Fabulous restaurant! Delicious and fun. You choose your own ingredients and and cook them in the broth of your choice in a "hot pot" right at your table. We are vegan and had two choices of vegan broths and many choices of plant-based ingredients - veggies, tofu, more varieties of mushrooms than I have ever seen. Even more options for omnivores and carnivores. Our waitress was so helpful, explaining how it all works and checking in with us to see if we had questions. We had a great time and a delicious meal. Right off 95 and well worth the stop if you're passing through (as we were).

Splendid Shabu is a truly delightful restaurant—with a warm and welcoming ambiance lovingly run by a wonderful mother-and-son duo. They’re absolutely adorable and hilariously charming, making you feel like part of the good side of the family—the side you actually enjoy being around. Even though you kinda cook the food yourself, every bite is bursting with flavor. It’s more than just a meal—it’s an experience meant to be shared with friends, family, or even enjoyed solo, because the owners make you feel so comfortable and included. The place is spotless, and the ingredients are top quality. I had a chicken and beef soup loaded with fresh vegetables and house seasoning, and honestly, it was incredible. With every spoonful, it felt like a thousand flavors were dancing—almost like a joyful, multicolored trip of taste! And I can’t forget the grand finale: the fried cheesecake with blueberries—crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and absolutely heavenly. A perfect sweet ending to an already wonderful experience. If you’re looking for a place to eat, laugh, and feel genuinely cared for, Splendid Shabu is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

When traveling through the Savannah area, we ALWAYS stay in Pooler and stop at Splendid Shabu for dinner. Casual, reasonably priced, unassuming, and the selection of vegan and vegetarian options is terrific. Choose among many different meats, vegetable and tofu options, and poach them on any number of broths at your table Mix and match among your sauce options (I love tons of garlic mixed with hoisen and house sauces!). Great for conversations as you cook and serve yourselves. And, did I mention that the family that owns and staffs the place is really sweet? We think of it as a hidden gem! It's a bit hidden on a side driveway near Sams, but worth the trip.

I highly recommend this restaurant for a fun night out. The food was so fresh. They actually cut the meat to order.Cooking your own food was amazing. They serve large portions, so be prepared to take some home or split an order with your companion.

I've been twice and it's so awesome! It's a completely authentic experience with the guarantee of fresh food. The first time, I had the chicken and the second time, I had seafood. It was SO good! They also have wonderful bubble tea flavors. Yummy!

As Vegans, finding a good place to eat is a very difficult task and finding gluten free options on top of that for my wife adds to the difficulty, haha... That being said, the food here was very good, soothing and fun to cook on top of that. The fun part is rather simple, lol, but still enjoyable for my wife and I and the 8-year-old. The atmosphere was very relaxing, not very noisy and quite clean. Our servers were knowledgeable, polite and cooking the food at out table didn't take as long as I thought it would. I think anyone would enjoy this restaurant and plan on being there for at least 1.5 hours and having good food and great conversation. (Leave the phones in your pocket or purse...) 😊👍

Wife & I stopped here for lunch. It’s located in an isolated building in front of Sam’s Club. The waitress asked Lunch, Pho or Hotpot. We opted for Hotpot. 3 steps: 1) Pick broth (spicy, miso). 2) Pick noodle (clear, egg). 3) Pick protein (beef, seafood). It came with a plate of assorted fresh veggies. There’s a small sauce bar for your dipping. Service was quick & friendly. Broth was tasty, better than most other places. Portions were adequate & plenty. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. 2 thumbs up!

I went to have pho for dinner but they don’t have a veggie pho option only beef, chicken and seafood. I ask the server if they couldn’t make me one and she said no so I ask for only shrimp and she said yes they could do that but it was going to be with beef broth in which I ask again if that was the only option she said yes. (I was not happy with it but was hungry and didn’t want to go anywhere else, also raining) so I agree to get a shrimp pho then I proceeded to asked if I could get a side of bok choy and mushrooms I didn’t mind paying extra but she said no because that doesn’t come with the pho and that not how you eat it. So I just got whatever she wanted to give me technically. The pho itself was good I just didn’t agree with not being able to get what you want even by paying extra and fyi I’m not picky I just follow a plant based lifestyle and try to stick to it as much as possible but if you are vegan they don’t have a pho for you just so that you know in advanced. They do have a good variety on the hot pot but I didn’t like that they charge for every item you order you pay a separate price and some are overpriced unlikely the other hot pot places I been at they charge a price for doing hot pot and you get everything you want with it at no additional cost. The experience was ok would I go back probably not since I can’t get what I want and they’re not customizable to your needs.

