Honestly, yes the two tacos I had here at Spitfire Taco's new location could of and should of been better, especially for the price of almost five dollars a piece.
That being said, I had the "pollo asado" taco for $4.75 and the "carnitas" taco for $4.70 which came out to over $10 with tax. Where to start on both f these tacos. I know, the protein, or should I say the lack of protein on both tacos. I even told the young kid who brought them to the counter that the tacos looked very under whelming and small, and that they need more meat. Just look at the pictures I uploaded.
The carnitas taco was a skinny little thing on a flour tortilla. There should of been at the very least twice the amount of carnitas in this taco, and to make things worse, the carnitas were on the dry side. I could tell when I first saw the little piece of pork that they were going t be dry. Carnitas taco need to be succulent chunks of glistening pork tender to the touch. I was very disappointed in this taco. At for $4.70 I would not have this taco again, let alone at $2.99. Oh yes, there was no dusting of chicharrones on the taco.
The pollo asada taco was equally disappointing. I literally counted five little square pieces of chicken. It was embarrassing to call this a pollo asado taco. Come on peeps, we can do better then this. The taco was mostly tortilla strips. There should of been more chicken than tortilla strips. The chicken is the star of the taco, not the garnish. To make matter worse, something in the taco was very salty. I think it was either the avocado salsa or the chipotle cream, but it overwhelmed the flavor of the taco, and given the lack of chicken, the chicken flavor was mute.
I am not sure if this is how they make their tacos here, or who ever made them is new to the job and hasn't picked up the right way to execute these taco. Either way, the tacos need to be better.
