Google
One of the few stores that truly balances price and quality not so cheap that you get suspicious, and not so expensive that you regret it! The decor is so pleasant that you might end up buying things you don't even need. Just a heads up: the ready-to-eat section seems a bit too confident about its prices.

Linda D.

Google
I really enjoyed the employees there. So professional and very kind. They really helped me find what I needed and spoke to me like as if we've been friends forever. Come to this place, you'll never be a stranger.

Crownsius O.

Google
This supermarket is a lifesaver. It’s open early in the morning and closes late at night, which is super convenient for someone like me who works long hours. The store is always tidy, and the aisles are wide enough to not feel cramped. What stands out to me the most is their selection of organic and health-conscious products – there’s so much more to choose from than in other nearby stores. I also appreciate the in-store cafe where you can grab a quick coffee or snack. Whether you’re doing a big shop or just grabbing a few things, this place is always a solid choice.

Mark L.

Google
This is our neighborhood market so it is tough to review objectively. They have good produce but they focus on organic so, if you want non-organic, your selection is limited. They have a fair selection of other foodstuffs, including a fair selection of ethnic food. Staff is friendly but don't expect overly attentive help. Prices are a bit high. All that said I shop here 2-4 times a week, it's good enough that driving elsewhere isn't worth it.

Google
I highly recommend this store! I purchased Fresh black garlic seasoned salmon and it was perfect. It was fresh and flavorful. I pan fried it in avocado oil for about 12 minutes and it was just right. There was a huge selection of teas, produce and rustic breads. I loved the frozen Sprouts organic macaroni and cheese as well. It was a perfect, easy dinner! Follow me for more.

Google
I’ve been shopping here 10 years now and it’s a great store and friendly employees serving you every time. The one thing I wish they offered were handheld scanners at self checkout, which I’ve used before at Vons and it significantly speeds up the process.

September 6, 2025 No hello, no thank you from young female cashier. /September 3, 2025 For cashier, Goodbye is not customer service. Man in supplements aisle was very helpful. /Poor, condescending customer service on May 3, 2025. I also did not receive an envelope for a gift card I purchased. Good deals in their vitamin department.

Google
Great sale on probiotics today. I saved $11 a bottle. I got 4 bottles!

Yelp
Very annoyed. Tag said 93%fatfree ground beef for $ .99. Told at check out no, only 85% with an attitude that I was being stupid. Checked out. Went back and retrieved the tag that said 93%. Response "okay I'll tell them". Not even a perfuctionary I'm sorry. Not treated right.

Yelp
I love this store! The deli has great sandwiches and sushi, perfect for a quick meal. Meat department and produce have never let me down with lots of fresh delicious choices. Staff is helpful and friendly. Love shopping here!

Yelp
In the last few years, Sprout's has been on a notable decline. After numerous experiences of finding rotting fruit or vegetables after I got home, I finally came back with a bag of rotten avocados. To be fair, the woman who helped me was lovely - that gets them the star. And just in case my comments started you panicking about the well-being of Sprout's, fret not: they made $2.5B PROFIT last year alone... https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SFM/financials What especially angers me is that there are a LOT of elderly people in our neighborhood. Sprout's May be their only real option that's easy to get to. And you may be thinking: a lot of those people don't buy tropical fruit. Perhaps. What about garlic? Artichokes? Organic bell peppers? No these aren't random bits of produce, it's the very specific things I personally witnessed as on the shelves and well past its prime. Between barely edible and flat out dangerous. What horrible human beings run this place? To add insult to injury, as I packed up my bags the checker said, 'hey thanks for your help!' He seemed like a nice guy so I didn't want to say, 'well no one is employed to do that so...'. It's leas of a favor if your other option is to sit and wait. But hey that $2.5B isn't going to earn itself! Do they deserve it?

Yelp
Fantastic healthy grocery choices here! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. And the environment is low key and more on the quiet side. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
The $5 sandwich here is genuinely a STEAL! For the price you pay, you get tons of food packed into your sandwich. Especially in San Diego, it's hard to find a deal with this much value. And for a buck extra, you can make it a combo with chips and water.

Matt B.

