I had my baby shower at Spoonbread restaurant and it was everything I could ask for and more. Mary was a joy to work with and made sure every detail was taken care of. She went above and beyond for my special event. The guests loved the food and the space was beautiful. The ambiance is charming and the space feels intimate and personal for a private event. I am so glad I chose this venue to celebrate this special event with family and friends. I will always cherish that time. I highly recommend your special event here!

I worked as a server at The Cliffs, The Hyatt, The Melting Pot, a $75/person steakhouse, and Applebee's. I've been known to frequently tip 40-50%, if not 100%. I've even tipped $500 on $50 once. My favorite servers have received $100 tips at Christmas or Thanksgiving just because.... But that stopped because good service has stopped. Forget good service... people doing their job in nearly every industry has stopped. This week I ate breakfast at the same place 3 times. It was inside one of the nicest hotels in Greenville - Spoonbread in the Westin Poinsett. On Monday - I asked for a refill of a drink where soda is $3 per bottle for an 8oz bottle. 30 minutes later I had not received the refill or the bill. I had to seek out my server to get her to do her job. Instead of apologizing for failing to do her job, the waitress added it to my bill and laughed when she saw my shocked face telling me to just take it with me. Why on Earth would I want a $3 miniature soda with no ice to go? On Wednesday - It took 20 to 30 minutes just to get a water. No one ever came to take my order. Finally I got up and tracked down a server. I was told the only thing available was the $25 buffet. I go here bc i can get a large fruit plate for $6.50. I was told I could get unlimited fruit for $25. On Thursday - I had the same server who could not get me a refill in half an hour on Monday. She recognized me and made a snide comment bc $3 on $20 apparently isn't sufficient. 15% when you do mot do your job is beyond sufficient. You can imagine the quality of service we received. Don't tell me I don't understand. I've walked 10,000 miles in those shoes. I know what laziness is in the service world. If I can't expect my server to do their job, why should a server expect a tip?

I had my 40th Birthday Tea here and it was wonderful! Mary was so easy to work with and answered all my questions. She went above and beyond to make the day special and my guests had the best time. Highly recommend for birthdays, bridal/baby showers or “just because” occasions.

Went to an afternoon tea on December 14th and had a wonderful experience. The food and service were wonderful. Mary made sure all of our needs were taken care of. Definitely recommend for a unique experience

Google
I would give these place 3 stars but bumped it up to 4 stars because of the amazing service. All of the staff were very friendly and nice. I believe our waitress name was Aubrey and she did a fantastic job. The food wasn’t anything special but good. Overall not a spot I would recommend but it’s an option.

Definitely for the older more sedate crowd. Think Frank Sinatra piano bar. Service was great. Do not recommend the Reubens sandwich, …wheat toast?

While staying at the Westin Poinset as a large group for work, we mustered here each morning for breakfast. We all have status with Bonvoy and got free breakfast here each morning, which was actually pretty good! The service was helpful and friendly. They also have a decent breakfast buffet which had fresh and tasty items on it. I did order from the menu one morning and it was decent, but my omelette was slightly over-cooked (I don’t like brown on my eggs). The venue is beautiful and a great place to start the day. It’s a great deal for free! But if I had to pay for breakfast, I’d

Went here for Saturday High Tea to celebrate my daughter’s birthday (and upcoming baby’s birth!) and the experience could not have been better. The wide selection of teas, combined with incredible baked goods - the scones were some of the best I’ve ever had! - and the great service made it an afternoon to remember. I’d strongly recommend their High Tea for anyone looking for a relaxing, elegant time.

Yelp
They have a grits bar with biscuits , choices of gravies , 3 different chopped meats to choose from , and varieties of toppings for &15 unli. But we were not that hungry so decided on grilled cheese with sweet potato fries - amazing good Chicken waffles - moist , tender , crispy Caesar salad large- which I think they cna really make it large - ( portion kinda small for a large ) $4 mimosa and Bloody Mary ( small glass ) which is good.

