Spring Street Bar is a great neighborhood hangout with a fun, relaxed vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can catch a game on one of their decent amount of TVs, grab a few drinks without breaking the bank, and play a round of foosball, pool, or darts with friends. The crowd is friendly, the staff keeps things running smoothly, and the atmosphere just feels easygoing and comfortable. The food is way better than you’d expect from a casual bar; everything I’ve had has been solid, but the wings stand out as some of the best around. They’re crispy, full of flavor, and worth the trip on their own.

Google
This is a dive bar. Don’t expect much from the inside. You walk up and order your food. Once you get your smash burger you will see why you drove over here. Quite possibly the best burger in Louisville. Perfectly cooked and seasoned with awesome French fries.

We met a small group of friends here on Sunday for lunch. The place was busy/ but not over-crowded. We started out with drinks. I had an awesome old fashioned and my friends had mimosas and a Bloody Mary and both were happy with theirs as well. We ordered off of the lunch menu- I had a smash burger and it was amazing! My friend had wings and they were big and yummy. No one had any left at the end of the meal and we all left full and happy. We were having too much fun to stop and take pictures. The service was fast. The bartender was friendly. I highly recommend this place. We will absolutely come back here again. It was a great locally owned bar and Grill that I will happily visit again.

Google
Gave me dive bar vibes, but in a good way! Food was good, got the smash burger and a Reuben. Both were tasty, and the onion rings were fried crunchy (I hate a soggy onion ring). Fries were good also. Open till 4:00 on a Sunday night/ Monday morning!? Yes! Extra points for that. Food came up fast, and they have a decent selection of craft beers, wine, and cocktails.

Great burger , great salad , awesome music, attentive service , comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Google
Used to be one of our favorite wing places . Wings were fantastic , and the veggie and homemade dip served with was awesome ! Also liked the vibe of bar ! Realize there’s been changes to place but we just felt wings were not as good . Also the Brussel slaw was incredibly salty . Overall not something we make a trip for .

Google
We went for Wing Week. Their special coconut curry did not have much flavor. It's a local bar, where you go up to order food and drinks. It's brought to you. I can't speak for any other food. 2 separate areas. One is the actual bar and then there was a back area with more seating.

Kalt

Google
Took over a half an hour to get two burgers to go. The chef came out and apologized that they lost our ticket but still frustrating. They advertised the burger as $10 on Tuesday but not to go. Got charged full price for a burger and waited a full eat in time. Staff didn't offer to remedy it at all.

Yelp
Such and awesome burger and great place to watch a game. Should be higher reviews. Yummi

Yelp
The burger was pretty good. Crinkle cut fries are a fan favorite. The Korean bbq wings were not the jam. I was thinking it would be the sweet, sticky sauce. It was the red pepper paste style sauce. Totally different flavor profile. Otherwise, the wings were good. I took them home and resauced them.

Yelp
Really enjoyed their menu! I was in the mood for pub grub and they delivered. Seat yourself, order at the calendar, and they will bring it to your table. Chips and queso was disappointing for the price. Not enough queso and salty chips you'd get at a sporting event. Burgers, grilled cheese, and chili was good, I enjoyed the fries, but note they have a bit of seasoning. Large inside with plenty of tables for small and larger groups. Pool tables in the front room. Street parking easily found. I'm looking forward to going back to try more.

Yelp
Spring Street is a great neighborhood watering hole that has the right mix of good food, good beer selection, decent cocktails, and a lot of room to spread out. This is also one of the few places near the Highlands that has a lot of TVs and takes sports seriously...but I wouldn't consider it a traditional sports bar. It really is a neighborhood place, and quite an institution. I went there for the opening NFL Sunday. Every game was on, including my Saints. So I took a seat in the back corner near a small TV that the game was playing. It felt very cavernous from where I was sitting. But I also had three TV's right in my view, which was perfect. There were a number of Bills, Bengals, and Bears fan, so it was boisterous time. I started with jumbo wings, and I decided on Korean BBQ. The sauce was good, and while I don't need wings submerged in juices, I would've appreciated a little bit more flavor. That said --- these wings are jumbo, and they're pretty good. The fries, which are $6 and plentiful, were also delicious. The beers and Moscow Mule were exactly what I needed. You order everything, drinks and food, from the bar. Service was very efficient and the bartender working the bar, seemingly by himself, was awesome. He even picked up an empty for me and took my drink order. He also looked at my Saints jersey and knew where I needed to go before I asked. That's the type of experience you can only really get in touristy areas or neighborhood bars. If we lived in Irish Hill, this would be a regular haunt for me. The moderately high prices and far walk from my house are the only things preventing me from coming more. I think food, drink options, and experience are worth the journey to Spring Street.

