Andy’s Pizza Expands to Foggy Bottom — And More Openings | Eater DC

"I checked out Spot of Tea’s standalone Dupont bubble‑tea cafe—complete with an upstairs seating area and sleek ceramic tiles—and found vibrant oat‑milk boba and fruit teas in flavors like hibiscus mango and blue jasmine, plus ube vanilla lattes and yuzu espresso tonics with plans to expand into a full coffee program and light bites like onigiri; the owners evoke after‑school boba hangouts from Shanghai." - Tierney Plumb

Google
Always on point, unique flavors and easiest access of all their locations. Pretty sure I've had the whole menu 😂I do miss the "Apple Chai" cider they had long ago. But they'll get six stars if they bring it back 😅

Els H.

Google
Had a really positive experience here and loved the simple yet classic milk tea. The interior is super cute and they have a large menu that is trendy and accommodates everyone’s taste buds. The service was fast and they were really nice and patient while I decided what to get.

Google
I really enjoy their bubble tea here. My one friend will come here first everytime she visits the area. I have have had the coffee milk tea and vanilla taro milk tea. I want to try a matcha drink as well.

Nghia H.

Google
Awesome boba shop with plenty of seating and a friendly staff! They have awesome specials, and their drinks are freshly made to order. Do note that their default drink settings are at 50% sweet with oatmilk, so that may catch some people off guard.

Kayo K.

Google
Very cute place. Drinks are unique and boba was very fresh. Tried Mango yuzu green tea and oolong tea with ube cream. They tasted great! Seating upstairs was very cozy and relaxed feel.

Google
The matcha strawberry drink with honey boba is pretty good! The dense strawberry purée at the bottom, when blended with the matcha layer up top, creates a pleasant color and taste combination. I enjoyed it in a reusable drinking glass sold by the cafe. If you go to the second floor, there is a nice hang out spot with cafe seating. Love the furniture and bookshelf. The corner views of P and 21st Streets is a bonus that lets you enjoy your beverage while watching the world go by.

Google
A nice selection of teas, and there's coffee too. I really enjoyed my iced Hibiscus Mango tea ($5.85). One table downstairs and more seating upstairs.

Google
I'd like to thank the Spot of Tea - Dupont Circle staff. I submitted a six-person order on October 21 around 1:00 PM. To my surprise, the entire process was a total delight! Their website was easy to navigate. It was a breeze to submit six different orders for a work team-building event. Each order was unique, but the staff at Spot of Tea rose to the occasion and handled all six orders seamlessly. Our drinks were ready on time for pick-up, and they were delicious. We were pleased with our refreshing, made-to-order beverages. One small thing to be aware of: If you're ordering light sweet, it truly means light sweet. But Spot of Tea provides simple syrup on-site in case you need adjustments. I am a satisfied customer -- thank you Spot of Tea for making our day !!!

Yelp
Support your local boba chains! The concept for Spot of Tea grew out of some college kids' brains and now it's one of the most popular boba shops in DC. While Maryland is becoming saturated with overseas brands - many of which are good - Spot of Tea has stood out with quality and releasing fun new menu items from time to time. The matcha craze has them coming up with at least seven different matcha drink combos so far. My go-to's have been the Vanilla Taro, Mango Sticky Rice Matcha, and the Classic Milk Tea. The Hibiscus Mango is also refreshing. I'm glad they explicitly mention the caffeine levels for the drinks. I had the Classic Milk Tea later in the day and I think it kept me up for a bit at night. The Mango Sticky Rice Matcha was first released in July and they later added it to their permanent menu. Certain ideas "stick" really well! Their Dupont location is popular among the younger crowd for hangouts and studying. The upstairs is spacious, until it fills up on weekend afternoons. Pretty quick service every time. Even better when you order online for pickup.

