There are plenty of open seats for a Saturday. We ordered the tuna melt, Angus Burger, Mac & Cheese, and scramble eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Portions were fairly larger. The burger had a nice charred flavor, a very thick patty. Perfect amount of food for me. Fries were crispy yet soft on the inside. The Mac & Cheese has choppy green onions with it.

We decided to give this brunch place a try since it’s few blocks from our place and we had a great experience here. My husband ordered breakfast burritos and I got Italian crepe which is savory crepe with Italian sausages with generous amount of cheeses and veggies. I really love their dishes were healthy and not overly salty which is the case for many restaurants. Mine was full of flavors and portion was so large that I took the leftover to go to have it next day . My kid got chicken tenders and they were delicious. I am so glad that I’ve found a great brunch place in west Portal and can’t wait to try some sweet crepes next time !

Came for breakfast/brunch. Greta location right outside the muni station. Was easily able to get a table and staff was friendly enough. You order at the counter and seat yourself. Good variety of offerings. Iced tea was good and food was decent. Worth a look if your in the area.

My daughter had the chicken parm and liked the chicken. She thought the marinara sauce was too acidic (although, she was expecting more of an Italian style sauce, and it just was more of an American style). I had the French onion soup and traditional sliders. French onion soup was too salty (1 out of 5). The slider patties were very small relative to the slider buns. Patties were way overcooked. Dry, dry, dry. Ambiance is fine — typical for this style of casual cafe restaurant. Service is poor — Servers never checked back in after dropping off the food. They do not offer any follow-ups.

Had the Angus Chuck Burger w/fries. Food wasn’t the best, kind of bland. A little expensive considering what you get. Otherwise, we had a good time. Clean eating area and service was great!

Google
Loved the potatoes with rosemary. Portion was good. Food was tasty and light. Just lacked some uniqueness compared to other brunch restaurants.

Google
Great portions, great flavor. This was a great food options. We stopped in for breakfast. This place is close enough to San Bruno to make the trip worthwhile. We had a couple omelette's and a crepe. Every thing was delicious. One of the omelette options was with house potatoes and the other with a side salad. The crepe was full of flavors and came with an ice cream scoop on the side.

Google
This review is for a togo order so it’s just strictly about the food. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with the side of the potatoes. The hollandaise sauce didn’t have much flavor and didn’t add much to the dish, the smoke salmon is just cut up smoked salmon that you can get at Costco wasn’t anything special, the poached egg was good though and perfectly cooked, the best thing about the dish was the side of potatoes they were crispy and delicious.

Yelp
**Squat and Gobble - A Culinary Adventure in Crepes** My visit to Squat and Gobble was a delightful culinary journey, featuring not only their signature Tuscany chicken pesto crepe but also a French onion soup and a steak salad that left a lasting impression. Starting with the French onion soup, it was a warm and comforting bowl of goodness. The broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the caramelized onions and topped with a generous amount of melted cheese and a crispy crouton. Each spoonful was a taste of traditional French cuisine done right. Next, the steak salad was a refreshing and satisfying choice. Tender slices of steak were served on a bed of fresh mixed greens, tossed with a light vinaigrette dressing. The salad was topped with cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, and a sprinkle of crumbled blue cheese, adding a delightful tangy and savory contrast to the dish. Of course, the highlight was the Tuscany crepe. The crepe itself was expertly made, thin and crispy, enveloping tender chicken, fresh tomatoes, and a generous spread of flavorful pesto sauce. The combination of ingredients was spot on, with each bite offering a burst of Italian-inspired flavors. The menu at Squat and Gobble offers a diverse selection of crepes and other dishes, catering to both savory and sweet preferences. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal alone or with friends. Service was prompt and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. Despite the restaurant being busy during my visit, the staff managed the flow efficiently. While the seating area can feel a bit cramped during peak times, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make Squat and Gobble a standout choice for anyone seeking delicious crepes and more. Overall, Squat and Gobble exceeded expectations with its flavorful dishes and friendly service. Whether you're craving crepes, soup, salad, or all of the above, this restaurant is a definite must-visit. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I've been here many times and usually love it. Today, I went for breakfast and it was just eh. No coffee refill. Chewy pancakes. The savory crepes and potatoes I've had in the past are definitely better. If I was rating this based on today's meal and service, I may have given it a 2.5 or 3 stars, but the food and service in the past has been amazingly wonderful, so I gave a higher rating.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout from here twice, and it has been delicious both times. Their house potatoes are some of the best I've had, perfectly crispy and flavorful. The first time, I got the croissant sandwich, which was very filling and packed with scrambled egg, ham, and cheese. The egg was a bit overpowering at times, but still enjoyable - I probably just needed a bigger appetite. The next time, I tried the fried chicken sandwich, and it was so good that I'll definitely be back for it. The chicken had the perfect crisp, and the sandwich was flavorful with the chipotle aioli and coleslaw-style sauce. It was also a huge portion - each half was almost the size of a fried chicken sandwich from a place like Chick-fil-A. I was excited to sub the fries for house potatoes, which were just as delicious as the first time. My only complaint is that it's on the pricey side; each dish was about $20. However, this is in line with SF prices, and the portions are huge, so you get what you pay for - each order has been enough for two meals. Their online ordering is seamless, though the default ready time is 40 minutes, which feels a bit long to me.

