What a great distillery! Came in with a couple of friends who live in Lyons (not the distillery 😄). I had an Old Fashioned, and they ordered a sweeter cocktail—can’t remember the name, but it was tasty. We also sampled a few different whiskeys, all solid. The atmosphere was great, and the service was super attentive. I’ll definitely be back!

We booked Spirit Hound for my son’s rehearsal dinner. We reserved the Tender Bar and patio for hosting dinner for about 60 people. It was a fabulous experience. Samantha and her staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. From the moment we walked up to the door, they just began helping with everything. We had decorations and boxes everywhere and they just jumped in and moved things and began helping put up the decorations and setting up food tables and making everything perfect before caterers and guests arrived. Once catering arrived they set up Additional tables and began serving their signature cocktails to everyone, which were fabulous! My granddaughter who is 9 —they made her feel so special and let her choose her soft drink adding cherries to the drink to make Her feel special and a part of the festivities. The bartenders even stopped and talked to her and asked how she was wearing her hair for the wedding and made suggestions for things to do with wildflowers, etc. they made sure She had a great time and felt special. They helped all the guests feel a part of things and took care of every request, including preparing a gluten free meal for one of our guests who had not let us know it was needed before the event. They helped with clean up and in every way made us all feel so welcome and made sure everyone enjoyed the night and had the best time. We could not have asked for a better experience. When it got really cold later in the evening, they allowed some of our party to filter over to the other side of the bar for space without hesitation. I cannot sing their praises enough. We had so much food left over and we’re happy to share it with Samantha and the staff because they did such an outstanding job. We tipped what is customary but my husband who never tips extra gave them an extra tip and another one of our guests gave them an extra tip as well. It was just that wonderful. If you’re looking for a place to host an event, or just for trying some signature drinks in Lyons, CO, you will love Spirit Hounds!! ❤️❤️❤️

We were unlucky enough to have a clutch cable snap on my motorcycle, but lucky enough that it happened not too far from Spirit Hound. The staff were amazing. They brought us iced water and checked on us while we made towing arrangements (it was super hot outside!). We decided to make the best of a bad thing and wait in the distillery. The cocktails were incredible, the charcuterie was amazing, and the staff and atmosphere were great. Despite the situation, we thoroughly enjoyed our accidental afternoon at Spirit Hound and we look forward to returning on purpose one day soon!

Google
Popped by here on our way to Denver from Estes Park and wow what a cool spot! Service from the first hello and goodbye was infectiously friendly. Drink (Bloody Mary with pepper vodka) was delicious. If I had more time, I would have stayed longer for a tasting. Suuuuper cute dog vibes. They even have a stick station for the pups 😆. 100% recommend stopping in for a drink, tasting, and friendly vibes.

Google
Super friendly and inviting staff and atmosphere. Very casual & welcoming... they treat you as friends, not customers. The cocktails are amazing and they also have nice in-house snacks and scheduled food trucks and music. Great place to hangout and taste some world class whisky!

Google
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the lyons distillery. I am from the south and bourbon is my drink of choice. However, I tried the gin flight and to my absolute pleasure I loved the strawberry basil gin. What a fantastic gin for summer drinks. A gin and tonic will never be the same again. Thank you for this amazing spirit and hospitality!

