"Honestly who doesn’t love pizza? Bufad specializes in wood-fired pizzas. They’ve also got a great selection of southern Italian small plates. If you’re looking for great Italian food, Bufad is the place for you. It may even make you want to book your next trip to Italy ASAP." - True Hand Society

Pizza Gutt Review - Poplar - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Pizza Gutt’s website says it’s Instagram’s first pizza shop, and as obnoxious as that sounds, it’s actually not what you’d expect. Or at least, it wasn’t what we expected, which was an Instagram feed full of gluten-free, cauliflower-based “pizzas” posed next to planted palms. In reality, Pizza Gutt is just a guy in the back of Win Win coffee shop, making some pretty incredible Detroit-style pizzas until they sell out (which they do, every night). The Instagram component is just how he runs the reservation system. And, while they do save 24 crispy, square-shaped pizzas per night for walk-ins, your best bet is to put your name down for a reserved pie when their system opens every Monday." - Sydney McElwee

Google
Great local pizza, cheesesteak, sandwich and burger spot. We were visiting from out of town and enjoyed the selection, everything was great. Price is fair, however they do charge a credit card service fee (or cash gets a discount)

I’ve catered from Spring Garden pizza for my company events four times now, and every experience has been excellent. Communication with Luis is always smooth—he’s incredibly helpful, responsive, and makes the ordering process seamless. The delivery driver is consistently on time, which is so important for events, and the food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. Everyone at the office looks forward to it! Highly recommend for both quality and reliability.

Google
The pizza was baked just right and all enjoyed. We decided to try out this restaurant because of its location next to PhilaMOCA and went in blind and found a great place to stop before our show in that area. A hidden gem that will hopefully grow in popularity.

Google
Great pizza! I wanted something quick to eat before a show at PhilaMoca and stopped in for a slice and was shocked at how big the slice was! Tasty crust and sauce. Will definitely be back

Google
This was my 1st experience at Spring Garden Pizza, and as a pizza efficianodo , I was pleasantly surprised that it is one of the top 5 pizza places I've ever eaten at(out of hundreds). They also make their own strawberry lemonade, which is amazing! Can't wait to get back soon!

Google
The atmosphere is like you stepped into the 70s its so nice and welcoming. The food was AMAZING. Homemade pizza was amazing. Homemade chips were the best I've ever had. We got the Italian sub and WOW *chefs kiss*. Just amazing all around. I love the old school vibes.

Google
A hidden gem I just stumbled upon. As others have said, family owned since '89, and it shows. The owners truly care, create a welcoming environment, and the food is awesome. chicken ceasar salad today, pizza after the next gym day when I've actually earned it... Thanks guys!

Google
I've now been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Spring Garden Pizza is like stepping back in time. The owner truly cares about his restaurant, his employees, and his customers. He's one of the nicest men I've ever met in my life. This is a family owned restaurant that takes care of its customers. Everything is extremely reasonably priced. They aren't gouging their customers. Maybe unexpectedly but the breakfast is the real star here for me. You might ask yourself why would I get breakfast at a pizza place? And the only answer I have for that is, you just have to try it. They aren't trying to do too much. I'm a firm believer that breakfast should err on the side of simplicity and Spring Garden is of the same mindset. It may not be as Instagramable as some of the "fancier" breakfast places in the area or throughout the city, but you'll be too busy eating it to care about taking a picture. I would put my money on Spring Garden's breakfast over nearly any other in the city. Let your camera eat second at Spring Garden.

Yelp
I was always intrigued by this restaurant, so I finally decided to order a pizza. It's been the best pizza I've had in the spring garden/fairmount area! It has everything that I'm looking for for a take out pizza. It's large, filled with toppings, the cheese pulls apart, the crust is sturdy. They don't go light on the meat toppings for their heavy weight pizza. And each slice is heavy. AND the pizza is the cheapest that I've found for it's quality. I think a large cost a total of $22 post tax and delivery. I'll have to come back and try out other items on the menu. Spring Garden Pizza is my now go to place for pizza delivery

Yelp
My go to for super reasonably priced, good food. I mean $10 for a large cheese pizza?! Super hard to come by in 2023. I typically get the chipotle bbq wings and the sauce is on point. Also love the mozzarella fries. Taking off one star solely because delivery is a bit slow, but the food is always hot and fresh.