Yelp
I stopped by this place twice on my recent trip to DC. I was pleasantly surprised by the first drink I got here so I swung by again the next day but sadly didn't enjoy my second drink as much. WHAT I GOT: - Hojicha Latte (5/5): I really liked this one!! 50% sweetness was perfect and it was quite smooth (not grainy like hojicha can often be). I was also surprised to see their default milk option is oat milk, which is my preference so I'm glad I didn't have to pay extra for that - Mango Sticky Rice Matcha (2.5/5): saw that they give 20% off all matcha drinks before 11am and thought this flavor was so unique and interesting. Unfortunately I don't think this flavor works. Idk what they are adding for the "sticky rice" part. I would have assumed condensed milk but it did not taste right. This drink was oddly very sour and unfortunately I could not finish the drink. Overall, even though I didn't enjoy one of the drinks I got, I wouldn't mind coming back here for their hojicha if I'm in the area again. They also have a nice seating area upstairs that's great for work/studying.

Yelp
The drinks here are fun takes on common Asian drinks. I've visited a few times and tried the following drinks: vanilla taro/ube, matcha cloud, and matcha rose. What I've learned is that 50% sweetness is way too sweet. Honestly, they should rebrand the sweetness levels and call 50% "100%," call 25% "50%" and that would be more accurate. I have no idea what their current 100% tastes like, and I will never try it because their 50% was way too sweet already. That being said, the vanilla taro/ube is an amazing drink when done with 25% sweetness! I highly recommend it. The matcha cloud is good - a rich matcha flavor with a sweet cloud topping. The matcha rose is only ok. The floral flavoring is a bit strong for my personal taste, but if you like floral drinks, this would definitely appeal to you. The employees have always been very friendly, and the cafe itself is beautiful. There are two floors with most of the seating on the upper level. Unisex restrooms are available on both floors. There is a wheelchair-friendly ramp to the entrance or two stairs to get to the front door. I haven't checked if there's an elevator for wheelchair users to access the top floor. Overall, this place is nice if you're looking for a cafe to relax in at DC.

Yelp
Quick take: Beautiful Cafe There are two levels of seating. Also a few tables with a window view of the intersection. I ordered an iced cardamom date latte from the specialty section of the menu. It was delicious! Wish I was in town long enough to order another!

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem after my massage nearby. I needed somewhere quick to settle in and jump on a call and the blue building sticks out! They have a lot of creative beverage options, hibiscus, matcha, lychee, orange blossom etc - definitely not your average tea spot. Ordering is seamless enough - I decided on Blue Jasmine - Jasmine green tea & butterfly pea flower and added boba - great choice! It was different but in a good way, the boba made it interesting. I was able to grab a seat upstairs and lock in for a few. They have covered patio seating as well but the heat was unbearable today. Im not in DuPont much but I'm glad I stumbled across this cafe for when I'm in the area
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
My usual order is the hibiscus mango with lychee or the classic iced matcha. Both are tasty. This is my preferred location because of the ambiance, music selection, and ample seating options. Great place to catch up with friends or study. Orders don't take long even if there's a line.
google avatar

Shirley F.

Yelp
This was such a fun and cute place with great drinks! Their matcha is ceremonial so it's great quality. My friend got the vanilla taro and said there was great flavor. Great combination! The baristas and cashiers were also super friendly. Overall, we'd definitely come back here again :) P.S. the restrooms were also well-managed in terms of cleanliness
google avatar

Bethany H.

Yelp
Ordered the Lychee Matcha and sadly was let down despite it being on the popular drink menu. The boba was hard to chew and the taste of the lychee and matcha clashed. Loved the ambiance inside however and there's plenty of seating upstairs. The staff were all very kind. Will try to come back and try something different!
google avatar

Mia H.

Yelp
Such a cute spot!! The baristas are nice and there is lots of seating upstairs, it definitely seems like a great cafe environment to get some work done. Both the Blue Jasmine and (seasonal) London Fog milk teas I tried had a nice floral flavor, and the boba texture was good! I appreciate that their defaults are 50% sweetness and oat milk (no extra charge).
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
Well well! Sure you can get a cup of gossip here with some GW students happy to share some "tea" but the actual tea is the real highlight. Stopped by on a cold drizzly winter day and needed to warm up. The milk tea was the perfect pick me up with a blend of both. Lots of seating and quick service. A winner.
google avatar

Karyn M.

