My husband and I travel all over the world. We have stayed at some very nice hotels in America as well as Europe, but I can honestly say that this is one of the nicest based on the accommodations and the view. Our room directly overlooks Monterey Bay, and we are close enough that we watch the sea otters, seals and sea lions playing in the water at different times of the day. Our room is spacious with the window seat overlooking the water. We have a fireplace and two comfortable chairs to sit near it. The continental breakfast, which is delivered every morning is very enjoyable. All of this wouldn’t have been as wonderful had it not been for RobAnn. She is the front desk manager and she corrected an issue that had been created by Booking.com, a company I would never use again. We had booked an oceanfront room back in January and Booking.com changed our accommodations to a street view. We were never made aware until a few days before we arrived. I was extremely upset but when we got to the hotel and told Rob Ann about the problem, she did everything in her power to get us the ocean front room that we had originally booked. We truly enjoyed our room and spend a lot of our time watching the sea life, which was very active right outside our windows. We were particularly taken with the sea otter that we named Rocky who is out there every day, floating and diving for his clams and abalone. Rob Ann is a tremendous asset to the hotel and we will never forget the fact that she helped us get to the room that we so much enjoyed.

We stayed here for our anniversary and it was great. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The valet system is a bit odd because of the parking situation, but feels very fancy and high class. We'll definitely be back!

Google
The location is good in regard to it being right in the new part of town and by the aquarium but it’s a trolly ride (free) to the historic part of town. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and nice and ours had a gas fireplace and nice bay window with comfy cushions. The bathroom is big and roomy so you can spread out. But it is all pretty dated and banged up and really needs the walls painted, at the very least, and the upholstery refreshed. The wine hour was just ok. Valet parking was necessary given the location and they were quick to get you car, $40/night. Breakfast was slim pickings with the boiled eggs cold therefore not good and the fruit tasteless.

Google
Front desk is very nice, but no air conditioner in the rooms, and it got pretty hot, even with the window open. Also, be warned, they advertise prices before taxes and fees, unlike most major other hotels in the area. So, expect a sticker shock and do not take their prices are "all-in" prices. Instead, they are still doing "drip pricing". I reached out to their manager to correct the bill to the advertised price, but they said the law does not require them to do this. I recommend staying at Intercontinental or one of the more honest players in the area.

Google
Positive: The location and corner room with ocean view. Hotel employee was excellent as there was an issue with our reservation and she provided an excellent solution. Negative: The wine happy hour could have a little more variety of cheese and crackers as it was very limited and not a lot of offering. The wine was closely guarded behind the front desk area too.

We had a really pleasant stay at the Spindrift Inn. We mentioned that we had just gotten married, and they sent a bottle of wine up to the room, plus got us in prior to the listed check-in time. The view over Monterey Bay we amazing, and we saw numerous otters/sea lions/distant whales during our stay. Unfortunately, the windows opened only a few inches (not at all like the pics on the website, see pic comparisons below), and were quite dirty. We actually spend a fair amount of time trying to clean the windows with Windex wipes in order to improve the view. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was sufficient. We got food from the downstairs restaurant Lalla one night and it was delicious, especially being able to eat while watching 7 otters on the water below our window! Staff was very pleasant, especially Diana at the front desk. We will stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here as part of our Honeymoon road trip and we're so glad we picked here. A fantastic hotel with brilliant service and an incredible view from our room looking over the bay. The complimentary wine and snacks in the evening is a brilliant touch and we felt it showed the staff really do appreciate their customers. We even got a bottle of wine and a lovely written note to help us celebrate our special occasion.

This is our second visit to Monterey, on our way to Big Sur for a retreat at the Esalen Center. Because of our first experience, we chose to stay at the Spindrift Inn again…for a total of three nights (one on our way to Esalen, and two nights prior to flying home). This hotel is remarkable! The accommodations are superb…right down to the bay window with binoculars to watch the sea otters playing in the ocean (my favorite activity)! The staff are incredible! When we checked out the first night, they asked if we had any requests for our returning stay. They provided chamomile tea, extra bedding, and even a couple designer chocolates with a handwritten “Welcome Back” note in our room. I highly recommend this Inn for anyone wanting a special experience.