Yelp
Corner spot is great. The menu is huge on the wall as you walk in. You order at the counter and pick a seat and they bring your food to you. We had the Mexican chicken salad with diced grilled chicken, avocado, red onion, corn, and a host of other great ingredients. The service is very swift and friendly.

Yelp
We love squat & gobble for their tasty food and quick service. They offer a lot of breakfast and lunch options with savory crepes being my favorite! Great spot to meet with friends.

Yelp
Came to look at the menu and get updated pictures! The staff greeted us upon entry. We came to compare the local options.

Yelp
My visit to the Squat and Gobble on West Portal it was okay We ordered the Kale Cesar Salad with Salmon along with the Chicken Sliders with two Arnold Palmers which didn't taste anything of tea or lemonade. A couple of hours later myself and my fiancé was sick from either the food or drink could be a combination of both from 7/2/2024 thru 7/8/ 2024 hopefully they will take better care of the food/Drink preparation and handling going forward.

Yelp
I go here all the time and the breakfast potatoes have always been a favorite. Sooooo good! But ordered to go last night and they were different. I knew just by looking at them. They were still good less than a month ago. They were fine - maybe a C+. But guys, they used to be an A. Also there's a lady that works there most of the time and she's awesome.

Yelp
Haven't ate here in a long time! I used to come here all the time when I was younger. This time I tried their spaghetti with prawns, i thought it was ok. They only gave 4 prawns which didn't even taste that good and this cost $20+. Also got a kale salad, it was simple but was good.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast/ brunch. Was in the neighborhood and heading back to the East Bay. Walked in and grabbed a cup of coffee while I sat down and they made my Castro omelette to go. The food was prepared as requested. Hash browns crispy ,wheat toast and a delicious costco omelette scramble. Plenty of napkins and serving utensils in the bag. Thank you so muchthank you so much!

Yelp
I came in on a Friday morning at around 10am. There was plenty of room, especially considering how large this place is. You can order two ways, by looking at the GIGANTIC menu by the door and ordering at the counter, or taking a seat and scanning the QR code and ordering through that (my signal inside was bad but they have a wifi called Guest). I ordered a sweet crepe, strawberry Nutella and it came with ice cream. I forgot to ask for no ice cream but since it came with it, I ate some. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that I am lactose intolerant bc it was not a pretty scene in my stomach. French toast: it was okay. They forgot the toppings we requested but before I could flag someone down, someone who noticed our distress/confusion came over and rectified it immediately. Service: I had thought that since this is an order by the counter (similar to crepevine), that the service would be minimal, similar with many other order at the counter places but the service here was amazing, it was attentive. Whoever was working that day, it was a young lady on 6/16, you were amazing. Thank you so much! Overall, the food was okay, but I liked the location and the service, which bumped it up to a 3.5 - 4 stars.

Yelp
Came here to eat with my family and got the Hangover crepe again. The meat in my crepe was tad dry. There wasn't much seating when we came here for dinner. One of family members got the French Onion soup which looked delicious. I'll have to come back for that soup.

Alli C.

Yelp
We came in with little to no expectation, but arguably the best fish (cod) and chips we had in a long, long time. The batter was crisp and the fish was steamy tender, not mushy. It could only be better if the fish was halibut . I can't complain. The skinny fries were so darn tasty as well. They didn't harden as they cooled. My husband & I were snacking on them until we left. Our other dish was Grilled Salmon Cobb Salad. Salmon had a crispy sear with a semi-rare center. Perfectly cooked! The Gorgonzola and crispy fresh bacon brought the salad to another level. What is there not to like? And the portions were huge too. Meant to be shared. Definitely will return!

