Where to Eat Around Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (SLO)

"This historic seafood cafe is well-known to Pismo Beach tourists, though the corner location closer to Cal Poly’s campus still gets plenty of love. Stop in for fried seafood in all its many forms, as well as the cafe’s signature bread bowls of chowder." - Farley Elliott

The place for clam chowder! The bread bowl is really amazing. The seafood combo with shrimps and calamari was tasty. It had more curly fries than the seafood, but everything had great taste. Portion sizes are smaller than usual, the bowl seemed to be of the size of a cup elsewhere- that’s something to consider before ordering. In all, great experience, really tasty chowder and seafood.

We came here to try their famous clam chowder and we were not disappointed. It was creamy, loaded with seafood and very tasty. We also tried fish tacos and salad and it was okay. Definitely should stick to their chowder. Staff here was friendly and efficient even when it was busy. The only thing is the limited seating area. When it’s busy it can be hard to find a seat.

We're very happy we went here. It's very casual and you order at the counter. We ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder which was very good and decided to try the Clam Chowder Curly Q Fries. It was surprising how delicious this was together, who would have thought it would be so yummy! I ordered Grilled Cod Tacos (they also will do fried), after all it was Tuesday 😋 We chose to have dessert since they looked so good and ordered their Bread Pudding. It did not disappoint and was very tasty 😋 For such a casual place, the food was delectable and extremely tasty👍👍👍👍

This was my first time here and it was really good. My daughter ordered the clam chowder, I got a chicken salad, my son ordered the calamari and fries, and my youngest ordered a hamburger and fries. The clam chowder was a bit too sweet for us. The salad was a large portion, but good. My son lives in SLO and raves about their calamari. The prices were decent. The biggest issue we encountered was seating. There isnt enough of it and the tables are small. We are a family of 4 and this was a bit tight. We would go back to eat here again. It's not one of our favorites, but it's a good place to grab a bite.

Excellent bakery, great food and fun vibes. The fish and chips are excellent and fresh, has a good flavor and spice. Clam chowders is very delicious like eating in Boston. Won’t be disappointed.

Wow! Best clam chowder I’ve ever had. You have to get in a bread bowl! The fried shrimp, fish and chips taste so fresh. I will definitely be back! To top it off service was phenomenal.

My opinion should be heavily discounted as I recently moved to California, and this is only my second time eating clam chowder here. So I don't know how this is supposed to taste. But whatever this is, is really good! I enjoyed it. Quick and friendly service. (I won't take points off for this since this is not why you're coming here, but the coffee is mediocre.)

Stopped by here while driving by SLO for their yummy clam chowder. Ended up getting a couple croissants and clam chowder to go. Both croissants were soft and buttery and full of yumminess. We ended up purchasing the frozen 4 pint clam chowder because we still had a ways home and didn't want to eat clam chowder at 8:30 in the morning. After warming it up, I have to say it taste exactly like the ones at the restaurant!!!!