Yelp
A boutique hotel located in the middle of Cannery Row, overlooking the bay with a small beach. Our room was an ocean view queen room with a fireplace. You get a continental breakfast delivered to your room every morning and if you want it, the attached restaurant does room service. You have a coffee pot (Kuerig) and refrigerator in the room, with real glasses, wine and drinking, as well as a wine opener. There is a window seat (windows open to enjoy the breeze and sound of the waves), and supplied binoculars so we were able to enjoy watching otters and seals play. Sadly no whales sight this time. Staff is all super friendly and helpful

Yelp
I have always wanted to stay here since I was a kid. Finally tried it out in my 40's for our anniversary. It's a very charming hotel that has kept its vintage vibe while also being very clean and comfortable. It was so nice for us to be able to disconnect and open our room window onto the beach in our robes with a fire going. Can't beat that. Loved the complimentary room service breakfast as well. One less thing to worry about. The workers, specifically the valets, were also super nice and accommodating. We will definitely stay again someday.

Bobby M.

Yelp
Had a great quick visit again to the Spindrift. This time we had a Cannery Row balcony room. Was great to sit and people watch but the Ocean Front rooms are definitely a better view. Staff is always great and the valet/bell guys are great! Continental breakfast leaves a bit to be desired but lots of great breakfast places nearby so really not a big issue.

Yelp
My mom and I came to Monterey for a few days on a little mother/daughter trip and stayed at the spindrift inn. The room we had was facing Cannery row and had a king size bed and even a sauna in the bathroom which was pretty neat- room 411! Pros: They have 3 pillow options based on firmness, complimentary wine and cheese in lobby every day from 4:30-6 and location is prime being super close to a lot of shops and restaurants making it easily walkable. They also offered a little breakfast of egg, yogurt, coffee and pastry which was nice. The staff was polite and always greeted us when we entered the hotel. Jude was especially awesome! He helped with our luggage to the room on arrival and was very personable. Cons: The downside to the street facing windows was at night you hear people coming and going a lot and early in the morning all the businesses get their deliveries and the garbage truck comes by so it's pretty noisy. I think next time I would pay the extra $$ to be on the ocean view side of the hotel. I would stay here again!! I loved our time here , I docked a star because of the noise

Sydney S.

Yelp
Unlike some properties, the spindrift inn is just as, if not more, magical in person as it is online. The location is incredible and they also have a complimentary wine/cheese bar every afternoon. Within the top 3 places I've ever stayed at and would stay again a million times over.

Dan S.

Yelp
This is not all about the hotel its self. We have stayed at the Spindrift Inn's for many years as a get away and to take the Grandchildren for a weekend. We have tried over the past two weeks to apply "The Guestbook" points to no avail... We stayed at The Spindrift Inn 8/24 and by October - still no points. When questioned -it was our issue to report our stay. This became time consuming and frustrating as the front desk said to call reservations and reservations said call the front desk. gave up. Mr B: Please re-think your policies Incredibly Disappointed Customer- Daniel & Sue Stucker

Yelp
First time staying at this inn. Location is fantastic, walking distance to everything from restaurants and shops to a 5 min walk to the aquarium. Lots of restaurants on the strip but it is a bit pricey since it's a touristy location. The staff at the inn is very courteous, helpful, and professional. 10/10 for the staff. The bedding and the room itself is up to par. It's a older inn so don't expect perfection. I would give it a 8/10 for the room. The fireplace is a nice feature to enjoy. Love the nice fresh air from the big windows. Please note that there is no heater or AC in any of the rooms. Our stay does include free breakfast: hard boiled eggs, drinks, yogurt, cereal, some fresh fruits and pastries. Nothing overwhelming but a nice little morning snack. In the afternoon from 4-6pm they offer complimentary wine and cheese in the lobby. Overall we would stay here again since it meets all of our expectations and needs. We will try the ocean view next time

Stef B.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful room, very comfortable bed with lots of pillows beautiful view of the ocean. Absolutely absolutely amazing. I will definitely stay again.

