There's hospitality, and then there's "Southern Hospitality." #HowdySugar highlights the sweet spots in Savannah that make me feel special.
I discovered Squirrel's Pizza a few months ago. I was raised on a porch by wild rednecks in Mississippi, the squirrel was the first animal that I learned to shoot, skin and have as a pet...all at the same time. There is much trauma surrounding the squirrel with me. Imagine my surprise to walk into a place called Squirrel's... a chic design that includes a wall full of framed squirrel "portraits" donning pearls and cute little outfits. It's as if all the squirrels I shot back in the day with my official Red Rider dual pump action BB gun all came to heaven in this most unique, adorable place.
I have now had three amazing moments at Squirrel's Pizza and that should be noted. This unique, cozy, warm, beautifully designed spot has captured my heart. I have sampled everything off their Happy Hour menu, The baked chevre and sliders are noteworthy. Today I had the absolutly, positively, wonderful Miss Shadi. Not only did she sling me a fantastic Bloddy Mary (The TRUE house wine of the South) but paired it up with a Sloppy Joe. Redneck refined. Elevated Sloppy Joe. This aint your boring Manwich... trust me.
After eating I asked Miss Shadi if she would take a picture with me. Without batting an eyelash, she said yes. I said, "Grab that case of PBR and let's do this," I also love a sweet little angelic girl that can lift a case of PBR like a truck driver!
Thank you Sqiuirel's, for always making me feel at home, You get my highest rating of THREE srars. Three is the highest in my scale. Ill try anything three times, good or bad, but when you knock it out the park three times consecutively...well that makes y'all rock stars in my eyes.
Thanks Sugar,
John-Earl
