We sat down right away.. waited close to 10 minutes to see a waiter for any interaction. Food overall was good but would not get the Ahi Tuna avocado eggs rolls again. A lot of breading and pockets of hot grease. Stick to the straight sesame seared tuna. Photos do justice to show the differences. Thanks for hosting lovely night. Key lime pie was above average for the majority of the keys

I wish I could remember the name of our waitress, but she was very knowledgeable and helpful with true answers. Food came out quickly and hot or cold respectively. Only one complaint was the bacon wrapped BBQ shrimp - we only received 3 shrimp for the over $20 price. We were a party of 7 so I didn't want to split it that tiny. However everything else was absolutely worth the money! I wouldn't let the one thing discourage you from going there! I had the appetizer of seared tuna and the stew for dinner and I actually took the stew home and had another nights dinner.

Dinner here was excellent. We had the Flash Fried Conch with Ponzu and Wasabi drizzle, and that was on point. It had a very good taste, it was crispy and the drizzle added a touch of flare. My friend had the Seared Sesame Encrusted Tuna. It was cooked perfectly, melted in your mouth. I had the Asian Marinated Skirt Steak with Jasmine Rice and Wonton Crisps. The asian sauce was delicious, and the steak was also cooked perfectly. We got Key Lime pies to go, but didn't get a picture. They were tangy and good also. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. We did have to wait to be seated, the place was packed, but it was well worth the wait in my opinion.

I brought my super smoking hot gf along with me and dined in for dinner. Gabby took care of us and she did a very nice job. We had the grouper sandwich and the steak salad. I thought the steak was well seasoned and cooked to a proper medium rare. My grouper was delicious and I got it blackened. All in all it was a good dinner and I’d recommend trying this spot out. And gabby is great cause a drunk obnoxious guy got seated in her area and she got him straightened out right quick.

Stopped in here around 7 pm on a Thursday. Come hungry. Seated right away. Great ambience. Place was busy. Service was amazing as was the food. We have been in the area for a month and this is the best meal hands down. Try the grouper platter and the shrimp platter. We also had fried mozzarella and Mexican street corn dip with chips. All was great. The brownie was great as well.

Delightful local joint 😉😁 Very lucky to rent a house in this neighborhood! Great deals on lunches as well. Love the seafood stew.

Had "linner" here today. Glad we stopped. Jen, our server, was beyond fabulous & should train other servers & get a raise! The atmosphere was nicer than we expected & the food was delicious. Hubby had the square grouper sandwich & I had the shrimp burger. Both were very good & the shrimp burger had a nice spice kick. Their food presentations were very nice, even the peanut butter pie slice was presented nicely. We noticed there were alot of "regulars" dining that the staff knew, always a good sign. Would go back in the future.

The moment you walk in the door, you know this is going to be good food. Server was very friendly and efficient. I've had grouper all over the state as a Florida native. This was easily one of the top 3. The bun was fresh and the onion strings well. All house made. The key lime tartar I could drink, it was so good, but the sandwich didn't even need it. Which is why they give it you on the side. I got it blackened but they said they can do it amy way you'd like. I'll go out of my way to come back for this grouper.

Simply beautiful inside very elegant in the menu is fabulous... We tried the Ahi tuna salad and we tried the seared scallop salad with cashews. It was fabulous. Service was great and so is the key line. Highly recommend this place. Don't let all the funny drug references turn you off. It's pretty classy inside very nice.

