26 of the Best Counter Service Spots in San Francisco | Eater SF

"From the minds behind Mixt, Split is an upscale, tech-savvy sandwich spot with two locations in SoMa, and a new spot in Russian Hill. A big emphasis on breakfast (including the ubiquitous, but always popular, avocado toast), plus sandwiches, salads and burgers for lunch and dinner make this a solid go-to. The newest location on Polk Street offers a punched-up dinner menu with entrees like grilled hangar steak with green peppercorn sauce, and Mt. Lassen trout." - Caleb Pershan

I tried Cado which is a vegetarian sandwich and has fried cauliflower in it. I felt it was a bit dry and could use bit more dressing. The service was fast. The place was clean and maintained.

Google
The restaurant is cool and located favorably. The staff was friendly and fast. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Perhaps I got the small? The bun was great, the slaw and sauce were great, but the portion of chicken seemed like a breast that was Split in half.

Shooka Li

Google
My experience at this restaurant was incredibly disappointing. The food was overpriced and tasteless — not worth the money at all. But the worst part? The staff were unbelievably rude and dismissive. It’s rare to feel this unwelcome at a restaurant. Do yourself a favor and stay away — there are plenty of places in the city with better food and basic respect for their customers.

Google
Super crowded during lunch, but the sandwich was tasty! It’s in the heart of Techland, with swarms of 20- and 30-somethings waiting in line between computer marathons. They offer burgers, sammies and salads, all of which are slightly above average price elsewhere, but I guess since the ingredients are (I’m assuming) organic, farm2table, locally sourced, conserved with minimum fair trade and offering gluten free options (!) it’s all worth it!

Google
Food is good but a burger, fries and a drink will set you back between $25-30. Then again, so will most other burger joints around. There’s outdoor seating in the plaza just outside the restaurant and it’s quite lovely on a cool afternoon when it isn’t too windy.

Google
First time at Split. Great farm to table joint. Veggie Avocado smash tasty. Never had sunflower spouts but they were a nice addition to the sandwich. Asked for the fries to be crispy & they were not so I guess extra crispy is the way to go next next time.

Google
No wonder the original burger is only about $11 for SF price and why no customers. Worse than fast food burger. The meat didn't have a grain of salt or seasoning with 1 piece of lettuce. Dont take 10 mins to cook a patty, they overcooked my burger, it's hard like a door stopper & looks like one. I ended up eating all the buns, thrown away the patty. The Habit tastes 1000% better than this.

Google
This place used to have great salads -- fresh and yummy, however, it has gone way down hill over the past year or so. The portions are about 30% smaller, the veggies not as fresh and the lettuce is sometimes dirty. Its too bad, I used to love it.

Yelp
I went out for lunch while at work and wanted to try something new, so I went to Split and tried the chicken Parmesan sandwich. While the sandwich was fresh and hot, it didn't hit the spot - it needed way more sauce and cheese! In a city with so many lunch options, not sure if I'll be back.

Yelp
I love Split!!! Their food is made with love! My faves are the Alamo salad The smokehouse burger in a lettuce wrap And their Brussels sprouts!!! I frequently pick up lunch from there and their food is always packaged beautifully and is always super tasty!

Yelp

Yelp
This is a great spot for when the work lunch crew can't decide on where to go. Split offers both burgers and salads and both options are equally good. There is usually a long line around lunch time but it moves fast. The food comes out fresh and hot and you can tell they use quality ingredients. It's a little bit on the pricey side but that's just par for the course for a quality lunch spot in San Francisco.
google avatar

Yelp
This place can be inconsistent--it's either a hit or a miss. Depending on who's preparing your salad, you might get less protein or fewer greens. Sometimes, ingredients are missing altogether. Split needs to improve their consistency. Considering the $18 price for this salad, we should reasonably expect it to be nearly perfect.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is great, the service is with care. Less hassle when you order ahead during peak times. There's outdoor seating for those San Francisco rare nice days.

