On our trip through Hassan, I stopped at the magnificent Chennakesava Temple in Belur, and it was nothing short of breathtaking.
Built over 900 years ago during the Hoysala dynasty, this temple is a living showcase of intricate stone craftsmanship. The walls and pillars are adorned with delicate carvings of deities, dancers, animals, and mythological tales, each more detailed than the last. What amazed me most is how every sculpture feels alive — almost like the stone itself is telling stories from centuries past.
The temple complex has a serene atmosphere, blending history, spirituality, and artistry in one place. It’s not just a monument, but a heritage jewel that reflects the grandeur of Hoysala architecture.
If you’re visiting Hassan or nearby, the Chennakesava Temple is a must-visit — an unforgettable experience for history buffs, art lovers, and travelers alike.