Yelp
Had breakfast here this morning. I ordered the Classic Benedict with bacon and grits. It took a while for it to come it and when it did the eggs were poached hard, grits cold and no bacon and the hollandaise sauce had too much vinegar. The server did make it right, it did take quite a while to come out again but this time it was done perfectly. The server was awesome and was very apologetic. I may skip the menu next time and just do the buffet next time. It looked plentiful, hot and lots of different choices.

Yelp
The Spoonbread Restaurant is located in the Westin Pointsett hotel. I dined here for breakfast twice. I could order off the menu or do the buffet because of my Platinum level with the hotel. The restaurant is open for lunch as well and was named after a cornmeal dish. I liked the historic feel to the restaurant with the hand tiled floors and the light fixtures, high ceilings and large windows. The service was very friendly and helpful. On both days they made sure I had everything I needed. When I struggled to open the jam some was brought from the buffet. I'm not a fan of buffets so ordered from the menu both times. The first day I had the Spoonbread breakfast which for me was two eggs; bacon; fruit; and an English muffin. It was substantial. The next day I went with the waffles with fruit compote and was given a side of bacon as well. It came with fruit and syrup so I did half with each topping. It was less substantial than the previous day but I had a brunch to head to later so wanted less.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by one afternoon while attending a dessert tour. This was our first stop, and one of my favorites! It's hard not to love a decadent chocolate dessert. After all, you can't trust anyone who doesn't like chocolate The hotel where the restaurant is located is beautiful, and historic. A plus for us!

Yelp
I have eaten at this restaurant a dozen times and it keeps getting worse. Cold food, bad food, horrible service with servers not even having clean clothes on. I don't know what happen to this once wonderful restaurant but it has been in decline for a while and the Westin Poinsett which the restaurant is in it in the same decline. So sad. Avoid the restaurant and hotel. There are plenty others in town.

Yelp
A group of ladies and I enjoyed High Tea service at Spoonbread in memory of a friend that had passed away. We celebrated her life and her birthday in a way she really would have enjoyed. The service was always on time and the food was simply delicious. My favorite item was lemon poppy seed scones. Everything was really very delightful. You are able.to select 2 different teas to have during the service to enjoy along with the scones, cake bites, and mini sandwiches.

Yelp
6/10 The context for this review is that I've been here for breakfast only several times, with that breakfast being fully comped as part of having platinum elite status or higher with the Marriott hotel this restaurant is located in. The service here is good, not great. The ambience is a bit more upscale. At around 7am-8-am, the restaurant was mostly empty. A buffet is offered as one of the options, but I didn't see anyone order it. Coffee and juice are offered once you sit down. The coffee is okay though I was never offered a refill while dining so am not sure if it's one cup and done or if you can request more. On a previous stay a few years ago, I think I was offered additional coffee, though I can't remember for sure. Here are my thoughts on a few of their menu items: Waffles with Pecans - This came with whipped cream, maple syrup, and butter. The waffles were fine, though they look like they came out of a waffle iron you'd find in at a self-serve free breakfast at a hotel. It was cooked as such too as there was some odd burns/charring on the bottom of the waffle which was a bit puzzling. The whipped cream was thick, so at least this didn't come from a can. Spoonbread Breakfast - this was fine, though unmemorable. For what would have been the cost, not the most food. Grits desperately needed more flavor - salt, cheese, butter, something. Seared Salmon - Salmon had a nice sear, but ever so slightly underdone, though still perfectly edible. Quiche - not bad, probably the best thing I had here. Overall, given the monetary cost and opportunity cost of eating here, I don't really think this is worth it. You're in downtown Greenville - you can do better elsewhere. If, however, you're eating here for free through the hotel then sure, it's a decent breakfast and better than a typical cheap hotel breakfast.

Yelp
Great service. Breakfast was alright. They did run out of eggs so my boyfriend had to eat scrambled instead of the over easy eggs he ordered. My ham and cheese omelet was good. You are paying for ambience more than the food. Could have got a similar meal for about half the price somewhere else.

Yelp
Easter Brunch was the best Easter brunch I ever had. Bob was our server and he was efficient and kind. My fiancé and I really appreciated him. The manager (?) was super friendly. He was German, if that helps narrow down who I am talking about. We took a photo with the Easter bunny! I didn't get her name, but the bartender was excellent. She had such a magnetic smile!