Yelp
Really enjoy going to this place for a nice work lunch! I usually get a chicken sandwich or a salad when I come, although many of the chicken sandwiches have enough lettuce to make a salad as well. The fries are pretty good as well, although I wouldn't stray far from the regular fries or sweet potato variety. Service is usually pretty fast and the interior is clean. Appreciate that they have tables outside for hanging out as you munch!

Yelp
Split hits every time. Consequently, I need to start hitting the gym more consistently if I keep eating here. Split is easily the most convenient place for me to get lunch and because it's so good, I've been eating here way too much. My go to is the Crispy D'Lux with the Split Fries, but I've also had the Split Burger and the Fried Egg Sandwich with Applewood Smoked Bacon. All are solid options and you can't go wrong with either one. Keep in mind, however, that these are decent sized sandwiches and are likely to cause drowsiness upon consumption. Thus, you may need that afternoon espresso after downing one of these bad boys for lunch. The only negative is that Split is a popular choice for lunch and the lunch rush can be quite overwhelming. With that in mind, I recommend you either order super early or super late in order to avoid the rush. All in all, Split is quality and I certainly recommend it if you're not overly conscious about your daily calorie intake.

Yelp
Great find for breakfast in SFO downtown. Great easy to customizable options of scrambled eggs and delicious slides. Quick and convenient ample seating with majority of things self-service. Food is freshly prepared and delicious. Must visit if in the area. One star taken for little room of improvement in scrambled egg but again surely above par so no complaints.

Yelp
Manager welcomed us quickly Food came out quick They had some different veggie options on menu which i found exciting because its rare to have cool menu options for vegetarians ; i got the avocado/goat/crispy cauliflower sandwich Its clean and spaciouS If this establishment wants to improve on customer satisfaction i think the manager needs to be less impatient about taking client orders especially when there are only 4 people in line that came in together.. it comes across as rude and cold. Also, his staff is cold and dry. No hello.. its just food guys, and its a lunch...

Yelp
For starters, I would never order a salad for lunch, but OMG I'm so glad I did. The Split cobb salad was hella good! I opted for no bleu cheese. Their sirracha ranch dressing is amazing too. I asked for extra since it needed more dressing. The salad is also massive and u can totally eat the rest of it for dinner lol. I would definitely come back again and get my salads here! Also, I really liked their lemonade.

Yelp
Walking around SF, we decided to get a quick lunch and Split hit the spot. I chose the Crispy D'Lux (Chicken, bacon, avocado and sriracha dressing on a challah bun) and Carol chose the Sonoma (Roasted chicken, apple, goat cheese and walnut currant spread on a toasted francese roll). Both were delivered quickly and excellent. Nice place for lunch.
google avatar

Tim B.

Yelp
Sahara dessert, coal in your stocking, cinnamon sticks, brick wall, croutons, shredded wheat. What do all these things have in common? They are as dry as the chicken on my Sonoma Sandwich! We had Split cater our Monday business lunch recently in downtown SF. Everything seemed to be using top notch ingredients on my Sammy, side and Iced-T. But for some reason they decided to use Chicken cooked the prior week. It was just silly dry and terrible. Disappointing to be sure and I didn't have time to go out to find something else.

Erik E.

Yelp
Food is good when you get it. Paid almost $70 for a salad, sandwich, and fries for delivery. We get the stapled bag from our driver and the salad is not in there. The most expensive item is conveniently left out of the bag before they stapled it and gave it to the driver.

Yelp
My coworkers and I ordered a big group lunch for a Thursday afternoon. I went with the Mandarin salad and an iced tea. Everyone seemed to have something wrong with their order: missing ingredients, ingredients that had been requested to be left out due to food allergies were left in (those people had to find something else to eat nearby), ingredients that weren't supposed to be part of the dish that had been added in. My salad was supposed to have crispy chicken but only had a very small handful, with mainly shredded chicken in its place. The amount of dressing in the tiny cup they give you wasn't nearly enough for the size of the salad, so the bulk of the salad went undressed. The crispy chicken was a bit dry and the entire salad was bland and underwhelming. It was mainly just dry chicken and lettuce with a very small amount of green onions, oranges, and other ingredients mixed in (so negligible I hardly saw or tasted any through most of the meal). The plastic iced tea bottle was incredibly cheap, thin, and flimsy, and the lid was faulty -- I had to pop it open with a knife and the bottle kept dribbling tea everywhere. The chocolate chip cookies were alright, but had clearly started to harden and weren't as chewy as they probably were hours before. This was not a good meal and, looking around at my coworkers sitting nearby at the end of lunch, most people didn't finish their food. I don't like wasting food but I couldn't finish that salad. Split's food looks much better online than in person and reads better on a menu than it tastes. Very disappointing and wouldn't choose this as a lunch option myself if I were in the area.