Yelp
Cozy little cafe in DuPont Circle. I tried a delicious strawberry matcha. There's seating upstairs as well. I wish I could have tried the onigiri. Friendly staff. No parking.
google avatar

Bethany T.

Yelp
The was the cutest little place to get a drink while I was wandering around Dupont. We tried the mango fruit tea and strawberry matcha. The mango tea was super refreshing and would definitely recommend. The strawberry matcha was pretty average for the area I would say. Great A/C with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's also metro accessible and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
I have heard mixed reviews for spot of tea but when I went, the drinks were great! There is a lot of throught in curating their seasonal drinks that carry that same level of thoughtfulness for their non-dairy options. Some beverage spots skip this crucial step, but I think it makes for great variability for a wide amount of customers! This is also an approachable spot for first-time drink tryers, because they have complex speciality drinks alongside the good and standard classics you want out of a boba shop. The menu is custom formatted in a way that also teaches you tea shop ordering etiquette so different levels of beverage-interested customers can engage and feel like they are in the know! I just love an aspect of learning from places that are constantly evolving their menu! The baristas were so kind to explain different aspects of the ingredients and worked well together that I had my drink ready just moments before my order was placed! That's a sign of good preparation and keen attention from the employees! In the upstairs area, we love to see plenty of seating and windows so it was such an enjoyable place to get a little sweet treat. The decor is on par with modern boba shops and I love a custom bathroom that makes it unique, well renovated and well thought out! My drink was refreshing, not too sweet, and made exactly to my preferences. My friend also thoroughly enjoyed her drink in how the fruity flavors blended together. Recently, I have stopped ordering boba topping in DC because a lot of shops underestimate how much boba needs to be cooked. After talking to my bobarista I felt comfortable ordering and enjoying each chewy bite of a fully cooked tapioca pearl once again!
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
I stopped here for a small pick-me-up and it was so good! The space is well-lit with two floors and more seating outside. I love that the defaults on all drinks are 50% sugar and oatmilk because these are my preferences at other drink places. The service was quick and everyone working was nice. I ordered a medium iced ube vanilla latte and it tasted great, not too sweet and the coffee wasn't bitter at all. I do wish the ube flavor was stronger, but I honestly don't know how much would need to be added to counter the coffee. The menu is unique and I would definitely recommend this place! Bonus, they have punch cards, which are so cute because most places nowadays do online rewards and I hate making new accounts/signing up for things all the time.
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
The matcha taro latte was just as good as I was hoping it would be. You can't go wrong with this or the taro milk tea. The drinks came out really fast too even though it was a weekend.
google avatar

Justis T.

Yelp
I always enjoy stopping by this bubble tea shop in Dupont Circle. The service is quick, the menu is easy to understand (with an easy to understand build-your-own option), and the prices are reasonable. While there is limited seating on the ground floor, there is additional seating both upstairs and outside. There is a simple rewards program for those that frequent the place--I.e., buy ten, get one free. I'll be back.
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
I stopped in for a hot matcha latte to warm me up and was pleasantly surprised! Love that the defaults for drinks are oat milk and half sweet. The matcha was delicious and had a beautiful foam on top. The space inside is pretty cute too, although I didn't check out the upstairs area. I'd love to try all their other drinks and an onigiri as well as those looked pretty popular.
google avatar

Catherine L.

Yelp
I saw this place multiple times on social media and was hoping it would meet the hype, but unfortunately it did not :( I got the strawberry matcha and the matcha yuzu-ade. The oatmilk in the strawberry matcha had a very watery consistency and taste, and paired with the thick strawberry puree at the bottom, totally masked the matcha. The strawberry puree didn't mix well with the rest of the drink, so each sip was either extremely sweet strawberry or bitter watery matcha depending on the depth of the straw. The matcha yuzu-ade was good but didn't have a strong matcha taste either. The employees were very friendly and helpful even while swamped with customers. Seating wise - there's quite a bit of seating upstairs and lots of people studying. I'd be interested in coming back to try other drinks on their menu, just not the matcha ones.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my new favorite cafes in the DMV. The second I heard they had black sesame, I ran to try it. The staff was all very sweet and was incredibly quick with taking my order, making it, and getting it to me. The ambiance feels very fresh and new and has shockingly more seating than you'd think. Plus, the seating is comfy! I have yet to try their other locations but I'd love to see how the set up compares. Now, onto the drink. The ceremonial grade matcha is by far some of the best I've found in the city and the black sesame was such a nice touch. I would say that next time I would ask for less black sesame as it sometimes overpowered the matcha, but still a great drink. Not pictured but I tried my friend's Ube Vanilla Latte and it was also scrumptious, not only were the flavors tasty but the espresso itself was very smooth. Overall, I think I found my new go-to spot.
google avatar