Britny S.

Yelp
Best experience that we could have asked for on our honeymoon. All employees went above and beyond. The room was beautiful with an amazing ocean view. They provided binoculars so we got to see sea lions, otters, orcas and even a humpback whale all from our room window. The wine and cheese reception is such a great perk. Spindrift far exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to come back one day.

Perla Z.

Yelp
If you're contemplating going to Monterey, 10/10 recommend! The ocean view room is a splurge but totally worth it. The vibes and feels of this place were wonderful. They have great service! Free continental breakfast is brought up to your room. They have dry cleaning, and even a pillow service! Our room had a fireplace, which we used. It is walking distance to the aquarium and so many places to eat! We went to eat Hula's Tiki and Lalla's, both were so good.

Iliana Z.

Yelp
The Spindrift Inn is a lovely place to stay and in a conveniently located area with many places to eat and activities to do. My fiancé proposed just about an hour before we arrived and the lady at the front desk was so nice. We got a complimentary bottle of wine and a room upgrade for a great price. We were able to enjoy our stay with stunning views of the beach. It really was the highlight of our vacation being able to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the waves. Staff here was amazing, helpful and very nice. They also offer complimentary breakfast, you would just need to fill a paper they give you and leave it on your door before a certain time. As well as wine, cheese and crackers in the lobby around 4-6pm. We requested for them to bring to our room and there was no problem at all. Whenever we had requests they would bring it to us promptly. Rooms also have a fireplace with a timer, and when the weather gets cold at night it is such a comfortable addition! Although staying here can be expensive I would absolutely stay here again, it is worth the price and such a nice place to get away and relax!

Katie Z.

Yelp
Got the Double queen water view , asked for a higher floor and they accommodated without issue. better than the pictures on their site!

Neo E.

Yelp
Spent four delightful days at the Spindrift! The staff is super friendly! The rooms are quaint and cozy! The daily breakfast delivery and wine social in the evening are wonderful bonus amenities! The seaside ocean rooms have a stellar view. We could see otters playing in the surf and even spotted dolphins swimming by. And there is a small beach right outside! The location is perfectly positioned in the middle of all the best places in town. The aquarium is a five minute walk away and the whale watching boats at Fisherman's Wharf are only a mile down the road. There are also great seaside hikes nearby. And no shortage of yummy restaurants all around. This was my first stay but certainly won't be my last! FIVE STARS!!!

Marie M.

Yelp
We had the most amazing experience at Sprindrift! The staff were so nice, especially Michelle and Diana. It was also a beautiful place to stay. So close to everything you would want to do in Monterey. The hotel staff went above and beyond my expectations. It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and they upgraded us to an ocean view room. The views were out of this world. And they left the sweetest note with a bottle of wine and a rose. It was such a pleasant surprise that the staff did that for us. The service was amazing, they make you feel like you're the only ones staying there. They also give you a wonderful complimentary breakfast tray, literally served on a silver platter, of fruit, coffee, pastries, boiled eggs and even cereal. They also have complimentary wine and cheese in the lobby nightly from 4:30-6pm. This is a such a nice touch.

Michele B.

Yelp
Beautiful spacious room. Overlooking the Monterey Bay. Front Desk person was friendly and even though we were there early, held our bags so we could walk around. Nice wine & cheese hour each evening.

Alyssa R.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night and had a great stay. The valet staff was quick in retrieving our car, and the front desk staff was very welcoming. I loved the fireplace in our room and liked that the tv had casting capabilities. The bed was a little too firm for us, but that's just a personal preference. Although you can tell the room is a little dated and on the older side, it was still very cute, cozy, and the hotel is in a prime location so definitely worth trying.