I noticed this restaurant while crossing over Cudjoe Key on our way down to Key West - I had no idea when we'd be returning to our campground on Grassy Key or if we've grab a bite to eat before departing Key West, well as luck would have it we decided to wait and give the Square Grouper Bar and Grill a try. Once we arrived I noticed the daily special was "meatloaf" no no no way was I choosing this no matter how delicious it could be - without seeing a menu I had already decided I was eating grouper and probably blackened whether that would be served on a bun or a plate. We walked in and wow it was not what we expected by the look of the exterior, this place is beautiful and somewhat classy inside and I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the outside but the inside will blow you away. We were seated without a wait and greeted by Jenny who is definitely the face of this business today. She is so attentive and explains everything so if you have a question ask, she not only knows the menu she knows the dishes - we both ordered blackened grouper sandwiches with fries and coleslaw with their homemade tartar sauce on the side. I wanted unsweetened ice tea and she informed me their tea is passion tea so I decided on a Dr.Pepper which she served already poured in a glass of ice after asking if that was okay. The food was absolutely delicious the fish was cooked perfectly served on a nice bun with thin crispy onion rings piled on top of the fish - I ate these as a side, they are so good as are the unique fries and the tartar sauce is to die for. The service is beyond outstanding and the prices are reasonable and a great value, I did peek at a few other dishes from the kitchen and they all looked equally delicious, I don't think you can make a bad choice here - after one bite of the grouper I was convinced if it's on the menu or special board you're in for a real treat - including the meatloaf...

I've been trying to stop and eat here since 2021, I always missed when they were open! I finally got the chance right before new years to stop as I was heading out of key west. I sat at the bar, the bartender was friendly made some recommendations and of course I got the grouper sandwich, sautéed. He recommend fried as his fav way to have it but sautéed was second best. I was in and out in about 30-45 mins, it was starting to get busy, so I hit it at the right time. It's nicer on the inside then I expected and I'd for sure make a point to stop Again.

They had Wahoo which is one of my favorite fish to order. I wish I had ordered it grilled (well, I did), then I changed it to fried. It was still very good, but a little on the crispy side. My husband had the conch chowder, very spicy, but very delicious. He also had the fish dip, which was very good. Service was quick. We were traveling to Key West and finally got to the restaurant at 2:23pm. The host said we had to order quickly as the kitchen was closing at 2:30 in order to prepare for dinner. The fish tank was a nice addition to the feel of authenticity that is was mainly a seafood restaurant. We enjoyed it very much. The key lime tartar sauce is a nice addition to any fish.

Wowza! What can I say? The square grouper was excellent! The food was so fresh and delicious like it just came out of the ocean! The service and drinks were excellent!

After a four hour drive from Boca towards key west, we were looking for an interesting roadside seafood joint to hit for dinner before getting to key west. Reviews guided us here and it did not disappoint. After about a 30 minute wait, we enjoyed the fried mozzarella appetizer, dinner salads, fish of the day (mahi, grouper) and fish stew. I had the small fish stew portion and it was plenty, so the larger size can feed 2 people - plus the red curry sauce was delicious. It's a good stop on your way to key west.

On our way to Key West we stopped for lunch at Square Grouper. Their restaurant in Islamorada was closed on Tuesdays so we visited the Cudjoe key location. The restaurant was busy at the lunch hour yet the place was clean and service was attentive. A specials chalk board showed the fresh daily fish available. Mahi and Tile fish were available on our visit. My brother had fish tacos with grilled Mahi. Two nice sized tacos came with fries or a side salad. He said the tacos were great. I had a salad with blacked Mahi added on top. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. Fresh fish tastes so good! This place serves really fresh seafood. My nephew ordered a chicken sandwich. He never varies from chicken. Even in a great seafood town like here. He said it was so much better than the chicken he had on South Beach. Square Grouper is a wonderful restaurant with really fresh fish. Even the chicken expert thought the place was the best!

While a large group of my family and friends were visiting the Florida Keys for a week, we enjoyed the Square Grouper so much we went twice! It may have had something to do with being the closest restaurant to our VRBO. It was also very easy to get on the waitlist online before even showing up to the restaurant. They were quite adept at handling our large party of 9 during both visits. With the majority of the group being older, we preferred when we were seated in the dining room as opposed to when we were in the bar area. The bar area was much louder, so it wasn't as easy for everyone to converse and enjoy each other's company. However, the food was so good it didn't bother us that much. Our group was a big fan of the Square Grouper Seafood Stew so much so that some of our group ordered it both times that we came to the restaurant! It was delightfully creamy with just the right amount of kick. It comes in two sizes, but the small was the perfect portion for one person especially when we supplemented with a few appetizers. For appetizers we enjoyed the flash fried conch and the fried calamari. Both were deliciously light and crispy in their own regard, but the ponzu and wasabi drizzle on the conch was so tasty it had one of our group literally licking the plate. On the second visit I ordered the pasta bowl with spaghetti squash and local fish. In the description it mentioned a pesto sauce, but I was a little disappointed it didn't come across as flavorful as I would have liked. If you have a large group on Cudjoe Key, look no further than the Square Grouper for your dining needs!