Claire C.

Yelp
i love spot of tea! their blue jasmine drink is one of my favorite boba orders in dc, and im dying to try their matcha mango sticky rice. the strawberry matcha was a little too strawberry for me but my friends loved it. theres a nice second floor study area with wifi and outlets and the staff is the best. glad theyre expanding!
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Cute shop that's painted blue all along the outside and kinda artsy cute details inside. Blue jasmine - 4/5 soft, flavorful pearls and great tea flavor! Hk coffee milk tea - 2/5 very strong bitter coffee taste so not my type
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
Got the classic milk tea, iced with boba. It's clearly a high quality black tea. I'm not a boba connoisseur, but it was a good amount of chewy and sweet for me. Make sure to stir well if you get your drink sweetened or if it has a flavor. I would get this all the time if boba was available earlier than 11am, unfortunately I'm quite caffeine sensitive but I'll come back to try lower caffeine drinks. I appreciate that they estimate the caffeine level (low, moderate, high) for most of their drinks on their online menu. Really great space for hanging out. Bathrooms and lots of clean, comfortable seating. Varied bookshelf where most people can probably find something of interest.
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
London Fog is the way to go! Other drinks felt a little too sweet but that was on us because you can adjust every part of the drink down to the percent. Baristas were kind and helpful. Inside was cute, trendy and packed out.
google avatar

Maya C.

Yelp
This place was so cute! It was definitely a bit crowded, but the employees were very nice and welcoming despite it being loud and busy. They have so many options and they all sound delicious, I wanted to try them all! I ordered the Mango Hibiscus with boba, in a medium. Let me say, so so smooth and good! It was a hot day so this was refreshing! The boba was the perfect texture, and my order was done surprisingly quick. Price for the quality of boba and flavor is really good, and my only notes is to get the large! 100% recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Kylie D.

Yelp
A great chic boba place with pretty drinks! Service was quick and drinks were delicious.
google avatar

Munsa M.

Yelp
Came here not once but twice while in DC bc I was determined to come back!!! I love the boba here the flavors are so good!!! My favorite is the vanilla taro and the matcha latte!! The vanilla taro is so good and creamy and the flavors go so well together!! The matcha is also really good too!! I also tried the blue Jasmine and it's really pretty and yummy but not as good as the first two!! I got everything with minimal sweetness and it was perfect!! Ai also love that oat milk is their default Will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Gwen B.

Yelp
The Spot of tea is located in the food court with Bakeshop in Georgetown so be sure to lookout for the sign out front. Their teas were delicious and fresh with my favorite being the strawberry matcha option. Boba was perfectly soft and service was on point. Highly recommend and will definitely be back again soon!
google avatar

Sydney G.

Yelp
Spot of Tea remains my favorite boba shop in DC. I especially love this location because there's so many different options. My go-to is always the classic milk tea, but I also enjoy the iced black sesame, Thai blossom, coffee milk tea, and the iced cardamom date latte, but I've literally never had a drink I didn't enjoy from Spot of Tea. Their coffee is also delicious. I'm personally not a fan of matcha, but they have a ton of matcha options for those that do. Plus, the staff is always friendly and efficient!
google avatar

Suzie Z.

Yelp
Mad love the ambience and vibe here. You can almost smell the boba once you step inside. Third time back and I tried the blue jasmine (served hot / cold) this time round.
google avatar

Jada G.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and convenience to get to! I got the strawberry matcha and it was everything I was hoping it'd be. The drink was prepared super quickly although there was only one person in front of me. The seating area upstairs is cozy and has a decent number of seating options, although I can tell it gets crowded at peak times. Definitely keeping this on my go-to list of tea places in the city.
google avatar

Swetha S.