I’ve come here many times and haven’t had an issue here until this past weekend. I will preface this review by stating that the main/head bartender (dark hair, glasses, very friendly) is lovely and always has been, and the drinks are always fire. Before this weekend I’ve experienced nothing but kindness from the staff here. My acquaintance used to be a manger here back in the day, hence our frequent visits to this establishment. We try to come after most of our big hikes, we love supporting local. The vibes are always great, our dog is always received with great joy and appreciation. However, you lost business this weekend (and possibly forever) solely because of your (busser) and their despicable attitude. It had been at least ten minutes since our drinks were empty, the whole place was kind of dead so I was slightly confused by the delay. We see this staff member (younger girl, tall redhead with glasses) come out to the patio, she completely ignore us, and instead goes to pick up the dirty glasses at the only other table that was previously used. Since she’s incapable of acknowledging our existence for some unbeknownst reason, we decide to reach out to her, asking her for our hostess so we can order another drink. My partner is the one who asked her; she misunderstands what he says at least thrice, asking him to repeat himself and chuckling to herself each time, insinuating that he has a speech impediment, which he definitely does not. It was as though she was on something. At this point the wind picks up and a decorative tree on the patio literally falls on top of me, not once, but twice. The worst part? The busser doesn’t do anything, but rather just stands there and laughs at me. At that point I am absolutely flabbergasted at the unprofessionalism and ask her to get our hostess to close out. Instead of offering to help or literally doing anything, your hostess watched me get attacked by your questionable furniture, and laughed while I was getting hurt by it. That is literally insane and I’m not too sure what would give me reason to return after being treated that way. Clearly a previous issue as there was a misplaced brick that I suppose was meant to hold the awry tree in place. We definitely would have stayed longer and ordered at least another drink if not more. Regardless, the interaction completely soured our experience which is a bummer as we’ve been coming for years.

My partner and I went to see a live music performance at Spirit Hound Distillery this weekend and both really enjoyed it. I liked that the venue was small, clean and smelled like fresh cut wood and banana scented whiskey to me :) I liked the aesthetic of the place - especially the repurposed wood in the ceiling and wall, and Colorado mountain vibe. My partner loved the meal he ordered from the Taste of Poland food truck out front. The music performance by Trouble’s Braids was awesome and I appreciated that it wasn't too loud for me (I have sensitive ears and live Music performances are often too loud for me).

Yelp
Everything thing went well! Well, almost. They were out of the size of sweatshirt my wife wanted. LOL You simply must get a wisky flight to start. The current barrels were great as were the honey & Cafe (coffee) shots. The Margherita pizza is unique as the tomato & basil were chopped fine & spread evenly. Nice touch. The pretzel & dipping sauces were very good too. Bottle line - great place. Enjoy often!

Yelp
We've been here several times now, both before and after the remodeling. Great job on the remodel; it's very attractive, and there's so much more room. The vibe is relaxed and pleasant. I'd leave a better review except for a couple of things. 1. The last time we were there, the waste basket in the bathroom was overflowing. My husband and I both noticed it, and I was not pleased to see those conditions. I understand that staff is busy, but this should not be overlooked. 2. The drinks are not consistent from visit to visit - I recognize that each bartender has their own style, but we had the same two drinks on two separate occasions, and they tasted completely different each time. I want to know that when I order a drink I've enjoyed before, it will be an enjoyable experience each time. Sadly, this last time it was not. I'm not giving up on visiting again, but I hope to see improvements!

Yelp
Insanely good rye whiskey. Came on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. Craig and company were beyond informative and gracious. I am huge into bourbon and this way by far the best experience I have ever have; even with being to Louisville over 6 times.

Yelp
Love it! I'll be short and sweet: 10/10 recommend! Indoor/Outdoor seating Amazing cocktails Friendly, knowledgeable staff Relaxed atmosphere Food menu & food truck Outdoor fire pit and lawn games Everything here is great and these were some of the tastiest, refreshing cocktails that still packed a punch: Tipsy Peach, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and something special the bartender whipped up because they were out of the Earl Grey one I had been eyeing. Everything was delicious and it's no wonder they've won a bunch of awards - the quality is excellent.

Yelp
Arooo! Arooo! Arooo! Three cheers for the two-legged hounds that run, make and distribute this fine liquor. It's reBARKable! ;D In my prior review, I said how this place will get your leg kicking with enjoyment. From the liquor offered to the down-to-earth atmosphere and service, you'll feel like a dog at a dog park." It's all still 100% true and... you should 100% try their Whiskey Sour!

Yelp
I can't say enough good about this place. We got to talk to one of the owner/distillers and he was a really cool guy. Our bartender was amazing, she would make a drink and give a little sample to us, mainly the wifey since she isn't a whiskey fan. I had a flight of whiskeys and we just relaxed and talked with our bartender. She gave me a couple other little samples and one of their bourbons just hit all the notes so had to get a bottle to take back home. They sell online too, so if you are able to order where you live I suggest trying them out. Also they are very dog friendly, with dog bowls outside and a barrel of sticks for them too.