Yelp
Good place to watch a game. Great beer and cocktail selection! The burger and fries looked pretty tasty but the tenders and hot pepper cheese balls were way overcooked. Nevertheless I keep going back simply because I like the vibe.

Yelp
Came here for Louisville Burger Week this year. Have heard of and passed this place but have never been in. I was definitely ready to see what the buzz was all about because, I have heard some good things about this place. There is street parking but, they also have small private parking behind their building. I came in through the back and seated myself at the bar. It wasn't crazy busy at the time I went because it was about 8:45 at night but, they had a pretty good crowd. I got service in a pretty reasonable amount of time and I did have to wait for my burger and fries. With it being burger week, wait times being long were expected. It was definitely worth the wait. I did have a beer while waiting. This burger was cooked perfectly and so were the fries. This was my favorite burger for burger week, everything was perfect and I had no complaints. The staff was great and I definitely liked the inside of the bar. It looked more like a restaurant/bar type of place but, not a bad thing of course. I like that it is well lit and not dark like most bars . I will definitely return here at some point in time.

Yelp
Cute low key bar with decent bar food. A great stop to start the night with friends (plus, they're really close to Headliners -- pre-show hangout spot). The price was good too. Service was quick. We were only one of two groups here this night. Would do again. :)
google avatar

Tommy H.

Yelp
Good ole neighborhood bar and grill but there was simply nothing special about the food on this particular evening.

Ashley H.

Yelp
Great food besides the Ruben and coleslaw, Ruben was over cooked and tasted disgusting. Everything else was amazing
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
BEST traditional Buffalo wings in the city. The sauce is perfect and wings are big and crunchy. Smash. Burger is spot on. Definitely will be back. Blue cheese and ranch are homemade and you can tell. Service is great! Pic only shows 5 left. 10 come wit order and they are big!

Yelp
We decided to try a new place for us that was local and low key. It was my wife's birthday and simply wanted some unpretentious food. As regular customers of The Payne Street Bakehouse across the street we watched as this place had reopened and heard some positive reviews. It has the look and feel of Hauck's Corner in Germantown if that helps. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich with a $2 up charge for onion rings. I went with the fish sandwich and also decided on onion rings. Both sandwiches were good but a bit messy. The onion rings were a hit. Good choice for us. Service was excellent and our food was served quickly. My wife was offered a free piece of cheesecake, however, we just had cheesecake from Big Nita's a couple of days ago. We appreciate the gesture. They do have happy hour Monday through Friday and trivia night on Monday. And thanks again to the staff who noticed my wife forgot her purse and brought it to our car. We will return in the future.

Yelp
I came here for Burger Week; it was the greatest experience ever. The food was great, the employees were SUPER nice and helpful, and the ambiance was great. It's the best place to go to get burgers. I would consider coming here
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
My husband are here about once every week or two. It's a little hole in the all place that's perfect to watch a game. Service is great, and the bartenders are always attentive. The food is amazing, and the wings are out this world. The queso is really good too. Just a chill bar with great food and beer. What more could you want?

Jonathon M.

Yelp
We love coming to Spring Street bar and Grill, often times my wife and I will go on long walks and will into them here. The drink prices are excellent, the staff is always very helpful, and even our dogs like the outdoor seating area. We used to go to another bar, and the dogs didn't like it there, but they always seem to really enjoy Getting to Spring Street. honestly, mini bars have outrageous prices, but I found that the drinks here are the cheapest of any place. I've been in recent years, which is much appreciated and quality isn't sacrificed. I highly recommend.

SomeStufs Y.

