Springfield Distillery

Springfield Distillery is a must visit! My fiancé and I have been roughly 5 times. Our first stop was in the original building in early 2024 and the rest have been in the much larger, new tasting room. The staff's hospitality is unmatched and the drink selection is plentiful. Whether you're a bourbon drinker or a cocktail connoisseur, Springfield has something for you. Kelly and Sara have always treated us well. They have gone as far as to recommend other hidden treasures in the area and even booked us a reservation at a local restaurant. While I can't guarantee you'll receive the same perks, I can say you'll feel more like apart of the family as opposed to a routine customer. I recommend this place to all my friends and family and make a point to visit anytime I am in the area. If you're on the fence about attending, just do it! You will not be disappointed!

Springfield Distillery is one of our favorite places—and not just because their whiskey is amazing (though, let’s be honest, that helps). Kelly and James Gordon are not only masters of crafting delicious spirits, they’re also total softies for animals. They welcome dogs like VIP guests, and they’ve always got our backs when it comes to fundraising. From hosting events to donating awesome raffle items, they’re basically the SPCA’s dream team. Whiskey and wagging tails? Yes, please. We absolutely love them—cheers to good people and great pups! 🥂🐶

This place is amazing its off beaten path but love it. They have beautiful place get together the family is extremely nice and they make Wonderful liquor!!! Taste awesome will go back !!!!

My husband and I discovered this location because of Groupon. They are located in Springfield, VA. A very expensive property with lots of trees and you can see cows in the distance. The bar is located in a cabin. There are only a couple of tables inside. 2 bathrooms with sliding barn doors are inside as well. There are a number of picnic tables outside. There is also a covered area with tables and the day we visited live music. In cooler weather they have a couple of raise fire pits that are a nice place to warm up. We had a tour which included 2 drink glasses. The tour was very informative. We learned about their process as well as about how the family came to start their distillery. It is very much a family operation. They show a lot of attention to detail and take a lot of pride in their product and making sure it is quality. Grandma is even present to tell you how great her grandson is doing. We did a tasting. The cost is $20 for tasting 3 And a large cocktail or 4 tastings and a small cocktail. We really enjoyed the Bottled and bond bourbon, 1847. It was aged 4 years and was very smooth with a burn. We also liked a couple of the flavored whiskeys. This was the first time we had ever had a mint whiskey. I really like mint mojitos and this will make a great base for that. We also liked the blackberry whiskey.

Do not pass this place up. Every where we went we were told to try the distillery and they did not disappoint. had a great time there and would highly recommend a stop here even if you aren’t into whiskey. She has something for every taste and you will leave with a smile on your face. The grounds are perfect for outdoor games and hanging out with friends or family. Or you can relax on one of the many seats on the wrap around porch. They also rent out cabins and a home if you prefer to extend your stay here. Highly recommend the 1842 and the peach. Her best seller is the blackberry which taste great in the lemonade drink they sell. They also have great limited releases to keep you coming back for new great experiences. Enjoyed every minute here. So welcoming and fun. Support local business.

My husband and I have been going to Springfield Distillery for about three years after finding it while out riding our motorcycles. This place is awesome. The people are awesome. The drinks are awesome. The atmosphere is awesome.

Great little tucked away gem. The service and drinks were amazing. It's a great place to unwind and relax with loved ones and friends. Worth the trip out.

Great time. Enjoyed talking with the owner and staff. Enjoyed all the whiskeys we tried. The rye was my favorite. Will be back for another visit soon

Will visit again! We were from out of town and the staff/owners treated us like family. The environment is uniquely charming. The flights/tasting were great and well orchestrated.

Whiskey!! Wonderful find in Halifax County!! Beautiful countryside and bursting with charm. The owner was supreme and while we were choosing what to purchase, she offered us samples. From blackberry, to peach, to honey.... they are all crafted magnificently. For our visit, we settled on whiskey + coffee. I love how she asked what level of sweetness we preferred and then brought out our favorite creamer to add in the coffee. The coffee + cream + whipped topping was perfect to sit outside on a Fall evening and sip. After packaging our to go bottles, we asked a few more questions to the distiller himself and he shared that they make about 2 batches a month,sometimes 3. Even though it wasn't a tour, his sharing helped us understand the process and how lucky we were to find this gem. Even if you don't drink whiskey, go and enjoy the scenery. Order some snacks and play a few board games. Excellent for date night, Friday cheers or just because.

The drinks were great treat on a hot day. The place was really cool with the old buildings and farm around you. We played some of the table games and had several different drinks and tried some of their whiskey, it was a little different but tasty so we will definitely be coming back for a visit while we are in town.

Enjoyed the cocktails. Good variety of whiskey. Even a bourbon option. Friendly folks and the outdoor area is beautiful.

This is a great place for big or small groups. Dog-friendly (if on leash), and enough room to social distance when suggested. The family who owns the distillery are incredibly helpful and can suggest other local spots to try or visit. In addition to the delicious whiskey, they also offer an assortment of Virginia-based snacks like jalapeño dip and pimento cheese (highly suggest trying both). Can't wait to go back!

The best little hidden gem in our county! The owners are THE BEST, they treat everyone as family and will happily sit down and speak to you. All the drinks are great as is the atmosphere. We have never had a bad experience. All around good people, good drinks, good vibe and good company. They also have food trucks on the weekend, and have cabins for rent on AirBnB. We love it there!

All the flavors are so smooth! Rum, Honey whiskey, Cinnamon whiskey and BlackBerry.... all equally wonderful.

We stayed at Springfield 1842 during the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR and had a very nice stay. The hospitality, lodging and scenery were great! I hope we return in the future, and highly recommend this business to everyone. Halifax and South Boston are close by for groceries, dining, banking and gas. I think my favorite aspect was the wraparound porch, peacocks and the people. Thank you!

This is one of the coolest places near by. Wonderful quaint distillery that host with great music and local caterers. Great group of people.

This was a very nice stop along the route. We are always looking for unique places to stop on our motorcycle trips. This distillery was settled along River Rd. 659 in Halifax, VA. Very nice road to ride with several historic/old buildings/houses oblong the route. The distillery is just starting out however they have a nice, cozy tasting room with a huge porch. You could choose to play many of the games that were waiting to make your time outside fun and enjoyable. While sipping a delightful cocktail. The tasting was fun. He showed us some neat but simple cocktails that were delicious. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. I could see using this facility for an event like a wedding or party. Hope you all get to check this place out. We had a great time.

The tasting room is a restored tobacco barn filled with great people and great spirits. Whiskey, rum and bourbon are the standards, but the real magic of the place is the flavored whiskeys. If you're lucky, Kelly will be there pouring and serving and giving out tons of recipes and stories. Can't wait to return to enjoy the ample and beautiful outside pavilion with a band and food trucks.
