ATTENTION!!!! FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO EAT!
We ate at Springtown Inn last night as a part a dinner that was for a local community men’s group — our annual Christmas dinner — and unfortunately the experience was a major disappointment.
To start with the positives: the building itself is charming. The age of the inn, combined with the Christmas decorations, created a warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere. We also had our own private room, which was very nice. Sadly, that welcoming setting only made the rest of the experience more frustrating.
Service went downhill almost immediately. The waitress took drink orders in no particular order, and my drink never arrived. After about 15 minutes, I jokingly asked if she may have forgotten about me. Her response was, “Yes, I did — and then I couldn’t find a copper cup for the drink.” After that interaction, no one from the wait staff spoke to me again for the remainder of the evening.
Warm dinner rolls were served, but there was no butter on the table — only olive oil. These were not crusty Italian-style rolls meant for dipping, which made that choice confusing and disappointing.
Our table was served last. When my prime rib finally arrived, it was immediately obvious that it was cold. The meat was barely lukewarm at best. The carrots were essentially cold, and the potatoes ranged from warm to cold. I tried repeatedly to get the attention of the wait staff and was completely ignored.
Throughout the entire meal, I was never asked if I wanted another drink — not even a refill of water.
To make matters worse, another woman at our table received a drink with a bug in it. She returned it, only to have to follow up more than once to see if it was even being replaced. It took over 15 minutes, then another inquiry, before she finally received a replacement drink.
The only saving grace of the evening was the company — friends and colleagues from the club. Unfortunately, the service and food quality were so poor that I honestly wish I could give half of one star.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a meal, I strongly recommend finding another restaurant.