Yelp
This place is full of helpful employees! Genuinely friendly people work here. They actually go out of their way to help you find things and resolve issues. As a neighborhood resident, I've been coming here several times a week for 8+ years and have NEVER had a bad experience. From the dairy section through the meat counter all the way to checkout, EVERYONE is has ALWAYS been pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
I visited Sprouts to purchase ingredients for my pot roast. Ingredient list: 3 lbs beef 2 lbs carrots 1.5 lbs potatoes 1 lb yam 1lb tomatoes 2 tablespoons corn starch pinch of salt pinch of black pepper I cut up the beef and marinate with soy sauce and hoisin sauce the afternoon before cooking. My slow cooker heats stuff on the bottom much faster than what's on top so I cut up the carrots and put them in the slow cooker first on high heat for about an hour. Next I cut up the potatoes in the slow cooker. A half hour to an hour later I cut up the yam and add to the slow cooker. After an hour I take everything out then add the beef and chicken to the bottom. Veggies go back in on top and I set the heat to low. About 4 hours later I add a little salt and pepper, 2 tablespoons corn starch, plus cut up tomatoes. About a half hour later I unplug the slow cooker and serve. I don't like cooking everyday so I made enough to have leftovers for about 3 dinners. I used beef chuck roast but tri-tip works great too.

Yelp
It's always great when you find a store that Consistently provides great customer service and keeps everything well stocked and clean. The store at sprouts at UC really makes your shopping experience enjoyable!!!

Cristina V.

Yelp
This Sprouts is an amazing store, but what definitely makes it such a great store is their deli department. It has amazing customer service and their food is always fresh. Although the store is not in a very convenient spot for me, I always take the time to shop there only because their deli department has never let me down. If you have to shop for groceries, make sure it's at this Sprouts.
google avatar

Marissa M.

Yelp
I don't come here too often since it's a little bit further than Vons and a tad too healthy for me, lol, but I should probably embrace that concept. I came here on the way home to get raw chicken to cook up for my dog and see if they have canned pumpkin for dogs...and THEY DO!!! Wow! I love that! I picked some up and did self-checkout. Prices seem reasonable. Store is very clean and well stocked. Makes me feel good about myself and want to make better eating choices. :)

Alejandra E.

Yelp
Wow! The customer service at this store is amazing! The food is great, and I love coming to this sprouts because I feel so welcomed. Thank you for all your hard work!
google avatar

Yelp
Sprouts roses are absolutely awful, every time. Here's what happened when I unwrapped my present. I love Sprouts for other things, but their flower provider should be ashamed of themselves.
google avatar

Dean B.

Yelp
I came here because I'm fat right now and I thought buying food here would make me healthier and also make me look cool and trendy. I was right about some of those things... Anyway, food is fresh and it makes me feel wealthy to shop here.
google avatar

Norbert K.

Yelp
Not our usual Sprouts, but we stop here when we're visiting friends in University City. The store is smaller than the two Sprouts closer to us, but we're usually here for weekly specials. The store associates are friendly and helpful, and the produce is always fresh -- something I expect in a Sprouts. Parking is relatively easy, and certainly within a short walk from the outskirts.
google avatar

Rebekah T.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite grocery stores in San Diego, mostly for the low prices and good grocery selection. I can always find what we are looking for, as the aisles are easy to navigate. Things are a little different since COVID, such as no self serve at the bulk bins and increased cleaning and distancing. There is a great selection of fresh produce, excellent meat and seafood department and the store has a lot of healthy foods throughout the store. We love their beer and wine selection and how they always seem to have good brands at really decent prices. The people working here are nice and helpful when you are looking for something, they make the whole shopping experience easier so you can get in and out in time to make dinner. :)

Russell L.

Yelp
Great grocery store that's not whole paycheck. Plenty of healthful foods. Love to buy my bar soap there.

Richard B.

Yelp
Thanksgiving Turkey Breast Meal. Small, grey and overcooked.what you order and what you get don't compare!!
google avatar

Audra H.

Yelp
I've come here many times (surprised I haven't done this review yet, I thought I had)! I enjoy this store for several reasons: 1) bulk items-reasonably priced items where you don't have to buy a whole package if you only plan on using a little bit for one recipe. Love this!!! 2) availability of organic products--they have a variety of organic products available from fruits and vegetables to boxed goods. This is definitely a perk. 3) employees are friendly and helpful A couple of cons: 1) far from my house 2) prices can be steep on certain speciality items (Rao's pasta sauce, $8.99!!!) Overall, I enjoy the items they have here and I'll be back.

