Sr. Alberto Authentic

My girlfriend and I visited Señor Alberto around 2 PM. I was looking forward to it because I had not eaten for about twelve hours, and I have always enjoyed Alberto’s, especially the South Gate location. This was my second visit to this particular shop, and the experience was noticeably different. The carne asada in my burrito had an unusual amount of tendon, which you can see in the photos. That texture has never been part of my past visits to any Alberto’s, and it stood out immediately. The large taco was acceptable, but the meat looked different and was not cut the way I am used to seeing it. We also noticed an issue with the fountain drink. It had almost no carbonation, and the syrup was weak, so we ended up buying bottled Coke instead. When we ordered chips and guacamole, we were served nacho chips with guacamole and cheese. That was not what we expected based on previous visits. The overall visit felt off, and the quality did not match the consistency I have come to expect from other Alberto’s shops. I am hoping the South Gate location does not move in this direction because that store has always delivered reliable food and service for me.

I ordered their super sized fries. They were nice enough to cook add shrimp to my order instead. It turned out good! Good price and fast and polite service!

I always loved the chimichanga burritos here but they must have changed cooks. It was terrible! Dry as can be, no moisture from the eggs or meat, overcooked. I'm not going back, tasteless. I gave it to my dog.

First time trying their food. Very happy that it was the only restaurant open at 12:06am and very delicious food. My fiancé and I both got tacos. 6 al pastor and 2 asada and both meats were so good. Definitely going back earlier, heads up, we thought the size of the tacos were small tortillas and they were the regular size tortilla. Their sauce was so good, make sure to request extra.

Menu picture was taken 8/10/24. Our food was delicious and the service was fast. This is my favorite place for nachos the chips stay firm until the last bite.

Worst food ever ..the food was cold and got me throwing up . Someone needs to send a food inspection here the food isn't on temperature and the meat isn't even azada it's the cheap meat allot of fat on it .worst place to eat at be careful we're you guys choose to eat .

Cheese enchilada plate is bad, very soupy. Chicken burrito was bad. Asada burrito was bigger and different for some reason. Asada fries are always killer.

Came over here with my family tried these new shrimp tacos lettuce wrapped was extremely good finished it all and felt so full becuase of how good it was and the service was excellent really nice employees there. They gave me my food extra fast. I recommend you guys this place. 10/10 would go again.

Skinny burritos not like how it used to be and charge more for less. Wish they kept quality the same if they are gonna charge more .

Literally scraped up 13.25 in the drive thru last night for the worse shrimp burrito I have ever had in my life. So extremely bland. When I say everything was TAN in color and flavor. Shrimp literally had no salt or pepper..... it was just cooked. That's it. I was hoping the verde would help but it was basically a water bag of green stuff. CORNY omg I was so disappointed

Cashier rude as fuck! She tried to overcharge me and gave me attitude when I questioned the overcharge. She threw me the receipt and after she gave me my food, she slammed the window on me. Since the location got a new paint job, y'all should get some new staff.

I'm honestly surprised to be giving this place five stars--but it's well deserved, and here's why. This review is strictly for their Super Fries, and they absolutely nailed it. The fries themselves are the star: medium-thick cut, perfectly crispy, and they stay crispy--even under layers of beans, sour cream, guac, and meat. That's no small feat, since those toppings usually turn fries into a soggy mess. Somehow, this location gets the balance just right. Even the beef is better than expected--not top-tier steak, but definitely better than the usual chewy chuck you get at other spots. Out of all the places I've tried, this one just makes the Super Fries work. I've only had it via delivery, so I can't speak for the dine-in experience, but every time it's arrived hot, fresh, and consistently good. If you're craving solid carne asada fries, this is the spot.

Good, fresh and authentic Mexican food, good prices and great service. Employees are always nice, friendly and ready to serve. Drive thru is a like small but the employees get cars in and out in a timely manner

Good nachos and breakfast burritos. While a tad greasy, it satisfies the craving. Fast drive thru service.

I want to begin by saying after the experience I just had, it is taking every ounce of me to not put a 1 (or 0 if we could) stars for my review. I have been eating here since I was in middle school and the food was always consistently good so I am giving them more than they deserve after my experience! So, I started by stopping by to pick up a breakfast burrito. I come randomly so I always ask what is in their burrito in case I need to take out anything that might upset my stomach. I came to the drive through and tried to speak with the girl through the Mike. Between the loud cars and wonky Mike, she couldn't really hear me. I tried to get louder but it was no use. I mainly wanted to know what was in the burrito but she kept hearing "bacon" (in bacon breakfast burrito) and asked several times if I wanted just bacon. She then continued by saying "let me know when you are ready." I quickly tried to get her attention by saying "hello, I'm ready to order" but she didn't respond. I then asked if I could come to the window and order there as there was no line. She didn't respond so I went to the window. Here's where I was really upset. I drove up and sat there. The girl in the front absolutely saw me, but didn't try to ask me my order or what I was trying to say in the Mike or even she is sorry for the technical difficulties, but just continued to take customers at the walk up window and ignored me. I had it when I saw them and just drove off. I don't want to throw the whole shop under the bus because maybe this girl was just having a bad day, but that's not the way to treat customers.