Yelp
Great comfort food and fresh salads I come here religiously to have their mandarin salad for lunch - a fun and healthy option and the quality is consistent This one time I got the buffalo sandwhich and I asked for all sauces on side but still got a wet slaw on top of my burger. Didn't know slaw wasn't sauce and regrettably ate half of it. But the manager was sweet enough to redo my order at no cost! Win for customer loyalty!!!

Yelp
I know this is a hard neighborhood to run a restaurant right now with so much continued WFH, but I still don't think the quality of the food lives up to the prices. With tax and employee mandate charges, I paid nearly $11 for terrible avocado toast. The bread was thinner than any pre-packaged sliced bread I buy at home and completely soggy, even though I began to eat my toast within literally 2 minutes of them handing it to me (and I had not preordered, either). The avocado is just a schmear of what is basically grocery store guacamole - no whole pieces of avocado, let alone nice looking slices. And then they smother it in arugula, which makes no sense to me - I basically have to eat a cheap side salad before I get to what I actually ordered? This wasn't worth more than $5, realistically.

Yelp
The way I absolutely inhaled this burger! It was absolutely delicious! Caramelized onions and the blue cheese were a unexpectedly wonderful combo! The patty was cooked perfect!

Yelp
Solid food and amazing staff! Buckle up it's story time. I work at a start up around the corner and came here for a team lunch with my boss and a few coworkers. We got in line and my boss handed me the corp credit card, gave me his order, and went to find a table for us. I ordered and sat down with my team. A few minutes later I received a text that my order was ready at the pick up counter. I walked over to the counter, reviewed our order, and realized I had made a HUGE mistake. I forgot to order a Crispy Chicken sandwich for my boss!! In an absolute panic, I started to review my options. The lunch rush had already come in and the line was out the door. Do I get back in line or give my sandwich away?? I ended up going with option 3. I put my tail between my legs and told the staff at the pick-up counter what I had done. They immediately sprung into action. Letting me cut the line at the cashier to pay for crispy chicken and handed me my order in less than a minute. I had several employees ask if they had missed my order. Nope, this was 100% on me and they saved my tuchus and probably my career! I made it back to the table without anyone noticing my massive F up. 10/10 - would give them 6 stars on yelp if I could. Thank you Split staff!

Yelp
Lots of good food This place has a good menu. The burgers are pretty tasty. One of my favs is the chicken cobb salad. The first time I tried it I thought it was a bit expensive as I was ordering. Once it came out I thought it was a great deal. They don't skimp on the the chicken bacon or avocado. A solid lunch stop.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the healthy wrap, very nice staff, very welcoming. It is very flavorful and fresh. I will most likely revisit to try the lunch menu.

Yelp
I've always come here for a quick lunch bite during the middle of my busy work day. There is always a line but I think it's well worth the wait for their fried chicken. For the more health conscious eater, the fried chicken salad is such a delicious choice. They give generous portion of the fried chicken and the flavor fits right into the salad that I don't even need much of the dressing. The sweet potato fries are a must-try as well.
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
I'm not split about this burger. It's overall dry and on the coldish side when ironically it's overcooked even though I've asked for it medium rare. The service is slow and the bun falls apart. This is about double the price of Carl's Jr and three times the price of Wendy's for a burger that tastes like it came from the freezer section of the grocery store. And crappy cold and soggy fries that are 4x the price, but not even half the quality. I'll pass thanks.
google avatar

Jerry W.