Yelp
What a fun group of folks, who also know how to make a mean cocktail or three. I've had Spirit Hound Distillers bookmarked for quite some time and finally discovered why they rate an almost perfect 5 stars. We laughed and laughed with Reese, one of their bartenders. He was awesome. He can make a mean, spicy Whiskey Sour while telling you about their barrel aged spirits and the subtle differences that emerge as you allow the whisky to remain in the barrels for longer periods of time. The space itself was really well done and a second bar had just opened, to expand their offerings and space. Parking was a breeze and had it not been so cold, we would've enjoyed their large outdoor seating area. A shout out to their fun menu, dog themed categories and cool touches around the bar. Clever, very clever. If you're a local, you are spoiled. You already know how good this place is. If you're like us, def make the drive. It was such a treat. We will be retuning!

Yelp
Stopped here with a group of five after Rocky Mountain. My husband and I got married at Lyon's Farmette right across the highway so I had been meaning to check out this place and I'm glad we did! When we got there, there was only bar seating as they were under construction to expand (said in about two weeks additional space will be ready). The bartender was super accommodating and friendly, and good at recommending drinks. I got the 5 spice whisky sour which was super smooth and not overpoweringly whiskey for me; my husband got the aviation which was delicious with gin and cherry. Also his drink was $10 which is a steal?!? Excited to try out their Denver location too on Tejon. The interior where we sat was super cute - I liked the wood panel walls and fairy lights. Will definitely be back when we're passing through or in Lyons.

Yelp
Have enjoyed their spirits for a bit now and been here indoors twice for a drink. I like the atmosphere. On the weekends theirs a food truck. Inside is snack food chips and pretzels bits which were simple but delicious nonetheless. Several nice high end whiskeys. Good fight options and standard mixed drinks. Great service and great local distillery

Yelp
Loved this place in its old incarnation but the revamp is really awesome. Great vibe. Of course, the spirits are as good as always if not better. The bartenders are excellent and the drink menu is fun and delicious. Of course, you can take home a bottle or two for your home bar and their own creations are much better than most of the big commercial distilleries. Food trucks are a great addition. Looks like from the notices on the wall that they have lots of things going on.

Ted S.

Yelp
Incredible daiquiri and relaxing environment with great service. While the menu is small the Gluten Free cheese plate was an excellent choice. So nice to have a dog friendly pit stop.

Yelp
We were driving around Colorado just taking in the scenery. We decided to stop here because I fancied a tasting. The tasting room is nice. A big window into the distillery gives you a good look at the operations. Staff was friendly. Flight was nice. We had some nibbles. Really nice stuff, but price point + checking luggage didn't add up to buying anything.

Brian N.

Yelp
We made a Friday afternoon trip to Lyons to sample their whiskey. The tasting room was crowded, but the owner/distiller greeted us and made sure someone took our order promptly. The cocktails we ordered were very good.

Yelp
Spirit Hound was a blast! I've driven by so many times going to Rocky NP and never tried it. Well, I drove to a lyons for a different sale last Saturday, and decided to swing by! They have a nice large building, with a sweet taproom and large outdoor area. I especially enjoyed the food truck next door, and thought the wings were great! I got a sweet Cherry Lemon type drink, with special cherry liquor. They actually have quite a few cherry drinks from the well. I thought mine was fantastic and definitely had a nice flavor. Not too alcoholic but still a good buzz! I enjoyed their back patio, and the servers were friendly! I'll be back soon after a national park day!

Yelp
Great cocktails, food and service! You can buy bottles here of all their products! Highly recommend, don't miss it on your way to the mountains! The tasting room was beautiful but we chose to sit out in the patio with our dog. The heaters were lovely in the cooler weather and we had a great time.

Ty H.

Yelp
I love this place. Try one of their award-winning whiskeys neat or in any one of the delicious cocktails they make. Schedule a tour of the distillery if you can, or check out live music on the patio on Sundays. The people here are great as well. Don't pass through Lyons without stopping here!
google avatar

Samantha A.

