Spitfire-Turkish Halal Food

My friend and I stumbled upon Spitfire in South Beach while out for a walk and decided to stop in for lunch — and I’m so glad we did! The food was amazing — flavorful, generous portions, and everything was cooked perfectly. We were absolutely stuffed by the end. The owners were there working and couldn’t have been more welcoming. Their hospitality made the whole experience even better. They even treated us to Turkish tea and baklava with honey. I’m back home in Minneapolis now and still craving their gyro. I had the lamb and beef gyro with everything, and honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had one that delicious before. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Miami!

The food is outstanding—particularly the chicken gyro and Adana kebab. The portions are generous, and the Turkish coffee and baklava make for a fantastic finish. This has become my go-to spot whenever I’m in South Beach.

Was looking for a more casual bite around espanola way and found this hidden gem. Great portions. Delicious food. We got the chicken lunch special and the gyro. Both incredible

Authentic Turkish flavors in the heart of Miami Beach! I stopped by Spitfire Miami Beach and was blown away by how fresh and flavorful everything was. The wrap was perfectly seasoned and packed with tender meat and crisp veggies ..just like what you’d get in Istanbul. The fries were golden and crispy, and pairing it all with a cold bottle of Yörsan Ayran was the perfect touch of home.

We came all the way from Belgium just to try out this place! We love kebab and here u taste that its made with love!!!! 🩷🩷🩷 We were a big group, the owners felt bad that the orders went a bit chaos but it was all fine for us WE TOTALLY UNDERSTAND (were a big group) they were soooo nice and kind people🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 (even offerd us tea to make up) #greatworkguys BTW THE FOOD IS SOOOOOOO GOOD #yummieinourtummie

Wow, if you’re looking for the authentic Turkish street food like gyros , this place is a gem. The owner is Turkish and he is very friendly, welcoming and kind man. The food is very fresh and the halal meat is very tasty ,tender and quality meat. We have tried their gyro and wrap and it was so delicious, and the portions are huge . Great value ! We have also tried their home made desserts and honestly it was the best baklava that we have ever had in our lives. ( not too sweet at all, as they usually are ) . The staff is very nice and inviting. We have truly felt welcomed and appreciated. The service is just above and beyond . The place has an indoor seating and outdoor seating too. The owner is remodeling the place and he will turn it into very modern place serving the best Mediterranean Gyro in Miami Beach. We highly recommend this restaurant , it’s a MUST VISIT when you are in Miami Beach!!!

The food was ok. Just too expensive. $24 for a Mediterranean bowl with beef/lamb. The meat was hard and difficult to chew and it didn’t have much flavor. It was the most expensive gyro meat bowl that I’ve ever paid for and the least underwhelming. I was craving Mediterranean food and this was close by so i tried it but i shouldve gone somewhere else. Works were nice, fries were done right and salad was fresh. But the meat and flavor was meh.

This place was amazing. Got a craving for food at 10P, ended up here. It was DELICIOUS. Everyone was so friendly, we ended up staying to eat the meal there. Great spot and affordable.

This was my second time eating Spitfire but first time going to the restaurant and I loved the food again! Their food is amazing and they have pretty quick service too. We ordered a bowl and chicken wrap. So far my favorite item is the authentic tasting Turkish meatball bowl with all the veggies and tzatziki sauce! It's the right mixture of their delicious and juicy meat with a tasty sauce. They have a nice casual seating area with cute decor. I'd highly recommend eating Spitfire (whether sit down or takeout)!

I walked a few miles in 100 degree weather to get to this place. When I arrived, a young lady greeted me with a dessert called baklava. It was surprisingly good. Really sweet treat. I recommend trying it if you have a sweet tooth. The food was good. I took a doggy bag to eat the rest as a snack. #imgreedy

Went in for a gyro at lunch and came out satisfied. Neat hole-in-the-wall. Service was really good too. Will have lunch there more often.

Stopped by for lunch after a morning at the beach. Wow, were we impressed! The owner was very nice, the food is 10/10 for flavor and very generous portions! For a Mediterranean street food style place, it definitely takes top spot in Miami!

Omg I love this homemade rice pudding and Turkish meatballs with special Turkish tea. The service was excellent and the prices were affordable.

This is about as close as you can get to Turkish food in the Miami area. The owner is from Istanbul, and as a fellow Turk, you can tell he puts his heart & soul into every dish. The Menu is reasonably priced and FULL of flavor. The baklava is homemade and is to die for! Great location right off of Washington Avenue with lots of seating. Once you have tried this place you are hooked! I am averaging once a month at this point, can't wait to be back!

