San Francisco Lost Some Landmark Restaurants at the Start of 2026 | Eater SF

"The Palo Alto outpost of this dessert titan has closed alongside all of the company’s locations in a New Year’s Eve shutdown, ending local access to the brand that rose to fame for its cupcakes and its Cupcake ATM vending machine that dispensed cupcakes at any time of day." - Dianne de Guzman

My favorite cupcake is definitely the rainbow sprinkles one — it’s so moist and delicious! The service was super fast too, which I appreciated. I’ve tried some of the other cupcakes, but they were a little on the dry side. Still, I keep coming back just for that sprinkles one it never disappoints!

We have been a family of Sprinkles Cupcakes fans since they first opened, but the Palo Alto store has fallen short every time we visit. We keep giving it another chance, yet we consistently experience dry cupcakes, them always being sold out of most flavors and impersonal service. However, on December 20th at around 7pm, the person handling orders ensured that our family will never visit a Sprinkles Cupcakes store again. We ordered two cupcakes to go. When she handed us the box, I asked that each cupcake be placed in its own box since we had a long drive ahead and were heading to different destinations. Instead, she moved both cupcakes into individual brown paper bags. A single cupcake with fancy frosting placed in a paper bag during a long car ride is guaranteed to be ruined by the time it reaches home. I explained this to her and again requested that each cupcake be placed in its own box so they would travel properly. At that point, she rudely refused! So we requested her to put both back in the box. Attached is a photo showing how one of the two cupcakes ultimately arrived home: in a used Ziploc bag, sitting in my car’s cup holder. When an employee shows such blatant rude disregard for a simple and reasonable customer request, it suggests the company may be moving in a very different direction from where it started years ago, when Sprinkles was known for making our evenings special with its truly delicious cupcakes.

I was never really a super fan of cupcakes until sprinkles came along. The ogs. Their dark chocolate, and red velvet are amazing. It’s like eating a frosted cake and truffle at the same time if that makes any sense. These seasonal and pretty much all their flavors are worth a try since they use high quality ingredients and are baked fresh. Frosting shots are just another reason to visit.

-Update 23 June 2025- I received one complimentary cupcake comp code due to my review from earlier in the year. I tried using the code today and I received an error even though the code is good until July. I followed the instructions they provided in the email and I received an error. I then followed the instructions on the website and it says “coupon code cannot be applied”. This only worsens my experience with the Sprinkles brand - I have now wasted additional time trying to give them another chance. I initially was time and money with the dry cupcakes experience in my previous review. ————— Never again. I tried the Miyokos seasonal cupcake and it was hollow inside and undercooked! This is definitely the last time I ever buy Sprinkles. It used to be such a fun treat and cute shop but the quality and service are no more. $66 for a dozen cupcakes and the quality is no longer there. You order from a kiosk, human interaction is only when they hand your order, and they no longer provide wooden utensils or napkins when we went. What a waste of time and money.

Google
I must say I am disappointed in this place. I spent $65 on a small red velvet cake for a birthday. Both adults and kids all seem to dislike it because it was too sweet and over frosted. The ratio of frosting the keg seemed off too which made it hard to cut. It seemed to almost collapse on itself as it was being cut. It is so disappointing to pay such a premium price for a cake and have this be the outcome.

Debbie H.

Google
Shayla did a wonderful job accommodating our individual needs for a birthday cupcake as well as purchasing a sugar-free cupcake and the new lemon meringue cupcake. She was very patient with us and informative on our choices and attended to us right away. Very pleasant atmosphere and of course outstanding cupcakes!

Google
How cute is the Red velvet everything box from Sprinkles cupcakes ? It includes 2 Red Velvet cookies, 2 Red Velvet Brownies, 2 Red Velvet Chocolate bars, 2 Red Velvet cupcakes, 2 Heartthrob Red Velvet cupcakes and two frosting shots: Salted Caramel and Cream Cheese. All adorned in a festive Red Box! The cupcake’s frosting were super sweet and delectable. The cupcake itself was moist and soft. I love how they give you frosting on the side to add more sweetness. They put so much though and love in the design of everything. I understand why people love these cupcakes so much. 📍 Sprinkle Cupcakes in Stanford Mall, Palo Alto, CA.