Yelp
This is one of the locations that was close to my old job so depending on which way I went home I would stop here if I was in need of something. I always get produce and meat from Sprouts and I always got good quality and could always find everything I needed and wanted. The staff was always friendly and I could get through the store easily. As seems to be the case with every sprouts, there is always a line to cash out and it doesn't seem they ever have the correct amount of cashiers but otherwise, a solid location to shop at.
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
Customer service, friendly, covid conscious and appreciate how they have a great return policy. Vegetables and fruits are a good selection but make sure to be picky when looking at the strawberries and blueberries as some are not as fresh.

Ikaika R.

Yelp
Great store, unfortunately it's in a rundown part of town and the shopping center. It's and looks like it'll probably be demolished in the next few years to make way for more modern facilities.

Yelp U.

Yelp
I mainly shop at Sprouts and their meat section is always fresh and good quality. Staff is very nice and the store is very clean
google avatar

Layla L.

Yelp
I love this place for cheap produce, without sacrificing quality. That being said it has 2 major drawbacks- their meat is terrible- every time I've bought raw chicken breast here it's been "woody" (look it up- it's when chicken grows too fast and their meat has a weird terrible texture like it's raw even when it's not ). Also, the employees here seem super unhappy and they're unfriendly. Always short staffed- so always lines and no one to bag your groceries- I guess that's why the price is cheap? If so, I'm ok with that.

Lindsey A.

Yelp
Update!! Went back into the location today and the woman who made my original sandwich recognized my name- from there, she acknowledged the mistake that was made, apologized and made sure to take care of me! Honestly pretty impressed with her. Most workers wouldn't bother owning up to that order, long after the fact. Thanks for being kind! :)

D S.

Yelp
This sprouts is nice usually, but extremely long lines at checkout usually. But my issue is many times in past, there is always one thing not fresh in your cart once you get home. I don't know if it is the store manager or upstairs that is lengthening shelf time to maximize profit in this inflationary time. But this is unacceptable. One day after I get home and slice the avocados open only 2 out of the bag where fresh, the other 5 or so were rotten , then our raspberry oranges had a couple rotten ones. This will be a last resort to shop at for me moving forward. Since they don't mind selling this stuff, they shouldn't mind the free advertising of it . I take it as a lazy operation, and unacceptable.

Yelp
I just have to make an official note of this. My daughter just bought herb seasoned eight piece baked chicken, brought it home, and it is pink. She already ate some of it before I noticed. Hopefully she doesn't develop an illness. I Called and spoke with Kimberly who said she would see what's going on.

Yelp
Sprouts Farmer's Market has been and continues to be one of my favorite markets to visit for my groceries and such. This store was nearby after I finished lunch so it was all about convenience knowing that they provide a good quality product. Avocados were on my list, so I was happy that they had some very good California grown and unripe ones for later use. They .99 each and were of good size too. They had organic seedless watermelon for only .69 per pound. They were the smaller versions which were great for someone like me who lives a lone. One of the things I love about Sprouts is that they carry small succulents and seasonal herbs and vegetables. I pickup up a small 4" mint herb for three dollars and some change. The store was well organized and Customer service was great, and I even had a few people ask if I needed any help.
google avatar

Abhay K.

Yelp
Reasonable and variety of produce, grocery and deli within the store. Offers organic produce as well. Service is great as if you are looking for specific product and it's not there the people working there always help you look for it and find it. Prices are reasonable compare to WhileFoods.

Michelle B.

Yelp
Horrible customer service!!!!! I asked the cashier for a manager when he told me that I couldn't use my gift card, which had funds on it. I asked him if he was a manager and he would respond. When I asked for a manager, he kept saying to me what does it matter and yelling at me to the point where I had to tell him to stop yelling at me and then finally a manager came over. Good help its hard to find. The cashiers don't even have basic customer service skills and the management does t care. Do t East your time coming here. You should treat your customer better, especially when they are the o e that out the money in your paycheck! If you can't handle having basic customer service skills, then don't be a cashier.
google avatar

Snowflake J.