Yelp
Best place for wings, fries, burgers and an overall amazing experience 10/10 would recommend. Employees are great and non- argumentative. The place has great decor and sets the right tone with games all around.

Yelp
Normally before I write a review like this, I sleep on it for the night to simmer my mood and get perspective. However I woke just as indignant. We'll start with standing at the bar for 5 minutes without any acknowledgement from either of the bartenders. ( I was the only one standing there ) Finally one of them made eye contact, muttered something under their breath and continued with whatever they were doing at the time. Went back to my table and waited on a server to make a round for my order, since the bar staff was to "busy"... A server never came. Went back to the bar where I stood for another 5 minutes before finally being acknowledged. I asked the price of a pitcher of Budlight, to which the bartender responded, "Budlight" and immediately started pouring. It was $12 by the way, not bad. Took the beer back to the table and went to the kitchen counter for a food order. Chips and Queso $7. Attached is a picture of the what I recieved. Minus the 4-5 "mostly whole" chips, the basket was all bottom of the bag crumbs. And this was not the only order I saw like this. The queso was overly roux'd and tasted more like a cheese flavored breakfast gravy. Grainy and flour heavy to the point where you could almost chew it. Melted Velveeta would have been an upgrade. Experiences like this makes one wonder how all the good restaurants are having to shut down from lack of business, leaving places like this to continue to get clientele. Will NOT return

Yelp
Finally made my way to Spring Street! We came for brunch during the weekend, right when they opened. It wasn't busy and we sat down right away. We sat in the bar area and it looks almost the same as it used to before changing ownership, which is great! Kept all the charm. Ian and I split the chicken tenders basket, which was enough for the two of us (maybe 2-3 tenders each) and we also got fries. I wish the fries were crispier but they tasted good. I'll certainly be back! Love me some bar food.

Yelp
We tried out Spring Street Bar and Grill for the first time since they reopened during Burger Week. Service is order at the counter, take a number, and they bring your food out to you. Nothing we had was bad but nothing was impressive either. We had their regular burgers with crinkle cut fries. Both were decent. We also shared an order of onion rings which looked fabulous but could have used more seasoning. They just lacked something. That's actually pretty true for everything. It all had potential that it didn't live up to. I will also note that I don't think their smash burger was quite thin enough to be considered one. My husband had a Guinness and I had a mule. Both were just fine.

Kyle M.

Yelp
Ate at Spring Street for dinner after a distillery tour. The smash burgers were very good, the fries were fine, the chips and queso entree wasn't anything to write home about, but all were well portioned and the staff was very friendly. It is more of a "self serve" setup where you sit down and look at the menu, then go up to the counter and order what you want, then go get it from the pick up window when it's ready. The soft drinks are from a fountain and also self serve. We didn't get any cocktails this time around. If you're looking for a good burger and quick service, I'd give it try.

Yelp
Recommended by a bartender down the street for a late night bite. Good food. Good service. Great place to catch a game. Checks all the boxes for me.
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
Us out-of-towners were looking to watch our team's football game. This place was recommended as a local sports bar with good wings. This place did not disappoint. They were accommodating to multiple fans asking for multiple games, lo-key vibe with a friendly staff. Get the wings with the house made hot sauce and have a good time.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Spectacular dive bar of happiness. Perhaps the best meal I had while in Louisville. The food was tasty and well prepared. The service was good and quick. The beer was great and cold. What more can you ask for? This is a "true" neighborhood bar, that truly reminded me of what my childhood was like "back north." Easy parking, no frills, awesome place.
google avatar

Lesley S.

Yelp
Went here for a Facebook pick up of tap handles. David has just about everything up for sale. I do not know if anyone else is taking over or if it's juts closing completely. Look him up on Facebook marketplace for signs and today was neon bar signs.
google avatar

Dan B.

Yelp
Went on a recent trivia night. The wings were not good. Zero crispiness to them. The order taker asked if I wanted them hot or mild. I said mild. Because buffalo is mild. Mild meant wonderful color and minimal flavor. The chicken was tough. This is something I've noticed when a place describes the wings as 'jumbo'. The fries were good! A companion had fried chicken bites that were 50/50 chicken/breading. Not a good ratio. Another companion had a burger and spoke favorably about it. The trivia host was very enjoyable. I'll probably be back for that, but skip the food.
google avatar

Don C.