This is my go to place for tortas now and they're always very consistent and good! The drive thru is pretty fast too

I haven't been to Alberto's in a while and I was very pleased with the new menu display and the friendly associates.

I LIVE TO GIVE A PLACE A SECOND CHANCE AND THEY REDEEM THEMSELVES! TWO YEARS LATER! Tonight, my dad and i wanted some food, and i was really craving taquitos with guac, and he wanted a burrito. We decided to go pretty late tonight (9:30pm) and WOW, WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! The service was fast as hell, the food was HOT and bomb, and the prices were really fair! The Chile verde burrito weighed as much as I did, and they did NOT skimp on the meat. Also, the tortilla was a homemade flour tortilla!!! WHERE THEY DO THAT AT NOW?! My "rolled tacos" were very tasty as well. They cheese and guac made the taquitos that much better, and I will 100% get them again. . My dad is one PICKY ASS MAN, and he definitely enjoyed his food and even said he will be back as well! ( a big deal for that picky Mexican) amazing job, Alberto's!!

We were craving for Mexican food and we drove by this place. Finally!! I get to try this local mexican drive thru place. but immediately got disappointed. Prolly the worst burito and tacos i had. They dont seem fresh. It tasted like recooked food. I wish took some pictures but was really disappointed to do so. We ordered: - carne asada burrito Feels dry and when i got to my last few bites, the food tasted so weird. Like old guac taste. - carne asada fries Its okay, but nothing special - Fries tacos beef The oiliest food i ever had. The oil was drippin. The tacos shell was as crazy hard almost not edible.

The food was very flavorful and seasoned well. The portions are generous and priced accordingly. All the ingredients are fresh and look good. The service from the staff is always friendly, personable, and welcoming. I highly recommend you give this spot a try. It's known to locals and they love it.

this place gave me a cold asada burrito after I paid $12. it must have been from previous night because it was not even warm whatsoever. The audacity to serve a cold burrito and not make a fresh one. do not order from this place. terrible quality of food. Half a star if I can.

Burrito de chile relleno esta delicioso, el arroz tiene muy buen sabor, los frijolitos refritos muy ricos y el chile relleno con bastante queso, el pico de gallo fresco. Definitivamente se los recomiendo. Buen servicio y que no falte el chile toreado.

I ordered taquitos and a bean and cheese burrito But half way down my burrito I discover a whole toothpick in my burrito... They gave me a full refund and said it must have came from there tacos by accident hmmmmm.... Never gunna eat here again... Good thing I didn't give it to my 2 year old daughter like my plan was but she ate already. I do feel bad cuz she was a sweet older lady but damn come on now.

First off if you don't want to work there don't. No need for the attitude when I ask for the drinks I ordered and didn't receive. Second how do you repeat my order back to me and still hand me the wrong plate, and when I go try to get it fixed the guy argues trying to make their wrong a right. Don't recommend this place people here are very hostile and food isn't that good. (Seems like it's not the first time they get orders wrong either)

Will never understand how you can order food, have the order repeated back to you, and still receive the order incorrect.

The lady taking the orders has a bad attitude. If you don't like your job go find another job. I would never come back here again.

It was late at night and all of a sudden, I wanted carne asada fries. It literally just hit me out of nowhere and I jumped into my car in my PJs in search for some. I got to Pepe's and the drive-thru was ridiculously long and while I was there, my friend had mentioned to me that Alberto's has really good 'super fries' SO I BUSTED A U out of the drive-thru and cruised to Alberto's! I've always passed by this place but the location always turned me off. A small corner and there's usually always a line of cars out to the street. Luckily there was no one there last night. I got an order of asada fries (hold the beans pls) and within minutes I was on my way with my car smelling delish! Got home a few minutes later and wooooww he was so beautiful. So much guac and sour cream - I was in heaven. Lots of fries, meat and cheese as well - the salsa was bomb. The green one ok, not the red. I'm a weenie when it comes to hot stuff. Can't handle. ONE BIT. Idk if I'd make the drive to come back because yes it was really good but I'd say comparable to Pepe's - which is way closer to me. Idk. We will have to see.

