On the Grid : Spyhouse

"Spyhouse on Nicollet has a clean aesthetic, with dark wood, black concrete counters, and white walls. The space has nooks and crannies where you can share an intimate conversation over a great cappuccino, or a iced latte underneath one of their patio umbrellas. The staff are pros and you'll always get the perfect cup. Spyhouse also roasts their own coffee here in Minneapolis, so you'll be enjoying several layers of craftsmanship and care in your cup. Their Nicollet Avenue location is one of their few shops that has local artwork hanging -- often showcasing contemporary local artists. In the warm months, the patio is bustling with conversation and you can mingle outside on the walk with the local sparrows. Their iced lattes are incredibly refreshing, even in the midst of our frigid Minnesota winters." - Light Grey Art Lab

Stopped here twice while on vacation and liked it both times. Their almond croissant was really great, and coffee was really well made both times. Sadly learned after the fact that this business masquerades as a local business, but is owned by private-equity :( had to take off a star for the dishonesty, but the staff, coffee, and baked goods were great.

A must visit coffee shop. Really enjoyed the vibe. ✔️ Unique drinks and branding ☕️ ✔️ The Spygirl Latte was YUMMY - lavender and honey. You must try this if you’re a fan of floral drinks and in for a treat. ✔️ Big space with tons of seating and strong WiFi ✔️ Cute merch ✔️ Baked goods were YUMMY - try the flan croissant

Spyhouse = darn good coffee Spyhouse = good place to hang out. As a “local chain” Spyhouse has done a good job with their buildings, locations, and most importantly their coffee. They have chosen well and all of their locations end up being welcoming coffee shops and they have replicated the quality of their coffee as well. Good coffee here, parking is on the street and you may have to walk a little. Tasty treats, plenty of sitting space, outdoor seating in the summer. 👍

Stopped in while visiting some friends. I ordered a cortado and an iced vanilla chai and WOW. The cortado is delicious (great beans and not burnt) and the chai is equally impressive. If a coffee shop offers chai, it better be damn good and this one delivers!

This will always remain as one of my favorite downtown coffee shops. Great drinks. Great service. Equally good to chat with friends or do work at. Street parking is typically available and free. The neighborhood has changed over the past few years, but it doesn't cause me to pause in recommending this gem of a coffee shop.

I enjoy Spyhouse cafes, and this one didn’t disappoint. I enjoy the overall layout of seating, almost surrounding the coffee bar as the center. A good spot to study, but keep in mind it’s generally busy.

Favorite coffee shop in the Twin Cities. Each location is unique to where it matches the vibes of the neighborhood that it resides in. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is on point. I have had some troubles with the wifi lately but it's not enough to make me look else where. I have lived in a couple other cities in the US and I always think, "I wish they had a Spyhouse here".

Owned by private equity. Go somewhere that helps the community. Plenty of amazing local coffee shops that put your money back into Minneapolis.