I was pleasantly surprised coming here. The woman working was very sweet and so kind towards my toddler. The beef/lamb gyro was very good, the chicken was alright, and the spicy sauce I added to my meal was the perfect amount of heat that I wanted. Overall really enjoyed my dinner here

We got 2 chicken dinner gyro with fries. The chicken was a bit bland and the tzatziki sauce tasted like a mayo base to me. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of this meal. The price was good for 15.99 it came with the gyro, a drink and fries. The fries were fresh. The service was good but the indoor seating was really hot as it felt like the ac was not on.

Fresh, juicy meats, vegetables make the pita and wrap amazing. Pita chips also fresh and crunchy.

Stumbled across this place while looking for another Mediterranean spot on Miami Beach, which was close but we noticed this place is open so we decided to give it a try. Saw a few people inside so realize maybe the place is pretty good. I ordered the kafta and chicken platter, which came with rice house salad which I asked to substitute for tabouli salad. The kafta was a bit dry. The chicken was pretty decent. I wasn't happy with the tabouli salad because it was missing some lemon! The place looks promising, but I don't think I'll be coming back here. When we got there, there was really nobody there so we thought our food would come out quick, but it actually took a long time to see the other tables looking anxious, wanting to know where their plate is as well

I was in the area and debating between two spots for lunch. Glad I had the opportunity to try this place! There are a few tables out front and a small barstool area inside. The service was so warm and friendly and the food was fresh, filling and delicious. I tried - The beef rocket wrap combo - Lavash bread comes rolled with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, red cabbage and your choice of sauce. This was very good. They were generous with the protein portion. Everything was fresh and tasty. It definitely hit the spot. Fries were good as well! 4.5/5 (17.99) If you're in the area and want a quick, light, fresh and healthy spot you can't go wrong with spitfire. I will definitely be going back to explore more of their menu next time I'm in South Beach.

I use to order from here because the meat was fresh and moist. Doing carnivore diet so I only eat meat. Last time they sent me old nasty gyro meat and I didn't want to order for a while I thought maybe it was that one time but this is second time they pull this crap. Dried up old meat. Been good customer but not wasting anymore money on this crap. Horrible

Pretty good food. My group of 4 ordered the mixed rocket, chicken rocket, and 2 beef doner kabobs (they had a BOGO offer at the time). The donors were pretty good, I'd recommend trying the spicy sauce. The chicken and mixed rockets were flavorful and stuffed with veggies and chicken/beef. I like that you can choose what veggies you want in your wrap. The fries were underwhelming, I'd avoid them if you could. Overall, they're worth a try if you're in the area.

Amazing, fresh and friendly!! We got both a chicken bowl and a beef bowl. Service was friendly and very quick. Definitely try the spicy sauce they have on top

The food was better than McDonald's but I spent over $60 for three meals, and the service was ok, but the AC was not working enough to cool down the little seating area they had. I asked to turn on the fans they already had attached on the walls and they said "no, the AC is on" The bathroom looked like it was in a third world country in a ghetto part of town that was not kept up with. Overall i regret taking my family here. I got excited for the "turkish food" but what a terrible mistake. I asked for ice to cool myself down, and they didnt even have ice. Even taco bell has ice people. Get your basics straight at least. I guess they meant the name of the place literally. Spitfire. You'll be spitting out most of your food out, since its hot like fire

I'm addicted to their Doner kebabs. They're so filling, and authentic. Clean shop. Fast Service. Conveniently located on South Beach.

The kebab was delicious and the meat had allot of flavor. It was a great wrap for a great price. All of the veggies were fresh and delicious. The fries were crispy they were sprinkled with Mediterranean seasoning and they were delicious. For me it was the service. The server was a bit passive aggressive and rude when we asked questions about the menu. When I asked for crispy fries she looked at me as if I was crazy. I would stop by again if I am ever in this area again, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. It's overrated

