Square One at the Boathouse - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Remember - you went to college in LA for a reason. To see it. So, get out of the campus bubble and head to Echo Park. The Eastside neighborhood is filled with great stuff these days, but nothing beats an afternoon lounging at Square One at the Echo Park lagoon. This second location of one of LA’s best brunch spots sits right at the water’s edge - ideal for hopping in a paddle boat afterwards and burning off some calories. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

If you're in the park and don't want a hot dog or street corner from the street vendors, then this is the perfect respite. The food here is delicious and the coffee outstanding, personally like the cold brew. It's a very laid back spot and a good spot to just people watch.

If you are at Echo Park Lake, you are there for the ambience, since its triumphant resurrection. Square One hits the mark nicely when you need something cold to drink on a hot day, or even a nosh session. The setting plays the strength here, and a coffee and pastry along the lakeside on a sunny AM is a great little escape as you people watch or even while diving into a good read. Knowing you can get a good snack with an even better surrounding is what hits home here.

Conveniently located at the lake's edge, Square One is where you begin your visit to Echo Park. Get your caffeine fix before taking a stroll around the lake and admire the city and wildlife meshed into one seamless postcard. Their coffee is too acidic for my taste but their service is fantastic.

Rented a pedal boat here. The place is super small and the price per person is $10 per hour. Regardless of how many people in the boat. It is a bit expense for what it is, but the lake is beautiful and there is a nice fountain in the middle.

This is a very solid spot, traditionally a breakfast/brunch type place but now open later. Coffee is first rate. I recommend the breakfast sandwich on brioche. Often busy on weekends so be patient. Seating is all outdoor.

Vegan Options: • Potato Taquitos (delicious) • Sweet Potato Fries (get the homemade mustard) • No Vegan Breakfast Options • Amazing Almond Milk made in-house! Got the Latte and Chai Tea and both were yummy!

Delicious food (despite vegan pastries.) The brioche French toast was very soft, buttery and delicious, so we're the grits and bacon (not vegan obviously.)

A bit disappointed by the coffee and croissants. The price is on the high side and the quality on the low side. The location is great, especially if you have a dog that needs a walking...