Yelp
Food was amazing and fast. 4 ppl were able to sit right away and still more seats to have for a bigger party is you like. Definitely like the fresh squeeze, orange juice and the champagne. If you're looking for mimosas, this is definitely a spot to get it.! Loved the quietness and they had kid menus as well. Definitely a family friendly environment

Yelp
Whoever was working the front this past Thursday was super friendly. We enjoyed our meal and the timing was good. The staff was very accommodating, checked in often and was very helpful.

Yelp
Been here many times. Always a solid experience. It's located right before the West Portal Muni tunnel. The cafe is huge, with a second floor. This morning, my son got the strawberry Nutella crepe. There were plenty of strawberries inside. My son was surprised to have a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Since this crepe was listed as a dessert and not a breakfast, the vanilla ice cream makes sense. My Eye Opener was very good. The eggs were perfectly cooked over easy. The side potatoes were nicely seasoned. I would like to shout out the coffee as an honorable mention. I don't know what they used, but the coffee was strong and yummy. Squat and Gobble is a great place with friendly service.

Yelp
Amazing food arrives was great I did went to there old location but the new one is bigger came on Sunday so finding parking was easy

Yelp
Local diner type of restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring out the order when it's ready. I had the Philly cheesesteak that had a lot of toppings including bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. I think it had cheese whiz. Very good. My wife had a crepe that came with potatoes and a salad. Everything was very good for a casual meal. They have a lot of breakfast items on the menu and they looked good seeing other peoples dishes. I would go back for breakfast or lunch it was an enjoyable meal.
google avatar

Jeanette Q.

Yelp
Came here for a after Christmas brunch with a friend! There were a lot of seating available and you can either order through the QR code or at the register. We ordered the fried chicken Benedict and the Nutella crepe! The food came really fast and the plates they gave us were warm. Food was delicious!

Yelp
I love coming here for their great family atmosphere! We come here occasionally and the service is always wonderful! You walk in and order your food first at the counter. Then have a seat and the food is brought to you. They have a kids menu too that makes meals here easy for my kid. The last time we came here was for Halloween! We come to West Portal for trick or treating with the businesses around 4pm and then end at Squat and Gobble for a quick, easy, and delish dinner! Then we head back out for more trick or treating in the neighborhood! Some suggestions I highly recommend for breakfast are south of the border omelette, croissant sandwich, huevos rancheros, and their classic benedict. For lunch/dinner my family recommends the fried chicken sandwich, turkey cranberry sandwich, their burgers and ALWAYS get their FRIES!!! Their fries are crunchy and great tasting!!! My kid loves their pasta with marinara sauce. ENJOY!
google avatar

Mayank L.

Yelp
Love the one in the Castro, but this one is another level. Only two stars for the wonderful, friendly staff. The food -- yech, the fried chicken sandwich was old and dry and the chicken tasted kinda old. Literally tasted better with just the bread and coleslaw. The coffee tastes like they reuse espresso grounds. Everything was made with no skill, love, technique. A real shame for a great location with great staff.
google avatar

Letty A.

Yelp
They are very consistent here, with hardworking staff that are always busy. Each table gets a bottle of cold water, which is nice. Food is OK, bacon is on the thin side.
google avatar

Yelp
Today was my first visit & I had the salmon cobb salad. It was bomb AF! I was a little apprehensive about the house vinaigrette but it really set off all the flavors. The croutons were a vibe too & I'm normally not a croutons fan but these were not like the crusty ones you get at the grocery store. I'll for sure be back, if their other food is as enjoyable as the salad was then sign me up.
google avatar

Yelp
I'd gone by here for years, particularly when I attended SF State, yet this was my first time dining here, I had a great experience. I had their Angus Chuck Burger it was perfect, just the right portion. This is a a big space, and the homestyle Christmas tree at the entrance made the experience nicer. The service was also great.

Yelp
imma give them a 3.5 if i could. i can tell you that everyone is very friendly and that they are helpful and wait time is decent. the menus are easy to read and paying was easy. it was a very slow day which makes my qualm the more upsetting. my toast was good. very well seasoned and creamy. they were generous with that. so thank you. (FOR 13$ it BETTER BE. LOL) BUT. my biggest qualm is the fruits. i heavily edited the image but they served me really old fruit, close to being rotting. it was brown on most fruits, mushy to the taste, i cant believe that they would knowingly serve that to customers just to get rid of old fruits. with most of the melon and strawberries. i just couldn't. but the cantaloupe i tried and stopped because it was not fresh and tasted old as well. so as much as i didn't want to waste food, i just left the fruit, hoping they looked and can be more mindful in the future. i'm open to trying their other menu options when i'm in the area, since their menu looks expansive but i just wanted to say my peace for this experience.