Yelp
this place makes the best matcha in DC hands down and the workers are always really sweet. i love that oat milk is a default option here and that the matcha always passes the color test. they have fun seasonal offerings like mango sticky rice matcha for July & all of their matcha options are pretty delicious. my favorite so far has been the blueberry matcha! this location also has outdoor seating and is located a short walk from the dupont metro station.
google avatar

Eugenia Y.

Yelp
Okay. I just happened to be staying in the hotel nearby for a work retreat, and happened to find this place, and let me tell you--I visited all of the days I was there for the retreat. I loved the HK Coffee Milk Tea, the Blue Jasmine, and The Thai tea. Seriously, all of the drinks were well made, the staff were very friendly, and the cafe was so cute! I didn't get to spend that much time inside the cafe, but I loved the space. It felt clean and cute, and I loved that there was seating upstairs. Anyway, I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you're nearby!
google avatar

Ariana C.

Yelp
My favorite my favorite my favorite!!!! Spot of tea definitely has my favorite matcha in all of dc, and my location of choice is definitely the DuPont location. It is the perfect vibrant place to work from home or just chill, and the wait staff is always incredibly kind to me. I got the iced vanilla matcha, my go-to, and it never disappoints. Long live spot of tea!!
google avatar

Shelby B.

Yelp
Definitely worth the hype. You really cant go wrong with anything on the menu! They offer milk tea drinks, matcha and coffee which can all be customized with boba and unique flavors like ube and black sesame. It's also just a nice chill spot to hang out and catch up with friends or even to get some work done! I love that this place stays open pretty late which is rare for cafes in the area. The workers here are very friendly and the drinks come out consistently great every time.
google avatar

Donyiel C.

Yelp
Was first introduced to Spot of Tea through a Yelp Elite check-in perk. I loved their tea and boba ever since. This location is perfect. Decent parking. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. Very nice and helpful employees. I love the hibiscus mango tea with jelly and boba! I'm craving one right now.
google avatar

Tuhin C.

Yelp
Pretty high quality boba and they have unique drinks here. I had the Blue Jasmine tea here and it was great. There were also a ton of seats upstairs and it's a great place to do work!
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
While the milk tea experience is great (and I appreciate that their default milk option is oat), the drinks are on the pricier side, almost at $8 per drink. Their Blue Jasmine is both beautiful and delicious though. They do have a nice workspace upstairs where one can use the free Wifi to do work.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
This spot opens really early for a boba spot, which saved me because I just needed a spot to crash for a couple hours. It's also super nice inside, with a ton of seating upstairs: tables, bean bags, lounge chairs, really cozy ambiance! I just got a normal black milk tea as their pearls weren't ready for the day yet (I don't blame them, I was in the door 5 minutes after they opened). The milk tea was great; strong tea flavor, with a nice balance of milk. The sweetness was also ideal, but the overall drink felt slightly diluted by the amount of ice in it. I also can't fully judge them because I haven't had a chance to try out their pearls! Will definitely be back to try more of their boba drinks!
google avatar

Allie H.

Yelp
I love matcha especially when it has some kind of fun fruity flavor. This strawberry matcha was perfect on a warm summer day. It tastes like sunshine in a cup! Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend for all of my tea people!
google avatar

Roz D.

Yelp
What a cute tea spot! They were perfect after our meal and really easy to find. The lobby was clean and had plenty of seating options upstairs and downstairs. Everyone was super friendly and helpful in making a decisions. I loved the menu and ordering process as it encouraged customizations. My niece really enjoyed the hibiscus tea and I loved the suggestion of the hot vanilla taro- it was perfect for the cool afternoon walk.
google avatar

Katherine R.