Wow didn't expect it to be so busy on a Thursday at 5:15 but then we found out why ! We went upstairs to the lounge and hit happy hour , 5 dollar stone crab claws and 20% off all cocktails ... the key west old fashioned with Papa pillar rum instead of bourbon was a hit and my wife's cosmo was perfect , we added 6 claws which had a claw cracker and picking fork added ( nice touch) as well as soft shell crab sliders , yum , we will be back !!

Wow, just wow. Everything about this place was top notch. Had diner 1/9 on our way out of Key West and I'll tell it was totally amazing. Started with Coconut Shrimp & Flash Fried Conch in ponzu with wasabi drizzle. Totally jaw dropping. For entree we have fried shrimp dinner, almond crusted grouper & Asian marinated skirt steak. Wow, what flavors. Just incredible.

Went to this restaurant in Islamorada for dinner and loved it so much.- we had to try this location on our way to the Key West airport! We didn't order much, but started with the tuna appetizer which was sooo good. Loved the peanut sauce it was in and was just enough to give it good flavor! My husband and I split the Philly cheesesteak after seeing online recommendations and it didn't disappoint! Was so tender and fresh!! My daughter ordered the blackened chicken kid's meal and the chicken was incredibly tender. Can't wait to go back next time we are in town!

The staff was friendly and helpful. I got the fish special - blackened golden tilefish - which came on a bed of pasta with crab sauce. My husband got the Blue Plate Special, whjch was a Philly cheesesteak. Not surprisingly, the golden tilefish was amazing. The crab sauce on the pasta added some butteriness to the perfectly seasoned fish. The meal also came with their house salad. I always appreciate when blue cheese is "on the house," so it was great to see their offering was not your standard ranch with tomatoes and carrots. The salad was very light and refreshing. My husband's Philly was also very tasty. The cheese was melty and satisfying, and the caramelized onions were fantastic.

Absolute amazing find along the 1. Everything from the music, atmosphere, service, and food were fantastic. We stopped for lunch at maybe 12:15, and were full and ready to cash out by 12:45. Not rushed at all, just fast service and great food!! Jenny was super sweet and very friendly! Definitely recommend stopping here.

They do not have many vegan options. Was hopeful as my friends said they saw vegan options last time they were by but their menu changed often. Enjoyed a very fresh salad and virgin Moscow mule. Service was great. Wish they had more vegan options.

Food is tasty and portions are plentiful. The restaurant is clean snd nicely decorated. The service was very good and quick. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth a visit

Kept passing by this place and finally decided to swing in for lunch. It was fantastic. We had swordfish special, grilled with banana pepper compound butter, chicken wild rice soup and house salad. Loved it so much we came back next day for dinner. We had a little wait so went upstairs to another bar in the same building. Well hidden but worth a visit. These guys know what they're doing with crafting cocktails. Beautiful space as well. Back down to dinner and I would have given 5 stars except for one of the signature dishes fell short. The Asian inspired skirt steak was far too sweet. Will definitely be back though, especially to the upstairs bar!

The food iz amazing and i cant find fault with the sevice ! If you go upstairs to My New Joint you will find the bartenders sre the nicestvand most accomedating ever ! The best!

Leaving Key West and wanted to grab a bite. Pulled into here and it was an unexpected gem! Had the Fish of the Day sandwich and house salad. Food was absolutely delicious! Service was very friendly and attentive. Don't pass this place up!