Jasmin G.

Yelp
Such a Great & Beautiful Hotel , Staff are friendly and respectful. Would recommend staying here every time . This is a Response To "Chris G" Nick was "Excellent , Very kind and Thoughtful" . This was around 2am .I was in Rm#105 which is in the lobby. You guys kept laughing and talking loud. And he told you guys respectfully if you guys can keep it down. And you guys continued to laugh and be disrespectful to him and other people that stay in this hotel. Which you guys woke up my newborn baby . Then I called to complain and thats when you guys decided to leave . Grown People Acting Like Children!!!!! So next time don't spread false information. People pay a lot of money here so be cautious and mindful of others . Thank you

Christina CB B.

Yelp
Staff was so amazing! S/O to the front desk lady who's name I forgot but it starts with a R. We'll call her "friend" for now! I want to also S/O Ethan who helped us with our bags and was there whenever we needed him! Thank you both for such amazing customer service! Now when it comes to the stay!... I'd like to say not having air in your rooms is kinda weird! But with all the windows we got through it! S/o to your amazing house keepers who do such a good job even tho not being asked. If I can eat my stay out of 10 it's definitely give it a 9/10! And it's because of the staff

Dean R.

Yelp
Wonderful Location, Wonderful Hotel, Ans most important , a Wonderful Staff , We had a great time , I will never stay anywhere but here , If you want to enjoy your time in Monterey this is place .

Camille S.

Yelp
The property itself is quant and beautiful. You feel like you stepped back to a time of character and class. The bay window was my favorite spot to watch the sunrise and the ocean beam with life. The staff was very nice and accommodating the entire stay. We forgot to put out our breakfast request but they filled it anyway! Great staff here and we are definitely coming back.

Marcie F.

Yelp
We stayed at the Spindrift Inn in early February when we came for the Pro-Am at Pebble Beach. We upgraded our room to waterfront and that was one of the best decisions we've ever made. It was our first trip to California and we will never forget it. I think about it often and hope one day we can make it back. The hotel is so quiet, not just at night but all the time. Very relaxing. The rooms are gorgeous and the furniture is comfortable. We loved it so much that we couldn't wait to get back to it at night where we could put on the nice thick robes and sit in the window and listen to the waves. In the morning we would sit in the window and drink our coffee while we watched the otters play. The otters! I have a new love for otters now. The fireplace cra perfect atmosphere. This will go down as one of our favorite vacations ever.

Yelp
Incredible stay & experience! We were looking for a hotel near Cannery Row in Monterey so that we'd have access to a variety of restaurants within walking distance and stumbled upon the Spindrift Inn. Service: Impeccable. They offer a complimentary simple breakfast delivered to your room on an adorable silver platter. Had a "pillow bar" to choose from a selection of additional pillows with varying firmness and fill. They offer valet parking which is handy. Room: The cozy, Bridgerton-esque room of your dreams complete with a fireplace that we used throughout our stay (Monterey gets chilly!). The windows open, and the little bench is perfect for spotting otters! (Binoculars are included with the room). The king sized bed is firm and very comfortable, while the views are top-notch and a way better value than other equivalent nearby hotels IMO. The decor is classically but very tastefully decorated, including unexpected little details like a vaulted ceiling with a skylight, marble details, and sconces galore. Location: in the heart of Cannery Row, so definitely touristy but in a cute way. A super family friendly area with tons of activities and candy stores for little ones. I can only speak for the ocean view rooms, but noise was not an issue at all. Also be sure to check out some of the nearby tasting rooms like the wine experience which is right next door!

Vicki F.

Yelp
Ocean view was awesome! Listening to the waves at all night was the best! Highly recommend the king room with the ocean view. The staff was all very nice and accommodating! We were given a bottle of wine and chocolates for our anniversary. Wine and cheese in the afternoon and continental breakfast in the room in the morning. We'll be back soon I hope!