Google
Sprinkles! Oh how I adore thee. I have never had a bad cupcake from Sprinkles - and many, many very good ones. Their red velvet vegan is stunningly good, and you would never in a million years know it’s egg and dairy free. Their other flavors are moist and inventive, with just the right amount of cream cheese or buttercream frosting. But I guess most importantly, their cupcakes remind me of the ones my mom used to make. They taste like home. So while the kiosk system is a little impersonal, it’s worth putting up with. Their bakers are wonderfully consistent, and orders have always been correct and ready on time, and packaged beautifully. If you need something everyone will look forward to at a birthday party, give them a try; you’re in the right place.

Yelp
Had to try the ube cupcake. Sad that they were sold out of the strawberry cupcake as that's my daughter's favorite. I always go for the dark chocolate. And who doesn't love the sprinkles cupcake! You get a lot of frosting for your cupcake. Eat what you need. Toss the rest if you don't need that much. I'd rather have more than not enough. I like that the cupcakes are not overly sweet. I also was pet sitting and had to try a pup cake! She definitely enjoyed her treat :)

Yelp
It's been a while since I usually head to the San Ramon Sprinkles now since it was closer when I used to work in the area. We were heading to the Stanford Shopping Center to do some walking around and decided to pick up some Sprinkles cupcakes since we were there. Things are now a bit different again and you can go inside now, but ordering seems to be strictly though the two kiosks. So you might as well download the app and order on the app for pick up though maybe it's a bit faster if you're ordering inside with the kiosk. Not sure. Either way, we ordered at the kiosk, make sure you understand the packing process. If you're ordering 4, make sure to pick the box of 4 option and pick your flavors that way. I'm not sure what happens if you just keep picking individual cupcakes if they'd package it in a box if you reach a certain number or not. Initially, we just were picking cupcakes individually and my hubby was like oh, wait we want these 4 in a box and this one individually. I wonder if there's a way at the end to select the 4 you want in a box...again, lots of questions but we were able to figure it out in the end. It didn't take too long to get our cupcakes. There were spoons and napkins where we picked up. The atmosphere used to be so cheery and bustly when it first opened and now it's quiet and just a bit sad. Maybe it's just how things have changed over time. Still not a bad spot to pick up a cupcake treat. Just don't go during peak lunch time as parking can be a mess. Also the Pop Tart cupcake we got was actually quite good! Highly recommend trying it out.

Yelp
Was passing by and noticed a cupcake place, so gave it a shot. I only decided to try to different cupcakes since it's been a while. Red velvet and cinnamon? Taste wise it's not bad but it's only slightly better than the average cupcake. The price is..... well, higher than most. It's not something I'm into. So perhaps this is more of a special occsssion kind of deal

Yelp
Staff is friendly. Cupcakes are always so soft and yummy. Always a great purchase when we are in the area! Our pups also enjoyed their pup-cakes

Yelp
Located on the outer edge of the Stanford mall it's very easy to find and get parking. I notice alot of their seasonal flavors are hard to get my hands on. They are always sold out or grayed out and unable to add it to my cart. They are advertised to be very different and unique creations, but I've never had luck trying any of the special monthly flavors. The texture and flavors are the best. Super moist and not too sweet. They don't hold up very well after acouple of days so it's best enjoyed day of. Their staple favor is the red velvet which is one of my favorites. I also love that they incorporate options for people with dietary restrictions. Expensive per the cupcake but so good and worth it for the quality. I've also hosted a lot of parties and had boxes that you can customize the flavors by choice. If you aren't feeling the cupcakes they also have cookies and cakes.

Yelp
These cupcakes are a special treat! I wanted to order a birthday surprise for my husband so I was able to order a box of 4 the night before his birthday to guarantee his favorite flavors (triple cinnamon (a but too sugary for me but my husband loves it), strawberry (my favorite in the box), red velvet, banana). They added a custom message attached to the box, and a happy birthday sticker. When I arrived for pickup, I was able to quickly grab my bag and go as it was already paid for! So service was so quick! The place is clean, cute and fun and I was temped to buy more treats but was parked in a loading zone so had to go. It's in the Stanford Shopping center so there's lots of parking but this place was super packed on a Friday at 1230! There are option to customize the cupcake decorations for added cost. They also deliver but I was outside the radius. Store at room temperature, the fridge dries it out. Best if consumed within 24 hours.

Yelp
I liked: Sprinkles + Cjocolate sprinkles March 7th blueberry and lemon These were ok: Blueberry (blue dot) Carrot cake (red dot) My housemate picked up birthday cupcakes for me because they know I love Star Rail. Pretty solid gift since I wouldn't normally pick these up myself. More collabs please! I need more premium currency.