Yelp
Their Classic ($11.00) is a crispy fried chicken breast served on a grilled bun with lettuce and house pickles. What I did like about this sandwich was they seasoned the batter for the crust. There is nothing worst than boring crust on fried chicken. I also liked the grilled buns, gives a bit more texture then just plain old buns. What I did not like was the house pickles... I usually love pickles, but the flavor overpowered the chicken. Had more pickle flavor than crust. I like their herb mayo, but I think its bit heavy on the dill.

Yelp
Split has become one of my favorite go-to options for big work lunches.Their diverse array of lunch offerings has been so helpful for planning lunches for groups with different dietary needs/restrictions. I love that they everything from fresh salads, to hearty burgers, veggie patties, veggie sandwiches, and lovely sides - like brussels sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potato fries and more. Their delivery process has always been smooth - and just last week - I experienced their pick-up option - which was both easy to use and efficient. If you're needing to plan a work lunch for a group - I highly suggest using Split. Their catering staff are pretty helpful if anything comes up, their food always tastes fresh, and their menu is a dream for any and all dietary preferences. Trust.

Yelp
Doesn't it seem like your lunch choices get more and more limited? I used to work across the street from here and risked my life jaywalking Mission to go not to Mixt Greens where most of my colleagues went but to Murphy's Deli next door where barely anybody went. That's because I much preferred having a pastrami sandwich than a designer salad for lunch. Sure, it wasn't healthy, but it was cheaper even though I had garlic mayo breath when I came back to the office. Then Murphy's became Split (formerly Split Bread) which is a cousin of Mixt (formerly Mixt Greens). Now I'm confused because they appear to serve similar menus in adjacent spaces. Maybe that's what FiDi office drones want to have I recently met a friend and former colleague for lunch here and remembered that I tried the first Split over at the Metreon a few years back. For lunch, they all offer a selection of burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I guess the burgers are what sets Split apart from Mixt. Anyhow, I wisely avoided the ground beef for a change and went with the $12.95 Kale Caesar Salad with Spit Roasted Pulled Chicken because it had avocado, garlic croutons, and shaved Parmesan cheese in it, i.e., all the trimmings (photo: http://bit.ly/2oeacVH). It was decent enough, although the kale was actually a bit on the sparse side for a full-meal salad. It was probably just as well since I wasn't looking to fill myself up. Maybe some pastrami and garlic mayo could have helped. FOOD - 3 stars...a kale Caesar that was OK but not for the ages AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...definitely a nicer use of the JP Morgan space than Murphy's SERVICE - 3 stars...pretty much on automatic TOTAL - 3 stars...Mixt, Split...what's the difference?

Yelp
I usually eat here all the time with my co-workers. Never ever got sick from the food. Order a burger & roasted cauliflower and was left with food poisoning. Not sure if they cooked my food correctly. Will not come back.

Yelp
Got the fried chicken sandwich for lunch. Nice sandwich, enjoyed the sauce and pickles. Would certainly recommend eating it right away, dont let it sit for later.... it will get soggy.

Yelp
Came here the other day for lunch with some coworkers who were also in the office that day, and I have to say, Split has one of the best fried chicken burgers I've EVER had! Step aside The Bird, there's a new king in town! Having both a breakfast and lunch menu, Split is a great place to stop by whether for the early morning jump start with some yogurt and granola or salmon avocado toast, or for the lunch crowd with some delicious chicken burgers or chicken salads. There's definitely plenty of delicious options to choose from. For my short trek down to Split this time, I had the Crispy D'Lux burger, which consisted of a perfectly fried piece of chicken, that had an amazing crispiness to it, while not soaking in grease and oil. Add some bacon, avocados, pickles, lettuce, and some siracha sauce to spice it up, and sandwich it all in between two perfectly shaped challah buns, and you have yourself a 5 star worthy crispy chicken sandwich. It was so good in fact, that I ate every last crumb as it seemed a crime to let any of it go to waste. Service here is very friendly and efficient, and your order comes out fairly quickly after ordering. Certainly would not hesitate to come here for lunch again in the future!
google avatar

Michael Min C.

