I’m giving this place 5 stars because the service was really good, even tho it was evident they were short handed. We came around midnight, ate and had some drinks, the bar tenders were nice and attentive & the Mac n Cheese as well as the burger was so good. It came with a cucumber salad which was so refreshing, they don’t offer fries, which I think is good

Stopped here for dinner while visiting family and had a nice time. It’s a fun atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside. Service was very friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful. This is weird to say but the vegetables in our food tasted great. Be sure to check out all their Mac n cheese offerings. I got the vegetable one and it was awesome. Overall a really nice experience. I’d definitely go again.

I stopped by Spliff’s Gastropub for lunch yesterday and had a pretty good experience. I went with a regular cheeseburger, and it was definitely a fresh, hand-pressed beef patty, very tasty. For my side, I chose the kettle chips, which I always enjoy for their simplicity and crunch. The vibe is definitely that of a casual pub, there are a handful of tables, and you grab a menu when you walk in, decide what you want, then order at the bar. They bring the food out to your table once it’s ready. Overall, it was a solid lunch spot. The only downside is that, being downtown, parking can be a bit of a challenge. This is of course not any fault of theirs, just a note. But if you can find a spot, it's worth checking out.

Driving through Jax and stopped here. Great food and cold beer. Julia was super nice and helpful on the food selections. We oredered hummus, steak sandwich, and the wake and bake burger were very good. We ate outside because we had our dog. No one came to check on us, and we bussed our own table when we left.

Google
Great place to grab a quick bite before seeing a show at the Florida Theater. Extensive food, beer, and drink menu. Burgers, salads, mac & cheese, good vegetarian options can be ordered here. Our server, Sabree, made our visit fun and got us on our way in plenty of time to see the show. Thanks!

Google
Cool spot with excellent food. We got the grilled cheese and pretzels bites. Both were every good and fresh. The balsamic salad on the side was very good and fresh as well. Recommend stopping in for a bit if in the area.

Google
One of the only places that was opened for dinner after 10 PM in this area. The place is very cute and the service was phenomenal. A big thank you to Julia for leading with so much kindness.

Google
Cool night grub spot. We were visiting from STL to see the Tyler Childers concert. We were lucky we beat the crowd there. The staff is friendly but are COMPLETELY set up for failure. The two kind ladies were outmatched by the 50+ people that were in there. We had a beer and got the string cheese Mac and cheese and the steak sandwich. The food was excellent.

Yelp
Top tier Mac and cheese!!! Kiddo enjoyed the pretzel bites, and hubby enjoyed the burger. Loved it!

Yelp
I could never rate this place on one visit, as I've been to this place at least a dozen times. The food is definitely worth a stop after a night out, or just before you head in for the night. It's a laid back quick service restaurant with plenty of beers on available. The only thing I've noticed is if they do not ask, they will assume it's for dine in. As most places with this style place expect orders to mainly to be to go, they do not so just make sure you mention it. Only real bad experience I've ever had here is when I entered the establishment behind another person. They ordered and received a number. But when I ordered I did not. I asked for my number and the clerk had informed me that they had put it on that persons ticket. I asked why, she said "I thought yall were together." I informed her I didn't know that person. No apology was given, but she informed the kitchen and handed me a number. And once my food came out it was of course for here as she had only asked the individual before me, but I missed that at the time as I was caught off guard by being included with someone I didn't know. And felt like I was in the wrong for not speaking up sooner than I had. As the clerk seemed short with me. Other than that one experience I've had good experiences here. Just be sure to specify if you want to go or not. Very nice staff over all, everyone has an off day. And definitely try the Mac and cheese bowls!!

Yelp
Fun little pub downtown- smaller place with only a few tables but have counter seating all around that face the street. Came here before a concert at Daily's Place. They had about 15+ beers on draft with a decent variety. On the food menu, they have a large selection of different types of Mac n cheese which I will try next time we go. We stuck to an appetizer this go around. Ordered the chicken potstickers- cooked really well and had a yummy dipping sauce. A friend of ours got "The Spicy Buffalo" sandwich. The bartender warned her it was spicy-- she did confirm it was really spicy, but said it was great and very tasty. This location is close enough to Daily's that you could take a scooter over if you didn't want to worry about parking around the stadium.