Yelp
This review is for breakfast only. The food for me was fine but certainly nothing special or exciting. It was enjoyable enough. We didn't send anything back but as I write this I can't remember what I ordered so obviously the impression was faint. It was a quiche or a frittata maybe? Definitely eggs. Anyway, if you are staying in the hotel and just want an easy quick bite for breakfast this is a fine option. If you want to be mesmerized look elsewhere.

Yelp
Located inside the Westin Hotel in beautiful downtown Greenville, SC, breakfast was yummy and service was good. Just a little on the pricey side for what you get. I was hoping to do their breakfast buffet but, you know, COVID - so no buffet. I think that would've given me a lot more bang for my buck. But it was a nice place for a good breakfast.

Yelp
Upon arriving I was greeted with a smiling face, which is always a plus, and directed to my table. Their buffet style breakfast selection and omelette station was quite satisfying. Our waitress was very attentive to any needs the we had. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

What a fabulous place to have breakfast! Beautiful interior and awesome service. I cannot forget to mention that delicious breakfast!! Must try while staying in Greenville.

Yelp
My mom and I came for breakfast, but we'd just missed their service hours! Rather than turning us away, they accommodated is in the piano lounge, gave us spectacular service and spectacular food! Strong Starbucks coffee, yummy warm pastries, perfectly fresh fruit...the works! It was a FEAST! I had the grilled salmon with scrambled eggs and arugula salad - amazing! The salad had roasted tomatoes. I typically don't like "hotel food," and this blew me away. Simple and scrumptious! My mom's omelette was far superior to any other breakfast she's had in town thus far. "Very homemade" are her words. The croissants are flaky and fresh! Ask for EVELYN, she is a gem! The Spoonbread is very lucky to have her! So attentive, professional and personable. Stopping in here really gave us a great start to the day!

Yelp
This is an often overlooked restaurant and it's located inside the Westin Poinsett Hotel downtown. It reminds me of restaurants in the 60s with white tablecloths, beautiful decor, and relaxing atmosphere. The waitstaff is pleasant and attentive. The food is properly prepared and very delicious! I especially like the breakfast dishes and also the Reuben sandwich. If you're looking for a restaurant with delicious food, reasonable prices, great service, and a quiet setting then try Spoonbread in downtown Greenville.

Yelp
We love this restaurant tucked away in the Westin Poinsett with the exception of the mean-spirited hostess, Mary. (She seems to lord of over the waitstaff and persecuted our favorite waitress, Sylvia, by making us wait over an hour to get a table in her station and then crossing our names off the list altogether forcing us to call a manager for help). The restaurant is charmingly appointed with lovely metal ceilings and ornately tiled floors. The white tablecloths and green walls evoke an old world charm. Sylvia (our favorite waitress) is the epitome of graciousness. Her bubbly personality and zest for life are both welcoming and contagious. The chef (Curtis Wolfe) is amazing and took special care to ensure that we were protected from gluten cross-contamination. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this Greenville gem Update: We returned today and Mary apologized. Everyone can have a bad day so all is forgiven.

Yelp
This place is too well-kept of a secret. Even though I work downtown, I usually forget about Spoonbread, but the half-dozen times I've been here since the renovated Westin Poinsett opened have all been good memories. The best thing Spoonbread has going for it? It's atmosphere, which is one of the best in Greenville. Classy, elegant, 25-foot coffered ceilings, tufted booth cushions, a sophisticated blend of classical and jazz, and Westin-level attention to table service. The food has always been good here. Not amazing, but predictably good. Sometimes, after all, that's what you want. I just finished a lunchtime chicken BLT which I would describe as equally good (& much healthier) than Tupelo's, with a hearts of palm salad (does anyone else even serve that in Greenville?). The price? $8.64 before tip. The service is good, friendly and--while it's not nearly the best in Greenville, you can understand why. Nobody comes here! In my judgment, this should be on most people's shortlist as a great downtown location for a business lunch, and on a long list of downtown restaurants worth visiting for dinner. Here's hoping this review creates at least a little more interest. In the meanwhile, I for one will be back.