Yelp
Went today for a late lunch around 2:30 pm. I had the reserve which is the bacon cheese burger and butternut squash. The reserve was awful. The hamburger meat had a foul smell and taste like when hamburger meat that goes bad in the fridge. For a burger that is $12.95 you expect a lot more in terms of quality. The butternut squash was good. However, for this price point I would just go to Melt, Gotts, Super Duper, or Roam for a much better burger.
google avatar

Kathleen Q.

Yelp
Ordered the veggie burger with sauteed mushrooms and caramelized onions. Pretty good except for the fact that the patty fell apart while i was eating it so i had to use a fork at the end to finish up. Would recommend trying this place out!

Yelp
Just enjoyed a satisfying lunch on the company. We placed the order online for a designated pick-up time. When we showed up, we had to wait another 5-10 minutes for the order to be completed. Once we got to the office, we realized a few items (order of fries and a cookie) had been left out and the custom ordered sandwich was made regularly (without the requested grilled onions). Oddly enough, the missing items weren't showing up on the receipt either. Enjoyed my sandwich, lemonade and fries. The signature white sauce is deliciously addicting with fries. The food was pretty good but expensive. I doubt i'll be back anytime soon to drop $20 of my own hard earned cash on a fast-food lunch.

Yelp
We've catered from Split Bread a couple of times and I quite enjoy their salads and sandwiches. Especially when it's a fried chicken sandwich. The afore-mentioned classic fried chicken sandwich holds up surprisingly well for delivery. You get a generous portion of chicken breast fried to crispy tastiness. It's paired very simply with pickles, lettuce, mayo in a soft bun. Very classic combination but also very satisfying. Love their salads especially the picnic kale and mix green salad. I love the addition of the pumpkin seeds, fennel, and roasted potatoes for a very hearty vegetarian salad. The grove salad is pretty decent too if you like your salads to have something sweet in them. My only ding is the tiny bottle of salad dressing that comes with each big catering bowl. It's a little too precious. All up Split Bread is a decent spot for lunchtime sandwiches and salads.
google avatar

Neil P.

Yelp
Busy place at lunch time. Plenty of sitting and clean place! Ordered the veggie burger with a fried egg. The avacodo and fried egg is a great combination. The burger was a bit dry though. The fries were cooked well, good Parmesan cheese and the chipotle ranch had a nice kick.
google avatar

Yelp
It's becoming one of my favorite "cheat day" lunch spots. They have burgers, chicken sandwiches... plenty of options and fulfilling portions. Sometimes I'll go with coworkers who opt for a salad, but I can never get myself to get a salad here because the other options are too tempting. Gotta get the split fries, with herbs & parmesan. The Classic Crispy Sandwich is good. Though very crispy. And the Split Burger is a staple.
google avatar

Sherry Y.

Yelp
Don't come here too often bc it's freaked expensive. I typically get #66 crispy chicken sandwich ~$11.95 without tax. It's usually pretty good but the one I ate today was fucken salty as shit. The line too wayy too long today but food was ready almost instantly after I ordered. This is not always the case...I've been here before and line moves fairly quick but food takes awhile. I've had the Chicken Parmesan but didn't think it was as good as the Crispy chicken. I didn't think I would like the black bean sauce but surprisingly really enjoyed it.
google avatar

Lorena H.

Yelp
TAKE OUT Take out service for lunch was really convenient and super fast (the regular order line was crazy but the service seemed to be fast)! Ordered the CALI salad ($11.95) - Romaine, roasted cauliflower, avocado, cherry tomatoes, mixt seeds, sunflower sprouts, seasonal radishes, quinoa, garlic herb croutons, spiced lemon vinaigrette, topped with crispy carrot strings. Overall, the salad was really good, but not the best salad I've ever had. Next time I'll definitely try the veggie burger or the 'Cado sandwich. The Fresh Squeezed Lemonade was great, though!