Yelp
Ordered a few flavors to try (seasonal + original) and although they taste decent there was nothing exceptional about them. For the same pricing, can find better tasting cupcakes elsewhere.

Yelp
Wanted to update this review because of their Chef Series: Padma Lakshmi Luscious Mango flavor cupcake. I wanted to try it as soon as I saw some pictures on Instagram and was lucky to score one on a quiet day before it sold out. It is hands down one of the best flavors they've had to date and I hope they consider bringing it back beyond 11/22. It was perfectly sweet- the light mango cake was complimented perfectly with the mango curd and cinnamon and cardamom spiced yogurt frosting. Total winner in my book and I'll be sad to see it go in two short days.

Yelp
I love Sprinkles so much it honestly might be a problem. I've had almost every cupcake they offer and they really don't disappoint. My favorite is the cinnamon sugar, but all of them are delicious and there is something for everyone's taste! I do wish they labeled their GF cupcake as "Gluten Free" instead of "Gluten Friendly"- it makes it sound like it's a cupcake friendly to gluten, which all of their cupcakes are. I also wish you could still order with a person instead of at a tablet- I really don't like how impersonal it is, and unfortunately the vibe in there kind of gives Crumbl now because of that. That being said, the cupcakes are still delicious, so I'll keep coming back!
google avatar

Jasen O.

Yelp
The cupcakes always prepared well and taste good, unfortunately the selection is typically low. I have been there several times and unless you are early, like before 2pm you don't get many options to choose from.

Yelp
I came here for my friend's birthday. Conveniently located in the Stanford Shopping Center, so easy to find parking. Cute, fun ambiance with bench-style seating indoors and outdoors. I was impressed by the number of flavors and seasonal offerings. I got the strawberry cupcake, which was very tasty. Had a little too much frosting in my opinion, but liked the presentation. I wish they sold coffee (bottled or drip), but they do have bottled drinks like water, milk, etc. Service was efficient and prompt.

Yelp
I've been a Sprinkles customer for a very long time. But my recent visit has really soured me on management. I ordered 4 cupcakes as a GIFT for my son's birthday and sadly, 3 of the cupcakes came out looking awful. Definitely not giftable based on appearance (see photo with cracks, bubbles, breaking, evidence of a problem during baking). I thought it was non-controversial to ask for store credit to re-buy them next time and I was surprised that the store manager only offered to comp one cupcake. Especially since this is their policy on their website: "contact us immediately if the product is damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right." Good customer service dictates that you empathize and apologize for trying to pass off sub-optimal cupcakes. Instead, she made excuses why the ganache was "hard" to get right. So if you're negotiating with me on how many cupcakes to comp in an effort to save $10 of revenues, I'm sorry to tell you - that is just lousy, inexcusable business judgment.

Yelp
Not sure why the low stars on Sprinkles. You order, you pick up and eat haha. Anyways, whenever we come to the Stanford Shopping Center, we stop by Sprinkles! Their cupcakes are consistently good and we love trying out their new flavor. This time it was a Cookie Cupcake. It was so good! The bottom has a cookie crust! I wish we ordered more, but we already ordered a half dozen haha. The time we went, they had a special, spend $30, which is totally easy (unfortunately? Haha), get 2 Free Pupcakes! So we took advantage of that promo and our doggies got 1 free pupcake each.

Yelp
I love Sprinkles LA. Anywhere else seems to be just ok. My fave has always been red velvet. Tried the cookie cupcake and it was super rich. The cake portion was super good but the frosting was so rich and just became too much for the muffin. Def want to go back and try other flavors though.

Yelp
Sprinkles Cupcakes | Palo Alto 1. Half a dozen of cupcakes ~ banana, red velvet, strawberry, triple cinnamon, cookie If you haven't had Sprinkles cupcakes, let me put you on. If it wasn't for my older sister (I hope you see this), I would not have been able to try these delicious cupcakes. There's something about each cupcake that brings a different experience each time you bite into one--words can't describe exactly what it is, but it's more than just the combination of the bread and frosting. All the cupcakes are made with the finest ingredients, yet the products of all the cupcakes are super concise and simple, which contributes to the success of their business.   They offer their staple favors such as red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, and sprinkles, but the nice thing about Sprinkles is that they offer not only gluten-free and vegan options but constantly come up with new flavors like their matcha yuzu. My go-to cupcake flavor is their red velvet. Hands down the best flavor they have, and you can totally disagree with me. It's the right amount of sweetness from the frosting, and the bread portion is executed so nicely that it balances out the frosting. If you're ever near Stanford Mall, check out this delightful cupcake shop and snag me a red velvet cupcake, please.