Yelp
I had the HK Coffee Milk Tea and my friend had the Blue Jasmine! We both loved our drinks. I'm a big fan of Vietnamese Coffee and Milk tea type drinks at specialty cafés, and the Coffee Milk Tea did not disappoint! The Jasmine drink also simply looks gorgeous. The Café itself (the upper floor) was very cozy, well furnished, and perfect for resting + getting work done. Service was quick, low wait time. I want to go again when I'm near Dupont!
google avatar

Lei D.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times now. Highly recommend, as the drinks are delicious and the seating areas are clean and everything! I had the Green Tea Classic Milk Tea, Thai Blossom Tea, and Strawberry Matcha, and all of them turned out fine, as they are a great mix of each flavor (milk and tea for milk teas and strawberry and matcha taste for the strawberry matcha, plus they look nice in pictures). The staff here are super nice and service is fast! 10/10 recommend!
google avatar

Sian S.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Dupont! Been passing this spot all summer but finally decided to pop in with a friend to study. I got the mango yuzu black tea, which was yum but not phenomenal. My favorite thing about this spot was the study environment! Upstairs seating area is great, not too crowded, and plenty of outlets. Wifi only lasts 2 hours (it cuts you off) but as a café that needs customer turnover I understand. Would definitely recommend to any students/remote workers in the area!
google avatar

Maya M.

Yelp
Truly a fan. Baristas were super personable and helpful! I got the strawberry matcha and it was super good! I wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't like a strawberry syrup-it was more of a pureé- which tasted very yummy!! Id get that again! The matcha is great and the boba pearls are delish- definitely recommend! And I love the punch card loyalty system they have!! The place is clean and inviting- I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
This did not hit the spot for me, unfortunately. Ordered a strawberry matcha latte, which came out unusually thick and bitter. The syrup was also oddly tart, so everything together was a bit unpleasant.
google avatar

Madison C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to stop in for a little treat. As someone who doesn't love sweet stuff, I like that you can adjust the sweetness level. Good variety of espresso and tea options and nice airy space upstairs to hang out in.
google avatar

Princess C.

Yelp
Probably my favorite tea spot in DC. I come here often and have tried everything on the menu. I would recommend the taro milk tea which is my favorite. For a fruity drink I love the strawberry matcha rose or mango yuzu tea for the more sour loving folks. The strawberry matcha would be my least favorite. They are super fast and usually packed on the weekends so I would recommend stopping in during the week. The location is super cute and right off the metro.
google avatar

Eshani K.

Yelp
This place is amazing and deserves all the hype. First off, it is so stinking cute with great places to sit upstairs and lots of books to read as well, some of which are set in Washington DC. I ordered the coffee milk tea with half lychee jelly and half brown sugar boba. I was not disappointed because my drink was perfectly not too sweet and the boba and jelly were very fresh. The barista also made my drink very quickly! Also inside, the wall colors are epic and I love the blue tones.

Yelp
It was the end of the evening and my partner and I enjoyed our bobas from here -- vanilla taro and Thai blossom. We also decided to support the business and buy some pastries too. DRINKS REVIEW VANILLA TARO -we did 25% sweetness, less ice -we thought it needed more syrup so 50% is probably a better call -loved the real taro used in the drink; vanilla compliments taro nicely THAI BLOSSOM -we did 25% sweetness, less ice -we thought it was perfectly sweetened, but a little more simple syrup makes it taste even more like a dessert -loved the floral notes from the Jasmine tea; it's a nice twist on Thai Tea It's nice that they offer chilled milks and sweeteners to add if you want to customize your drink to your liking after you've received it. PASTRIES REVIEW We also got a flourless brownie and a cheddar and chive scone. FLOURLESS BROWNIE -super rich, Chocolatey -can't tell it's gluten free! CHEDDAR SCONE -so very flavorful, filling -if you have a long day and need something savory to keep you going, this is a nice treat to have The guy at the front was so kind to give me a discount on the pastries since it was the end of the evening. He also passed along 3 free pastries too so that they didn't go to waste. My heart was touched. I let him know about TooGoodToGo so hopefully we'll be seeing their pastries in there in the near future. Ambiance is very cozy and chill. It's a nice place to relax and do work, especially with the kitchen table feel downstairs and the living room feel upstairs with the comfy chairs and bookshelf. I highly recommend Spot of Tea. Best boba spot in Dupont!!