Yelp
Crispy deluxe chicken Sandwich was really good with Avacado and bacon Burger Reserve tasty with horseradish and bacon. Side of brussel sprouts and fries Order ahead said it would take 25 minutes so we waited to pick up. The food itself must have been ready way sooner as it was all room temp to cool
google avatar

Yelp
I was hoping to really like this place. I got the recommended #85, **Crispy chicken 'parm', grandma's tomato sauce, ricotta, basil, mozzarella, shaved parmesan on toasted ciabatta for $11.95. In some of the pictures on yelp, it looks extremely amazing. When I got my sandwich, I knew right away it was soggy. Not sure if its normally like that or that my sandwich has been sitting out for a while before they push my buzzer. No idea but it made my sandwich not too pleasant. My friend took a couple of bites and just ate the chicken. My friend and I shared their **Mixt greens w/ shaved fennel, champagne vinaigrette. I didn't think they gave enough dressing and fennels. The salad was a bit too dry for me and I'm not ones who soaked their salads with dressing. We ate half because the others parts of the salad was without any seasoning and dressing. We also shared the **Split fries w/ herbs and shaved parmesan. I really think it was the person making our plate but our fries were not full and it was mostly burnt. I'm such a sucker for fries and it totally disappoint. I saw the other orders as they were walking pass me and I was jealous. Theirs was full and nicely golden. I am willing to give this a try because I think it can be better. The restaurant itself is very modern. Clean and nice. The line was super long at noon. The people taking the order was slow. Overall I think the wait was pretty long. With waiting in line and getting my food, it took 30 mins. I will need to come around 1pm, hopefully to avoid the long wait. But I am going to give it another try. I think its just the consistently.
google avatar

Kristie C.

Yelp
$12.95 pre-tax for chicken salad: a bit expensive for lunch, but the ingredient diversity + quality was worth the price. Price is basically the same as mixt greens or tender greens, but I'd pick this place over either of those joints any day. The food: - "Picnic" salad was mixed greens + kale with pulled chicken, and a delicious homemade dressing. Liked the textures of all the greens + the sunflower seeds too - Ginger molasses cookie was chewy and not too sweet. TLDR: would come back. - Outdoor seating available - Medium price - Fast service / order ahead available

Yelp
Whenever I crave a burger my stomach is fantasizing about a Split burger. You know a burger was made with love when it begins to drip meat juices the second you bite into it. It's so dangerous that this place is half a block away from my office because I might just gain 10 pounds from eating lunch here for 1 week straight. It's your classic American food joint with burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Everything is worth a try hence why I'd go here for lunch for a week straight. There is a great combination of flavors and fresh food with any selection on the menu. The place is always spotless, very clean. Beware the meal times. Lunch is not served till 10:30am and the place closes at 3:00pm. So if you're wanting to grab a quick bite after work, this is not the place to go. The only thing I would knock down 1 star for this place is the price. A main dish and a side can rack up real quick, almost $18. As a recent graduate starting my career with an entry level position, paying for a meal like that constantly can be a bit much. However because the taste of every item on the menu is delicious, I won't deduct a star. Aside from that, nothing else is bad about it so far.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Split Cobb salad is where it's at! Only down fall is the $13.99 price tag but that's SF for you. The Mandarin salad with the crispy chicken is also legitimately good. On the side, you just get the split fries or the brussel sprouts. Extra $4.99 but totally worth it. Best salad place to go to for a quick and delicious bite!

Yelp
Let's cut right to the chase: I had the No. 91 (heirloom tomatoes, fresh burrata, black mission fig jam, basil, mint, and arugula, on toasted ciabatta; $10.95), and although it was tasty (although there wasn't actually any mint or jam, just chunks of fig falling out), it was one of the wettest sandwiches I have ever eaten in my life. And because it was just sooooooooo messy, it actually took away from the flavor as so much of my eating was concentrated on not getting the sandwich juice literally everywhere on everything (my shirt, my pants, the person to the left of me [she got some on her sleeve, shhhhhhhh! don't tell], the person to the left of me, in my hair, all over my face, etc.). I'm also bummed that this was my lone vegetarian option. If I came here again, I would try a salad (specifically the "Feel Good": which included mixt greens, avocado, chickpeas, quinoa, radish, edamame, cucumber, red onion, fresh herbs, cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette) - they seemed like the better deal. Same price point as a sandwich, but seemingly way more bang for your buck. Other than the disappointing food experience, the staff seemed friendly enough and busted through the lengthy queue in a pretty speedy manor; the space itself seemed airy and clean, though I would advise to sit outside if the weather permits!