Yummy, fun dining experience. Best hot pot in the area IMHO. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. Clean well kept restaurant.

This is a review overdue. We went to this hot pot restaurant after we tried other local restaurants in April 2024. The flavor was not bad even though it can not compare with those in east or west coast or Atlanta.

My review is based only on customer service, my kids were torn between bbq and hot pot and we mixed up this one with the one with both, the last working was super Graceful when I explained what happened and was very kind about it. I'll be coming back just to have some hot pot next time it's just me, based just on how nicely she treated us. Thank you so much.

The food, service was wonderful! All the vegetables were fresh and the restaurant was extremely clean. The wait staff was very good.

Great experience. Good food. Staff was attentive and helpful. We definitely enjoyed it. We've never actually tried a hot pot experience, and the waitress really explained everything well. The sauce bar was a great feature as well!

My first visit to an Asian hot pot restaurant. I ordered a vegetarian entree and they brought me enough food to feed four people. Some of the vegetables were unfamiliar to me, but all were delicious. Service was very good. My only complaint is that the miso soup base I chose was a bit bland. Overall though, an excellent meal.

I did not expect to find great hot pot in a random place we stopped on a drive in Georgia, but we did! We got in late from a long day of driving and immediately got a table. We were able to order very quickly and they brought our broth and food out very quickly. It was just what we needed. The staff was lovely, the food was good. I highly recommend the gyoza. There was a sauce bar to make your own combination. They were all a little thinner than I'd expect/hope but the taste was perfect. There were bar seats and booths available. It was pretty dark but I enjoyed the dinner. There was a great playlist on (some great throw backs for my age group that may or may not be appreciated by all but it wasn't super loud of anything. Just a nice playlist in the background).

Visit Savannah for work and staying by the airport, I was hungry for some good hotpot. Traveling you can find good and bad spots. This one was very good. The atmosphere was pleasant, the server was welcoming and the food hit the spot. You get a lot of food for a great price. I will say I didn't know there was a sauce bar till I happened upon it going to the bathroom so that was a little disappointing. Also it may have just been the timing of us coming in but they seemed a little understaffed as I believe i saw only two servers for the whole restaurant, and they were busy. Overall though I had a wonderful experience and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Great food and great service. It may not be 100% authentic to the real hot pot in asia but this is as close as you're gonna get around here. Overall it's a pretty nice environment for a date or for a small or big family to experience Hot Pot for the first time.

Very clean and fun experience. We were impressed by the variety and abundance of vegetables even on a Sunday night. The curry broth was perfect for that application and we enjoyed the variety of sauces offered.

Great service and they stay open later than all the Korean Bbq places. We got the chicken and beef hot pot and it was enough for three people. Flavor was excellent!

The restaurant interior is simple but cozy and clean. Orders are brought out fast, hot and fresh! I got the house broth which didn't taste like a lot for me BUT the sauce bar fixed that up real quick. The platter with meat and veggies is more than enough for 3-4 bowls and a full stomach. Very very friendly and attentive service. Would go again! ~ 15$ for a chicken plate, veggies and noodles is more than fair!

It was a cold and raining day so we deciding to find a decent restaurant to eat at. We found Splendid Shabu for their hot pot! We went during lunch time and it wasn't too packed. Place is not an all you can eat service. They offer a variety of different combinations hot pot soup options. You get to choose your soup base, noodles, and then your choice of combination meats and seafood. I ordered the spicy broth with udon noodles, and choose the surf and turf that comes with a choice of meat option and mixed seafood. There are other a la carte items you are able to order. Spicy soup broth wasn't too spicy, but everything tasted good. In the corner there is a sauce bar where you are able to grab a combination of different sauce for your soup or for dipping. Overall decent amount of food that would get you full. I do recommend checking this place out. Service was decent and friendly and helpful waitress.

First time at Asian hot pot restaurant in Pooler. Hubby and I went for our anniversary. Food quality was great, lots of fresh veggies came with your choice of protein. They did not skimp on the veggies,which included, baby bok Choi, bean sprouts, broccoli, zucchini, baby spinach, corn and potato. The meats were great quality and plentiful. Hubby had seafood plate which came with shrimp, crab, squid, mussels and clams. All were delicious. I was more pedantic and ordered the chicken and lamb combo. Again, plentiful and good quality. The broths were varied, depending on your taste, hubby had a green chili broth which was clear and a little thin tasting. I had the house broth that was mild but flavorful. They also had an area where you could mix up your own dipping sauces for your protein or sauces to add to your broth. They had every Asian sauce you could think of, from hoisin to oyster to chilli, to a special house sauce. If you aren't familiar with these sauces and what they taste like there is a handy sheet that offers suggestions on sauces to mix, depending on what flavors you like. Oh, the broths were msg free. Our server/manager Mae was lovely and attentive. They do offer lunch specials and have added pho broth to their mix. The restaurant was very clean, and I visited the restroom which was also clean. In all it was a great dining experience and great food

This place is a poor representation of what hot pot should be. The food quality is not good. The vegetable platter I received with my meat lovers combo was not washed as there was dirt on it. Service was decent since after they take your order all the food comes at once. Ambiance of the restaurant is dimly lit with a dark wood interior. Also, they had accommodations for big parties. In summary, I don't recommend this place because it is not close to authentic but more importantly the quality of the food is very low.

Last time I went there, about a year ago . The food was good . The dining experience was nice but took more time than I wanted. Unique place , they have hot plates on your table to keep the food hot.

Fabulous experience. We left really full with a quart of yummy soup to go as well. Very healthy, fun and filling. Who knew? We were passing through for the night and will go back on our way home. Really good stuff! Highly recommend.

The left overs tho... I'm still souping it up. Leave nothing behind and for $2 bucks more order more Udon Noodles to go. I think I'm saying that right... those fat noodles. That way you can add to your stock and throw in any left over veggies from home or not and have you another meal at home. Holla

So this place is an experience. My first time here and it was memorable. Good times with a friend that was filled with laughter. An abundance of food that you cook yourself in a hotpot. The mixing of flavors into your broth in hopes of a delectable finish. Suggestions: give guidance on mixtures. Yes, you tell us the what the ingredients taste like but I need a sure recipe outlined for what will definitely taste good. I did a good job, but I feel like I could have made my broth taste better. A lot of trial and error. You can definitely share. My friend and I ordered separately which means we had an abundance of leftovers. Also, Gulfstream employees get a percentage off.

So, I went by again and they happen to have the best pho I've ever had. Amazing hard working personnel, service was great!

I went here with my sister, concept a little confusing but overall food was good. Not to knock service or food just not my cup of tea.

Our go-to hot pot whenever we stay overnight in Savannah! It can be tricky to find since it's in a small complex, but it's around the corner of the Byrd cookie store. We enjoy the station to customize our dipping sauce, the spicy broth, and fresh mixture of toppings. We share a pot since we always order enough a la carte items for to share and leave full, often unable to finish everything. The restaurant is clean. I don't know how they do it, but we don't leave smelling like hot pot! The staff is friendly. It's an overall enjoyable experience for couples, individuals, and even large groups.

Big fat bowl of hot goodness on a cool winter day is what you will find here. It's a jackpot especially because my throat is feeling all dry right now. Lunch is a breeze during the week. Under $9 for a bowl and u pick your broth, protein, and noodles. You go to the sauce bar and mix up your concoction to give it more flavor. My thing is I have no idea what to mix up together. I just threw some peanut sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, garlic, cilantro, and green onion in a bowl and through it in my soup. If you want extra veggies or an egg; the egg of all things is not included in the lunch express. If you want to make your own food, you can do it but it looks like what you include is ala carte so it may or may not add up. I'd rather it be cooked for me!

Sooooo yummy and fun. Calm and simple atmosphere. You get to make your own sauces. (I recommend the beef because it's easier to cook (Definitely could have shared!!)

Great choices for hot pot. Love the sauce bar! Went here on a quiet Saturday afternoon but it filled up quickly. A diamond hidden among the chain restaurants of Pooler!

Sooo yummy! My husband and I really enjoyed it! Delicious hot broth a ton a vegetables and meat. A nice variety of sauces, fresh cilantro and onion. We also got the dumplings and boba all delicious. We will definitely be back.

A friend of mine has had an eye on this place and we finally went. This was my first time having Hot Pot, and it was a great experience! I ordered the Egg noodle and Pork with the house broth. The house has the least amount of flavoring so I would recommend the curry or spicy. It's confusing at first when they bring out all the food, but you just have to go for it. The food is all very good, and it's a very interactive process. This place was great. If you're thinking about trying Hot Pot I would definitely recommend!! You will not be disappointed!!!

I was tricked coming here! Lol. I had no idea about the concept but ending up having a good time. You basically pay to cook your own ramen. A lot of variety and room to make a good broth so be careful. It was nice and I left with a burnt tongue.

This is the only place in the area that has authentic Chinese hotpot! I especially like their lunch express bowl--it's basically noodle soup, using the hotpot soup base. It tastes wonderful. I wish they could offer express bowl during dinner time as well; I won't mind paying a few dollars more for the dinner time express bowl if they started doing that.

Passing through Savannah, staying near airport. 8 pm, on the road all day, need dinner. We Yelp! and select Splendid Shabu. Concept seems cool: they provide broth, you cook vegetables and protein. You also choose noodle style (udon, clear bean, ramen, etc). New to us. We both get vegetarian broth and ingredients, and it all cooks quickly on table-top electric hot plates. There is also a bar with sauces (hoisin, sweet chili, Paeno, etc) that you use to dip your ingredients. Yum! Everything worked great and was delicious. Super generous portions, way more than we could eat. Good service and atmosphere. Good value, our bill for two was $44 including tip. My only suggestion is that the fish used is paiche, an Asian catfish. Unfavorable bottom feeder, they could do better. Other than that, highly recommended.

This place was sooo good! The inside was small but the set up is nice. The service was great! Our waiter was very attentive and kind. It was our first time there, so he answered all the questions we asked. We got the honeydew and Taro bubble tea and both were good! We got the gyoza dumplings as appetizer to start and those came out quickly and were good! My husband ordered the miso broth with the surf & turf option and chose chicken. I got the spicy broth with lamb. They provided us with bean sprouts, lettuce, broccoli, zucchini, spinach, corn and mushrooms. We added scallops and pork dumplings. Everything was a nice size portion and everything was delicious! They also have a sauce station that has a variety of sauces such as oyster, hoisin, sriracha and soy sauce. Along side of the sauces they had chopped up green onions, jalapeños and fresh garlic. I loved how everything came out quickly and the size of the portions. The service was great! We will definitely be coming back!

This was a fun dinner spot. It was like the hot pot restaurants in Japan. Their receipts even have Japanese on them. We came at about 8:45pm and they are open til 1000 on the weekends. Our service was phenomenal. Our waiting was William. He explained the whole process and came back frequently to see if we needed anything. We ordered the spicy broth with the combo (2 meats and mixed vegetables), which I liked. You can add stuff to it from their sauce bar too. We really enjoyed the food. The dumplings were good too and came with 6 of them. Also ordered bubble tea. I did not like their bubble tea. They didn't put enough boba in it and it was watered down. So I would not get bubble tea there again. It was $45 for everything and we couldn't even finish our food.

Excellent food. Flavors are outstanding. Our server Mei was the best. Serving size was also excellent. Ordered the lamb. So good. Took home enough for a healthy lunch. Highly recommended. A plus.

10/29/18 A girlfriend suggested we meet here and most times I'm game for trying new places. The place is very cute on the inside. If you ever been to the melting pot, this place will be somewhat familar. So you basically build your meal and they bring it to your table for you to cook. I ordered, (cant remember which noodles, but there are several choices), the spicy broth, shrimp( are not peeled), imitation crab, fish balls( dont suggest, weird rubbery texture and no flavor), spinach, and sprouts. I visited the sauce bar and made a concoction of jalepenos, soy sauce, and chili sauce. Instead of dipping, I just poured mine in with everything when my dish was ready. I really enjoyed what I put together. Dishonorable mentions: 1. There was only one waitress and it was busy. Refills and plate removal was slow. She was a nice lady. 2. They bring your noodles out on a plate thats not big enough to hold the noodles, so when she brought them to the table they were falling off and touching the table. God bless the germs. 3. The bowl provided for you to put your meal in, isnt big enough to hold everything. I did request a larger one and she did bring me one

Hot pot veggies were crisp, broth perfect, great noodle choices (pho), protein (chicken) sliced thin -- perfect for quick cooking... could not have been better! Reasonable price for a wonderful dinner. Definitely will return!

There wasn't really sauce to dip the foods and the pots were too small to cook. Everything ended up overcooking. Shabu should always be buffet setting with a lot of delectable dipping sauce options. Amount of the seafoods I got was very minimal.

This was a good experience with fresh quality ingredients. I have had hot pot in Seattle, Southern, CA and NY. I would say this on par with most of those places where these type places are more prevalent. It's great to see more options in our area. I had the beef with ramen and my wife had the chicken with udon noodles. Just a quick lunch date but we both want to go back for the whole experience. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.

This was our first visit to a hot pot restaurant. It was a very nice surprise! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and fresh. We will return!

This was my first time ever trying hot pot. It's a pretty cool experience but I don't think it's for me. I had beef and lamb. I probably should've went with the chicken since it was my first time trying it. I did really enjoy the coconut bubble tea as well as the shrimp chive dumplings. Both those things were really good. It was a good experience to try something new. If you haven't had hot pot you should at least try it once it never hurts to try new things.

Kids are back at school this week and that means, back on my brunch game! Seems like Winter came overnight in Savannah, like it often does randomly every week LOL, so cold weather calls for soup. Friends and I decided to check out Splendid Shabu (SS) and why did it take so long to make it there? Same reason as always...too many places to try, not enough stomachs LOL. According to their little note on the table, "Shabu-shabu" (Japanese origin) literally means "swish-swish". Isn't it interesting to learn the words of sounds in other languages? Haha. I do lots of cooking at home, but I also love the cook-your-own-food set up at restaurants. It's so much fun! But don't worry, all you have to do is literally watch it cook. No prepping, no measuring, just dunk, wait and eat. - Parking - Located right after you make a turn from Pooler Parkway, heading toward the Tanger Outlets, it's located in the same building complex as the famous Byrd's Cookies. Parking can be found in their private lot. - Vibe - It's casual, modern, clean, but dark. Closed shades are on every window, but I think that's typical of most restaurants in Savannah, trying to keep the heat out in the summer time. There are some booth seats as well as a U-set up of tables in the middle. - TLC - There was only one lady working the floor when we came in at the time of opening. She was all business, but very nice and took the time to explain the whole process. She was very efficient and looked like she could do it all with her eyes closed. Obviously not her first rodeo. - Eats / Refreshments - This is how it works: you pick your broth, noodle and your combo of meats and veggies or pick and choose from an extensive list of a la carte items. I chose, curry broth, udon noodles, and the Surf and Turf combo because if you look at the price, this is a steal. For the Surf, you have the choice between beef, chicken or lamb and I chose beef. The Turf includes shrimps, imitation crab, octopus, squid, clams, mussels and pieces of a white fish (not sure what, but it was good). The veggies include nappa cabbage, bok choy, zucchini, spinach, button mushrooms and enoki mushrooms, my fave! So, once you order, things start coming at ya fast. They bring out a pot that has a divider built into it, so make sure you go with a buddy or that you're super duper hungry haha. We were 4 people, so the pairing worked out, so keep in mind to keep your company at an even number...unless they have individual pots? I don't know. Anyway, the broth comes and she fires up the burners on the table. Then the veggies follow and the meat comes out last. The gradual release also allows you to start dumping stuff in the pot so that they can clear the dishes for the next element, so stay on the ball. Seriously, the tables aren't big enough! They also give you ladles, big bowls and scoopers. Don't forget to go to the sauce bar! So many options. There are: chopped onions, green onions, chopped cilantro, jalapeño peppers, minced garlic, hoisin sauce (mixed with something else, not straight up), soy sauce, oyster sauce, peanut sauce (it was pretty basic, more like a runny peanut butter), hot chili oil, and a "House" sauce. My winning combo was the hoisin sauce with the hot chili oil. YUM! Put it in one of the small, green melamine bowls and shabu-shabu your meats, veggies and noodles and dip each bite in the sauce as you eat! The residue broth of each morsel will keep adding to the sauce and those flavor bombs will go off! Note to self: In hindsight, I think I should have given back the big bowl and saved space on the table. I didn't need it at all and it was a bit of a nuisance. I also should have cooked each piece of beef one at a time as I was eating. They were sliced thinly so they cooked quickly. Also, I should have probably done that also with the seafood, especially some of the pieces that can overcook easily. I've had shabu shabu in the past and I also remember it being amazing with egg, so I'll have to order that as an extra next time. Usually, they'll bring you a raw egg, and then you scramble it with your chopsticks in a bowl and then add a bite of something and then swish it in the scrambled egg. I remember it being so good, so I'll have to remember that for next visit. - Kiddos - My kids would absolutely love it because it's asian food and they would have a ton of fun, cooking their own food. Everything is customizable so you'll find something for your kids to enjoy. - Heads Up - They also have "Express" bowls which are basically a bowl of hot pot prepared in the kitchen. Looks like the same system: pick your broth, noodle, and protein. This is a great option at a super sweet deal if you need a quick bite. For me, restaurants like SS is more about the experience and it's so much more fun doing it myself. I definitely won't wait too long before I return! Places like SS are so fun with family or groups of friends. Great conversation starter and even greater eats!

Excellent meal. I had the curry broth with seafood and veggies. As a 71yo guy, the only thing I regret was that the portion was too large. But, that is a comment I make for most meals out. I wish there was a child/senior sized opportunity at all restaurants. This was like a meal I had in Kyoto where the portion was "just right".

Staff was pretty friendly, stations were clean and stocked. The broth was a little bland for me and I should've paid more attention to the beef options. It felt a little pricey for the options available but it was still pretty solid.

This was my first time having hot pot and I'm instantly a fan! Pretty cool concept that's very do it yourself. You choose all your ingredients; broth, noodle, protein, and then any extra toppings you want! A lot to choose from so we just started with the basics. I decided to get the curry broth (made with Thai red curry paste) and it tasted so good! I could literally drink the broth itself and be satisfied. The simple run down comes with a bunchhh of cabbage, mushrooms, bean sprouts, zucchini, and your protein. In my case I got the seafood combo (comes with a lot lol) and it was delicious. I couldn't complain a bit with our meal and I'm more than pumped to come back! The deal with it is you cook it all yourself. They bring out your pot with the broth in it and start warming it up in front of you. Once they bring out all your food you may begin cooking it, but try to only do a little at a time so you don't overwhelm it! You can go piece by piece with the meat or do it all at once. I chose to do it all at once (or most) and once it was ready put it in my bowl with some broth which kept it plenty enough warm. I left some protein out so I could cook it more as I go. It was all delicious and especially with their own sauce bar, you can make any dipping sauce you choose! They even have some recipes for sauces. The only thing I could take away from is that being it was our first time, it was almost too do it yourself. We informed the waitress we were here for the first time and asked how it all works but wasn't given really much instruction except that the noodles take a couple minutes to cook lol. Left it to be even more of a learning experience but oh well, we still had a blast and will still definitely be back!

The service and ambiance was really nice. The sauce bar was amazing. The sauce bar is off to the side like if you were going down a hall, but I have no complaints. If you're ever in Pooler, give them a try. My only complaint is that my win was flat.

So delicious!!!! But be sure to come early -- they do not play about closing times if you come here you should definitely try the spicy miso broth and dipping the corn on the cob in it is the cherry on top of the meal! Definitely visiting again and definitely coming earlier!

Been coming here for a few years & don't have any complaints truly. The meats & veggies were always fresh, if there was a problem I never got a fuss to fix it. I bought my friends & family from out of town to experience this place & they always ask to come back. The directions are clear if it's your first time & if you still don't understand the waitress breaks it down for you. This is a cool place I'm glad Pooler has.