Yelp
I love this place so much and I hate it. It's such an unhealthy addiction, but OH WELL! I'm going to keep stopping by. I think that the app and rewards program needs a lot more help. They forget to remind you about you expiring free cupcakes, which make me so sad. Anyways, back to the cupcakes. I have never had a cupcake I didn't like. Some are definitely sweeter than others but always delicious. I usually pair them with a drink of milk or unsweetened coffee. The flash flavors are my fave to try. I even had the Flaming Hot Cheetos one! I usually order ahead through the app, but walking in is just as easy. If you've never tried, I definitely recommend you to!

Yelp
I love Sprinkles. I got their classic red velvet and it was so delicious. The ambiance is super nice and the smell of the bakery is so sweet and buttery. The service was super prompt, I just went up and told them about my mobile order and they handed me my cupcake. Overall, would recommend!

Rita N.

Yelp
I had purchased a couple dozen cupcakes a year prior. They made a mistake on the order. I was told by the manager at the time that I could stop by anytime and get a couple complimentary cupcakes to make up for the error. When I went, they informed me that they would not uphold the prior managers words. Apparently an email was sent (which I did not see); and the coupon was expired. The manager said that Northern California stores are now privately owned, not franchise owned. So I am out of luck.

Yelp
I've ordered cupcakes for work a few times as well as for myself. They are always a big hit with my coworkers and Sprinkles seems to be one of the few that offer Vegan and Gluten Free *and* delivery without a huge minimum order, so it ticks all the boxes. I've tried the vanilla cupcake and a seasonal lemon bar cupcake so far, and they're both very good. My SO also liked the Dark Chocolate cupcake very much. I did feel like the cake on the lemon bar was a little dry but the light lemon curd filling and vanilla frosting made up for it. Great flavors in that one. Very lemony without being too sour or too sweet. I recently needed to redeem a complimentary birthday cupcake reward but I couldn't seem to activate it online or at the store kiosk ordering system without assistance from an employee. IMO it would be an improvement if the customer could simply put in their phone or account number and have the reward come up on it's own. Perhaps in the future. Either way, the employees were helpful and friendly. Parking is not too terrible at Stanford Shopping Center depending on when you visit, so I'm sure I'll be back.

Yelp
Sprinkles is an oldie but goodie in the cupcake space! My friend is trying her best to be gluten free, dairy free, but didn't expect us to *suffer* with her during her journey. She brought a black and white, strawberry, and lemon blueberry (GF) for us to share and we were all pleasantly surprised with the lemon blueberry! We agreed we wouldn't even be able to tell it was gluten free if we hadn't been told. Kudos on the gluten free goodies!
google avatar

Yelp
Today, I was craving some cupcakes, so I headed to Sprinkles. I indulged in my favorite red velvet cupcake, which never disappoints. While I was there, I also picked up a treat for my dog, a pup cake! In addition to the red velvet, the banana flavor is another favorite of ours. Today, we decided to try the gingerbread flavor, which turned out to be pretty good. I appreciate the straightforward ordering system and the excellent customer service provided by the staff.
google avatar

Dayna L.

Yelp
Came in on my birthday for my free cupcake but you actually have to register two weeks in advance even if you show your ID.... sad but understandable. Order at kiosk was conviennent, lots of flavors, limited vegan selection, no silverware Gingerbread - Tastes exactly like a gingerbread cookie, a lot stronger flavor than I was expecting Blueberry lemon - super moist, frosting is more lemon and cake is blueberry. I wish it was less sweet. Carrot Cake- Tons of carrot shreds offers good texture and flavor, the frosting. I wish it had cream cheese frosting Sugar Cookie- this one giving! Superior topping, best flavor, sprinkles in the cake so good texture, super festive
google avatar

Shailee M.

Yelp
Cute place for cupcakes with tons of flavors! Nothing exceptional but no complaints! I would have loved if they had bite sized cupcakes so we could try multiple flavors. Online ordering process was straight forward! Not bad to get hands on LA based cupcake concept in bay area.
google avatar

Gaby K.

Yelp
I honestly don't get the hype. Tried it for the first time ever today and was highly disappointed. First off $5.35 for one cupcake is outrageous, I ordered the Sprinkle cupcake as how can you go wrong with classic funfetti. Apparently you can go very wrong. It was so dry and lacking of any flavor. It was a waste of calories to try this cupcake. The frosting was okay but overly sweet for my taste but atleast it had some kind of flavor unlike the cake itself. Would never recommend or try this locatiom atleast again. You are better off with buying cupcakes at Safeway.
google avatar

Yelp
Cupcakes for the entire family. The Pupcakes are a big hit! The Sprinkles boxes have become so recognizable that they always bring big smiles when walking into any event.
google avatar

Kim l.

Yelp
Pumpkin was the best! My friend brought some cupcakes to share. Pumpkin was nice and moist and so delicious. Chocolate and red velvet were good. I didn't try the pb but kids liked it. Icing is always super sweet but I just scrape it off.

Nourai E.

Yelp
One of my favorite bakery chains. I always get them when I see them and I was surprised to find one in Palo Alto got the strawberry flavor this time and it was so good . Dark chocolate and banana bread are my favorites but the strawberry was very good as well
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Who doesn't love cupcakes! This location is the closest one to me, and I wish there was one closer! Sprinkles cupcakes are pretty big and tasty. We got chocolate, red velvet, and sprinkles cupcakes. My only complaint would be that they are incredibly sweet. I was not a fan of the red velvet one, although I love red velvet, be size the frosting was just wayyyy too sweet. With that being said, the sprinkles one was my favorite, although still sweet. Their cupcakes are a bit pricey, but I think if you have a flavor that you absolutely love, it's definitely worth it!
google avatar

Molly L.

Yelp
We came here on a weekend and there was a steady stream of people coming in. We ordered the blueberry lemon cupcake and I think it was gluten free. My partner was concerned at first that this would mean the cupcake would be a little weird. But the cupcake was fine and I would say pretty basic. The frosting I thought would be really special and rich cream cheese frosting but it was not -- it was just basic frosting. We didn't find the cupcake to be special in any way- just a basic cupcake. Not sure if we would be back.
google avatar

Eunice T.

Yelp
You can either pre-order online or go in person and order via the kiosk. They do have one staff taking care of the final packaging & giving out orders, so you'll still be able to ask questions in-person. Unlike other kiosk-only stores, Sprinkles actually have attentive staff who will pay attention when you wave/greet them. 5/5 for customer service! She even walked out of the store sometimes to hand deliver the bagged goods. I ordered 12 cupcakes (strawberry, red velvet, carrot), $5 each + extra 50 cents per cupcake to have them be individually boxed. I personally tried the strawberry one. It was lopsided when I took it out of the box so I lost some frosting to the box, but their frosting is so sweet that you probably won't even miss it. Talk about sugar overload! Everyone I talked to mentioned that the cupcake was a bit too sweet. The bottom part of the cupcake is perfectly moist with just the right amount of sweetness for me (still on the sweeter side, but it's enough). The little logo thingy on the top of the frosting was bitter - not what I was expecting. Overall, decent place for cupcakes if you wanna feel decently fancy at an event/party.
google avatar

Lau O.

Yelp
I took a bite of the cupcake and it was very stale and dry (definitely not fresh). I went back into the store and informed the worker of the quality and she told me that it was fresh (even after I showed her how dry the cupcake was). She didn't offer a new one and have me an "oh well" attitude. I then asked her to throw it away. The service was poor and the worker had no people skills.
google avatar

Sophie C.

Yelp
Meh, went for a pickup cos they had a Cyber Monday special 20% off everything so I finally tried the vegan red velvet and a regular lemon blueberry cheesecake. 50 cents additional for the nice box and I'm not eating the box so I didn't pay extra but also didn't expect it to be in a sad brown paper bag. $5.50-6.50 for one nice looking cupcake in a doggie bag...anyway the vegan red velvet was quite good! Moist and full of flavor. The lemon blueberry on the other hand did not really taste any lemon and the texture seemed like it's borderline day old. Icing also not tasty and was slightly hard and crumbly. Think I'll go back to farmers market/local bakery for the sweet goodies.
google avatar

Jack R.