Yelp
This location of Split has pretty good interiors and enough seating options but the place overflows in peak times. The menu is crisp and nice. We hit it in peak time but service was quick. Had the Avocado toast - very nicely made. Bread was great. Serving portion was smaller than expected but I appreciate the light lunch. Crispy Brussels were fantastic though the plate was full of Brussels leaves than actual Brussels florets. To summarize - great food quality but very pricey.

Yelp
She thicc!!! Ever since the rise of the Popeyes chicken sandwich I have been more curious about trying different Chicken sandwiches. This one lived up to my dreams. It somehow was not heavy and although fried felt airy and like a slightly healthier take. The sauce was pleasant and had a nice touch of acidity. I also had a side of roasted cauliflower with a delicious spicy ranch sauce. Overall I would recommend

Yelp
Expensive! Classic chicken sandwich plus Split fries cost $18. The sandwich is of good quality overall but the chicken itself is a bit on the dry and bland side. It's got a nice balance of meat, bread, and vegetables though and still has a satisfying taste. The Split fries come in a decent portion size and I like the sriracha ranch sauce that it comes with. As far as chicken sandwiches go, I feel that The Bird (just a block away) is a better sandwich and a much better deal. It's a different style (with seasoned curly fries!), but Split is still a good option when I'm craving something else.

Yelp
I got the No 72, which was supposed to be BBQ pulled chicken. They definitely could have put some BBQ sauce on this sandwich, cause the chicken was drier than the Sahara Desert. The chicken just kind of turned into this paste in my mouth, not appetizing. My other beef with this place was the guy taking the orders. Maybe he thought he was being funny. I walked up to the counter, and he said "Hows your day?". I replied" Good, can I get a No 72". Maybe he didn't hear me... He replies: "I said... How was your day?" Excuse me?! I'm here to order my food, and your are preventing me from doing that because you want to know how my day is going? So you won't take my order until I tell you, well I don't see how its any of your business! I am here to order a sandwhich, do your job. ... I was more than a bit miffed.

Yelp
Meh! While working out in SF on a day where clearly many restaurants were closed myself and a co-worker ended up here. It's located on the first floor of our building, I was a bit apprehensive due to the less than stellar reviews and 3 1/2 star rating. Upon walking inside I thought maybe the reviews were wrong because it was jam packed and the line was literally out the door. I heard from a few co-workers that the burgers were good but after trying to go to The Bird and my mouth and stomach being set on a fried chicken sandwich that's what I was hoping to get here. The interior of this restaurant is very nice and quite modern, I love the tan U-shaped booths and mixture of booths and tables they have here. The restaurant itself is a bit on the small side so it may be very hard to find seating here if coming during the busy lunch rush. The walls are covered in some nice artwork as well. Now to the menu, they have breakfast and lunch options. As far as burgers they have a few different options but there seems to be more chicken sandwiches on the menu and they also have veggie sandwiches. I opted for the Parm Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Split fries. I loved that the kitchen was pretty much an open kitchen because I was able to see my entire meal being made. The fried chicken for the sandwiches are hand breaded here and fried fresh, the cheese looks freshly grated, not sure if the fries are cut fresh but they are fried right then and there and not sitting around. I had high expectations after seeing everything made. The sandwich had a good amount of mozzarella cheese, but not too much tomato sauce and the sauce was quite bland. The ciabatta bread was good and tasted fresh and while the chicken was good it wasn't all that crispy and the breading was falling off. Huge disappointment. I was hoping for a sandwich that was so full of flavor and very crispy. The split fries were ok, they were topped with shaved Parmesan and herbs and served with a yummy sriracha ranch. I would have liked for the fries to have been a little more crispy and maybe some garlic added for flavor. I'm not sure that I would come back here, the meal just wasn't as good as I had hoped and it's definitely a bit too pricey.

Yelp
They tried to severely make me sick by serving a completely raw burger. This place is disgusting. If a raw burger is able to make it to your plate imagine what you are not seeing.
