ate at home. I unfortunately was so grossed out by the uncooked chicken that I can't come back to give them another chance.

Yelp
I ordered a quarter white lunch meal with two sides. The chicken is super delicious lots of flavor and good portion size. The rice with beans on top was really good too. I missed out on getting yuquita balls though. Those are filled with cheese in the middle. The yellow sauce is a must if you order the chicken. Just dip it in while eating!
google avatar

Yelp
Very delicious and fresh food. Came in around 5:30pm on a Monday and my food was ready within 90 seconds. I came in slightly before the dinner rush and it was slow but the staff weren't sitting on their phones... they were sweeping the floors, cleaning the tables and working hard behind the counter. I hope they stick around because having a fast quick healthy meal is more important than ever in my household :)
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped into Spin Pollo for lunch. The place was very busy. The service was quick and my food came out very hot. The lomo saltado comes with fries. I would get the dish again, but without the fries served with the lomo saltado. The churros were a great sweet treat. I just wish the caramel was served warmed.
google avatar

Usamah N.

Yelp
Great chicken as always, employee was a bit rude about me wanting to exchange sauce for another as they gave me the wrong one. Aside from that, great food & no complaints
google avatar

Elizabeth E.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in a while so I decided to pop in. They have some additional and new menu items so I was excited. I wanted something sweet so I got the churros with caramel on the side. 4 nice size churros with dip for 5.99. I don't use the dip and they were good. I also got the lomo saltado and like always I enjoyed it. It was juicy and flavorful and just what I wanted and needed. My food was cooked to ordered I didn't wait too long they did have a lot of door dash orders and Alot of people on and out ordering which is always good.
google avatar

Takia C.

Yelp
Food was okay. Just okay. The beef Loma noodles dish was salty and when we added green sauce it was extremely salty and inedible. Service was great. Everything seemed clean and staff were cleaning / cooking diligently. I will return and update my review . But for what I ordered it just didn't set off any bells. Except the yucca balls - those were a solid no for us. The texture. Needs something to accompany the cheese . Some flavor / texture.

Alejandro A.

Yelp
This has been the worst chicken I've ever had. The chicken was so dry I choked on it. Another bad thing about the chicken was it's bland taste. The service was alright. The place looked nice but the food was straight DOG! I wouldn't even give a piece of chicken to my pet dog because of how bad the food was. The beans had a weird smoke taste to it. Don't get the roasted potatoes they taste like fish with butter. Grocery store chicken is better than this and priced way better.

Yelp
Had a very nice meal, the place was clean. Had Anna give me great suggestions on what to order. Fantastic!!!! As soon as I sat I was getting called to pick up the food from the counter. The service and costumer detail was absolutely outstanding.
google avatar

Malcolm W.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service and very nice family atmosphere. If you're in the area give them a try. Anna is the best hostess

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Absolutely ridiculous that you spend $35 for a whole chicken and 3 lathe sides and they give you only 2 yellow and 2 green sauces. Never again Spin Pollo! There are so many other Peruvian places to visit where there are not so sauce stingy!
google avatar

Beatrixx K.

Yelp
I like to go to diff pollo restaurants and get a whole chicken and sides. Your chicken was delicious and the yuca was fresh and crispy. Thanks again. Service was great.

Yelp
I forgot how amazing the food is here at Spin Pollo. They are known for their chicken, but their carne asada is excellent also. This is an ideal location in Kingtowne with plenty of parking and outdoor seating. The indoor vibe is pretty cool too, when it's hot outside. Spin Pollo has several healthy options, fresh ingredients and nice large portions. Great for takeout or a causal date night. Excellent service, friendly environment. Try the churros for dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
Our go to for Peruvian chicken in kingstowne. Why drive far. So many choices for things to eat here. Nothing ever disappoints here. The chicken is always super tasty skin is crispy and meat is juicy and tender. The sauces are on point. Lomo saltodo was great. Churros made to order warm and hot. Check it out if you are in the area.