Yelp
$5 for a cupcake ?!? Is it the best cupcake ever? No Is it made with edible gold? No Is the service slow and the online day before ordering a pain in the butt? Yes I don't understand how you can have 3 girls working there with no customer service. The cupcakes here don't taste as good as the ones in Los Angeles and definitely not worth the price. They were overly sugary too. Like way too much sugar! The smores had a chunk of chocolate inside and the Graham cracker Inside was wet. The red velvet was okay. Once again every cupcake had way too much sugar though....
google avatar

Ter L.

Yelp
When it comes to the cosmetic aspects of Sprinkles [[HOLIDAY]] limited time cupcakes, they deserve 5 stars without any doubts. As a completely whole... I'd give them 3 stars. Cupcake flavors are really enticing and they vary from your typical vanilla, the very popular red velvet, and even an unexpected banana!! There really is something for everyone but I personally enjoy the seasonal offerings most. Maybe it's simply due to the extra boujee frosting designs but I can't get enough!!!! So why the 3 stars?? Cupcakes are good, just not memorably amazing. I genuinely expect more when it comes to cupcakes with such high price tag. At the very least they should be moist and on more than one occasion they were NOT. I'd come back but won't be going out of my way for these.
google avatar

Olivia M.

Yelp
My absolute favorite cupcake shop worth the splurge both calorie and pricing wise. They've automated the ordering process and you can order off an iPad. Keep an eye on the monthly specials!!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
I got a text message advertising the last days of the s'mores cupcake. When I saw there was a Sprinkles in the mall where we were shopping, I dragged my friend over there to get one. We couldn't find it at first. We were using the maps and it was in a different location and on the outside of the complex by the parking area. We ordered the s'mores and the red velvet, but I was quite disappointed with the former. When we finally ate the cupcakes, the middle wasn't filled in with marshmallow like in the picture, but with some sort of chocolate. I mean, it was okay, but nothing to write home about. The red velvet, on the other hand, was amazing.

Yelp
If you are ever within let's say 20-30 miles of a sprinkles I feel as though just go, do yourself the favor of getting the flavors you need. Went with a half dozen but that wasn't enough so added two more for 8 total. Flavors (3) banana...why? Cause I could probably eat just a dozen of these on their own. Wow everyone needs to experience this. Words can't describe it. It's not a cupcake it's next level great. Not like banana bread, not like a cake it's just in a league of its own. Carrot cake...YUM, circus cupcake that was confetti and strawberry frosting. Should be a more frequent flavor. What a great combo. Lemon blueberry was a delight, salted Carmel was so so, could take it or leave it. Triple cinnamon rounded it off and for any churros lover this will be up your ally. The aroma that fills your nostrils when you walk in should literally be the new candle scent, air freshener and car freshener everyone creates, I get first rights of this comes to be ha. It will take you into another level. No sprinkles are near me and I will always travel for these. I must say...I AM NOT A CUPCAKE FAN. These should not even be called cupcakes cause they are truly in a whole other level or greatness.
google avatar

Kimberly N.

Yelp
Love how it's conveniently located in the mall. Very convenient to order, since there were 3 kiosk. You order from the kiosk and the staff will bring the order outside to you. The red velvet and banana cupcakes are my favorite! Yes the frosting is really sweet and a bit excessive, but it helps since the cake itself was a bit dry on the day I went.
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Expensive cupcakes ($5-6 each), but they are tasty. We used Sprinkles for a gender reveal party. It was super easy- just had to drop off an envelope with the gender inside and they put frosting (pink or blue) inside the cupcakes for an extra $1 each. They were able to do this within 24 hr notice. We had called around to other bakeries, but either they couldn't do it or needed more advanced notice. Sprinkles also gives a free birthday cupcake if you sign up on their app.
google avatar

Shannon Z.

Yelp
This is a 3.5 rating. Something changed with the recipe and the Sprinkles cupcakes are now more moist, and props to the red velvet cake. I generally find their frosting to be too sweet still .
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
The vegan Red velvet cupcake is my all time favorite cupcake!!' I'm not vegan but I like the vegan option because it's less sweet than the conventional version. The frosting has an ever so slight coconut oil flavor but tasty. I never buy the other flavors because whenever I had in the past I enjoyed them but they just don't hit the spot like red velvet and Sprinkles does it well. Only cakes I've tried that can compete in the red velvet category are Susie Cakes and Nothing Bundt Cakes. All other red velvet cakes I've had aren't that great.