Tammy T.

Yelp
Newly remodeled vintage charm..so clean and just a darling place. My room had incredible views of the water. I love the fireplace and love the window seat. The Seagull's love sitting on the window when you open it. Be careful not to open too wide or they might fly in. We arrived to a birthday card and truffles for my daughter. Incredible service! Friendly staff! Very comfortable beds.

Heady M.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary in October of 2021! The staff was great the followed all COVID protocols that were required for the county. From the time we made the reservations to the champagne and wine and Jamesons and the roses and chocolates to the breakfast was awesome! The staff was welcoming and we enjoyed our conversations with them! We had a a room facing cannery row which believe it or not didn't really hear Much noise! The windowed opened kind of worried me with no screens for children but honestly I don't think this Is a place for kids! Loved sitting on the window bench in the afternoon resting and reading or at night having a nice drink by the fire and watching people on the street. Room was small but well done I would stay here again

TK N.

Yelp
It is older but don't let that fool you because it is absolutely delightful. The staff was top notch. They were friendly, helpful, delightful, and very accommodating. We loved the breakfast that was included as well as the wine and cheese hour. We can't wait to stay here again!

Yelp
The front desk receptionist the day we went (on June 28,2024 ) was very unpleasant and she seemed unhappy. I had reservation for 4 people including breakfast. In their website it says breakfast included so for the convenience I chose the Spindrift hotel. In the morning 4 of us came downstairs and asked where is the breakfast area and the unpleasant lady with anger said "didn't you filled out the breakfast paper? What breakfast paper? We asked and she said in your room, you should've filled out what you want for breakfast the night before! We were surprised what is she talking about? So we found out that they have no breakfast area, no kitchen and we had to go to the ridiculous menu with her to have our breakfast in the room!!!! So we asked for scrambled egg and they only had hard broiled eggs and we said what about bread? and the very unhappy unpleasant lady with looking down at us said "pastry is bread" so they brought breakfast like you are in the hospital in the tray only for 2 people. It was 2 broiled eggs wrapped in a plastic and 2 muffins, 2 croissants , 2 cups and 2 napkins and we stayed in our room to eat the ridiculous breakfast on the small table which fits 2 people. When we complained about the awful breakfast and why they didn't put the fact that they serve the awful breakfast in the room? The vey very unpleasant and unhappy lady said " people love to eat their breakfast in the room front of fireplace! The fireplace was like a show not working and the bathroom toilet was leaking. Their toiletry like shampoos were so small that was not enough for one person and it was 4 of us. Their service was not as promised and we all were still very unhappy with everything in the Spindrift hotel . I suggest you find some other hotel because the Spindrift is awful. I don't recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I had a very unpleasant encounter recently with a front desk worker at the hotel. Despite our group conversing at a normal volume in the lobby, the worker addressed us rudely asking us to keep it down, as if we were drunk and disorderly (which couldn't be further from reality). We were again addressed rudely when he asked if we were hotel guests, which a member of our group was. After asking us to lower our voices, he claimed to receive a noise complaint just a few minutes later, but we noticed (via the mirror in the lobby) that he was on his cell phone during this alleged call. While we understand and respect the hotel's noise policy, the assumptions and rude attitude from the desk agent were unwarranted. We were unfairly treated, as if we were unruly teenagers instead of respectful adults simply chatting with a guest. This experience fell short of what one would expect from a 4-star hotel. If management decides to reply to this post, please check any security footage from your hotel lobby this past weekend first and it will confirm my account.

Michaelangelo P.

Yelp
This hotel is perfect. We spent the 3rd day of our honeymoon here and I promise we will be back. The room was cozy and the team that works there is so nice!! If you want a fireplace, bay window with waves crashing on the other side and a comfy bed, this is your place!! It's right in the heart of Cannery Row, so you can leave the hotel and be right in the action. Too fun. Looking forward to coming back soon!!