Yelp
Love this little place. Don't be deterred by the construction. The tasting room is still open. The bartender was very attentive and offered suggestions as needed. The cocktails are delicious and unique. There's something for everyone here from whisky to gin to coffee cocktails. My personal favorite from the whisky flight was barrel 293.
google avatar

Stephen P.

Yelp
I have driven by so many times, a strong recommendation from a family member finally got me in the door. So glad! The cocktails are tops and fair prices. The interior of the building is great, super cozy, though it got really crowded as the live music got going on a Saturday evening. To top it all off, the Magic Bus food truck that's there for winter is my favorite in the front range -- I had it a few times at a brewery in Longmont, was thrilled to run into it here. Amazing grilled cheese and coolest owner.
google avatar

Charlie L.

Yelp
Delicious whiskeys and cocktails!! And the staff are very helpful... and patient! A definite must-visit for anyone who likes a tasty beverage!

Katie B.

Yelp
Great spot. Good whiskey and good service. Highly recommend. Try the flight to get a feel for what they got. Next time I will try gin.

Yelp
With a wedding to attend in Lyons, the husband and I naturally had to head up a little early to take advantage of the venue's close proximity to Spirit Hound Distillers. So we donned our wedding attire, grabbed the camera, and made our way to Lyons and Spirit Hound Distillers. SPACE/ATMOSPHERE: The aesthetic here is absolutely Colorado. With a cozy cabin feel the bar has a tin roof awning over it that includes string lights and Aspen branches with leaves made of sheet music. Copper mule mugs hang over the bar beckoning to be filled. They feature a small patio out front and even larger one out back! LIBATIONS: Yowza! The cocktails are so incredibly creative and delicious! We sipped on a variety of cocktails including: Surly Shirley, Gin Mule, Tiki Tock, and a couple others I can't remember. They were all so delicious - perfectly balanced and flavorful. The Surly Shirley was easily my favorite of the drinks. Moonshine, fresh lemon and lime juice, sprite, and prickly pear syrup. Prickly pear has clearly been an upcoming trend and made such a perfect play on a classic bevvie. I'd also like to note that I don't tend to lean towards moonshine because I find it harsh, but their moonshine was incredibly smooth. SUSTENANCE: While they don't offer a full food menu - they do feature light snacks, soups, an artisan meat and cheese plate, and a rotating calendar of food trucks that set up shop to sling their wares. Check out their website for details. SERVICE: So friendly! The bartender was more than happy to engage the few guests in conversation and help guide us to drinks we'd enjoy. She happily talked to us about the distillery, spirits, and even posed for a pic while pouring a flight for fellow guests. We even got to sample a couple of their whiskey soaked pickles during our visit. Spirit Hound Distillers was def worth the adventure! I look forward to making my way back with others as we head to the mountains for a truly Coloradan adventure! **COVID Note: They offer all their spirits and cocktails to-go for your at home enjoyment!

Madeline M.

Yelp
Worst hospitality of all time, turned the lights out on us and told us to leave at 9:06pm when they close at 9pm. I never write reviews but this one server literally STEPPED on my friend's dog's tail and didn't event apologize. Took 40 minutes to get a gin and tonic, just go somewhere else
google avatar

Sandeep A.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing drinking experience! The cocktails are absolutely fantastic, and all the booze is clean and super flavorful!!! The bartenders are also engaging and genius - we loved our time with Reece. Reece hooked us up with the perfect drinks for our group of 8 that perfectly lined up with what each of us uniquely wanted. Highly recommend!

Trevor S.

Yelp
Saw this place while driving into town and had to check it out. Definitely a must if going to Lyons. Super nice bar and great whisky

Yelp
Was able to make the opening event for the Denver tasting room in August. Great eats, friendly bartenders, very relaxed atmosphere. Then was able to visit Spirit Hound Lyons this past month for a tour and tasting. Absolutely loved it! Informative and entertaining tour. Learned a ton about the process and some behind the scenes stories of how these spirits came to be. Brought a couple bottles home to enjoy and share. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Matt I.

