Spud Bros Express - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"Spud Bros Express is a small pop-up shop in Soho that’s all about jacket potatoes. The queue, which can skirt down the street during the lunch rush hour, moves fast thanks to the speedy servers dousing the fluffy insides of potatoes with garlic butter before messily scooping on beans or smoky chilli con carne (we prefer the classic beans). You’ll find everyone from people in suits trying to spice up their desk lunch, to friends who’ve been drooling over the Preston brothers’ TikTok account for months in the queue. The jacket potatoes are good without being amazing. There are a few topping combinations to choose from, but we’d skip those (the signature ‘tram’ mayo sauce makes everything too sweet) and go for the garlic butter with classic cheese and beans. It’s comforting and incredibly filling—although we wish there was more mature, sharper-tasting cheddar in their three cheese mix. It’s takeaway-only, which is impractical for something like a jacket potato in our opinion, so if you haven’t got an office to take it back to, you’ll have to find somewhere nearby to perch—if the weather’s nice it’s worth walking to Golden Square to find a bench." - Rianne Shlebak

Fun visit to this social media famous eatery in person. Cute hole-in-the-wall livened up with red decor and yellow lettering. Simple, straightforward menu features just a few specials, so ordering is a breeze. "One potato" is really a potato and a half and an entrees can easily feed two. Staff was friendly and engaging. Not much dining space, but there's a disco ball!

Made a visit all the way from South Africa. Unfortunately the social media hype did not meet my expectations. I had the tram classic while my sister had the cheese, beans and chewna combo. The salt, pepper and garlic butter taste did not come through for both dishes, the baked beans tasted like it had just been heated straight out of a can, it was just bland for me. On the better side, the potato was crispy on the outside and the tuna mayo was delicious! It was a rainy day and we also just made it for a seat inside, not sure where we would have eaten our spud if we were not lucky enough to get seats.

great food id recommend. my friend got the spudfather and i got the garlic chilli chicken and both were nice. we did find a seat which was crazy bc had we come 5mins later, we would have no space to even stand. its very small and lacks seating theres like two high tables with bar chairs so unless ur insanely lucky always assume u have to take away or just come at non peak times. everything else was great including service and its halal.

9 months of wait, 20 minutes of fulfilment. I’ve been watching spudbros on Youtube shorts for the past 9 months, waiting for the day to try them. I was fortunate enough to visit London this immediately popped in my mind. Went to queue for them at 1020am because i saw the queues on Youtube. To my surprise, i was the first one there! Went in and ordered the spudfather + coleslaw and asked for extra crispy onions because i love onions. The lady at the counter was kind enough to give me extra scoops of crispy onions. When i reached for my wallet to pay, the kind lady told me the spud was free because I was the first customer of the day. I was so overjoyed, it felt like I was a kid experiencing Disney for the first time, except this time it was free! Thanks spudbros for making this experience magical. Hope to visit the iconic truck one day! Food was obviously delicious, and the fact that it was free made it 11/10. Even if I had paid for it, I would say its worth it considering the price of food in London. Stomach is happy, brain is happy. Keep rocking spudbros!

Spud Bros Express Listen… I’ve been waiting almost 2 years to try this famous Spud Bros Express potato. TWO. YEARS. At this point, I had built it up in my head like it was the Adele of potatoes. And guess what? IT ACTUALLY WAS. I ordered mine with garlic butter, cheese, beans and tram sauce, and when I took the first bite my soul literally left my body, did a lap around the restaurant and came back whispering “get another one”. The potato was so good I almost proposed to it. Like… creamy, cheesy, buttery therapy in food form. If my stomach wasn’t dramatic, I swear I’d eat 3 of them back to back. But the portion is MASSIVE it’s basically a meal, a nap, and a personality trait all in one. If you’re a potato lover, RUN. This thing will change your life. 🥔🔥🤣 11/10, would happily ruin my diet again.

Love a good jacket potatoes with a twist! One portion is enough for two people to share. Food comes in hot and really delicious! Staffs are friendly too. Not enough seating and can get really busy

SpudBros serve a variety of potatoes with the option to customise toppings. The service was quick, the potatoes were very tasty and the staff were engaging and really friendly. The garlic chilli chicken with garlic butter and cheese with crispy onions was an excellent lunch, very filling and good value for money. If you are in the area I would recommend this place for a quick meal.

I don't often go for hyped restaurants because as they say you should never meet your hero's and often it never turns out as good as the hype. I am pleased to say though spud brothers was exactly as the various YouTube videos showed and I had anexcellent lunch with a tradie colleague. We visited at a lunch time near soho and it was quite busy. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we both opted for a Chewna jacket with Tram sauce (a spicy mayo). As you can see not a drop was left. If your looking for a hot, tasty and warming lunch this winter then spud bros express definitely worth a trip.