Yelp
Food is always excellent. The service is outstanding!! Took my two grandsons. The kids meals are perfect
google avatar

Yelp
A lovely spot to stop at when walking in the marina. Come hungry because the portions are large, especially the salads -- those could definitely be split. The service was quick and one could definitely get in and out in a short amount of time. The menu is super vast with lots of different cuisines so it's a place for everyone.

Tainese A.

Yelp
Bought the crab cake eggs Benedict with a kale caesar salad on March 9 and it gave me food poisoning!

Yelp
Always consistent comfort food, no matter which location I go to. Everything always tastes good and homely. It been like 2 years since I let order preCovid days and now it's still good. I got the Zorba the Greek has Mozzarella & Feta Cheese, Eggplant, Roasted Red Peppers, Onions, Spinach, Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives Served with House Potatoes & House Salad And Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fries and a pickle are good size portion and fulfilling. The place was busy around 12:45pm and it was an easy takeout order as I ordered it online. It was put in sturdy black takeout boxes and in a sturdy brown bag with handles which was nice, since I didn't have a car in this trip. Yummy in our tummies.

Yelp
Awesome place we are having like 20 family members upstairs. Awesome service great food good prices. Server's are fantastic awesome cooks all the staff super friendly and helpful Thank you Will definitely be back

Adam L.

Yelp
Not particularly good. I ate in and the coffee was lukewarm, the eggs were cold and the veggies were raw. Toast cold and the pat of butter was like a frozen brick. Worse than mediocre
google avatar

Easton A.

Yelp
Pretty good food; expensive, even for SF, but pretty good. And not so expensive that it's a rip off. The menu has lots of variety and some decent healthy options as well. However, I suggest you don't order beverages (adult in this case, but the principle would apply elsewhere,) especially for take out. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas, which ended up being about 50 bucks after all the fees. You can see how much that actually bought. At best one margarita. Not a particularly strong one, nor made with fancy tequila. A straight up rip-off worthy of a two-bit mob outfit from The Sopranos.

Yelp
A modestly vibrant neighborhood eatery serving familiar brunch items from omelettes to benedicts and scramblers. The decor was simple yet inviting with a warm zesty interior. The food was quick to serve for the most part on a Saturday during later brunch hours and came in hearty proportions to satisfy the senses. I ordered the Milan scramble. A charming mix of sautéed italian sausage with mushrooms and tomatoes, along with spinach and onions drizzled over in pesto sauce, the plate provided an even more charming bite. The components were sliced finely, each bite revolving over and under with a gentle touch of parmesan, the flavours were as expected, not amazing but a delight nonetheless. The combination of ingredients just work deliciously and no less feeds the appetite for a brunch craving. Scramble aside, the accompanying rosemary garlic potato bits were a simple addition but shone past its purpose! Somehow one could find oneself indulging in more with every bite, the seasoning was spot on and the potatoes remained crisp crisp til the end even when the dish had cooled. I finished them all. The toast was somewhat burnt with a crunch and perhaps not all the more appealing to most than a mere starch item to simple exist. Filling and delightful as it was, this scramble deserves a mention, a well executed plate with the potatoes anchoring it all - worth a visit!

Yelp
Great food, fresh squeezed orange juice! Super Busy on weekends. Order at the front. Ambiance is casual

Yelp
You got to admit that this mandatory "Shelter in Place" order is driving everyone nuts. I just can't stay home. I feel like I am punished and in solitary-confinement. None of you wants to know how that feel. And not leaving the crib for a couple of days. I decided to drive around the quiet city and explore the Squat and Gobble in Portola Valley for a takeout. For delivery or pick up, you can use either Uber Eats, Post Mate or the Door Dash apps (which I used). I was craving for an Grilled Chicken Asian Salad. For $16.00, I get two fat grilled chicken breast with romaine lettuce, shredded cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts and a side of sesame & ginger dressing. This salad dressing adds a nice tang and ginger taste to my greens. Despite being $16.00, I liked this salad. Staying home means getting fat. I am trying to avoid gaining weight by eating healthy. (Yeah, right!) This corner restaurant was remodeled a couple of years ago after a fire. I have always wanted to dine here. As soon as the SIP is lifted, I may dine here and check out other foods including the burgers and crepes.