Yelp
Despite the other lower reviews, I love this place! I'm a cupcake fanatic and the cupcakes here are amazing. I always get the classic, red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting. The bread is really soft and the frosting matches perfectly with it. I've tried several other cupcakes as well and they are all so tasty and addicting. You can't go wrong with your favorite flavor they serve here! I only gave four starts because it can get pretty pricey. The price stops me from getting more! If I only want cupcakes for myself, I'll only opt for one. If I am going to bring home some for my friends or family, I'll bring home a box! The interior of the store is really nice. It's really spacious and the wooden theme is really cute and aesthetically pleasing. There aren't too many seating options but it doesn't tend to get too crowded inside, so you'll definitely be able to find a spot to sit. There are even seating areas outside around the plaza. Since you're just buying cupcakes, the line goes by pretty quick so don't worry about waiting for too long. I'd recommend coming earlier in the day because some flavors can sell out pretty quickly.

Yelp
I've only had sprinkles in southern california so was really excited to discover there was one at the stanford shopping center! The cupcakes are sort of pricey but honestly so worth it for the quality. Their frosting is just on another level. I usually go for the rainbow sprinkles one but today I felt like trying the strawberry one for the first time and I loved it! Nicely sweet. I'm not the biggest fan of their hard candy logo thing on top. It's just sugar but a little hard to bite. But makes a cute minimal decoration.

Yelp
I always order cupcakes from here for birthdays and celebrations. Today, I came in to order a cupcake for quick snack while shopping. I ordered on the mobile app but the earliest pick up time was 30 mins from when I was placing the order. One of the associates asked about my order and was able to get it to me within 15 minutes. Strawberry cupcake is my favorite. It's not too sweet and reminds me of strawberry pocky. Now it's $5 for a cupcake so it's on the pricier side.

Yelp
It's been years since I've returned to Sprinkles, but I stopped by a couple of months ago to pick up cupcakes for a baby shower. You can place your order online, or order at their kiosk. They'll bring your order out when it's ready, or you can go inside the shop to check in on your order. It was only about a 10 minute wait around 2:30pm on a Saturday. One of their seasonal cupcakes was the Pineapple Upside Down Cake (Pineapple Cake Filled w/Caramelized Pineapple, Topped w/Pineapple Buttercream Frosting), which was my favorite flavor out of the half dozen we tried! Their cakes were moist and fluffy, but their frostings are still way too sweet for my preference. Sprinkles is a solid choice if you don't want any surprises, since their cupcakes will look and taste exactly the same every time. Their staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking in Stanford Shopping Center can be difficult on the weekends, but there are always spots available somewhere in the complex.

Yelp
The cupcakes are 4 stars, but everything else about the experience brings up my rating to 5 stars: the neat packaging, the friendly staff, the look of the pretty cupcakes, and the overall high quality of the cupcakes. They are expensive, but it's part of the deal if you want that wow factor when you open your cupcake box! I will say that online ordering is a little confusing, they have their SprinklesNOW website and their catering website. I used their catering website to place my order because there weren't as many flavors listed on the SprinklesNOW website. Pick up was really easy; I appreciated that they put my box in a bag for my convenience. I got a bunch of flavors this time but to just highlight a few: *Peanut butter chocolate is basically a Reese's peanut butter cup but in a cupcake, and I'm here for it!!! Also the sprinkles on this cupcake aren't just brown sprinkles, they're actually little pieces of chocolate shaped as sprinkles!!! I was in awe *Sprinkle cupcake was SO messy gosh. But this is also expected I mean just look at it. It was fun once to experience but I don't think I'm going to get this one again lol *Strawberry cupcake was a pink dream and I didn't want to wake up from it With all of the cupcakes I ate, I noticed that they all have more cake than I thought. Which is good! It's actually not as much frosting as it looks. These cupcakes would make great gifts for people, but probably not for the older folks because these are WAY too sweet for them. That said, I'll definitely be coming back to eat more Sprinkles cupcakes before my body can't handle the sugar anymore!

Yelp
The last time I went to sprinkles cupcakes I got six cupcakes and it was super expensive and all the cupcakes were dried out! They were not fresh! I ordered two chocolate with marshmallow filling and even with that it was dry because they put a teaspoon of filling in it. I also got two caramel and the frosting was hard like all the other cupcakes. Guess what! They were so bad I forgot what the other two were! I'am never going here again and by the way there was only one person in the whole establishment it was a Wednesday when I went. Maybe that has something to do with it!
