St Alban Hotel & Spa (La Clusaz, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Though not as famous as nearby Chamonix, the French Alpine town of La Clusaz is a true classic — it was an established village long before the ski boom, and when the first lift was installed in the Fifties, it was ready. Today it’s an all-seasons resort town with more character than the more recently built ones, and in the St-Alban, it’s got a boutique hotel to match — one that pays tribute to Alpine-lodge tradition but ultimately presents its own characteristic point of view." - Tablet Hotels

St-Alban Hotel & Spa | Best budget ski hotels in Europe

"One of La Clusaz’s newest boutique hotels, the St-Alban Hotel & Spa has the feel of a plush English gentleman’s club: guests are welcomed into the wood-panelled lobby with its leather banquettes, velvet footstools, chess boards and shelves stacked with books. There are more books in the Art Deco bar and bedrooms – in fact, there are some 21,000 books scattered throughout the hotel (ideal for guests keen to practice their French on non-ski days). Down in the basement, the good-sized spa was created in collaboration with French beauty brand Nuxe. Guests can divide their time between the indoor pool, sauna, Kneipp hydrotherapy jets, ice cave and relaxation room. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the slopes each morning. " - Nicola Iseard

As others have said, this is an outstanding hotel - I was so pleased with my choice of St Alban and of La Clusaz; both are delightful. St Alban is immaculately clean, well-designed and incredibly well-managed. The staff are wonderful, friendly, attentive and reliable. Chloe wowed us with her phenomenal English and warmth. Lea and another man on Reception whose name I didn't catch were also very friendly and helpful. The concierge service at the hotel was excellent - they arranged our transfer journeys, advised on ski lessons and booked our restaurants. The hotel minibus even took us straight to the ski lift. We loved the lavish breakfasts and enjoyed the complimentary afternoon teas. I wish all hotels were run like this!

St Alban has got everything right. The basics - solid breakfast and clean big room (we had 3 person room, which was easily big enough for 3 adults) to the luxuries - afternoon tea, ski shop on site, spa/pool, transport each morning to ski lifts, 'tour village' bus stop outside hotel. Staff were great and all communications was quick and easy, both before and during stay. Location is a little out of the town, which makes it quiet, but there is lots of bars and restaurants within 5 minutes walk. 10 minute walk to town centre. The price was very reasonable. In short, excellent hotel and La Clusaz is a good choice for a 4 days ski trip

Everything about our stay was 5*. The staff were really accommodating (sadly I injured myself skiing) and the team were extremely helpful and even shuttled me around the village outside of their hours. ||The front desk recommended lovely places to eat and even made reservations for us. ||The breakfast spread has everything you could want to fuel up for a day of activities. ||Cocktails in the bar in the evening were lovely and a great range of games to play as well as live music on the weekends. ||The location is great with a very short walk to some of the best restaurants and cafes. As well, we had a lovely balcony with views of the snowy mountains. ||100% recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

A great find. This understated hotel is a real gem . Clean, well appointed rooms with great customer service. The breakfast buffet yummy and afternoon tea a must. Pool & spa are an extra bonus .|We liked the model which encourages guests to explore the local options ( which are many) when eating out in the evening, whilst a bar area and some snacks are available. The book theme is fab .|Local skiing area is wonderful too!

Apart from being a first class hotel stay, I wish to say a big thank you to reception staff for rescuing our passports from our room safe and sending them by taxi to catch us at Geneva airport. Quick thinking and much appreciated . |Very comfortable rooms. Spotlessly clean. Lovely lounge and bar areas. Great views of the slopes. Board games for the family. Live music in the bar of the weekend. Amazing selection at breakfast

A perfect location for a short short ski break, with a ski shop on site and a complementary shuttle to the lifts in the morning (although only a five minute walk). The breakfast buffet was outstanding and the spa very good (although quite small). La Clusaz itself is a nice town with plenty of restaurants to choose from.