Yelp
Great corner local bar and restaurant l0cated downtown Jax. Don't judge a book by its cover! The food is amazing and I've never had a bad experience. Vast gastro pub choices. Service is great and swag available. Fave is hard to narrow down The mac and cheese bowls kick a##. The shrimp bowl is my fave. We always end up there when going to Florida Theatre. It's right next door!!!

Yelp
Came here just minutes before they were closing but they were nice enough to let us order! I wanted to try their salad with the added protein chicken but I guess they must of confused it with some other salad which was okay it was a miscommunication which is fine I tried it but it wasn't my cup of tea honestly it lack so much flavor. But I tried the Mac and cheese my partner got which was good just didn't like the bread crumbs on the top of it but the Mac and cheese was AMAZING! Good place !

Yelp
Not terrible, not great. I ordered the Goat Boy with a side of macaroni. The Goat Boy (steak, caramelized onions, green peppers, provolone and goat cheese) was delicious. However I wish the steak was cut into smaller pieces because as soon as you take a bite you pull the entire chunk of steak out of the sandwich which just leaves you with soggy bread. The cheese in the macaroni needed to be more liquidy because it didn't really do anything for me. If you're going to use corkscrew pasta it better have cheese funneling through every piece. This macaroni did not.

Yelp
I got the reg burger! It's delicious, 8/10, my husband got the big spliff, he said it was 7/10, he would have preferred steak slices over steak chunks. Drinks are always good with a wide selection of beer, mixed drinks, and other offerings. Service is great order at counter and get a number, food arrives fairly quickly, and the vibes of the bar are amazing, chill laid back bar, watch the game, hang with friends, it's a must try in Jax!

Yelp
Great beer selection and good variety of food options. I had the chef special French dip with a side of chips. It was the perfect portion size and delicious. There is a lot of seating but much of it is bar stools/counter along the windows. The service is fast so tables open up quickly though.

Yelp
Spliff's has been on our radar for a while now. We finally planned a little burger lunch date. We walked in, checked out the menu then ordered at the bar. Hubby ordered an IPA and the patty melt my face with a side salad. I ordered the regs burger with pepper-jack cheese and the Greek pasta salad. The burgers were very good. Everything was made to order and tasted fresh. The burger meat had good flavor and the cheese was melted well. I really enjoyed the Greek pasta salad, too. The feta cheese and olives were lovely additions. I thought hubby's side salad was fresh and yummy as well. He really enjoyed his patty melt. I had a couple bites and would order it next time. The bartender was friendly, they had tasty food and a nice variety of local beer. Overall, a good lunch spot!

Yelp
Pretty quick service so it's a great place to go when you are attending something in the city. Our food was very good. Absolutely no frills here but very convenient and I would think reliable. Parking was easy and close by. Four star rating is based on the type of place and I only recommend it if it's ok to stand in line to order and not sit real comfortably.

Yelp
Tasty fun drinks and some cheesy yummy food ! So much is so cheesy! I LOVED the sandwich!!! They were so nice to split it in half for us and give us mac n cheese on our own plates. I also really liked my drink. Very juice for sure. A great drink for me ! I'd love to try the entree mac n cheese next time ! The side mac wasn't great flavor wise but it was still a good accompaniment to the sando! Sandwich was amazing!!!! My gf just didn't get a lot of filling on her half. But i was happy with mine lol maybe all her filling slid over to my half. Love that it's open late i can't wait to come here again !

Yelp
I came here with my girlfriend after a concert at the vystars veteran memorial arena. They were one of the few spots open which was a plus. Menu is simple and everything looked great. I got the clubbed chicken sandwich and my girlfriend got a mac and cheese steak bowl. Both menu options were delicious. We also got some drinks (margaritas, party to the max, and green tea shots). All were good. The staff is friendly and it seems like the best vibe of spots. Would recommend spliffs gastro pub 10/10

Yelp
What a great place to go for a drink and a quick bite. I think the veggie Mac and cheese was the best I've had in my life. We also ordered the loaded chips...very tasty. There are lots of cool beers to try and the prices are super reasonable. I'm not a huge fan of beer, but my husband's dark ale was so good. The service was casual, fast and friendly. The restaurant is casual and clean. Definitely recommend if you are in the downtown Jacksonville area.

