For Garland Texas this is a 5/5… The trails are simple and nice though rather short, with a very family-friendly vibe. There are also wide-open fields, and the overall atmosphere is like the kind of place where you can wave to people and they wave back. While there’s still some trash, it’s much more minimal compared to other parks I’ve visited. I only explored the right side of the park today, but I plan to return and check out the left side to get a fuller experience. Based on my first visit, it’s clear that whoever maintains this park has done a thoughtful job. I’ll update my review once I’ve had the chance to explore more, but for now, I’d recommend this park.

I've walked this nature trail for years and it's lovely every time. It's very well-kept by the city: it's clean, well-maintained, and beautiful. Public restrooms are available at the start of the trail as well. Just make sure you drive up to the entrance slowly, it's very easy to miss!

Google
This is Preserve has woodsy vibe even tho it's in the middle of Garland. Benches provided for resting and viewing of the scenery in a few areas. There's a flowing creek. I went in the evening hours about 4p and I felt safe. Apartment homes are nearby. They have provided restrooms 🚻 at the beginning of the trail near the parking lot. I did not like seeing all the trash in the wooded area. There is no entry fee.

Such a lovely little thicket of forest, right in the middle of the hustle & bustle of the DFW... quiet trails, great diversity of plant communities, & well maintained... the trails are easy enough for beginners to trek through & interesting enough for experienced hikers to enjoy. Wonderful place to visit.

I wish they would make the paved trail loop. Out and back is not as much fun. The paved trail is a great for walking and running, there are also off road trails.

It is a nice park pretty short trail but you really feel like you’ve left the city in this trail.

Pretty scenery, though not a huge area on the North side. The South side is a bit longer of a trail. Trail is slightly overgrown in some spots, and there are felled trees in many places throughout. The creek is pretty to look out, but be careful as there is a 20 foot sheer drop in some spots. Other than that, not much elevation change, it was quite flat. Tree cover provided lots of shade. Highway noise is quite loud and distracting, since it's adjacent to PGBT. As some others have noted, there is an abundance of litter (I even found an entire shopping cart in the creek). If I were to compare it to, say, Barton Creek in Austin near Twin Falls or near the municipal pool, I would say this area doesn't hold a candle. Though it may be one of the best walking trails in the DFW metro area, all things considered.

Definitely a beautiful and calm scenery, not crowded at all, felt comfortable and entertained with nature 😀

Yelp
This trail is very short and really wasn't worth my 30 minute drive. I brought my kids and dog. They had a nice time but were finished in about 30 minutes. The worst part was that I saw in two different places condom wrappers and used condoms. Also tons of trash

Yelp
This is a very strange park and unfortunately the closest one to my house. There is a nice size playground with a separate area for toddlers. A very large wide open space next to it for running around or playing games of sorts. Behind the tall trees and bushes is an up and down pit. There is not any public restrooms unless you want to walk a bit a ways to winters park next door. Well on the day I went, I had to contact the city of Garland police department (not the same as 911). Their were some male teenagers in motorbikes riding around the whole area with no regard of the small children in the area. A few moms tried yelling at them but the bikes were too loud they probably couldn't hear anyway. I left because I just didn't care to be there anymore. Not sure if the cops showed up or not but I didn't want any part of it.

Yelp
I love this trail so much. It is a smaller tail but it's so nice and clean! They have expanded the trail to more western Plano, but I haven't ran it yet. Be careful on days that it rains as areas tend to flood.

Yelp
The walking trail was easy to follow and there were a few areas you could get down next to the creek. The area we made it down had stairs built into the mud on the opposing side of the creek and a rope swing. (I wouldn't recommend using it to jump into the water seeing as it isn't very deep!) The best part was the shade provided by the trees which made the 100 degree weather more bearable. It wasn't the cleanest or most beautiful place in the world but it was good enough to go back.

Yelp
A girlfriend & I decided to explore this place. It has a large parking lot, a few different trails (but no maps of them, or if they did I completely missed them). We enjoyed our walk & will definitely be coming back. It's paved so it's good for kids & their bikes (my kids prefer paved paths for biking). They do have restrooms although they were locked when we went.

Yelp
Had a great time taking a walk with my family. I believe there is more than one trail, we took the Northern Trail. Great for families of all ages, I took my 1.5 and 2.5 year old, they were able to walk most of it with no help. Just the right length to the end and back, by the last 20 mins their feet were dragging lol. We saw Cardinals, Butterflies, tiny garden snakes, squirrels, and turtles in the creek. There were multiple places to stop and look at the creek, we stopped at almost every one. It was great. Don't have to worry about my kids trying to get in the water! Lol. Loved the giant fallen trees along the trail for you to climb on. The location works great for me because I live in Garland. There are so many awesome parks here, but I like trails sometimes too! Loved it this will be a family favorite for years to come

Yelp
It's a nice little trail supposedly there's snakes in there now but I've never encountered one

Yelp
It's a nice area but if you're looking to hike, this isn't the place. All of the paths are paved and landscaped. The few unpaved paths through the trees are very brief. We walked the whole area and all of the extra trails we could find in about 30 minutes.

Yelp
Quaint nature reserve which is sadly being surrounded by housing developments. The northern part of the preserve has unpaved trails which mostly follow the creek. Recommend wearing pants for the northern part. The southern part is paved and slightly nicer, but there are fewer creek views. Fairly small reseve overall, took us 45 minutes to an hour to walk the whole thing. Cool place to visit if you're nearby, but don't go out of your way.

Yelp
The trails are mostly paved. I prefer unpaved trails. This is not for real hiking. The small unpaved trails are just that: small, a few feet in length.

Yelp
Found this place on a Top 10 places to hike list that had previously turned out some great trail hiking locations. Spring Creek is easy to find but the trails themselves are not marked, hard to find and very lack luster. The large area marked "Spring Creek Preserve" ended up being a dangerous, overgrown area rather than anything that should be on a Top 10 list. The paved trail was very nice and would be a good place to ride a bike or jog but the dirt trails were a joke.

Yelp
a decent trail, not very long though, but still it is much better than sitting at home and watching all of that garbage on TV, if you are in the area then try it out, but if you are not it is probably not worth the drive, still i enjoyed it overall

Yelp
There are better trails for hiking in the Dallas area than this place. The paved areas are nice and good for runners and walkers but my friend and I prefer unpaved hiking trails. We read an article that named this one of the top ten areas to hike in the Dallas area so we decided to check it out. Per the article, we parked in the lot on the east side of Holford Road and took the paved path until it ended at Garland Road. From there you cross the street and there is a sign marking the trailhead for the unpaved path. "Cool!" we thought, adventure awaits! That is until we got a few steps in and realized the trail was severely overgrown. As bushes and thorny vines slapped us in the shins, face, everywhere, we continued on but the trail was very hard to follow and there were no signs or maps. We came to a point where the trail was so overgrown that we could not continue because it was impossible to find where the trail continued. We turned back and headed back to the parking lot where we talked to a runner who said the area used to be good for trail hiking until it became overgrown due to lack of maintenance. He suggested starting in the parking lot on the west side of Holford Road where there are a few more unpaved trails. We took his advice and found the trails to be easy to follow but short with no elevation changes. The total unpaved trail was about a mile hike. The trail runs alongside a creek that is a total joke. The creek had lots of trash in it and just wasn't pleasant to look at. Overall, this place is a waste of time if you want to go trail hiking. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the paved trail seemed to be a decent place to take a walk or run. I won't be returning though.
