"Bethesda Magazine reports that after 25 years in business, the flagship Spring Mill Bread Co. store is closing next month. The local chain, which continues to operate locations elsewhere in Maryland, as well as on Barracks Row and in Arlington, Virginia, produces fresh baked breads, pastries, and sweets." - Warren Rojas

This review is based only on customer service. I've learned to call businesses ahead of time to check on the availability of gluten-free items. When I called this bakery, someone answered with a very short "hello." I wasn't even sure I had reached a business. When I asked about gluten-free bread, I received a short answer in a tone bordering on rude: "We don't have any right now." No suggestion of when they would have any, no apology, NO customer service. Kindness would go a long away.

I like coming here and picking up fresh bread or cookies or brownies. It's very nice having a bakery in downtown Bethesda. It is so convenient and comforting.

Sad to see this location closed on 2/19/18. Really enjoyed the baked goods and especially their grilled cheese on peasant bread. Nearest location is Takoma Park. Wonderful staff as well.

This place is so wonderful and the atmosphere feels nice and homey. The tuna salad sandwich is the best I've had. Do yourself a favor and stop by!

The apple streusel bread makes the 4 stars. Minus one for dry challah.