Yelp
I pass by this spot all the time and the smells finally won me over! The chicken is cooked to perfection! I got a 1/4 dark and it was some of the juiciest I've ever had. I thought it might be just because they had just opened up for the day but I went back the next day at a later time and the chicken was just as fresh. The yuca is delicious here and seems like they always have some fresh out of the fryer. The sauces are all tasty and I can't pick a favorite. This place is the real deal! I'll be back soon
google avatar

Yelp
I have tried authentic Peruvian food multiple times, this was a different experience in a way but that's what i loved ! definitely has lots of side options and the sauces are so good! i also love how they have popsicles!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. We went for a half chicken with the side of fried yucca and fried rice and an order of lomo saltado. I also was told to try the chicha morada (a purple corn drink.) Chicken was great. Since I did takeout the skin doesn't stay crisp, but the flavor was quite good. For most of the pieces, the seasoning seemed to penetrate the meat. Fried yucca is pretty much fried yucca and the fried rice was also good. I shredded up some chicken and like to mix it with the rice, yucca, plus some of the green sauce (it's got a kick!) I barely got a taste of the lomo saltado as my wife had it. Large slices of beef. Also good flavor, more soy sauce forward and not as strong a vinegar taste. I had no idea what to expect chicha morada, but it reminded me a lot of jamaica (hibiscus tea.)

Yelp
I went here for the first time today, I ordered through door dash. My order was ready and complete, the staff was friendly and it looks like they do alot of take out order The chicken was juicy and moist, just the right spices! I ordered a side of fried rice and onion salad. Both wore very good! I also ordered a side of plantains which were yummy and caramelized just perfect, along with some yucca balls which were absolutely scrumptious! Their sauces are very good but you only get to choose from either green or yellow or pink not a combination like other places. I did pay extra for additional sauces though, they also sell their sauces in a squeeze bottle. Overall solid new place here in kingstowne!!

Yelp
While Luis C's review may be on point for authenticity, I will tell you that as far as the Peruvian Chicken, it is on point. Delicious. It's not just the blah rotisserie chicken that so, so many "Peruvian" chicken places try to pass off as Peruvian. Juicy, fresh and full of flavor! I will be back to sample more of their menu. To Luis C., authenticity is hard to find around here, but I've found that only Waku Chicken in Herndon and El Rancho in Springfield (which is more pan-latin than Peruvian) come close. Either way, Kingstown has so many options and it is good to have some additional variety. Spin Pollo has an expansive, but still limited menu compared to my reference locations above. They may expand their offerings as they move forward, or they may focus on what they do best. Only time will tell...

Yelp
Spin Pollo is a newer Peruvian eatery that had opened up in the Kingstowne area - I had heard some rave reviews about this place from those who live in the area, stating that it's one of their top choices for meals. The menu offers family styles, chicken combos with sides or no sides, wings, subs, and even house specialties (such as the lomo saltado). We had the following order to go: +Yuquita Balls - you can choose between 3- or a 5-piece order, in which we opted for the 3 pieces; these were mashed yuca balls stuffed with a blend of 3 different types of cheese inside; unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of these, as these tasted more like a dessert rather than a savory appetizer; also, the cheese inside were a bit coagulated and not the lovely melty consistency that you expected; also, I feel the oil could be changed as there was an off-putting taste to these +1 Whole Chicken with 2 Sides - from the extensive list of sides, we went for the mashed potatoes with the gravy on the side; I felt the chicken itself was not flavorful - the skin had its spices and seasonings, which made it super salty, but none of that permeated through the meat; the chicken itself was extremely large in size - think of like double the size of Costco's rotisserie chicken; it kind of freaked me out in how large their chicken was; I also felt the chicken could have been cooked longer, as there were some areas that were red/pink, which is a huge no in my book Also, the prices here are definitely steep; considering, the place is super stingy with their sauces. Note that only 6 little cups of sauce come with a whole chicken, but at least the sauces could be filled to the top rather than halfway - pretty janky, if you ask me. From this meal, we had enjoyed the mashed potatoes immensely; the gravy wasn't need, and it was weird with its clear liquidy look, but the potatoes themselves were super whipped, creamy, and buttery - definitely one of the better sides we've had in a while. Not sure if this place is worth a return visit, but I'm glad I was able to give them a try. +super stingy with sauces (even for family meals) +good mashed potatoes - avoid the gravy (not needed) +located in the Kingstowne Towne Center