This location is always a hit or miss with quality. It was my first time trying the carnitas burrito and it was very mediocre. It tasted pretty dry, you really need to use the side of salsa they provide. I wish they put salsa inside the burrito, or maybe sour cream to give it a boost? Aside from the flavor it was a pretty big burrito! I'd recommend getting a combo plate over their burritos.

The worst Tacos I have ever had. The taco shells were burnt and the shredded beef was awful.

The California burritos are fire! So good.. place looks ok. Could use a make over or new paint. The cashier lady was so nice and patience lol. I couldn't decide what I wanted but overall, food was delicious.

I've been coming here for well over a decade. they used to be so great and at a low cost. Nowadays, it's totally different! their prices have gone drastically up, their servings are tiny now and the service has also become poor. I know the price of food, in general, has gone up. But, usually, some places will charge you the same, but the amount will be less. then some others will charge you more while you get the same amount that you used to get. Alberto's, just like McDonald's now gives you less amount for waaaaaaaaaay more. I feel like my days of going to Alberto's has finally come to an end. *just as an update from my 2019 review. I've given this place a second chance a few times this past year or so. 100% of the time, they've got my order wrong!!! I'm not too fond of their "Jesus-ness" either. but, every time they've given me the wrong order, the cashier has a bit of an attitude (after I repeat my order to her multiple times (she said, "I know, I know"). This place used to be so great when they first opened and for a few years afterward. Now? not at all!!!

I love their California burrito I get it once a week maybe more depending on my mood. It has been consistent and very delicious. I haven't tried anything else on the menu so I'll stick to the classic

This place was great years ago now it's the typical trash. Tired eating here a month ago and it was horrible. Gave it one last chance tonight and even worse than the last. The food was beyond cold. From the time I ordered to when they handed me the food was 30 seconds or less. Clearly old food. Oil taste old I would never never eat here again STAY AWAY!!! Go to rays up the street they never miss.

I drive thru tonight as I have in the past I ordered the carne asada quesadilla as I have before well they used to I'm pretty sure cut it into 4 it's a burrito size flour tortilla anyways only cut in half and pretty much only filled it half way as well , the carne asada was falling out of the top and I thought oooh nice they didn't hold back!! Well the reason it was falling out of the top was because half of the whole tortilla was filled with not even enough cheese for the meat to cling to I'm very disappointed sorry to say and I don't think I'll be back !!!! see pics for reference

cashier is rude as hell, lady could not understand what i was saying and messed up my order, proceeded to call me rude when i questioned price of order and contents of order, slammed window in my face when i asked for refund and told me i wasnt getting my refund. all im gon say is the cashier got issues she need to deal with cuz FOH with all the attitude and bs. my kid was in the car i almost got to craccin on her bih ahh

Burrito de asada with no Pico, add cheese and crema and it's ALWAYS BOMB HERE, these guys are up late making bomb food and always get my order right. Drive through is where it's at for me

I don't know what happened to this place!!! The salsa was never good-- tasteless watery fluid in plastic catsup bags. The food has always been good until tonight!!! I get the carnitas burrito which is usually delicious stuffed with meat. WHAT HAPPENED??? Tonight, it was stuffed with rice, beans, raw onion and cilantro stems!! somebody show this person how to put a burrito together!! I will try this place one more time if it's bad like it was tonight I will NEVER BE BACK

Ordered through door dash and they completely effed up our order. Ordered 2 carne asada fries they gave us one. Ordered a carne asada burrito it wasn't carne asada. And they stuffed a quesadilla into a small box as pictured. They told us to call door dash, why would we call them when they're not the ones making the food?? Pay attention please and do better.

I've been coming here to this taco shop for 13 years, since I moved to Covina in 2009. Lately the lady at the register ( I don't know her name)has been asking if I want to add a tip before she charges for my food. Then when I tell her "not this time" she mentions "oh this time I didn't charge you for the extra salsas. (Supposedly you get 2 salsas per plate) well in my case it's not enough, I need at least 3 salsas per plate, so my daughter and I don't "fight" for the salsa. Anyway in my opinion waitstaff "earns " the tip by first of all being nice, then "THEY SERVE YOU! And keep bringing you what you need, that's how and when I tip. But now, I have to start thinking about it before going to the taco shop cause besides prices just keep increasing (and I'm not saying just there) I gotta think if I have enough for a tip . I'm sorry if the cashiers don't get paid enough but, I personally do not tip every cashier at every store that I go to. I feel harassed now by that lady to the point I don't want to go there anymore. I really would like to talk to the owner about it before I make my decision to stop getting my rolled tacos at this establishment.