Yelp
Been coming here since a kid and I used to love it, but since the old cook left and the prices increased the good has been terrible! And the new make server is the worst.
google avatar

Reid F.

Yelp
This place is wonderful. The food is great, the music is awesome, and Louie is a class act!

Gwendolyn P.

Yelp
Was treated to this pizza for a Yelp elite event we attended at the rail park and it really hit the spot! We tried both the veggie pizza as well as the pepperoni and both were delicious. I thought the cheese, sauce and dough combination all worked!

Yelp
First day under new ownership and you would never know it. Food was great, came out fast, and staff was super friendly and attentive. I'll be back.

Dan A.

Yelp
Great small place with great variety of foods from breakfast to pizza and sandwiches also pastas.

Lydia N.

Yelp
Great vodka pizza!! The sauce to cheese ratio is just right and the crust is seasoned so there's no need to throw it away (like I do most of the time). Their stromboli is also a favorite of mine. Definitely check it out if you live in the area.
google avatar

Sean E.

Yelp
solid no nonsense pizza. the crust was rather brittle. you won't write home taking your mates about it, but for locals it's a legit option! very large pizzas that fulfill the pizza crave time and time again. can't go wrong with the veggie blend topic mix. great flavors and colorful array.

Dave B.

Yelp
Great place to grab a bite. Steak hoagies are top notch and the pizza is outstanding as well.
google avatar

Kory D.

Yelp
Great little pizza spot. I loved the variety of pizza options, quality of pizza toppings, chew of the pizza crust, and value of the size/cost. Other options like wings and Spanish fries were also a major hit. Definitely a hidden little gem. The owner is absolutely amazing and fun to chat with as we waited for the last few items to be put together.

Yelp
Although I have lived in the area most of my life, I never have ordered from here. I got a pizza it is one of the best that I have tasted around here. Can't wait to try other items.

Steve J.

Yelp
Very good pizza, service and prices. Just wish they were open later. Very homey environment as well.

Yelp
I had to make a return trip for their namesake. Pizza! The pizza came out in 15 minutes and it was off to the races. The crust is thin and tasty. The sauce is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Thin slices of mozzarella blanket the pizza so no one bite is without cheese. The large pizza was more than enough for two people. We were adequately stuffed after the meal. $15.95 is a steal for pizza of this quality. I was honestly beginning to lose faith in Philly pizza until I came here. This beats all that overhyped hipster trash in Fishtown. Corner store bodega pizza reigns supreme. Unbeatable price and you don't have to wait outside for an ungodly amount to time waiting for the joint to open. This is your average joe, blue collar pizza. This is not for the pizza snob, kombucha drinking crowd.
google avatar

Dot T.

Yelp
The quality of food for the price is fantastic. Pizza is great, salads are massive and come with delicious breadsticks. The meatball sandwich and Italian hoagie are two favorites as well. Also all day breakfast.., just order it's delicious and the owners are super nice

Yelp
First time ordering from Spring Garden Pizza. I ordered a Large Pie and I'm so happy I did from Spring Garden Pizza. It's exactly what I was looking for, reminds me of boardwalk pizza. The crust could be a little more crispy but the taste is there for me so I'll just know for next time to ask for an extra 5 minutes in the oven. Overall a very good pie at a good price of $12, I will be coming here again

Yelp
The lady was very nice and kind. The place is very clean. We are currently waiting for our food but what drew us in here was the good reviews on the food and pizza. The price point is not bad as well. You can tell they are here to cater to a local crowd and not the over crowded and over priced tourist audience.

Yelp
I was passing thru town on tour for a show at Union Transfer which is up the street. Found this place on Yelp and decided I needed to get me some Scrapple since I was in Philly. If you are unfamiliar I suggest you Google it. Now this spot is clearly neighborhood. I was in around 9 in the morning and already several regulars were there, having a fairly passionate discussion over what I think was basketball, and walked in over the hour that I sat and had my breakfast. Very old school place with cheap but tasty food an older Greek woman who made a suggestion from the scrapple sandwich to the platter because I needed to quote "eat enough" as I was a big boy lol. $7.50 I got three large slices of white Greek toast three over easy eggs a heap of grits and a nice slice of what I'm guessing homemade scrapple. Food was great at a bottomless coffee to that and you really can't go wrong for what it is. Not the greatest area but nonetheless if you're in the area and want to get something traditional I suggested come by.