Yelp
This place showed up on way to Colorado Springs, we decided to check it out. Really relaxed spot with excellent Old Fashioned. Did take a walk in the back and really enjoyed the sun and much needed break from driving. Great memory on a epic trip to Colorado.
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
The drinks here are on point! The hostess not very friendly. This was our first visit and I was turned off by the hostess and almost left. But after we were seated the waitress was amazing super friendly. So I am going with the hostess might be stressed due to Covid idk. I will be back to give it another try because the drinks and waitress were great. I did love their outdoor area as well it is nice and relaxing!
google avatar

Yelp
Great drinks and atmosphere! Sarah is an incredible bartender with a wealth of knowledge that always makes for fun conversations.

Yelp
Quality spirits and the bartender, Seth is a freaking delight. Loved his slam poetry stylings and his integrity about the menu of items. Loved our time there, highly recommend, will be back!

Yelp
June 10th ... GREAT music by Bantham House. Spirithound is perfect for a local unwind, chill, hometown friendly place to chill on ANY Saturday or Sunday evening.
google avatar

Yelp
Great laid back distillery with lots of specialty cocktails and also flights. Service is fantastic and they have an excellent food truck! If you go say hi to Tonya for me, she has all the best recommendations on the menu and the food truck!
google avatar

Naji S.

Yelp
Great time! Ryan was an amazing historian of the distillery, as well as an informant of all the wonderful things they are doing. Great atmosphere, great tasting spirits, we can't wait to come back! Really want to try the food but that will have to wait until next time.

Suzanne F.

Yelp
Great drinks (I had the Bikini Fashioned)! Great environment! And our bartender (Sassy Sarah) was amazing!
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
What a great secret this roadside distillery is. Sit and sample their fine libations while world class poet Seth regales you with his tales and informs you about Spirit Hound's offerings. Of note is their exceptional Honey Bourbon (not sweet,) gin, sambouca, and artisanal whiskey. The non pretentious atmosphere makes this a lovely place to whittle away some time and sample this Colorado treasure.
google avatar

Turah S.

Yelp
Small distillery but killer flavors and amazing staff. If we could have afforded one of everything I'd have done.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
Yummy old fashioned. Loved it more than the usual because it was made with ginger bitters so that cut the sweetness. Service by Sara was outstanding. She gave me the spiel about the history of the company which I very much appreciated. We also tried a taste of barrel 132. So good! And the pickels...why didn't I buy a jar? I'm so regretting that. One more stamp on the Colorado whiskey trail!
google avatar

Juan A.

Yelp
Whisky and spirits! All so far have been absolutely fantastic. Can't recommend this more after a good hike in Rocky Mountains (or even better on the way AND back ha!) Seth was 10/10. Literally could not ask for a better educator friendly, taught us about whisky, and not bad on the eyes.
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
This was such a refreshing stop on our way to Estil Park. The bartender was the friendliest and funniest one I have met in a long time. We had such a good time, we bought a bottle of gin. Get the Jam Juice if they are still offering it. It's amazing and you will enjoy it whether you are a normal gin drinker or not.
google avatar

Kyra S.

Yelp
Driving by and decided to stop for in and see what they are about. So glad we did. Knowledgeable and helpful in guiding us to what to have on our flight. I ordered a cocktail, the jam juice is my new summer drink!! They even shared the recipe for how to infuse their gin to recreate this drink at home. The flight was on point, with us having to make a difficult decision on which bottle to purchase today. They were all delightful. A great stop, friendly and fun staff. Don't pass this place by.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
What great out of the way distillery. We were greeted by Tonja. We bought a flight and she took the time to explain each one to us. They have taste testing a well as a free bottle of whiskey if you help label the bottles. Check them out. They are between Boulder and Estes Park in Lyons. CO Www.spirithounds.com

Yelp
Great people making great whiskey in a great little town in beautiful colorful Colorado! Had the flight of 195, 196, 197, and 198. All exceedingly good. Walked out very happily with purchases of the 195 and 197. Thank you Craig, Seth, Sarah, and Amanda. See y'all next year when we're back up from Texas!
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
It's cool.. maybe I'm not the perfect guy to rate a distillery because I'm a tequila guy but it's pricey and it's not the best. The drinks on the other hand are really good, short and pricey for what you're getting but yeah they're good. Good people working for sure which can make or break any place!
google avatar

Yuleisi M.