Yelp
Sprouts is a fantastic place for certain things. They are boutique in some ways and have specialty items as well to not forget the fresh squeezed OJ and yes it's costly and delicious. Either bitch about prices or compromise and enjoy the store that caters to people maybe not all. But I'm that annoying person with food allergies and I can't have dairy so please be kind to those people who aren't gulping cows milk, etc to justify certain brands aren't carried there.
google avatar

B. P.

Yelp
This is my favorite Sprouts. I love the butchers! They are always super kind and helpful and ready to be of service. Someone is always around to help me when I need something from the back or if I have a question. The people in the vitamin section are fantastic, too. Always there to help me when I can't find the things I need.
google avatar

Jerry P.

Yelp
Great products but horrible customer service. I've walked out many times simply because of the 20+ people in line with only one cashier and he/she are also covering the self-checkout. Hire more cashiers!!!
google avatar

Dan L.

Yelp
Yesterday, I bought two roast beef sandwiches. The price has really gone up, and, where's the beef? Sprouts has really cut back on the sandwich filling. Another thing, the sushi is awful.
google avatar

Becky R.

Yelp
Normally I love sprouts but today I had a terrible cashier. Her name was Patty, and she was extremely rude. She told me to empty my handheld basket and I asked, genuinely wanting to know why but she repeated over my question of why over again 4 times louder and louder in a slow and demeaning manor - mocking me. This is terrible customer service! Also, why do we need to empty our baskets?! In Europe the cashier empties the basket and it's much faster. Also, the grocery bags for purchase were hanging over the area where the baskets were supposed to be placed, so it does not make sense for the customer to move merchandise in order to put the basket where you want it stored. The parking lot is always packed, and I think this sprouts is more expensive than others.
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
Gotta love Sprouts, they're like a poor mans Whole Foods. Any who after, ironically enough, leaving Whole Foods we came here to get a few more items. The parking lot is a bit crazy but nothing too terrible. The employees were nothing but nice to us and we even had to return an item which they did without question for my husband. They have some harder to find "healthy junk food" (LOL) at a half decent price so I'm okay with it. Their produce is always fresh in my opinion and you can't beat the value in the bulk bins. Although I've found their bulk spices are often stale. I've never purchased their cheeses or meat but they both look fresh, good quality, and not too expensive. They also have a nice selection of bread and baked goods; muffins the size of my head almost! This location is a bit out of my way, but if I was in the area more often I would for sure shop here.
google avatar

Brooke L.

Yelp
Got the shredded chicken and there were so many bones in the meat my sister almost choked. This will be the last time i shop here
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
Sprouts fills a great niche for people who want healthier food options without paying "Whole Paycheck" prices if you know what grocery store I'm talking about ;) I particularly like this location because it's conveniently located in a strip mall next to the post office with lots of parking. Also, the employees here are super friendly and helpful. On more than one occasion, when they run out certain products, they have offered me a more expensive product for the sale price. They'll just tell me to tell the cashier that so-and-so said I could have it for the sale price. That's it? I don't need a rain check or something? I've even had an employee hunt me down in the store when something I needed got stocked while I was shopping. This location has an olive bar and a nice cheese selection too. Look for the basket of small cuts of cheese to try new cheeses! They also have 2-3 coffees to choose from if you want to grab a cup of coffee for 99 cents while you shop. I also like their bulk spices for when you just want a pinch of something instead of buying a whole jar of it. Tip: If you want to save money on vitamins, wait for their 25% off vitamin extravaganzas which occur every 3 months.
google avatar

Karolynn D.

Yelp
Nice people, convenient location in University City, and decent prices. It's my first "go-to" option.
google avatar

Bradley M.

Yelp
This store DOES NOT enforce social distancing, for their customers or their employees. Other customers and employees were repeatedly walking and standing right next to me. No courtesy for people trying to follow the recommended guidelines.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
I've had multiple issues with ordering groceries - missing items and incomplete orders even when items are in stock. And when I call, no one answers the phone. When I go to the store, they ask why I didn't call?!?
google avatar

Mo M.