Mike ..

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE! Aside from the hideous decor, they don't have parking. Why does this matter? Because they also don't have any agreement with the city to load your car IN THEIR DESIGNATED LOADING ZONE. I got a ticket in the 3 minutes it took to go to my room to get my bags. Part of the problem is the valet was not outside. Ethan, the valet told me he was "making the schedule". Which was told to me with a smirk on his face. Well maybe you should make sure your guests don't get tickets Ethan. Spotty service all around. Also no air conditioning in the rooms! They tell you to open your window. Apparently no one has told them it's 2024. It's also VERY loud with the windows open since it's on the main street. And if you have a kid forget it unless you're cool with a wide open window on the third floor (in my case). Is that even legal? Steer clear.

Bruce H.

Yelp
I stayed at Spindrift years ago and loved it, this time not so much. There was an uncovered electrical junction box in the bathroom ceiling, some fixtures in the bathroom showed undo wear, and one door of the closet would not open. There was a rose on the table that was wilted and turning brown. Maybe some of this could be overlooked in a bargain motel but this place is not cheap. Yes they made an adjustment to our bill, in fact they seemed to be making adjustments for a few other guests as well.

Phuong N.

Yelp
We booked the King Fireplace Ocean View for our anniversary. The room is just as the pictures on the website. This room was comfortable and everything about it was cute. The service from check in, room service, valet and check out is top notch. A complimentary breakfast was delivered to our room. We enjoyed it by the window listening to the sound of the waves and with the fireplace on. It's a simple breakfast, nothing extraordinary. They also have a complimentary wine and cheese in the lobby from 4:30p-6p. Center of Cannery Row and walking distance to everything. I can't express how much the service here and the staff here are all wonderful.

Alyson E.

Yelp
pros: valet is $34 walking distance to the aquarium clean! real gas fireplace balcony looking over cannery row with chairs outside continental breakfast served in room! excellent customer service cons: no microwave balcony curtains don't have a sheer option so people can see into your room no fan in bathroom breakfast is missing bacon/sausage and waffles/pancakes

Kerri E.

Yelp
Most amazing stay in Monterey! Beautiful hotel with valet service, managers wine and cheese reception, silver service breakfast in bed, and a pillow menu! Absolutely a wonderful hotel! The staff was superb! You couldn't choose a better hotel in Cannery Row! Thank you for a memorable experience

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I totally recommend this hotel the employees were very nice greeted us every time they seen us . Room is exactly what I expected. Comfortable bed pillows. Beautiful view I definitely will be back! Thank you Isiah with helping us with our luggage you were very helpful to getting us situated. Keep up the good service.

Brittany S.

Yelp
Cannot say enough amazing things about Spindrift Inn! The location, staff and accommodations were all top notch and completely exceeded our expectations :) Diana (at the front desk) went above and beyond to help us secure a room at the hotel and provided great insight into how to manage the third party booking that we wanted to adjust. William, the valet, was phenomenal, attentive, kind, knowledgable and helpful -- such a great face to see each night upon returning to our hotel. 10/10 would come back again for all the reasons above and more :)

PJ A.

Yelp
Great weekend getaway great location and hotel. They should clean out the stair area next to the shops.

Phil C.

Yelp
Beautiful location. Stayed four nights for a total of $1800.00. My card was charged multiple times (4 x $2300=$9200) .and was told not to worry these charges would fall off before we left. Upon leaving they charged my card for the final total. My card started getting denied and was now over limit. I have called multiple times and been told over and over that they don't see these holds. (I was told by my credit card company they are supposed to re-credit these not just clear them). Two of the holds have dropped off after 2 weeks. the last two are supposed to drop off on the third of next month! Thanks for nothing, will never stay there again.