Waitress Hailey was great and very informative. Our lunch (Buffalo Shrimp PoBoy and a cheese Steak) was delicious and prices were reasonable. Everything is made in house and you can taste it I would definitely recommend and return!

Our fishing guide highly recommended the Square Grouper Bar and Grill for date nights while staying in Little Torch. We visited the bar upstairs for a pre dinner drink, I will say the bartenders here are artists! Our drinks were phenomenal and they make the different infused simple syrups in house, which is pretty cool. We then moved downstairs for dinner and we're blown away with the food. I ordered the pasta with blackened shrimp and my husband got the grouper. Both were delicious! They had a banana bread bread pudding on special this evening, it was so yummy! We will be back on our next visit for sure!

The food was really good and the portions are big. We had the almond crusted grouper and it was delicious. We also had the tuna / avocado spring roll. Not an item I'd order again. It had no avocado that I saw and had only a regular spring roll flavor. Not good with fish. Sorry. The Ceasar salad was nothing much but the lettuce was very fresh. Our guest had the skirt steak and they both loved it. For dessert we all had the brownie with ice cream and I'll tell you what. It was enormous and fantastic. The service is why it's getting a low star rating. It was latter at night but the server was rushing us and then never showed up again. So we sat for awhile before we could cash out. The place inside and out looked super cool and modern. It has been one of the cleanest restaurants I've eaten at here in the lower keys. Nice good. I will come back to see if the service was a one time miss.

We were leaving Key West for a two night excursion in Big Pine Key. Decided to stop here for lunch when we got about half way. Very glad we did. The salad was good (4 stars) the grouper sandwich was amazing (5) and the Key Lime pie was authentic and off the charts. Key Lime pie the way it was meant to be. They have a full dinner menu too if you're in the mood for that. Tempting as it all sounded great, but then it would have been time to take a nap, and we needed to get back on the road. Service was top notch, and the restaurant was large with a nice Florida vibe. A place has to be pretty awesome to make it on my personal Yelp list, and this one did.

The fried conch appetizer here surpassed any of the other places I tried during my trip to the Keys. The sauce was so good that I saved it to dip my fries in!! One of our guests ordered the conch steak platter and it was equally delicious. The grouper sandwich was tasty and the Caesar salad was the bomb -- their homemade dressing is the best! Entree salads and other dishes ordered by our group were also a hit. Don't forget to share the salted caramel brownie for dessert. Plus they have some really clever t-shirts for sale!

Our meal was delicious we both had the Wahoo. Service was spot on. We had eaten here in the past so we knew there was a good chance of a wait. We arrived 15 minutes before the opening. There were 20 something people already there. But we got seated quickly. The server was great and the food came out quickly. One thing does need improvement, parking, or lack of parking but that's Keys for you. But go and enjoy some of the best food in Florida.

This joint hits hard !! From the first hit to the last it's smooth and casual. If you can find a better spot hit it.

Worst place we've ate at in Key West. Decided to come here for my bday and wished we didn't. Our waiter was great but the food was such a disappointment. After reading other reviews too after coming here you would think they would take their 20$ 3 piece bacon-wrapped shrimp plate off the menu as we weren't the only ones disappointed when it came out. I had fried calamari, it was okay nothing special as nothing else really appealed to me on their menu we should've walked out then and there. The portions were pathetic for the prices. For dessert, a dollop of whipped cream with sprinkles which wouldve been cute if I was 5 years old but I'm 33. Our experience was just sad.

Service was weird. There were 4 of us. We all ordered different items. They were served one at a time over a 12 minute time frame. Management says this is the was they do it. One person was 1/2 done when the last. Strange! Food was just ok. Won't be back.

Beautiful restaurant. Excellent service. Yellowfin Snapper was absolutely delicious! Best fish we had in the Keys. And the carrot cake with mango ice cream was incredible.