Yelp
I have visited Spliff's twice now before seeing a show at the Florida Theatre. I love the food and vibe! On my first visit, I tried the Duvall Dirty Bird sandwich, which included a well seasoned chicken thigh, bacon, pepperjack, lettuce, tomato with habanero ranch. The combo of flavors was delicious! I devoured the side, cucumber, tomato and goat cheese salad. I could eat this as a main course. So good! On my last visit, I had the grilled cheeses, plus bacon, and fries. Another great choice! I can't forget to mention the tons of draft choices. And you can sample to find the one you like. Stop by and give them a try!

Yelp
Divey bar with solid food. Order at the counter and take a number back to your table. Food delivered in a reasonable time frame. Mac and cheese, rice bowls, and burgers were represented at our table. No complaints, plates cleaned. Steady patronage on a Tuesday early evening.
google avatar

Yelp
Chill spot with great vibes and solid food. The mac & cheese is a must, and they've got a nice beer selection too. Service was friendly and the patio's a great hang. Only knocking a star because it can get a bit loud inside but still one of my favorite downtown spots!
google avatar

Courtni S.

Yelp
This place is cute and welcoming. I had a nice local beer that I very much enjoyed. I was pretty disappointed with the food however, I've never had red onions on a patty melt before and they were almost raw. I opted for the "Greek salad" as a side and I found it odd that it was topped with goat cheese and not feta. I understand it's a gastro pub but I was served my meal on a paper plate with plastic utensils as a dine in customer. I'd go back for the beer and the great music but not so much the food.

Yelp
Headed over to Spliff's on a late weeknight, when barely anything was open downtown for late night eats. The menu looked way better than 'bar food,' although I would never have described this place as a gastropub, as the gastropubs I have visited before had a hip feel to them, while this did not. It just looked and felt like a bar that also happened to serve food. in part this was because the only chairs are barstools. I knew before getting there, that there would not be table service and ordering would take place at the bar. Their menu has a whole section of just 'mac and cheese' and I decided on the veggie (ordered without peppers). When my order came out, I saw that the top had a thick layer of breadcrumbs on it, and these clearly looked burnt on the top. Like, send it back to kitchen burnt. However, I was hungry and I figured I could peel off the top if necessary. Actually, the breadcrumbs, although visually unappealing, actually created a very nice crunch and textural element next to the macaroni and cheese, which was hot and creamy underneath. I also ordered a Liquid Death (seltzer water in a can).

Yelp
I was on a quest for food. Not only did I find a great place but they had quite the array of drinks...if your looking for that. I had the pork belly grilled cheese with Mac N Cheese. Located in DT Jacksonville, it's a convenient joint to check out no matter what takes you there.

Yelp
Service and food was excellent. It's known for its famous mac-n-cheese, I didn't get it, but the Big Spliff was to die for.

Yelp
Spliff's is basically a bar that serves upscale sandwiches. Think Bar first and restaurant second. Although the food was good, it takes A LONG time. Keep this in mind if you stop here before a show at the Florida Theater (next door practically) or the Jacksonville Symphony (few blocks away). Go when you have to relax, grab a couple of beers and get a decent sandwich. I had the "patty melt". First, they use Texas toast and not Rye bread (they list this on the menu, so not a complaint, just an observation). The burgers were cooked great (although I seriously doubt they were 1/3 pound each like the menu claims). My complaint - the onions were Red onions and MOSTLY RAW. Not caramelized they should be. My wife got the Cajun chicken sandwich. This was good. Cooked nice and flavorful. My last complain is the size of the "sides". They are not sides but samples. Think small ketchup take out containers. My pasta salad had 4 noodles, and I am not kidding. My wife's mac and cheese wasn't much better. For $15 sandwiches, I expect more. I know prices are high but adjust prices and give decent portions. One last observation - they don't say this on their menu (or if they do it is not obvious). They Buffalo chicken sandwich uses Carolina Reaper peppers. Be warned!