Yelp
This place is a GEM! Huge slices of amazing delicious pizza for only two bucks! Also the man (who I assume is the owner) was super cool to talk with. We actually ended up hanging out, talking with him about politics and life etc. etc. for almost an hour after we had finished our pizza. There's not much else I can say about this place other than it's banging pizza. There's plenty of seating, owner is friendly, and you can't beat paying only 2$ to get a full tummy
google avatar

Glenda B.

Yelp
I was visiting from Atlanta and craved a good breakfast. When I lived here this was my quick and cheap go to spot for a good hearty breakfast. I wanted some scrapple badly and I knew I would get a decent meal here. We ordered Scrapple breakfast platters and were not disappointed. The plate was huge. The piece of scrapple was deep fried to perfection and a large portion. Their home fries are so good. I think they put a splash of butter on the grill when they make them but boy are they good. To be honest I've never had anything other than the breakfast so I couldn't speak on the rest of the menu but I do know they have excellent breakfast. Mom and Pop are also super friendly and make you feel at home. Stop by to get the experience.

Yelp
Just moved to the area and found this restaurant close to my apartment. The amount of food we received was outstanding for the price! The women behind the counter was friendly and pleasant and made me want to go back just to see her! I got bread with my meal and the marinara sauce was outstanding. If it is the same sauce as they put on the pizza I would definitely suggest!

Connor T.

Yelp
All I have to say about Spring Garden is 2 things that warrant 5 stars: The food and the people. I'm a huge fan of Strombolis, and these guys know how to cook a great one. They also all kinds of other stuff like breakfast sandwiches, which they also do really well on. The other thing is that the people who run the place are awesome, always being patience and kind even when you are having trouble on your order. It's not the biggest place to eat in Philly, but I believe it's one of the best. You will hardly ever be disappointed by this place. Give it a try!
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
The cheesesteaks are really tasty. I custom ordered mine with pizza sauce, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. The nice elderly woman behind the counter is very hospitable and everything was made just the way I like. I'll have to come back to try the pizza and fries. It's conveniently located right next to PhilaMOCA theater.

Ilyssa R.

Yelp
Food wasn't good. The pizza crust was quite thick and it was too doughy. The pasta was pretty gross and tasted like they just threw tomato sauce on top of some cold pasta. In my opinion, the best pizza and food I've had in the area is from Thin and Crispy.
google avatar

Alyson R.

Yelp
Best mom and pop place in Spring Garden/ Spring Arts area! Pizza is good there, closest in my opinion I've come to New York style pizza in philly. The best part is the breakfast cheap, yummy, & more than necessary portions. $13 got 2 people french toast with bacon, scrapple with 2 eggs, seasoned hash browns, and toast, plus 2 unlimited coffees

Yelp
Spring Garden Pizza & Restaurant you are really awesome, I had an incredible experience here today. Great menu, Great atmosphere, Great service, and Great friends! Every thing that I have tried was really good and I would revisit to have it again! Oh yes, and the crew is super friendly. Very recommended.

Yelp
Great food, low prices and generous portions. Each time i've had it the food was consistently good. I recommend the steak stromboli.

Yelp
We are in town for 3 days of sightseeing. We were staying a block from Spring Garden and went there the first night we got in, after a long day of driving. We ordered the house pizza.. and it was delicious. Thin crust, fresh toppings. Since it was so good, we went back the next day for breakfast. I ordered the Western Omelet and My companion had the eggs/ bacon breakfast with fried potatoes. Best potatoes we've ever had. Not your usual hash browns, much better. Since we liked it so much we came back our last night in town and I had the steak sandwich and my companion the chicken club. I had a Philly Steak the day before at a famous Philly place in Philly, but the one here at Spring Garden was much better. Every time we ate here the local police were also eating here . They know where to go. Thanks Rick and Carmelo for the friendly service. Great breakfast, pizza and sandwich place.

Yelp
Wow, what a hidden gem. Nestled on the corner of 11th and Spring Garden, where everything surrounding it is more or less in development phase, you'd probably never expect to walk inside and find a warmly lit, cozy diner/restaurant run by a friendly old Portugese couple and its collection of regulars. This is the only place in Philly I know of where you can get a giant, full breakfast meal and endless coffee and a comfortable atmosphere for less than $7. Yes, that is correct, less than $7. Because unlike many many brunch spots, a sausage, 3 eggs, home fries, and toast meal is actually priced fairly. Tons of cheap breakfast combos (from eggs to French toast), omelettes, sandwiches, and oh yeah, their pizza. The margherita is thin, crispy, saucy, and mouthwatering. SO well cooked. I had come here over a year ago and recently revisited it, and I can't believe I had forgotten how incredible it is. After having had a few giant, cozy, sub $10 brunches here since, I have a hard time going anywhere else. So I guess that's my only criticism - this place has ruined everything else for me!

Bill F.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, service, and expansive menu. Spectacular establishment, highly recommend.

Corinne D.

Yelp
Fast, hot delivery and the pizza is awesome. So many places are now using that nasty sweet-ish pizza sauce... some people might like it but it's not my jam lol. Spring Garden's crust, sauce and cheese are all savory and great Will definitely be ordering again.

Ebonie R.

Yelp
I went here for lunch with my husband , set down was greeted order two turkey burger platters . Our plan was to eat in , but it was getting close to us going back to work so i asked can they box it . When i got to work and seen how they just threw my burger in the box , i asked for ketchup on my burger they put it on the side . I called and the owner was very nasty with me saying " the cook said what he said and that it " i reply and said well im the customer and im telling what happen . They never once apologized or anything . I will never come back to this restaurant , the owner was also very nasty!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is an incredibly reliable neighborhood joint. I have stopped here most often for breakfast. You'll be hard-pressed to find a cheaper breakfast with this quality in the area. I really like how they make their home fries. Their pancakes were also really good. I've ordered their pizza a few times and really liked it. Their chicken-bacon-ranch is probably one of the best specialty pizzas in the area. I'd order from them more but their hours kill me! I've had their corned beef sandwich which was decent, their chicken cordon bleu hot sandwich which was pretty good, and their buffalo chicken cheesesteak....which was perfect. There was just something about their buffalo chicken cheesesteak that made it stand out; I'm not even sure what it was. This place is owned by an older couple and they are very friendly. I've never had a negative experience here. Check it out!
google avatar

Ren B.

Yelp
This is my first time ordering breakfast for delivery. My oders was incomplete, nasty, along with a breakfast platter missing. I will not be ordering again.

Liam K.

Yelp
The best Pizza in Philly. It's not that it's gourmet or that it's got interesting toppings. It's just good regular pizza. Sometimes you don't want wood fired -charboild-flatbreaded-whatever. Sometimes you want so friggin pizza. They also have decent breakfast/diner food. And they are the sweetest people on earth there. Real kind to everyone who comes in. Only complaint is they close pretty early.
google avatar

Crystal M.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and by belly always takes a trip to yum town! The Portuguese family is always friendly and make sure you have a great dining experience. I absolutely love their Chicken Cesar Salad and freshly made garlic bread. I used to do my college work-study down the street and just loved eating lunch here or grabbing a meal before class. When I am craving Pizza and fries, they never fail to deliver. All around everything you order is a great portion and sometimes enough where you'll have left overs. This place is also affordable so when you want good food in the city.....Spring Garden is the place to go. The only downer is when they take their vacation, usually in the summer as I've seen over the years. It's always an "aww man" moment when you walk up to the door and they have their shop closed. Yet, it's totally understandable and a well-deserved break for them :)

Yelp
I came here for lunch with my boyfriend on Wednesday, May 16, he ordered breakfast items French toast cheese eggs and also turkey sausage I ordered the spaghetti with Italian sausage which was also served with a side salad. My salad featured cucumbers tomatoes Green peppers and obviously lettuce. I was on my lunch break and only had one hour to enjoy my food we arrived at the restaurant at 1:17 PM my salad came out at about 1:30 however my spaghetti not come out until 1:53. The platter that it was served on was large and the sauce was very watery and lacked flavor and taste. I went on to assume that it was marinara sauce however I was wrong I cannot describe it in a positive way unfortunately. Although I am a fan of the breakfast items here I cannot recommend ordering the spaghetti.
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
Love that place great service love the owner never complain about nothing great place to eat breakfast lunch

Levi K.

