Spunk Dunkers Donuts’ Social Media Post Goes Viral, Brings in $10,000 | Eater Chicago

"This Palatine bakery faced an unusually slow Paczki Day when bad weather and pandemic concerns kept customers away, leaving the owner, Jan Daczewitz, and staff with too many paczki ingredients and too few buyers. Employees posted a heartfelt plea on Facebook — “So, real talk. We need your help” — which was shared more than 1,400 times and spurred a groundswell of community support: long lines formed, roughly 10,000 baked goods were sold in about 72 hours, and the shop even ran out of basic supplies. Daczewitz said she was overwhelmed by the response, an episode that underscores how COVID-19 has threatened small food businesses and how social media can quickly mobilize local customers." - Naomi Waxman

I highly appreciate the quality of the cakes, donuts, and specialty items offered by this establishment. Their peanut butter and jelly doughnut, as well as their seasonal selections, are particularly noteworthy. The wide variety of delicious donuts available is truly impressive. Each creation is crafted with care, resulting in flavors that are both innovative and comforting. Additionally, the presentation of each item is visually appealing, making them almost too beautiful to eat. The staff is always friendly and eager to provide recommendations, enhancing the overall experience. It's clear that this bakery takes pride in its offerings, making it a must-visit for dessert lovers.

Spunky Dunkers Delight Pulled off the road for gas, just a pit stop in the night, Across the street a glowing sign—donuts, 24-hour delight. Nine treats for seventeen and change, what a sweet surprise, I watched the baker shaping dough, fresh magic before my eyes. At nine o’clock, the fryer hummed, still working late and true, Each bite was crisp yet tender, with no oily film to rue. I meant to snap a picture first, but taste got in the way, Half the box was gone before my phone could have its say. The blueberry stuffed with cream cheese—my favorite by far, A hidden burst of tangy sweet, a shining donut star. Every ring was fried just right, golden, airy, light, Spunky Dunkers, what a find, a highway gem at night.

Wow. Very impressed. 10000x better than Dunkin’. Just a classic, perfect, fluffy donut. There should be 10 of these throughout Chicago. Cinnamon roll was giant and great.

In thursday , november 6th., 2025 I went to spunky dunkers with my daughter and her fiance to get some donuts. I used to live in the area, and I used to go there all the time, but it's been almost a year and a half since I went there. It's a nice place but it's very expensive for donuts. That's probably why I remember that I didn't go there very many times cause, it's just too pricey. Don't get me wrong the donuts are good but for the price, to me, It's not something I would do on a regular basis even if I still lived there.

We stopped at Spunky Dunkers on our Palatine dessert tour and really liked it. The donuts were fresh and tasty, especially the glazed ones. The coffee was good too. The place has that old school donut shop feel and the people working there were friendly. A couple donuts could’ve used more filling, but overall it was a good stop. We’d give Spunky Dunkers four stars for being simple, fresh, and just nice all around.

As far as I am aware, these guys have the best donuts on Earth. Never in my life have I eaten a better donut. The donut is a beautiful thing. I'm in Colorado right now thinking about them. They make a fine cup of coffee too.

I grew up going to spunky dunkers, and while the staff has changed over the years, and the prices have gone up a bit, it is still the best donut shop. They continue to bring in a huge crowd, serve a variety of amazing donuts, and have some of the best black coffee you could ask for. Highly recommended!