Yelp
This Sprouts is one of the best! They keep their fruits and vegetables section stocked very nicely! You will find all the healthy alternatives you need that includes gluten free. The freezer section has a nice variety of plant protein based food acauliflower based options,. I really like he said he felt and meat section where they have ready made packs available for easy lunch and dinner prep options. I have tried several of the packaged ready to cook meals and they were really very good! When it comes time to check out, most all of the registers are open keeping the flow quick and easy. There is a parking lot out front that is shared by many other businesses and always appears to be quite busy....but, I have always managed to find a spot to park.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is based on the service I recieved today. I arrived this morning to friendly employees. I am on crutches and needed some assistance shopping. Because of COVID-19, the employees were not able to help me shop. That being said, a young man came to my aide and helped me with a electric cart. It was my first time using this form of transportation but he was willing to give me a quick lesson. Once I completed my shopping, he then assisted me to my car. I was able to load my car and return to my crutches all while being safe. "Thank you" to this young man and Sprouts for having a "can do" and empathetic attitude. Please keep up the great work!
google avatar

Renee L.

Yelp
Deli- last month I ordered 15 Sandwiches for a meeting. The bread was stale and the sandwiches had nothing on them. It was pretty bad. Decided to give them another chance today and they told me that they would NOT take an order for 15 Sandwiches because that's catering. You have to be kidding me. They had their chance. Won't be ordering sandwiches with them anymore. Ever
google avatar

Mon L.

Yelp
This is my local Sprouts that I regularly shop at. Last week, I tried their one pan meal from the butcher shop and it was delicious! I cooked the shrimp scampi over the stove, and added spaghetti to it. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, and no chopping necessary. It's much better deal than online fresh ingredients pre-package meals.

Yelp
A little tidbit historical in this store presence in San Diego....The Sprouts market stores in San Diego used to be called Boney's and then Henry's ... from the Boney family stores. They were bought up by Sprouts a few years ago. The formula is fairly simple. They have nice fruits and vegetables sales every week with a double sales every Wednesday: you get sales on the items from the last week as well as the upcoming week. That s a very nice feature. Their health care section has a variety of homeopathic items, vitamins and smaller brand personal care products. It s refreshing to have another option from the big brands found at larger formats stores. The meat department is fairly easy to navigate with a nice mix of meat and sausages. The liquor section has a limited selection but covers craft beers and wines. There are no hard liquor. But you have plenty to choose from for personal needs or if you need to bring something to a dinner. Overall, the prices are competitive and the selection plenty. I really enjoy the format. It s like your neighborhood, friendly store and not a mega-giant Wal-Mart or Costco where people are always in a hurry and rude.

Diana G.

Yelp
Best customer service ever the asile are well organized, it makes your shopping experience easier. Also there is a double add Wednesday Sale. Best shopping experience ever.
google avatar

Ros A.

Yelp
Sprouts isn't as close to me as Vons or Ralphs is, but I prefer buying produce here when I can't make it to a local farmers market. For organic produce Sprouts costs more, but has better quality. Even though prices are a little more, there are often items on sale and every now and then are buy one get one free. Natural bath products and skin care aren't the cheapest here. I have found better prices elsewhere. Vitamins go on sale, so these are often a good buy. One of the things I like about Sprouts is their bins of bulk items. When I experiment with recipes, I hate buying a package of something I may not use. The bulk foods makes it great for buying small quantities of items. This is extra helpful for spices. Although spices can last for awhile, sometimes I don't want a large amount of something I won't be using often. Came here to buy veggies for juicing and fortunately organic kale and cucumbers were on sale! There are always people working around, restocking items. A couple workers did ask if I needed help finding anything. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Overall great place to shop!!
google avatar

Danae B.

Yelp
I was trying to find some chicken nuggets and Nate asked me if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and I said that it looked like they were all gone. Nate dug through all the bags of chicken and found one last bag of chicken nuggets for me. He was so friendly and made me feel like he was happy to help, which is rare nowadays! Great customer service

Yelp
Splurging at Sprouts! Sprouts is my go to for vitamins and other goodies.. I came today for some vitamins and coindentally didn't even realize the vitamin sale was going on with the "fuel your body" campaign so it was a sweet surprise bonus getting 25% off at the checkout . :) Sprouts has my favorite items such as sweet molasses bread, kefir, seasonal produce.. fruits and veggies, vitamins, snacks, dips, sandwiches, kombucha, protein, etc.. The items can be a bit expensive, but worth the cost with the wide, awesome selection. This location in UTC/La Jolla area is near the 52 freeway. The staff here are all nice, and the store is pretty clean. TIP: Try the delicious sandwiches!