We stop at the place on the way to the keys . I never thought I say this but I am actually getting tried of seafood . We been here 7 days and it's lobster shrimp calamari almost every day. So I saw patty melt on the menu and jump on it the melt was great never had one with a thick patty most patty I had it's a thinner patty anyway it's was really good . My partner ordered a chicken blue plate special it spicy but good it not a great place but it's a good place and a nice stop on the way to the keys

Lunch with friends. Virtually no wait. Apps: flash fried conch was excellent (10 of 10). Fish spread decent (7.5). Entrees: blackened fish sandwich, a little small and not a lot spice but still very good (9.0). Mixed salad with grilled chicken was again excellent (9.5). Shaved ribeye panini with grilled red onions and bbq sauce (10). Service read our table, knowing we were not a big hurry perfectly. No bad comments!

Still a fabulous place, even better than the last time I was here. The entire staff was spot on. Was served our dinner so quickly. The food was REALLY good: fish dip, grouper sandwich,black grouper plate and key lime pie. They pay close attention to minute details. Our server was so accommodating. Be back again soon.

Best restaurant in key west FL. Great service, menu, and decor. Not inexpensive but worth the price. All that is needed is a happy hour.

Service was great. Restaurant was clean and had a very fun vibe. The menu had a great variety. We both ordered the Asian salad, one with seared tuna and one with grouper, good size servings. The dessert looked amazing but we were full. I would come back here every time I'm in the keys!

I've been coming here for many years but haven't been able to come for a while. It was worth the wait and all that I remembered. The seafood stew is so creamy and acidic which brightens the freshness of the seafood, a perfect balance hard to describe and impossible to recreate, so far. The smoked fish dip with crispy crackers, chopped jalapeño and tomato is on point. The fish and rice bowl with an Asian flair was fresh and delicious. Best restaraunt on Islamorada. Cool location, excellent food and service. And the merchandise is awesome. We go a few times on every trip down.

Food was amazing but if you are like me and food and service go hand in hand then this is a one star. The food was absolutely amazing but we were treated with such disdain and disrespect it's hard to get say it was a great experience. I truly wish you would hire people that love your food and we would return n an instant! Dive prices can over look bad service but you charge prices that warrant good service.

Wow wow wow! This place is a hidden gem. When you see if from outside you wouldn't expect it to be as incredible as it it but don't judge a boom by its cover. Incredible seafood! Super fresh, caught that morning. Great cocktail options as well as beer and wine. Ambiance is top notch. Tropical island vibes on a casual yet upscale level. Our server was so sweet! She made suggests based on our preferences and clearer explained each dish. This isn't your typical beachside restaurant. The cuisine is a fun twist on traditional seafood dishes. An ABSOLUTE must if you're in the area. ***make sure to read the menu story of the square grouper***

This place was recommended by serval folks and we were not disappointed at all. The environment was relaxed and d services was good. It's a very busy place to grab lunch or dinner, so be prepared to wait. We went on line ahead and added ourselves to the waitlist from home. We still had to wait but like 5-10 min.. not too long. Food was good. We all had fresh fish plates. We will come back.

Never disappoints. Order anything and be pleased. Last night we ordered tuna avocado egg roll. Patty melt and grouper sandwich were delicious!!!

I had the grouper pasta bowl. It was wonderful. The shrimp pasta bowl is definitely my favorite. We also had the egg rolls as an appetizer. The dipping sauce is so perfect with it. The wait staff were very accommodating and helpful. Had a great dirty martini too. Highly recommend. Will be back!

First let me say Square Grouper ISLAMORADA is SPECTACULAR. Therefore I decided to try out this location and carried the same expectations. Restaurant from the outside looks a little more rundown. I walk in sit down and I am offered no warm bread like other locations. Also the menu was not 100% the same ex: pulled pork mac & cheese instead of lobster mac & cheese. The ambiance was totally different, dim lighting , jazz music, waterfront view WAS NOT the vibe in Cudjoe Key location. It was brown paper table cloth and unseasoned fish. I got mahi and the fried grouper. Got the Grouper before in ISLAMORADA , best I've ever had. Not enough tartar sauce could've saved this fish. Portion sizes were not the same over. Experience at the Cudjoe Key Location 5.5/10 /:
