Most Notable LA Restaurant Closures of 2018 | Eater LA

"Highly lauded French fine-dining from Tony Esnault and Yassmin Sarmadi will close in the next few weeks after the owners decided not to renew their lease; the duo will instead focus on opening their South Coast Plaza restaurant Knife Pleat by spring 2019, which will continue Esnault’s classically trained French flavors. Spring earned significant praise, including a high placement on Jonathan Gold’s 101 Restaurant List and solid reviews, and was housed in a space with a glorious atrium and tastefully elegant decor tucked deep inside a Downtown LA building that made it a bit hard to see from the street." - Eater Staff

Spring, Downtown LA’s Lauded French Restaurant, to Close After Two Years | Eater LA

"A highly lauded French fine-dining restaurant from Tony Esnault and Yassmin Sarmadi that will close when its lease expires at the end of August; the owners chose not to renew so they can focus on opening a new South Coast Plaza project. The space, tucked deep inside a Downtown LA building and therefore somewhat hard to spot from the street, featured a glorious atrium and tastefully elegant decor. After being announced in 2012, the restaurant finally opened in 2016 and, following a slow unveiling, earned strong critical praise including a high placement on Jonathan Gold’s 101 list and other solid reviews before running for roughly two-and-a-half years." - Matthew Kang

Great place! Picnic tables, paved path. Quiet despite being near the road. Good for a little stargazing- surprisingly low city lights for the area.

This is a wonderful addition to the area. It used to be here around the turn of the last century and was originally called Synidcate Park. They had routed the natural spring into the sewers at some point and the natural spring lake was gone. They completely re-did the area and rebuilt the lake in 2019 and continue the development through 2021.

Great place to beat the heat out of your meat if you feel me, I mean I do especially when I'm doing so. 🤣

Well....the fountains are nice. Sadly, there's garbage everywhere and a dive-bombing bird!

I do not recommend the playground because the grass all around is full of barbed sticker plants. I’m just glad I took off my shoes to play in the sand first and not my son’s because I took one step and had about 10 painful stickers stuck on each foot. Yikes! Not what you want where kids are playing.