Yelp
Glad to have another option for Peruvian chicken in Springfield. There's really only a handful. This was my first time in after seeing that they recently opened in the Kingstown shopping center. They are located between Home Goods and &Pizza. There seemed to be quite a few people coming in and out, which is always a good sign. There were also quite a few people who looked like they were waiting for their food. What I realized after getting to the counter, is that there was a 10 minute wait for white meat chicken. That was a bit disappointing as I am not a huge fan of dark meat. Went with the dark meat anyway since I wanted to try the chicken. Comes with 2 sides. Went with the white rice and black beans. They have a variety of sides that are out for you to see. All sides looked fresh and full. I was a little turned off that there wasn't much attention given to keeping the dining area clean. There were all kinds of food remnants on the floor. Seemed like everyone working had to be behind the counter, which is prob why they weren't able to keep the dining area clean. Aside from them not having white meat chicken available and the unkept dining area, the food was really good!! I was happy that they knocked that out of the park. Chicken was perfectly seasoned, the white rice was more than just a basic white rice. It had mix veggies in it which was tasty. For me the most important item when eating Peruvian chicken is the green spicy sauce. I fall in love when the green sauce is good. Their's is good!! It is just the right amount of spice and has the perfect consistency. I got super excited when I saw they sold it in little bottles to take home for $3. That's what you call a win. I'm hoping in time they get things moving a bit smoother. I'm a fan and am happy to have found my new Peruvian chicken spot!

Yelp
HUGE portions and moist, tasty chicken! Ordered pick up, but service was fast and friendly. Clean, quaint set up, not that big of a space. We ordered the fried rice, which was a fusion of flavors. I recommend sticking with the plain rice, which still has veggies mixed in. The plantains were my favorite side dish. Definitely will be back for more soon!
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
Really good chicken! The only downside is that since it is authentic rotisserie chicken, some of the items where they shred it for you can have bones in them. I have discovered one instance of a bone in my Chicken Burrito and another a very hard inedible piece of cartilage. Would be nice if they were a bit more careful, children could choke on that kind of thing. But the flavors are delicious, and this location has Churros which are also good but a bit pricey.
google avatar

Kim H.

Yelp
This is pretty decent Peruvian restaurant in a strip mall. You can dine-in or carry out. There's about 12 tables available and a few seats available on the wall. I tried the lomo saltado. The steak was okay, but some pieces were a bit too chewy. It had a pretty good flavor, but could've used more onions. The service is pretty quick and the staff is friendly. I'll be back to try some other menu items. Urueuurr

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I was in the area and seen they just opened this spot. I def can say it's better than the falls church location. The food is good here but certain things are over priced. A small tube of sauce cost $4. The yuca balls were so good!

Ashley F.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Definitely one of the best Peruvian chicken I've ever tasted. Love the Customer service especially the lady who helped me ana. Will definitely be coming back
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
There's no real reason to explain why I'm so addicted to this place. I keep dragging people back here too. I just think it's impressive to keep a chicken that warm and tender, even after hauling it out of a 15 minute drive in the dead of winter.
google avatar

Brooklyn B.

Yelp
Love when everything is proper! Service with a smile, nice and clean and yes even the bathroom is clean. Chicken nice and tender, plantains just right...beans mildly seasoned but perfect texture. I passed this place too many times and decided to drop in today; good choice. Will be back again. My bad on the food pic dug in as soon as I sat down...
google avatar

Tracy N.

Yelp
This new Peruvian joint in Kingstowne is gooodt! I ordered the 1/4 dark meat chicken with two sides - fried rice and yucca. It was hot and delicious. And the sauces really enhanced it all. I will surely try some other entrees next time because everything looked gooodt on the menu.
google avatar

Diego C.

Yelp
I had a chicken burrito and one order of plantains. They were delicious. Service was good and attentive. Feels like a dine-in fast food restaurant.

Elaina W.

Yelp
Huge portions. 1/4 chicken is way more than enough for me with two sides and the price is very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
This is my favorite pollo place ever and with really good sides. Inca cola is a must with charcoal chicken.
google avatar

Angelica M.

Yelp
This time I did a pick up order and the food was so amazing!! The Chicken was so tender, the white rice with the black beans so good, and the pasta salad was so taste! Always a delicious meal at Spin Pollo. Love it!!
google avatar

Monai D.

Yelp
9/10 recommend. I do believe they just opened, as there was a sign on the door that stated "please be patient our staff is in training". With that being said, there was a little bit of a wait for your food, around 10-20 mins BUT it was worth it. I tried the Lomo Saltado and omg!! So good. I was skeptical about the fries being in the meal, but it turned out to be okay. But once they sat in the sauce for a while, I stopped caring for them but other than that, that meal was top tier. I ordered a side of beans to go with my meal. All of that cost about $23, but it was worth it me. I'll def be back in the future.
google avatar

Brad D.

Yelp
Fun modern feel inside, the chicken is amazing and their sauces are really good. Staff is always nice and the wait's never long.
google avatar

Hank T.