I told the lady through the speaker i did not want guac and lettuce on my fluatas and she said ok & then i told her again in the second window . When i recieved my order it had everything i didn't ask for , and when i came back i didn't even have to say a word for her to know what i came back for . She was rude and arrogant and began to say i didn't say anything and was telling the cook it wasn't her fault and trying to victimize herself over something so small . Love the food here been coming here for years!! My favorite place to get Horchata by far!! The carneAsada Burrito is always a must! Always huge and filled perfectly! Super nachos are always great on any day they hit the spot! The lady at the front register always provides excellent customer service!

What an upset. Came here and ordered a bean and cheese burrito and shrimp burrito. First let me start with the bean and cheese burrito. Hi may I please have a bean and cheese burrito, only the beans cheese and tortilla cut in half. Lady taking order: Ok, anything else Me: Yes shrimp burrito with ONLY shrimp, egg, and cheese. Cut in half. Lady taking order: shrimp burrito? Me: Yes only Shrimp, egg and cheese. Cut in Half. Lady taking order: Shrimp, egg and sour cream? Me: No, Shrimp, egg and cheese burrito only nothing else. Lady taking order: Ok, cheese. Cut in half. Anything else? Me: No thank you. My receipt showed an extra $1.50 on top of my $8.50 shrimp burrito. Ok that's fine. My wife bean and cheese burrito exactly how I ordered, however the beans were not Warm/hot and cheese was not melted. Ugh!!! Now my shrimp burrito was everything I didn't want. It had shrimp, lettuce, some sort of sauce, other stuff, egg and if there was cheese I didn't taste it or see it, so what did I pay the extra $1.50 for? At least they cut it in half. C'mon guys not that difficult I specifically stated exactly what I wanted and you confirmed. SHRIMP, EGG, CHEESE ONLY!!!! Terrible.. Let's get it together Alberto!!!!!!

So me and my boyfriend drove down to get burritos. I ended up ordering the al pastor burrito with guacamole. (A girl loves her guacamole!) And we get home to find out that my burrito doesn't have guacamole. So we go back, let the staff know, and they kindly give us a second al pastor burrito with the guacamole....or so we thought! We drive all the way back home, and I open up the burrito to find no guacamole once again. It's not their fault I'm sure, I guess the universe didn't want me to have guacamole today haha. Me and my boyfriend laughed so hard at the horrible circumstances. I ended up calling them to let them know, and the head cashier guy was in disbelief and said he would check the cameras to confirm. I'll save him the trouble by posting my guac-less burritos.

I come to this Alberto's maybe once per month. I almost always get a wet bean, rice & cheese burrito. And it's almost always perfect. Every once in a great while the rice is a little undercooked. The crew there is always super friendly and I can't remember ever getting the wrong order... which is not something I can say about other fast food joints!

Love the chili Relleno burrito. Employees are always nice. Idk why the low rating, tbh. I've been coming here for years and I'm never disappointed.

I haven't been here in ages, but stopped by here today while I was in the area. I ordered the Super Fries and it was pretty good. For some reason I remember it being better, but it wasn't bad by any means. There were only 2 cars in front of us, but it took a little while to get to the window. I was pretty surprised the line was so short, since there was always a significant line here since I went to high school across the street in the late 90s. Maybe it's the result of the food not tasting as good as it used to be? Would I recommend this location based on this visit? Probably not.

I love super fries but this place is a hit or miss. Very expensive fries and sometimes the toppings lack and the fries are cold. I also got a hair in it once but I didn't call or go back because I was already home. They don't put pico on this and it costs extra. I have a love hate relationship with Alberto.

Always happy with the Mexican food here. Ended up getting a carnita taco, carne asada burrito and chile relleno burrito. Their was two ppl n ahead of us in the drive thru and another person in back of us. This is the spot for dinner. Had to wear a mask while ordering. They take cash and debit cards.

Have been going here for years...horrible ordered taquitos with guacamole 5 pieces... meat only in middle and meat was big pieces of fat with I don't know what kind of meat... not their normal shredded beef. Don't waste your hard earned money here.

I haven't been here in like a year and when we went last night it was not disappointing at all very good fast service and they brought back the thick fries they had these really skinny fries a year ago I will definitely be back!

The place to go for a late night bite after your buzz has gone away. I ordered the carne Asada fries. Totally hit the spot after taking down a few shots of whiskey lol Tip: The drive-thru they can get pretty long, to where it goes in to the street into oncoming traffic. The best thing to do is park it, walk up and order, you'll save a lot more time.