Yelp
Had the breakfast buffet as part of my room rate. Nice selection for breakfast. Not too much that it is overwhelming, just enough variety. Omelette/egg station, oatmeal and grits with all the toppings, and classics like French toast and gooey cinnamon rolls. Service was great!

Yelp
We had breakfast at this highly Rated spot. We were shocked by how bad was the experience. Jessica, our server was surly, disinterested and left us to take care of ourselves. Order delivered incorrect, and generally a not my problem attitude. Not only did we receive poor service, but the poor guy next to us ordered oatmeal and was told he could just go and get it himself. Obviously there are management and motivational issues Review....Don't waste your time or money.

Yelp
Always a great spot for meetings for business or with friends. The food always exceeds expectations. My favorite is the Cobb salad with Salmon. The biscuits are to die for.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed overnight recently for a weekend getaway and are local to the Greenville area. The hotel stay was lovely. The rooms hold their vintage yet modern vibe. The bed was comfy, the views so pretty. We had never eaten at Spoonbread and thought it would be nice to simply go downstairs and grab a bite after a restful night. We have many fave breakfast spots in Greenville, so taking this risk seemed a good bet. Wow, we were let down! We had made a 9:30 reservation to be safe. Because of COVID restrictions, there were understandable changes that we were sensitive to. We barely entered the restaurant from the lobby and the hostess loudly told us to "just wait a minute". We patiently stayed back, waiting our turn. The reservation was useless and never asked about. We were seated a few minutes later (no sweat!) and the atmosphere was very cold. The hostess and server were not friendly, almost bordering on sarcastic. We ordered extremely basic food that was quite pricy. My husbands omelet (according to him) was not great. I got a croissant with my "continental breakfast " that was literally the size of a silver dollar (right?!) and hard as a rock. Coffee was only refilled once. We then waited over 15 minutes for our check of $40 for a VERY basic meal. I'm not sure how much the COVID scenario has changed their systems, but I still think a basic pleasant attitude could go a long way. For breakfast, I'd suggest choosing another great Greenville spot.

Yelp
Spoonbread is the breakfast, lunch, and Sunday brunch restaurant at the Westin-Poinsett. The menu for each meal service is difficult to describe correctly. Each meal service offers choices at the modest end of the price scale for those in a hurry or not wanting a big meal (lot of food). However, there are also choices that are somewhat creative and upscale for those wanting something for a more sophisticated palate. The Sunday brunches are plentiful and a wonderful variety... gourmet items often that surprise, like walking in and seeing an appetizer spread that includes seared tuna thinly sliced. Luckily, there are so many great temptations and selections that no one appeared to be "hovering" over the tuna! (*smile*) The hotel also does wonderful buffets for holidays... Thanksgiving and Christmas. Two seating periods ... the early midday buffet menu is not the same as the evening menu which offers dinner entrée selections, at least 4 choices (heavier meals). Midday the desserts are a variety of bite-sized morsels, and evening desserts are typical dessert servings. We have gone to the Westin Poinsett several times in recent years for our holiday dinner... it is conveniently close and a better offering than some other possible choices in that area or closer to home.

Yelp
I had lunch here with my family and had such a wonderful experience. It has a warm, southern atmosphere and beautiful decor. Sylvia was our server and she was the best! She was charming, polite, and very kind. Our hostess, Juliene, was also very pleasant and courteous. And of course, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We hope to return as soon as possible!

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel for a family event and my SIL arranged a brunch at Spoonbread the day we were all headed home. They did a wonderful job setting us all up and took great care of us. The selection was great, the display was lovely and the service was perfect. It's really a beautiful space . We were all so pleased with brunch. I'd highly recommend.

Yelp
Very elegant dining room + very good food. I came here one Sunday around noonish and it was a very nice experience. Definitely above expectations that I usually have for hotel restaurants. (I've never stayed at the Poinsett; I've just come to the restaurants.)

Yelp
The service and decor for the breakfast buffet was very good. The food quality was rather ordinary. Acceptable if you stay in the hotel but not a destination restaurant.