Ashley M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at the Spindrift. It's conveniently located on Cannery Row close to lots of restaurants and shops. Loved our corner room that had a view of cannery row as well as the ocean. The staff were all super nice when we checked in and throughout our stay. They left us a little box of chocolates and a sweet note in our room. Yes, there is a valet parking fee but they make it so convenient. You can call down for your car so it's ready to go by the time you get downstairs. We enjoyed the complimentary wine hour and continental breakfast. You fill out a little card on what you would like for breakfast and what time and they deliver the next morning. On certain days they also have snacks to go with the wine. They also allow guests to hang out on the roof to enjoy the view. It's a nice place to enjoy your breakfast. Looking forward to our next stay.

Anna H.

Yelp
What a beautiful hotel! Our view overlooking the ocean was priceless! And the canopy bed and arm chairs in front of the fireplace made us feel like royalty. Our only complaint is that the breakfast was small, with minimal and bland options, disappointing us for what we paid for the hotel. Overall we had a great experience though!

Sandra N.

Yelp
We had a fabulous time during our stay! This boutique hotel bed & breakfast was a great way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! The staff were excellent and even made our reservation to a wonderful restaurant to celebrate our special day! The service of our morning breakfast was delivered to our room daily where we enjoyed a spectacular view of the beach! The window seats were my favorite resting spot and the fireplace kept us warm even with having a window open to hear the birds and sounds of the ocean! In the heart of Cannery Row, plenty of cute stores & shops to walk around and visit including the Monterey Aquarium! Will definitely return!

Kelli O.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, the service was over the top from the valet to the front desk, the maid and wait staff...every single person was so nice! The breakfast was delicious (brought to our room!) and the wine in the afternoon was good too. The view from the room was amazing with a comfy bed, a push button fireplace, and clean, clean, clean with comfortable chairs and sitting areas. If you want to spoil yourself and your loved ones, book a long weekend here the next time you visit Monterey!

Matt S.

Yelp
I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars, but giving benefit of the doubt. Staff was exceptionally polite and courteous - everyone. The room was a great value and had a lovely initial feel as we walked in. It's right on the water and the views are breathtaking. It's clearly an old building, and the interior condition could use some love - fit and finish was a bit rough! My biggest complaints were probably specific to our room (201). There was loud music from our time of checkin (4ish) until 10ish at night from the restaurant directly downstairs - definitely a bit of a bummer! The other issue wouldn't be an issue if we didn't have kids, but the awesome widows facing the ocean don't all lock. No children were harmed in the making of this review, but the potential is there - so keep an eye out!

Yelp
What more could you want than a beautiful and spacious hotel room on the water in walking distance of a world class aquarium and lots of restaurants. This was our third stay and we were upgraded to a room overlooking the small beach below and the Monterey Bay. All rooms have comfy king beds, a lovely window seat, a gas fireplace and much more. The valets brought our car promptly each time we needed it. Breakfast was plentiful and served on a large tray on the table in our room. The staff were helpful. We will be back any time I can talk my husband into another getaway.

Yelp
Thank you to the staff for making the stay very welcomely and comfy. Enjoyed the view of the room. Thank you for your front desk staff and your other staff who greets when we come in and make us feel notice. The area is nice, stores and restaurants near by. Also the beach is a plus just in front of the hotel and around the corner. Listening to the ocean and seeing it made me feel lost and relaxing. Thank you to the manager duchess for being very supportive and concerning about items we lost during our stay there. I will contact you soon by email but again thank you and your staff for everything.

