I am always looking for a relaxing mealtime experience because this kind of dining seems rare here in Singapore. Whew! Found Sprmrkt in the wild backwoods of shee-shee boutiques on the second level of the Cluny Court building, which is opposite Singapore Botanic Gardens.
You've gotta take the escalator or elevator and mosey the corridors before you'll find this place, but I think it is worth it!
The slate green-gray walls and featured artwork, along with a display of food-related goodies are what I noticed when I first walked in. The featured artists/items/country apparently changes from time to time. This quarter it is about Cambodia, so interesting items are curated for the shopper and/or the diner.
Now don't get me wrong! These folks have coffee, lemonade and booze right along with a nice fresh sheet of menu items! From avocado toast to breakfast meals and fish and chips to other fancier, meatier or veggier options, they do have a perfect selection.
The day I visited there were folks clicking away on computers, sitting with a coffee and playing studious. Yup. Right along with weary shoppers or families in need of refreshment. So it's a variety of people with a variety of required victuals being taken care of, which is nice.
The air conditioning is superb. The location decor is somewhat spare, but I think the focus is on what's on the plate and what's in your head.
Wonderful spot to throw down a beer, sip coffee or quietly imbibe lemongrass and honey iced tea. Great for couples who might want to nestle into a corner and share a salmon dinner.
Be sure to use the "flag" method of letting the employees know you need something and you'll do just fine. They are polite, after all, just slightly aloof, which is completely fine here, and only contributes to the relaxed and unobtrusive vibe. Enjoy the peace!