Yelp
THE MOST AFFORDABLE BREAKFAST IN TOWN. HANDS DOWN. I absolutely love this little spot! The staff is so friendly and full of personality. The food takes a while (not crazy though) and everything I've had is either decent or absolutely delicious! I highly recommend any of their simple affordable breakfast meals and would say they have my favorite pizza in the greater Philadelphia area. No complaints! So happy this little establishment exists, it's definitely an endangered species.
google avatar

Ace J.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood, and this is one of the closest places around me. It's a restaurant ran by a very kind Portuguese family. The atmosphere has nothing too exciting about it, and their menu has too many different things to offer. They do have pretty nice sandwiches, like the Italiano and the grilled chicken royal. And I enjoy their pizza a lot more than other regular places. But the majority of my other orders have been slightly disappointing.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Tons and tons of awesome, friendly, delicious comfort food. Don't be fooled by the name of this place. It's a classic diner.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Really nice owners and good portions for cheap. The Spanish fries are really good and the pizza is average. The atmosphere is very cheap pizza place like and I mean it is cheap but again it's pretty good. Very good service and quick.
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
First off, this review is only for their breakfast, as that is all I've had here. Spring Garden has the diner breakfast that much of the Spring Garden/Fairmount area is missing. They serve healthy -- OK... large, portions of almost any dish. Don't expect gourmet, but rather simple, tasty diner food. Their grits have passed the southern test by myself and another southern friend. The potatoes are excellent, eggs done correctly and served in threes. I've never had the pancakes or french toast, but they look delicious. All of this is accomplished without paying a premium. For the most part, we normally spend less than $7/person including coffee. This isn't a hip brunch spot, and you won't be charged like it is.

Kevin R.

Yelp
5 stars for the garlic crust and delicious pizza. Very affordable for the size. The Rancho is my favorite!

Lee M.

Yelp
Spring Garden Restaurant is one of my favorite places for a meal made with love! Owned by a warm, friendly family who takes the time to learn all the local's names. The portions are huge, affordable, and delicious! Come here for a hearty breakfast or delicious lunch/dinner.

Yelp
Been buying from spring garden pizza for more then 10 years There food has always been fresh and always very large servings. Not like a lot of restaurants that get skimpy on the food Delivery can be slow sometimes but always worth the wait The owner is always there and very helpful I would highly recommend and look forward to many more years buying from them

Soni A.

Yelp
This is the closest food joint to my apartment so i've ventured out a few times. The atmosphere is like an 80s family owned diner. I so wanted to love this place but it falls short. Pros: Lots of meat options, large servings, home style, cheap Cons: Inconsistency. If you've been to a small family restaurant, the most obvious thing that bugs me is that their food is inconsistent. Sometimes good, sometimes eh. So I dont eat meat, and I think if you do, you'll like this place a whole lot more than me. My bf has gotten some of the chicken sandwiches, and he loves them. The large lasts 2+ meals. My last visit I got spanish fries and veggie pizza. DO NOT GET THEIR PIZZA. It's awkward because it's family owned and I feel bad making a fuss. My pizza fresh from the oven, had little puddles of water. I looked at the waitress, she didn't seem to see a problem. I ate a couple slices and by that point the water seeped through making 75% of the dough wet. I was done. My bf got the lunch special, springgarden chicken salad, chicken soup, and fries. He like it very much. I was in a sour mood and taking it out on the bf. It sucks spending money when the food doesnt live up to it. ESPECIALLY, while watching him enjoy his. Overall my experience was a 2 my bf experience was a 4, so I compromised with a 3 star rating.

Yelp
Such a wide variety of food that you can get- ranging from pizza to breakfast options to hoagies to pasta, etc and the list goes on. I am a regular at this place- great prices, large portions, and lots of Italian goodness.
google avatar

Steph M.

Yelp
I ordered breakfast at 7:30 am. I did not receive my food until 9:15. Almost two hours, completely unacceptable. When I asked the delivery person why did it take so long...he shrugged his shoulders and said because he had to wait for all the other orders in my building. I will NEVER order from them EVER AGAIN!
