Julia M. Usher’s YouTube Channel Takes 3-D Cookie Recipes to the Next Level | Eater

"A large convention venue that hosted a mid‑July cookie art competition filmed by the Food Network, where dozens of life‑like, three‑dimensional cookie sculptures were displayed along narrow tables near the entrance while producers and camera crews worked to capture ideal shots. The hall doubled as an exhibition space with vendor booths selling decorating supplies (stencils, edible acrylic paint, etc.), and the competition featured separate 2‑D and 3‑D divisions, cash and product prizes totaling over $10,000, and judging by a panel that provided detailed feedback afterwards. Entries ranged from an eight‑week, several‑hundred‑hour “Antiquities of Mexico” project with a sculpted toucan beak to playful fried‑chicken cookies and molded gingerbread characters, and attendees often marveled at how convincingly realistic some pieces looked. Organizers emphasized community and education—judges followed up with contestants to close the feedback loop—and the event highlighted both the technical difficulty and theatrical spectacle of contemporary sugar art." - Hal Sundt

Google
A HUMONGOUS place to navigate. It was great, clean, neat, expansive, I was shocked it has a hotel attached to it. In my limited scope, I've never been to any convention center this huge and with the hotel attached. I didn't stay at said hotel, far too out of MY price range, but wow! I went for the anime convention, and was a helping vendor. I didn't have much of a chance to get away and explore, but the staff I met were nice and helpful. My ONLY complaint is the bathroom. The soap dispenser next to the sinks?? They're absolutely crap, they're supposed to be motion sensor activated??? DID NOT WORK. I think on Saturday, I got one to give me an empty pump once, but for the entire weekend, those things DID NOT WORK for me no matter how much I tried to trigger the sensors...

Google
An awesome place to host an event. Management is easy to work with to reserve space. Whole place is extra clean. There are a lot of rooms that can be configured to suit your event. Staff is very friendly. Only event space in St Louis area that has free parking for all attendees.

We have been to this convention center for multiple events. There's ample parking and it has an accessible entrance. The Café has usually been closed when I have been here. Bathrooms are clean and maintained. It seems like an older building but definitely efficient for many types of events. Super accessible from the highway!

Visited the Great American Train show on January 25th, 2025. Lots of vendors with H.O and Nscale trains and accessories,as well of some setups.

Google
A very nice place. Very well kept. Clean. Neat. I stayed in room 718..... and my bed was terrible, hence the 4 star review. My bed had a ravine in it that hurt my back by morning. Rooms were clean. Food serves during events was actually very tasty and hot. Other than the worn out mattress... a great place. Uber rides cost between twenty and forty bucks to anywhere. Free breakfast was very good. Custom omelets available.

It was nice. Food was okay. Was a little bit of chaos to find our room as sections were closed off.

Yelp
Convention space - 4/5 Large and clean, but confusingly laid out. Staff could not seem to keep the ice water in the halls refilled. Restrooms - 2/5 Too limited for a large conference and were not kept clean. Location - 2/5 Inconvenient from the city of St. Louis, but convenient to the airport. However, unlike other convention centers, the food options within a short walk are very limited. On-Site Food - 1/5 "Made with apathy." Some of the least palatable food I've ever eaten, at airport prices. Staff seem listless and have no desire to be helpful. This seems like a horrible work environment. This is particularly concerning given that the convention center bans attendees from bringing in outside food.

Yelp
my first visit here was definitely intriguing. the people here were nice and staff was non-hostile and friendly. there was a variety of rooms and subjects. the cafe at the hotel was a bit unorganized which had the farthest of my concern. same thing goes with some of the tables, but that's about it. the outdoor food tent was mighty concerning. I'd be more pleased if I didn't go into details. the tea was good though, (sorry I couldn't finish it). the entire place seems organized and non-hostile except for most of the nooks and crannys (corners, trash cans, little pieces of matter on the floor, etc.) other than that, nice place. the mascots are pretty.

Yelp
I have been here a couple of times for conferences. Venues are new/clean and more than adequate. The buffet style lunches they served were pretty good considering they fed 200 or so. Restroom facilities have always been clean. Room sound systems more than adequate. From attending a conference point of very...deserving of 5 stars.

Yelp
Very nice venue! I was here for a bodybuilding competition that had hundreds of competitors as well as spectators and it was great. The restrooms were clean and roomy, well kept. The parking lot was huge and there was a small cafe located up the escalator for snacks and coffee during the event. Although I did not eat here I took a gander at the menu of their full restaurant located on the upper level.