Yelp
I had a lovely stay at the Spindrift Inn in Monterey during Covid in the month of Oct . I was greeted with a warm smile and felt incredible safe during my stay . You were required to wear a mask and they limit the number of individuals in the elevator . There was a special surprise in my room with a hand written card for my birthday . Monterey wasn't crowded at all and the hotel staff was super accommodating to all my requests . The rooms are very spacious and my favorite part of the hotel other than the comfy bed was the bay windows that overlook the cannery or you can opt for an ocean view . It's nice to sit on the window and watch the crowds and enjoy the complimentary breakfast provided . Breakfast during covid provided included an assortment of muffins , toast , fresh fruit and cheese plate , boiled egg, cereal , milk , teas and coffee . The bathroom products provided were Aveda . The location is so perfect for a easy stay in Monterey with great access to eateries , shopping , the aquarium (was currently closed ) nightlife ,etc . The recreational walk to Pacific grove or the Wharf is just a block away. You can walk on either direction and see great views of the ocean or wharf . It cost $32 a night for valet parking that includes in and out privileges . The hotel staff was very friendly and even took my shopping bags and chilled my wine for me . They provided ice for a cooler that my friend brought as well . If I had one suggestion it would be access to a microwave to re-heat leftovers . There was a fridge in the room but no microwave . I didn't order room service but I did eat next door at the establishment that provides the hotels room service and highly recommend the Shrimp and lobster balls and the chocolate mousses cake . Will for sure return to this hotel on my next stay in Monterey . It's the best location available for a well rounded stay .

Yelp
This was a lovely hotel 20 years ago, but the rooms are showing their age. Check in clerk, unlike check out clerk, was kind but that's where the positivity ended. The room: The balcony door would not lock, the bath faucet dripped constantly, the sink hot faucet was inoperable so no hot water. During check out I attempted to explain this the front desk clerk and was met with animosity. She tried to hold me responsible for not calling maintenance. During Covid, this is not something I want to do or should have to do. When one stays in a " Luxury" Inn, the room should be in working order. To top it off, the valet did not wear a mask while driving my car. Save your money and find a hotel where the guest is valued and the rooms are not shabby. There are many better choices in Monterey.

Yelp
Five-star service from every single person at the Spindrift. The wife and I came to celebrate our anniversary and for a nice weekend away. We had never been here before but we will definitely make the Spindrift our go-to inn whenever we stay in Monterey. It's a quiet and quaint spot that is in a perfect location of Monterey. The friendliness of the staff adds to the warmth of the inn. We arrived a little early but they had our room ready for us. I ordered a bottle of champagne that was there and chilled to perfection for us. Looking out our bedroom windows and seeing Cannery Row on one side and the ocean on the other was incredible. The view was only matched by the comfort of the room and the kindness of the staff. Anything we had questions about or needed, the staff was there with an answer or solution. I can't wait for our next getaway and another stay at the Spindrift Inn.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying this was booked through Hotel Tonight. On our way to Monterey to celebrate a birthday weekend I receive an email and call from Hotel Tonight indicating that the hotel made an oversight and could not accommodate us for our stay....This was very upsetting, as an alternative they offered to place us at Casa Munras in historic Monterey (location was in downtown away from Cannery Row) they indicated that there would be no charge and assured us that breakfast and other amenities available at Victorian Inn would be available at Casa Munras....We thought okay crisis averted but then we received another email and call from Hotel Tonight indicating that Casa Munras didn't have capacity either so they were going to place us at Spindrift Inn but would now be responsible for parking charge. With no other option available we decided Spindrift Inn would work as it placed us back in the area we wanted to be in. To avoid any misunderstanding and surprises I elected to call Spindrift Inn directly to confirm we in fact had a room reserved for us and if there could be any accomodations for the hassles. We were told that they could not waive parking but would be able to split the cost. They indicated that the room would be a king size room with oceanview and balcony. I felt reassured and less irritated. Upon checking in the service was lackluster, we went upstairs to the room and opened the door and it smelled of must and or mildew and it was certainly not an oceanview as it was directly over Cannery Row. I don't know if this is Inns of Monterey's (Monterey Bay Inn, Victorian Inn, Wave Street Inn & Casa Munras) mode of operation but it certainly felt like a bait and switch and I would have appreciated if they were more transparent in their actions rather than tell me one thing on the phone and then let me experience another. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this collection of hotels in Monterey.