A fast casual joint right next to Five Guys, serving up way more interesting food than burgers. I really appreciate that you can see the two different meats cooking on the spit there, so you know it's fresh. And wow, their in-house made bread is excellent too. Beef-Lamb Döner Kebab: I basically ordered all the free toppings, so it was a wonderful burst of many veggies and sauces! I think they used 3 sauces, 2 spread on the bread and 1 squirted over everything at the end. Couldn't tell what was what, but together they added so much flavor to the meat and bread and veggies. The bread, by the way, was way better than pita from a plastic bag that you usually get from with kebabs. It had a firm baked exterior and fluffy interior. It was actually perfectly structured so not to break apart when eating all the filling. And, of course, the beef-lamb exceeded expectations! I was thinking it'd be like that omnipresent gyro meat loaf texture. But it was the real deal with alternating layers of beef and lamb, perfectly crispy. Such a pleasant experience! Chicken Döner Kebab: Besides the meat difference, it was similar to the other sandwich in every other delicious way. Shockingly, I think I liked the chicken even more. It had a crispy firmness all around that the beef-lamb didn't. Reminds me of how the wings on a baked chicken have a firmer tastier meat than the rest of the chicken. Imagine that, but every cut slice of chicken in the sandwich! Also, really good flavoring. Falafel: Got these as a side and they were deep fried fresh to order. Came out like hockey pucks with a crunchy outside and grainy inside. I really liked all the spices used to flavor it. I swear they used some fenugreek/methi, which gave it such a lovely aroma.

I was in Miami for a work conference and found this restaurant online. My coworkers and I walked over and the staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and fresh. I would definitely recommend them to locals or visitors.

In an area where there aren't many good casual food options, spitfire is always solid! For a light lunch I recommend the salad with all the toppings with chicken or beef. Be sure to ask for sauce on the side! And extra tzatziki

Wow. We are staying at the Hyatt nearby and this hella hit the spot!!! The owners are this super cute couple who clearly care deeply about their food. We got the sandwich and rocker meals - the fries are incredible as well and they come with their own special ketchup. The food looked so amazing we forgot to take photos lol. Great value!!

The problem with Spitfire isn't their prices their customer service or their restaurant cleanliness. The issue I have is that their food just isn't very good. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive fast food take out place place for fast food South Beach standards, Spitfire may be a good option. However, my food just didn't taste very good. More like a bunch of stuff just mushed together with no distinct flavors. Even the meat was under flavored for kebab. Would, I return to Spitfire? Sadly, no. There are just so many places to eat in the area and IMHO you just can't afford to be mediocre in South Beach, even if your food is less expensive than the other places to the right and left of you.

5/5 Not going to even hold you. Little shop off Washington strip. I had the fry bowl with chicken. The chicken was a little dry but seasoned well, all of the veggies were fresh (red onion, purple cabbage, cucumbers and tomatoes.) I also added feta cheese. A hit. The fries were crinkle cut and basic, but because of everything else it was still a must have. Will be back.

Umm no pun intended but this place is FIRE! I ordered the bowl with chicken/beef mix protein on fries topped with the harizza fire sauce. As far as vegetables, I got everything that normally comes with it. First of all, it looks visually pleasing and second of all, it tastes amazing. The bowl comes in 2 sizes, small is $9.50 and large is $12. Definitely recommend this menu item! What I love about this place is that you can customize your dish with a number of various selections. They also offer combo meals for a good deal $! The portions are fairly large - I could barely finish my bowl!! The place is clean and the staff is very nice/friendly. If you love some fire mediterranean food - check this place out!! P.S. the fire sauce is actually hot.

My wife lived in Berlin for a year and this used to be the only place you could get something that resembled a doner in all of south Florida. We've been making spontaneous trips down from the Boca area just for it over the last five years. But then - they changed the bread, and now it's just pita, and there's no cabbage anymore - it's just a regular gyro now. Incredibly disappointing that they took their originality and threw it out. Not worth the trouble anymore.

I'm sooo upset I have gone here for years all the way from Boca raton just to have their doner sandwich and now it shouldn't even be called a doner it's basically a gyro now compared to what they used to be. I don't get it this place used to be amazing so they did a change with their bread instead of the fluffy square doner type bread they use pit now that's so disappointing. The chicken was kinda dry too had a lot of over dry hard peices. Unfortunately they lost a long time customer. I knew something was off when this place wasn't as busy as it used to be. That's a drastic change and they shouldn't call them doner sandwiches. Customer service is still good so that's why I am giving 2 stars but I'm just extremely disappointed it's not fair when places change a main ingredient in their menu especially the ingredient that makes the food what it's supposed to be. it used to be more like how doners are in Germany with the fluffy type bread and it covers the bottom perfectly and easy to eat now the way they serve it it literally is a gyro basically and it was served like a huge taco lol it was a mess to eat.