Yelp
Mrs. K. and I came to the convention center to celebrate her 35th anniversary working as an RN for Mercy Hospital. There were 1000 people to serve and serve they did. My wife had the "chicken" I had the "beef". That was our choices. I will say the beef was not the best I have ever had. It was not the worst. Which makes it very good for convention food. Mrs. K. said the same about her chicken. The service was very good but really funny. The server asked our tables order 5 times and came back and repeated it wrong 4 times. God bless him. This was the only glitch the whole night. So proud of Mrs. K. and the dedication she had made to her career. And she is a damned good intensive care nurse.

Yelp
Shout out to Andrew who went the extra mile when I needed to buy Tylenol and guest services was closed for lunch. He not only radioed the manager to come open it up and sell it to me (thanks to her also) but he waited with me until she arrives. Excellent customer service!

Yelp
I'm leaving this review here because I feel that the convention center needs to be aware of a problem. There's an attached hotel that seems to be a very nice place. The problem is the HORRIBLE restaurant that shares the same space. Honestly, it's all part of the total package and the service was so terrible that I cringe at the thought of ever going back. The review for the actual restaurant is on their page but the convention center management needs to be aware of the problem too.

Yelp
This is one of my most favourite Convention Centers I've experienced in the world. I've had the honor & the privilege to visit, attend, and speak at a lot of convention center around the country and overseas and this one does it right! It's not huge - it's not tiny, it's just right! It's the Goldilocks of Convention Centers! Everyone who works there is friendly, ready to help, and just fantastic. Is it the famous Midwest hospitality or just professionalism? I don't know - but the end results is that conference attendees, speakers, and organizers can enjoy premiere service in a lovely conference setting! If you have the opportunity to attend a conference at this center, go! METC, the Midwest Education Technology Community conference is great here! LOVE IT! I really liked the AV Tech guys who were there to make things go smoothly! I don't know if they were in house or contract, but they were awesome! Thank you for your service!

Yelp
I come here several times a year for various shows and with each experience, I've never had a bad one. The center is always clean, the bathrooms are plentiful and its very inviting. There seems to always been enough space for the vendors. I do have to say the parking isn't the best, which is to be expected but I feel that maybe they should do a garage or something to accommodate better.

Yelp
Pretty nice convention center. Seems kept up and events here always go smooth. Bathrooms are easy access, hallways and event rooms are large, and there is a nice attached hotel that makes it easy for events. Tons of food within a mile also.

Yelp
Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Jurassic quest. It's a money making scheme. Every ride/activity is at least an hour long wait. There is no value for the money because you spend your time waiting and waiting. There are more people than "dinosaurs". Such a huge disappoint for my son. What a shame.

Yelp
Came here for the Professional Association of Innkeepers International (PAII) show just this week and was pleasantly surprised at how large and updated the space was. When initially seeing the location was thirty minutes outside St. Louis - already, not a city that I associate with conventions (at least not compared to New Orleans, Vegas, or Orlando) - I was bracing myself for the worst. But, after spending the better part of three days here, I can definitely say that I was wrong and both St. Charles and the convention center are pretty nice. The convention center has a ton of different meeting rooms and even a Starbucks-serving cafe inside it (though this was closed during our event). Lots of bathrooms and even a laptop/mobile phone charging area. MY only complaint is that the catering was a bit hit-or-miss; they did a good job on sandwiches and desserts, but hot meals (e.g. cheeseburgers) were overcooked and rubbery - but this was a relatively minor disappointment.

Yelp
I considered 4 stars instead of 5, but the construction that was such a pain was not the fault of the convention center. It made things a little more difficult for wedding party and guests. My experience in planning my wedding reception with Connie Barber was as easy as it could be. Connie made what could have been a really stressful thing, fun and NOT stressful. She had ideas to help me when I got stuck, I asked for her guidance on numerous occasions and she never steered me wrong. The food was AMAZING!! I STILL have people commenting about how wonderful our dinner was. The staff who worked our event was professional but FUN! I had ideas that I wanted to implement and Connie made every single one of them happen. The room was beautiful, the food was wonderful, the staff was fantastic. The fact that they are connected to the Embassy Suites was also a plus!

Yelp
I'm on the fence because on one hand this place was really nice and connected to the hotel we stayed in which is a huge plus. But there were not enough seats for everyone to sit and watch the competition. I had to stand the entire time. That doesn't really bother me but my friend is 4 moths pregnant and she didn't have a seat.