Yelp
There may not be much in downtown Jax but thank God for Spliff's as a dependable go-to for good drinks and good grub. I love their beer selection with a variety that suites whatever mood I'm in. You can never go wrong with any of their macaroni bowls, but this is the second time I got their huge greens plate with delicious Green Goddess dressing. We also tried the pot stickers that's were flavorful down to the last bite.
google avatar

Cybel P.

Yelp
The burger was absolutely delicious. All the toppings went very well together! Really liked the flavor of the Mac N Cheese really just wish the side dish wasn't as cold as it was.
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
Wow-so seriously-probably the best burger I've had in a seriously Long time!! I ordered the kettle chips with my burger (no fries)-they gave me seasoned rice, but quickly fixed. Don't make my mistake and get the chips though! Get a side salad-super fresh! Or better yet-the max and cheese-which looked delicious! Looking around at everyone else's food-it's all looked so good! We will be back!!
google avatar

Joe K.

Yelp
Delicious burgers for sure. I be back any time I am visiting the block! They have a lot to offer on the menu and stay open pretty late.
google avatar

Rick P.

Yelp
This place was really nice. Nice hole in the wall bar right down the block from the Florida theater. Good selection on beers and lots of local beers. Full bar. You have to go to the bar to order food but they give you a number and bring it out to your table. Good selection on menu for food items. We ordered the Thai potstickers, Mac and cheese and pretzel bites. All were very good and brought out hot and fast. Definitely will be back
google avatar

Stephen C.

Yelp
I got the Mac n cheese with chicken bowl with a side salad. The Mac n cheese wasn't not impressed. It was dry, hardy could taste a cheese sauce, and practically no seasoning. The side salad was fresh and good. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich and they forgot to put the chicken on it. They took it off the bill however it took a while to get another sandwich to go. Food was far from impressive. The staff behind the bar were good. The restaurant also plays terrible music the entire time.
google avatar

Clint S.

Yelp
I have heard great things so I stopped by Friday around 4:30. I checked out the menu then went to the bar to order a Patty Melt ($16) with a side of Mac and Cheese. The total was something north of $20. I thought that perhaps the Mac and Cheese was an upcharge but when I asked about the total I was told no Mac and cheese is a side option but the price was due to Fri/Sat pricing being in effect. There is no no notice of alternate pricing posted anywhere and the price I saw was on the menus which were in a display rack just inside the door. I canceled my order. If I have a negative experience at a restaurant I usually bring it to the manager's attention for any correction but in this case it is apparently the policy of Spliffs to charge more on weekends but without printing alternate menus. If you go I hope you will find the food good but if you are there on a Fri/Sat verify the prices before you get caught in their price-switch.

Yelp
Great food! Tasted fresh and flavorful! The Mac and cheese was definitely homemade. I'd come again!
google avatar

Yelp
My husband, Dog and I had to evacuate and we ended up in Jacksonville. We also were so lucky to visit this exceptional Gastro pub. The staff was incredible and the beers are off the chain! Please visit and support this awesome brewery!
google avatar

Yelp
Small place, big portion size, great flavor! During the day, a great place for lunch whether from work or visiting downtown Jacksonville. Just a few blocks from the St. John's River n down the street from the historic Florida Theater. I had the Foghorn Leghorn Mac n Cheese bowl n yes it was delicious! Packed with chicken, bacon , broccoli and mac n cheese, it is oh so delicious . The menu is full of delicious food to try. Outdoor seating is an option. I'm sure during sporting events like Jaguars and Jumbo Shrimp games it is a great place. Full bar. Definitely a recommendation for locals and visitors. If you don't believe me, try it for yourself.
google avatar

Yelp
Need a bite to eat late night in downtown Jacksonville but don't want to dress up? Spliff's may be the spot for you. This Gastropub is open seven nights a week until one in the morning with a pretty impressive menu of burgers, sandwiches, spliff pockets, salads, rice bowls and mac-n-cheese plates to satisfy your hunger pangs. I ordered the B.I.G. grilled cheese sandwich (cheddar, provolone, gouda) with added bacon. There are numerous side dish choices (kettle chips, broccoli, mac n cheese, side salad, seasoned rice, Greek pasta salad) that are included with every sandwich. After a short wait, an enormous, hot sandwich full of bacon was given to me. At the same time, a huge smile formed on my face. Needless to say, the warm gooey goodness hit the spot and filled my empty stomach. The service was quick, professional and efficient. I will be sure to return to Spliff's in the future.

Yelp
Outstanding food and beer selection! It's a hole in the wall joint with phenomenal food and friendly service. Around the corner from our hotel. So happy we came here!!The Cajun shrimp Mac & cheese was to die for! Crisped perfectly with cheese and bread crumbs, huge flavorful shrimp, bacon & spinach. I asked for no tomatoes because I despise them. Fantastic! I am so full! My husband got the pork belly sandwich and that was tender and delicious too. Beer selection is vast, and you can taste first. They have flights for sale also. Great local spot! If you want good beer and good food, come here! Order at the counter and sit where you want. High top tables and plenty of seats at the bar.
google avatar

Indo D.

Yelp
I always get the Wake n Bake, when I first bit into this burger, it tasted like something I never had before. The service is quick to order online, multiple ways, and if you choose to sit in, the environment is nice as well. I eat here often as I work downtown, and the food is worth the price!
google avatar

Danny M.

Yelp
Hole in the wall vibe with bouji prices. I used to frequent this place often when the prices were more reasonable. It's a great spot and possibly the only spot for late night eats in downtown Jax. Service is always great! but the food can be inconsistent. You'll have an amazing burger one day and next it'll taste like a frozen patty boiled in water. Anyways... My go to is the el carne caliente mac and cheese. Oh! and If you like craft beer this place is a no brainer!

allyson p.

Yelp
It was okay. Read the reviews so I came in with high expectations. They don't serve you, you basically serve yourself. Having to go up to the bar to order and get drinks, even when there's no one else there. I got the patty melt, my father got a burger, we both agreed they were greasy. To the point it was easier to eat it without the bread. I might've just gotten the wrong thing, I don't know. Solid 6/10.

R V.

Yelp
Nice hole in the wall kind of place. Food was tasty, a great selection of draft beers, and a fantastic atmosphere. Service was slow, but would visit again. Make sure if you're going to the theatre or symphony after to leave yourself extra time.

Dave S.

Yelp
One of the best burgers I've ever had. Nice selection of beer too. I'll be back! Recommend the burning man burger!

Yelp
We stopped by Spliff's Gastropub last night before heading into a concert at the Florida Theater. Our friends told us it was a great place to go before a show and I have to admit it was! Unfortunately, they had to handle a situation in the rest rooms (some loser intentionally trashed both bathrooms) so only 1 waitress/bartender was working the front. She worked her tail off running orders to tables and filling people's bar orders. We placed our orders up front and grabbed two seats at the bar. Our drinks were brought over right away. I ordered a Jameson and Ginger with a lime and my hubby ordered a couple beers while we were there. For dinner I ordered a Patty Melt your Face! My husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and we both got kettle chips on the side. I'm gonna tell you that my patty melt was one of the best I've ever had!! It was smash burger style on toasted bread with grilled onions and cheese and it was delicious!!! I ate every bite! My husband said his chicken sandwich was perfect as well! We go to the Florida Theater quite often and I think this will be our new favorite spot to hit before or after a show!
google avatar

Yelp
All I have to say is Sabreè & Angel are great great great! I felt like I've known them my whole life. They recommended a delicious drink which is the Ardwolf-Jag Water. We enjoyed that along with the Wake N Bake burger with a side of grilled broccoli. The burger was so good that I had to request a hug from chef Juice himself and thank him. I'm definitely coming back on my next business trip. This will be the ONLY place I come to for a juicy, flavorful, and scrumptious burger!
google avatar

Jose G.

Yelp
My very 1st visit here was simply awesome yesterday before the concert at the conveniently located Florida Theatre. Ordered the Patty Melt w/side of mac...So amazingly flavorful, super filling and tasty! Dining area along with the restrooms are clean and spacious. There's were very cool vibes while dining and listening to music. Shoutout to Maxine (my server), Celia, Sabree & the entire staff for superb service & food...They were all friendly and professional. Can't wait for my next visit and try other delicious food!
google avatar

Jade M.