I am updating this post because I got harassing messages about how this place is "Mediterranean" and has nothing to do with "German" food. Perhaps read the business description from the owner that says: "Spitfire brings German street food with Turkish roots". Or the category they put it in (German). Or perhaps check their twitter account, which states in the actual title that they offer "German Doner Kebabs". Some people just can't be helped... Anyways, below my original review: ------------- Calling this "German Döner" is an outrage! These people have never in their life had a Döner in Germany! Grossly misleading for anyone looking for real German style Döners. The meat is cut way too thick, is chewy and gross, and contains lots of lamb tail fat - enough to overpower the flavor in a bad way. The bread isn't crispy and of the wrong kind (the right kind would be Ekmek bread). In fact, lots of "wraps" and other completely unrelated crap being advertised that would never fly in a German Döner place. No real German Döner connoisseur would consider this anywhere close to what we're used to in Germany. Misleading. Avoid.

Absolutely awful. At some point they had the best döner in Florida. Today I couldn't ever half of what I ordered. So disappointed.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could . I will also say that I've been coming here for about 8 years now . Today was a total disappointment. I ordered the sandwich which I expected that would be on that bread that's photographed on the menu, what I'm used to ordering . The woman there didn't tell me they serve it in a pita now . I was given old meat from the fridge instead of the rotisserie there . Disgusting don't come near !

we got a falafel bowl and another meatball bowl, both are tasty and loaded with veggies. The rice is good, but the quinoa was so bland. The falafel doesn't taste the freshest, and the meatball is a bit lackluster too

They changed the bread, it's no longer authentic Döner like the ones you'd get in Germany. Such a shame.

Here for the weekend during Art Basel. Wanted something new and different. This fit the bill based on Yelp reviews. We entered a nice little restaurant where you order at the cashier and have a few seats in the inside. We got here at a good time and found seats easily. It filled up shortly thereafter. And I can see why. This place is phenomenal. The food is so delicious and generous. My wife and I just wanted a little snack and ended up splitting a pretty big falafel Rocket for 14. It was so good. We were advised of all of the homemade ingredients. The Baklava is made in house and is delicious. It's worth trying. It's one of the better homemade versions of this dessert. Definitely a great choice for dessert. We definitely will return. This is a great quick food with very nice service. They are very helpful, friendly, and polite.

top level Lamajuns which is a type of Turkish pizza which is amazing. Almost as good as if you were in Turkey. The rockets are delish as well. We will be back often.

Had absolutely delicious chicken gyro/fries here. Great place to people watch and experience the hustle/bustle of South beach as well as watch pretty parakeets flying by on the trees. Owners are very nice, and the sumac on the fries was exceptional.

The food was good, but the fire sauce that I specifically asked to not have on my food- was WAY too hot. It ended up ruining my food. I can handle hot food but that was way too intense. Sure I could've asked for a redo but it wasn't worth it to me. TLDR; Food is good, but caution on the hot sauce!

I had high hopes for this place after looking at photos and reviews since it's close to my work. I went on their main website to put in an online order to have ready for when I went on lunch break so I put my order in ample amount of time. The online website said it would be ready by 2:29PM and I placed the order at 2:14PM. I arrived a little bit before the projected time around 2:27PM and had to wait for 5 min for somebody to come from the back. A young lady finally asks if I needed something after coming out once going in the back and coming back out. I replied to her stating I had an online order, and she didn't realize there was a ticket and it was still sitting on the POS machine so she pulled it and said she would make the order. Thinking she would start right away I was sitting down patiently and there were no other customers or orders except for mine. She continued sweeping the entire kitchen and front of house and I was sitting quietly waiting for her to start my order but she didn't. A customer walks in and he waits for a little bit as she finishes sweeping. Instead of starting on my order she takes the other customers order and then after waiting for over 12 min she finally starts my order. There was no upper mgmt around other wise I would have said something but I'm sure the cameras caught me sitting down patiently waiting but this really upset me because as a person who's worked in the hospitality industry she chose to do side work over delivering on customer service which is in poor taste. Since I was crunched on time for my break already this was an inconvenience on time.

Really great halal place on South Beach. We got a mixed gyro sub (it was a pita bread in half essentially) and mixed gyro "rocket" wrap. Both were fantastic and generously filled with meat. The French fries were lightly seasoned (wish they had more seasoning!). There is indoor and outdoor seating and the service was great.