Yelp
Fantastic Bartender! Great wings and cold beer. Exactly the place I was looking for to watch March Madness.
google avatar

Kathy V.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised! I came with not the highest of expectations, just hunger and this was close by. The only real negative was that service was a bit slow. A few times we were looking around for the server to either place our order, get menus or get drink refills. I ordered the turkey burger with a side of tater tots. Maybe a greasy spoon is not the best place to go for a turkey burger...but lemme tell you! It was pretty fantastic! Juicy and delicious. I would 100% order it again! The tater tots were fine. Nothing special but a fun option as a side. If I was in the area and wanted a burger, this would be on my list of options.

Yelp
What to get: -- Time seated: 0 mins (Saturday 12:30PM for 5) Time food arrived: 15 mins Ambiance: chill, local hangout, bar with live music Parking: street ==The Location & Space== I pass this place every single day, so I'm glad I got to finally check it out with some acquaintances. Right on the corner of Payne and Spring St., this little bar is open til 4AM with plenty of places to park on the street. It's not a busy area, so it's a nice attraction to bring people to the neighborhood. Inside is like a regular bar decorated with memorabilia all over the walls. They have two main areas to eat, with one room that can be closed off in back. You can easily eat/drink with small groups. Maybe since it was lunchtime on a Saturday, but it's a mild and small crowd in there. With its laidback vibe, it could easily be the neighborhood bar. ==The Food== Someone's friend recommended the Turkey Burger and to get it with their homemade chips. To me, it's like a burger you can get at a home cookout. It's savory, filling, and got all the basics you'd want. The chips were pretty crisp. Overall it's decent, but not something I'd recommend to others. ==Overall Verdict== I like that it's a local and small pub. The food is alright, but I'd stick to beer or alcohol.

Kim J.

Yelp
Food was good and priced right and owners are super nice! Looking forward to going again!!

Jake H.

Yelp
Just passing through the city on a work trip and Ben behind the bar was very helpful. He made excellent suggestions and gave a lot of insight to each one. I recommend anyone stop in for some great food or a drink.

Steve R.

Yelp
Best chicken wings in Louisville. Always crispy, friendly professional staff. They'll put on whatever game you want to see! Always coming back.

Ro B.

Yelp
Spring Street is back open and it's better than ever! I was excited to hear it opened and it didn't disappoint. I can't recommend enough to come and have great time

Alex H.

Yelp
If a soup of bbq sauce on wings is your thing, this is the place for you. Otherwise the best thing they've got going is the activities in the back.

Yelp
Take this review with a grain of salt. Discovered this place when driving home from Frankfort ave one night and bookmarked it later after checking out the reviews. So tonight I decided to stop by for dinner. It was a Sunday night - and the place was very quiet. Bartender (Jon) said it normally is on a Sunday except during football season. The reason I came was to be able to check out a local favorite hangout without eating "bar food". The menu seemed to be a little broader then the typical burgers and fries (of course they have those). Even thought he said they were known for wings, I ordered the quesadilla ($8) and it was a huge serving loaded with chicken - and very good. It even came with a side....which for me was baked beans. Ok selection of draft beers reasonable priced (just under $5). I'd like to come back on a different night when things are a little more happening. But my experience was positive. Friendly crew on staff.

Conner G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great food! Had the fish sandwich and onion rings and it was fantastic.

Bruce G.

Yelp
yooo this is food is the best stuff ive ever put in my mouf. yes. everyone at my table loved what they ordered and it's not expensive. gooooood move
google avatar

Lee Ann S.

Yelp
John behind the bar is amazing. He was attentive and engaging. We stopped in for takeout and had a beer while waiting. John checked our order to ensure that it was accurate and as we wanted it before bagging and handing it over to us. Very good service and excellent food! We will definitely be back.

Mark G.

