Visited Spirit Of '77 for Sunday football. A terrible experience filled with a perplexing lack of beer, limited food options, incorrect assignment of football games, and hoards of children screaming and running around.
Quality: I had planned to hang out at Spirit Of '77 for my entire football game, but barely made it into the second quarter. Everything the bar could do bad, they seemed to do. When I arrived they were pulling two beers off the draft list since the kegs tapped, but they weren't replacing them. This left three beer options, with ten or twelve total taps. Inexcusable when still on the first set of Sunday NFL slate. I was planning to get food as well, but the limited and uninteresting brunch menu was on until 2pm and I didn't make it that far.
Quantity: The pours were fair, and from sitting at the bar, the liquor pours were even better.
Value: $6-$8 for Draft Beers.
Ambiance: Spirit Of '77 is a sports bar located on the east side of the river near Downtown Portland. It is set up much like a beer hall, but replacing the communal tables with high tops. They have a large screen for the main event, then six additional televisions placed in different corners. The audio will play for the event on the large screen. They also have a private room upstairs with an additional television. A big scoreboard sits on the wall showing the beers, which was simply embarrassing during my visit. They also have some basketball arcade games, which were overrun with children.
Crowd: Expect a lot of jerseys on Sunday afternoon. But also expect a ton of children running wild.
Service: It felt like it was everyone's first day. No one changing kegs, so the beers whittled down to three options, everyone was upset about the game options placed on the televisions, and there was no coordination for the food available.
Parking: Extremely difficult to find parking in the area.