Yelp
After visiting the beautiful National park " Rocky Mountains" we came upon this cool looking bar which welcomed and serviced in the most friendly and informative way. And the whiskey cocktail are amazing !
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Delicious drinks, friendly service, nice location, indoor/outdoor seating. I tried the Bee's Knees. I am not really a gun drinker, but it was a tasty, refreshing drink. I nice selection of other vodka and whiskey drinks were also available.

Yelp
Doing Mother's Day from afar + during quarantine is weird, but so many local businesses made it easier to celebrate and I'm thankful for that! My future in laws are currently living near Lyons, Colorado which, if you've never been, is a charming little town between Boulder and Estes Park. There are a few restaurants, bars, and shops on the main drag of town, but aside from that it's mostly homes and nature. Spirit Hound Distillers greets you right as you pull into town--my partner and I visited about five years ago for moonshine cocktails, but this review is for their recent COVID offerings! They're currently offering batched cocktails and full bottles to go, so I gave them a call last week to see if we could pay for some cocktails over the phone and have the in laws pick up when they're ready. They were super helpful and I ordered two gin mules (they're doubles so they're $16, but the other drinks to go are $9) and we let our family know they could pick up at their convenience. Such a nice way to feel like we're having a drink with them, even from 1000 miles away! The to go menu also has whiskey flights and snacks (chips, pickles, cheese, etc) and their website says they're making hand sanitizer as well. Definitely a fun stop if you're wanting a quick jaunt out of Denver/Boulder or if you're heading back from Rocky Mountain National Park. Love that we can support this business right now (even from LA)!

Yelp
as regulars and locals, it's hard to say what's better than an evening at the hound. We travel west of our domicile for specific reasons: the great service and friendly comraderie of the staff & brewmaster, the welcoming and down-to-Earth atmosphere, and of course the world class bourbon & whiskey (many other options abound!) If you're in the area, a stop at the Spirit Hound is a must! thank you to Sarah, Seth, Tanya, Craig, and Amanda for always being such great human beings as well as servers, managers, and brewmasters. cheers!
google avatar

Nancy W.

Yelp
Love these guys! A customer recommended Spirit Hound while we were looking at gin. Wish we could thank him. Best gin ever! Just wish it was sold in San Diego!!
google avatar

Marisol R.

Yelp
That gin doe! For not being a gin fan and walking out with a bottle for ourselves and a bottle for our gin loving aunt, you know that gin must be on point. Their signature botanical mix of freshly picked juniper berries, anise, clove, cinnamon, and cardamom creates a bright, fresh gin that is knock your gin socks off good. Unlike anything I've ever tasted. You can taste that every ingredient comes from Lyons Colorado's backyard. It's truly incredible Their decaf coffee liquor with vanilla hints was incredible too (a bottle was also purchased). While putting it in your waffle batter sounds incredible, it's so delicious you could drink it straight up. You'd totally impress your guests if you had this as an after dinner beverage. (that's my plan) Welcoming tasting room gives you two free tastes of any spirit. Several groups of folks at tables playing games together while enjoying their robust and inventive drink list. At least 8 signature cocktails for each spirit! The chili infused vodka....hello! And a food truck for bites too makes this a end to end fantastic experience. There is nothing not to love.
google avatar

Yelp
Location and staff are great. The straight spirits are very mediocre. They were selling a lot of mixed drinks when we came in. That was obviously for a reason. I don't like negative reviews for small businesses like Spirit Hound but a sixty dollar bottle of whiskey is in the same pricing line with a $35-40 bottle. It is very overpriced. I understand the distillery is small but at $60, it is in the same pricing ballpark as AD Laws and Stranahan's which blow Spirit Hound away. Even Dancing Pines at $45 is way better. If the pricing where more reasonable, I'd be a bigger fan.