Yelp
I was disgusted when I found a nail clipping in my food. I ordered the NorCal Omelette. As I was almost finishing my food, I felt something hard and it was a nail clipping. I brought to the front to the cashier and she apologized and refunded me. She said she would look into it but I doubt it. She asked if I wanted another plate and I declined since I feared something else would be in the food. I will never come here again. Absolutely disgusted.

Yelp
The OJ is freshly squeezed, and all food options are ginormous! The mimosa bottle service is fun. This location isn't as busy as the marina location, which makes it the best!

Jessie A.

Yelp
My brother got food poisoning from eating here last week. Would not recommend risking it.

Yelp
Quick take: crepes are on point I decided to go with something savory. Ordered the Italian Crepe. So delicious! Yummy yummy filling...cheesy pesto goodness. Very generous portion with a side of fresh mixed green salad and potatoes. Ended up waddling out of there trying my best to clear the plate. Next time I might eat half the serving and pack up my left overs instead of over indulging. Lol But yeah, nice spot for breakfast or brunch. The crepes are on point. Orders are taken at the register. Take your number and pick your own table. Service is efficient and friendly.
google avatar

Mario C.

Yelp
Food was very good and filling and good portion sizes. Went to their new upstairs dining section, but all the tables did not have their new QR code procedure to order, so had to come back down and order with the front register. One drawback was that they Didn't have anyone come back and ask us if we needed more water or anything else.

Sarah A.

Yelp
It's just plain fun, local and family-owned. We went for breakfast and everyone loved what we ordered. Service was excellent-a little slow because the restaurant was packed but worth the wait!

Maggie D.

Yelp
Really really love their crepes and their back yard is gorgeous. I'd recommend this as a great brunch spot for those two reasons alone. They kinda screw you over with the bottomless mimosas, they always say you started earlier than you did and they stop you before your time is up.

Pine A.

Yelp
The place feels more like grub hub or Uber eats order to go spot than a restaurant. Order bags were all over the front counter and half the tables were empty. I get it they are just trying to make it as a restaurant though so I understand that. But what I didn't like was that I was asked to pay before receiving my food like it was McDonald's or jack in the box. And to top it off the steak was so bad I couldn't even eat it. It had a weird taste to it. I'm not really a picky eater either so it definitely was off. Not going back.

Fernanda C.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a Sunday. Amazing service and good food. The guys taking our order and in the back were very attentive and kept coming back to refill our mimosas.
google avatar

Cheri L.

Yelp
I ordered delivery from this place and the food was very good! The boxes are big and microwavable. My order was the chicken pesto crepe with house potatoes and salad, as well as a build your own crepe. I loved the jalapeño sour cream you can get wih the pesto. The food was still tasty and the potatoes were still crunchy when it got to me. Prices are a bit high but you do get quite an amount of food. Definitely a good spot if your craving sweet or savory crepes!

Yelp
I came here to eat brunch with my friend.. this place I want to see is excellent food.. but it is the closest to my place.. once we walk in you see the big menu on the entrance way. Notice the prices I spit up at least $2.50.. don't know why I was craving fish and chips.. looks great but not tasty..and my friend got the Angus beef burger..hmm not worth $41 plus tips... I still like crepevine compare to here ...

Yelp
We've eaten here several times pre-pandemic. It was ok but not tonight. French Onion soup sounded good until I tasted it. While the soup had some flavor unfortunately it was tepid and cheese barely melted over the bowl. I had to send it back. Midway down the bowl, I noticed it was mostly bread in there. The 2 stars are for the hostess who was very pleasant. Not returning.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here for lunch over the weekend on Saturday around 1:35pm and there was no wait. This restaurant makes you wait in line to order your food, before you get seated. I ordered the hangover and my boyfriend ordered the chuck cheeseburger. When our food arrived, the presentation looked nice. It wasn't sloppy and food wasn't falling over. My boyfriend's burger was neatly stacked and my crepe order filled the plate well! Now, enough about the presentation, the flavor of the food is the important part! My boyfriend loved his burger. He said it was very moist and well seasoned! My dish was only ok. It was good during the first few bites, but I felt like the crepe needed a little extra flavor somewhere. My boyfriend liked my dish a lot though! I'd recommend this place if you're craving breakfast items! The food is not too expensive, presentation was neat, and the food was still good. They have a lot of breakfast items here and not just crepes.

Yelp
Unbelievable selection. Full ingredient lists for allergy and diet practices. Gluten free items! Huge portions absolutely love this place.