Yelp
Really nice staff! I tried to use their touch less QR code for the menu, but for some reason it was not working. No worries, they had plenty of physical copies. You walk in and seat yourself, once you're ready to order you order at the register! They then give you a number to put on your table and they'll bring your food to you. I ordered the steak rice bowl, a side of Mac n cheese, and this huge Liquid Death sparkling water. I have never heard of Liquid Death before but it's actually really good! I really enjoyed my steak bowl. It was really tasteful and packed with flavor. The Mac n cheese was a little underwhelming, it wasn't as good as I was expecting. It was an average dish, but I really enjoyed the steak bowl! The food definitely filled me up for the rest of the day! I enjoyed my lunch here!

Yelp
Please read to see why I'm giving Spliff's 3 stars. We got here a bit after a UFC event at the nearby arena. We ordered inside (weren't told there would be a long wait, though we could see they were busy) and seated ourselves outside at the only available table. From when I did my Yelp check-in to when we got the food, we waited 50 minutes. We only ordered two burger meals, no customizations. We did a lot while we waited: walked around the block, said "no, sorry" to two panhandlers, did a lot of people watching, counted the number of squeaky old trucks that drove past us (Florida seems to have an unusual number of them), and mused over and over about where our food was. We also brainstormed what we were going to say in our review. In the end, the food did arrive and we really enjoyed it. My 8-year-old went from saying he would give a one-star review prior to the food, to being really pleased with the food; he gobbled it down, saying he would give them four stars after all. That said, the wait was just too excessive in my opinion. If they had told us it was a 45 minute wait or longer from the outset, we would have gone somewhere else. So, if you're coming after a big event, buyer beware. There will be a long wait. But, the food is very good, there are generous portions, and the cheese is melty and greasy. We really liked our burgers and the mac and cheese side was pretty good, too.

Yelp
Cool spot, I wish to visit again hopefully to come with family and friends to spend quantity time.

Yelp
Get the Mac & Cheese!!!! Was told by a local to pick one any one, so I order That's all folks, and there was NOTHING left. It was delicious. The burgers, very filling, flavorful for a side got the kettle chip. I would have given this place 5 stars but we did have quite a bit of wait, the food was WELL worth it. It could have went quicker if more than one person was talking orders, and to top it off they didn't get the order quite right, but still the food was AMAZING. If your in the area stop in by, BY the way, they have a wide variety of beers. The atmosphere is good, chill tunes, friendly staff and you will. It be disappointed.

Tim H.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a Monday. The place was pretty quiet. At the counter I ordered the Goat Boy Sandwich as I'm a fan of anything with goat cheese then proceeded to take a seat. The girl at the counter was very friendly. The sandwich was good and I was happy to see that they had a healthy option of broccoli for a side. I'd come back to grab a bite before a show at Florida Theatre maybe but wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Yelp
I got the veggie mac and cheese for takeout after a late evening concert and it was wonderful! It's exactly as described and I believe baked. I was impressed for the type of food I was able to get at 11pm!

Yelp
Interesting place - clean, nice staff, but odd in the sense that it feels as if it is having an identity crisis. Looking one direction it is almost an old diner feel, looking at another wall it's pub-ish. It's another walk up to order then go find a table place which was typical Jax based on our trip. Portion sizes are above average and there is plenty to choose from. My burger was good, came with a bag of chips - it's hard to have a spectacular burger when you order it without a bun...so no slam there. But...if you are going rest on "life changing mac & cheese" per the sign as you walk in the door, ya gotta nail the mac & cheese. This was meh at best and not the creamy, gooey kind, this is noodles with cheese. With each at $15, which I am fine paying for good food, it was just not worth it.

Been at the bar and always get lovely service I was craving some good Mac and cheese tonight so I uber eats an order of the OG Mac with chicken on the side I was so disappointed when with the Mac and cheese it was super dry. So dry I had to put some water in it and mix it up chicken. Was dry too. A 5 dollar boxed Mac and cheese would have hit better than this.dry Dry DRY
