The 4 Best Hostels in Split, Croatia (Updated 2025)

"I consider this the best party hostel in the city: owned by an Aussie and super social, it runs tons of free activities including pub crawls, beach days, and nights out, and is centrally located above Charlie’s Bar, a well-known backpacker drinking den. The dorms are no-frills — basic wooden bunks with thin mattresses and no curtains — but they do provide lockers and cap dorm sizes at eight people so rooms aren’t overly crowded; note that there’s no kitchen." - Matthew Kepnes

Dirty, small, received different room instead of what I booked through booking.com. No place to hang wet clothes after beach so room stinks bcs of other ppl's stuff and clothes. It's noisy at night till 3 am because of the bar downstairs, for me it wasn't a problem. They don't clean as they claimed to do between 11-2 pm only change linens for a new guests.

Hostel roommate was sleeping and wanted to sit down and relax. No common areas. Went to down to the hostel's bar and got kicked out right away in rude fashion even if we stayed at the hostel unless we bought alcool (it was 1pm). Also showers we're disgusting.

lovely hostel in the centre of split, close to a bunch of restaurants and bars. the views from marjam are to die for also so be sure to go there. AND the social planning team are absolute legends so when you come there be sure to go the events and meet rachel and caitlin!! 🎉🎉🎉

Hostel isn’t as pictured & there was no common rooms to socialise. it is actually quite dated and the bathroom on our floor seemed to have water damage from the bathroom above which was concerning. It also stated that cleaning was to be within 11am - 2pm each day however every day we stayed the cleaning lady was often cleaning the bathrooms at 5pm and turned the lights off on a few of us that had been taking a shower at that time after coming back from the beach. Besides this we did meet some great people in our dorms & the hostel manager and bar staff were very friendly which made the atmosphere a bit more welcoming. The hostel is in a great location also about a 5 minute walk from restaurants, clubs, and boat tour activities etc.

"Social" hostel is really a hit-or-miss, greatly depends on your roommates, but unfortunately I had a terrible ones during my stay. 4 group of friends stayed along with me in a 6-bed room, they owned the room, so messy and left no personal space. I had to leave the hostel until 00.00 when they finally left for partying. Even then, they decided to leave their keys inside the room and banged the door multiple times when me and 1 other (nice) roommate were trying to sleep. What do you expect? Hostel rooms have to be locked when you're out. Do you think banging the door louder from time to time will solve your problem? This review is still excluding all the loud ruckus after they came back from the party. Such ill-mannered people. I understand that this is not the hostel fault at all, and I was unlucky to meet them. But I hope the hostel team can enforce quiet times regulation for better hospitality. Allowing social environment does not mean that you disregard manner and respect to others.

Rooms were nice but they advertise as a social/party hostel with 0 common rooms at all. The hostel is just on top of the bar and they want you to go buy their overpriced drinks. They do have a pregame at their partner hostel but it ends at 9 pm and you aren’t allowed to stay longer for noise reasons. It is already more expensive than other hostels in the area and is just not worth in my opinion.

Right in the heart of split it is so easy to get anywhere from there. The rooms are clean and had great shower and toilet facilities. Special mention to caitlin who was organising the social activities when we there, she really made the nights for us so funny and great chat.

This is one of our favourite hostels we have experienced on our backpacking trip! As soon as we checked in we felt like family and was welcomed by all staff and guests we stayed with in the dorms. We absolutely loved the drinking games on the terrace each night which was really unique and allowed everyone to get to know each other. We met some incredible people here. Huge thanks to Mike and Issy! You both are absolute legends and really showed how a true warm and friendly hostel should be run. Can't wait to see you both at our grand opening of 'Drinkin in the Kitchen' and our wedding! Love you guys!