Yelp
Since this place just opened we wanted to try as much as we could. The chicken was perfect, fries were alright but lacked flavor, and pasta salad was like what you'd buy at Giant. Decided to get adventurous and try out the Spin Salchipapas. If you've ever had a hot dog and fries you get the idea. It was hands down one of the worst things I've ever eaten. Everything else though, was awesome. Staff was amazing, food was great, and timely. Not sure I'd make it a regular place, but would never turn it down.

Jerry G.

Yelp
Peruvian chicken at its best. Crispy, marinated chicken with fries is a great take out dinner. The chicken is roasted and moist. We enjoy this chicken
google avatar

Nisha S.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with rice and chicken, at least I used to think like this; thankfully this wasn't that place. Rice is great, chicken thighs were juicy, and the yellow sauce is always my go to at Peruvian places. I didn't like that they were out of Inca Kola, that's why a star is missing.
google avatar

Chris I.

Yelp
Best, most consistent Peruvian chicken place in the area. The chicken is amazing and fresh. Yucca is always crispy and never stale. Onion salad, which I made fun of my wife for ordering, is one of my favorites. Bright and delicious. Chicken and cheese sub - soooo good, but real greasy so just know that. But it's awesome. Yucca balls are great, too. If you and someone else are eating, I recommend getting the whole chicken and it comes with 2 large sides.
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant and there are plenty of options. I had the chicken and two sides. Lots of food and it was very good. Service was fast and the place while small was cute. I will be going back.
google avatar

Tracey X.

Yelp
I should have trusted my first instinct and passed. Food was very salty and did not have a true Peruvian taste. Expensive for mediocre food.
google avatar

Karina M.

Yelp
I was so immensely impressed by the chicken from here this evening, I'm actually reviewing the same night. This never happens! We were feeling like Peruvian tonight, and I found this place on Yelp. We decided to give it a shot and do takeout. We ordered a whole chicken, Yuquita Balls, White rice and pinto beans, plantains, and yucca fries. Everything was really well done. Even something as plain as rice and pinto beans - it was so tasty and comforting. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy on the inside. The yucca was really good. I can only imagine that it's great when you dine in because it tasted when brought it home. The yuquita balls were so yummy - smashed yucca with a blend of melted cheeses - honestly, who wouldn't love that? I only wish I had pics but we inhaled the food! We will definitely be going back!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Got the beef Chafua rice, was okay. Tasted a little bland, but wasn't terrible. GF got Dark meat chicken legs, with the steamed veggies, plaintains with yellow, green, and secret sauce. The yellow and secret sauces were both good. Her chicken was good too, she didn't care for their steamed veggies though and the plaintains were just okay. I would try the place again but likely wouldn't get the dish i did.
google avatar

Elena I.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and it won't be the last. I had a chicken burrito with yucca fries! So much flavor and so fresh.
google avatar

Luis C.

Yelp
"Too all my Peruvian family's" We recently came to this place to check it out and it was a result of disappointment we tried the lomo sandwich and it was bland no flavor once so ever. We were thinking of order there ceviche due to the portion size we also disappointing. So we didn't order it. I will not be coming back. This place is not an official authentic Peruvian restaurant, food really doesn't have that much flavor as we Peruvian put in our food. This place is like an Americanized Peruvian joke.
google avatar

Crystle M.

Yelp
This is my second visit here. The food is full of flavor & the staff is polite & patient with you. The line may be a little slow at times but as the sign says "the staff is in training so please have patience" we didn't wait long at all! But trust, the food was worth the wait. we will return again.
google avatar

Patty L.

Yelp
New place and they are working out the kinks. If you order online for pickup, don't pay attention to the message you get to text the business when you arrive. They don't have that worked out. The chicken was great. Mac & cheese is a pass, but had to try it. The Pollo Saltado was unfortunately had dry and grainy chicken. The sauces were da bomb. Yucca fries were doughy, but they still disappeared from the plate when dipped in those sauces. A combo of the spicy green sauce and the yellow sauce is pretty perfect. 4 stars given not for the food, but for the effort in getting a business off the ground. I look forward to going back when they smooth out the service.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Family run Peruvian restaurant with delicious, authentic, (to my gringo tastes) cuisine. The chicken is succulent, but the Lomo Saltado is my favorite, with a generous portion of green sauce. The staff is friendly, and the food is fresh. Highly recommend for eat-in or take out.