Yelp
"Best wings this side of Buffalo" I question. They were OK. My stepson showed me this place. Not sure I would have found it without GPS. I got the mild wings and they had the right amount of heat. It was a give it a try kind of place.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Cute, divey neighborhood place. Had the fried pickles with homemade pepper dressing - they were amazing! The best cut (spear) with a light and crispy breading. Highly recommend My Smoked pulled pork sandwich (with baked beans, homemade coleslaw and tangy BBQ sauce) was less stellar, the meat was dry and seemed like it had been under a heat lamp for a while. The beans and coleslaw were good though. All in all, good place.
google avatar

Kristie T.

Yelp
I come here before all the Va Va Vixens shows and pregame and sometimes afterwards as well. It's like a "Cheers" bar because everybody knows everybody there and even I met an awesome friend there and is there everytime I go. Great beer prices and great bar foods. I've had the pickles, queso and cheese curds and they were all pretty great. The bartender (John I'm pretty sure) is the one who has always waited on me so he's all I know, but he's efficient and funny to talk to.
google avatar

Hugh S.

Yelp
I love this place. Go knowing it's a great dive bar. Some of the best wings in town IMO. Great beer. I enjoy coming here, quite a variable cohort of people that come and they are all great and unique. Will stop for a beer and wings, watch a game in the multiple TV's. Has a full bar and great drinks and specials. Game room with pool table. Easy parking. Don't miss Spring Street if you are looking for a great dive bar.

Yelp
Venue: Great neighborhood bar with pub grub that features nightly drink specials and some good specials. Vibe: It's super laid back and most everyone seems to be from the surrounding local neighborhoods. Staff are friendly, especially Laurie, and will squash it if anyone gets too rowdy. Vittles: It's pub grub, but it's good. Their wings are some of the best and their potato wedges and cheese balls are great, too. Another fave is the fried green tomato sandwich. Verdict: Would I return? I have and I will. You really can't beat the friendly vibe and prices. Beves: They have everything. Wednesdays are margarita night, which are great, and you can get $4 Makers on Thursday. I don't think you can beat their drink specials.

Matt D.

Yelp
Great food. Great staff. Plenty of TVs. Burger and wings are not to be missed. Great neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Kirstin J.

Yelp
I ordered take out for lunch. The chili was undercooked. Some of the ground beef in it was raw? Seriously, do they just toss in burger patty scraps throughout the day. The Benedictine sandwich was basically green food dyed cream cheese with a few bacon crumbles. Apparently, it's homemade but I have my doubts. They ran out of dark rye and decided on a new bread choice for me. Overall the bar food was really disappointing. They only saving aspect for this place was the women behind the bar was kind and friendly when getting my take out order ready. Save your money don't eat there and just stick with drinking beer.

Robb L.

Yelp
Short and simple review; the BEST Buffalo Wings in Louisvillle. Why, well I'm a fan of simplicity. They have hot wings, one heat level which is just hot enough but not too hot. I'm no fan of the chain store wing places who's goal seems to be to out hot the market. Similarly, Im no fan of strip mall wing joints who offer 177 different kinds of sauces. Although Spring St. offers other flavors this is THE SPOT for Spicy Buffalo Wings in Louisvillle. Cool atmosphere. Nice beer selections including taps and cans/bottles. Very solid bar where I'm sure they can make any drink you'd like. Check out Spring Street.

Slava F.

Yelp
It begins with me and a group of my friends coming in during one of their Monday night wing specials. The deal sounds great for 50 cents per wing until you have to pay for ranch and celery separately. Then it's such a big problem for me to have all flats instead of drums and flats. That leads me to believe the wings aren't made to order. As we are giving our orders, the server doesn't write any of our orders down and uses her memory to place the orders. The food comes out and my fries are fresh and ready and my wings are cool and have some cold spots by the tips of the wings. Also I get blue cheese instead of ranch and our meals weren't 100% accurate, which would have been fixed with a written order. When I noticed I had blue cheese, it took the server up until my last wing before I could tell her about it. Overall I had a horrible experience, I'm never going to come here again.

Yelp
Good Stuff .... I meant I'm Stuffed!! The food is awesome... I had my 1st hot brown ever....& the bartender can make an awesome traditional old fashion

Yelp
Definitely a cool place. More than just bar food, which is nice ! Salads and sandwiches as well as the normal deep fried deliciousness that is your classic bar food like fried cheese bites, pretzels and beer cheese, and fried pickles. Definitely a cool atmosphere !
