My son and I just spent yet another lovely few days at this beautiful hotel . |We last stayed in May and felt that everything was just great . |This really is the most gorgeous location with Padstow just a five minute boat ride away . The walking experiences are incredible and the sea is just so captivating. |Obviously the food experiences are manifold . |The future plans look incredible almost too ambitious. |This hotel is great and the breakfast buffet which some people seem to complain about is fine . It just needs a nicer table / cloth and pretty bowls . The actual breakfast is perfect .

This is our second stay at The St Endoc and we plan to return every year. We would like to thank Jasmine on Reception who was absolutely outstanding, she is extremely friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble and helped us change rooms when I had a little issue with our other room. Zoe was also very pleasant. Most other staff were super friendly. Mike at breakfast is always welcoming and friendly. There are a couple of things that probably need improvement which is why I knocked a star off, I’d say the breakfast is very basic for this level of hotel, the cooked selection is fine but the buffet is very limited. Poached eggs were hard boiled a few times which is a pet hate. Also not being able to pick where you sit was annoying as we were told to sit at a certain table which we right next to another couple which was extremely close so to freely pick where you sit is something I’d like to be able to do in future. The biggest area of improvement needed is the lunchtime/afternoon service. Two separate days we had to go in to get served rather than someone coming out to us on the terrace. The most frustrating was Saturday when three other tables were getting attentive service, one family were not even staying at the hotel, whilst we did not once have anyone coming over to serve us (we were sat there for 3 hours) again we had to go inside to order, it was like we were invisible, again for the price point it’s rather disappointing so hopefully that changes next year. I didn’t really see the point in the van outside that served drinks as no one was ever in it serving which was odd. There are big changes coming for this hotel which look lovely I just hope that there will be enough staff and service level is at the right standard for this type of hotel.

We have been many times over the years and were interested to see|the impact of new ownership . The staff are all friendly and helpful and|housekeeping is very good . A special mention to Jasmine who was so |friendly and helpful .. a positive ray of sunshine during a wet and windy|few days ☀️ We preferred eating at The Mariners and I agree with a previous review that breakfasts could be better .... e.g. fresh bread and honey should be available on the buffet . I wish them well with their refurb .

We have been visiting this peaceful hotel for a number of years and understand that it changed hands in January 2025. It has lost some of its magic compared to previous visits but I hope this will be temporary as builders and, I think, architects were in evidence during the stay. The hotel is a typical seaside white building of not much significance situated up a small hill. There are around 20 rooms all simply but well furnished, modern, and kept scrupulously clean. The most expensive rooms have amazing views over the estuary with its ever changing tides and sand. We were on the side of the building in a "garden view" room - actually a view of a 30 foot hedge about 20 feet away. The room and bed are comfortable although the bath/shower room is uninspiring especially at over £300/night. We slept well with the excellent air conditioning and the room is a pleasant place to rest during the day. The dining room, again with great views, is a little utilitarian but fun when busy. Good, but not great, food is served although the menu is not extensive. It is easy to spend £40 or more per person even for a simple and small dinner. Breakfasts were disappointing with little in the buffet but a cooked menu is available. The staff were friendly and chatty and sometimes very busy due to lack of numbers although this did not affect the service. They are extremely helpful. Outside there is a terrace for drinks and gardens. Both looked rather tired and in need of TLC or a revamp. There was a large French van used as a mobile bar parked on the terrace bizarrely called "Maurice"! I never saw anyone order at it during our stay. The swimming pool is quite dated now and rather shallow for swimming but again not unpleasant certainly on the loungers. There are some world class walks nearby and also a short ferry across to Padstein. Up the road is the Mariners restaurant which is certainly worth a visit (also part of the "Ainsworth Collection'). You will have to be careful of the large number of Chelsea Tractors around when you walk there on the narrow or non-existent pavement. Overall we will look forward to returning in the expectation that the food will be much improved (not difficult for the new owners), the outside terrace and gardens are rejuvenated and the same wonderful staff are present.

It's 10 years since we last stayed here, the are some notable charges. The welcome is warm friendly and staff very helpful, it was early in the season so we were upgraded to a estaury view which was great. Slight plumbing problem with the shower only ran running on extremely hot meaning that a change of room next day, all done for us, to an even better room, better view and larger! The brasserie restaurant is good and breakfast in superb The entrance is extremely underwhelming at the top of the hill and what most would, consider as the back of the hotel,. There are subtle touches of the new owners and there are plans afoot to give the whole place an upgrade, which is likely to put it in the 5 star ratings. We enjoyed the whole trip which was a true Paul Ainsworth experience, eating in Rock two nights (the brasserie and the Mariners) and in Padstow, at fine dining Number 6. Thank you to the staff and we look forward to returning post renovations.

We have just spend 4 fabulous nights in this classic British seaside hotel. We booked very last minute and from the initial telephone booking and throughout our stay we had friendly first class service.|We have stayed here twice before, the last time over 5 years ago. Nothing has really changed apart from the new owners! Paul Ainsworth and his great team have taken on this hotel and I think they will turn this hidden gem into the crowning glory of Rock. |The hotel is classic seaside chic, beautiful gardens and stunning views. The rooms are simply furnished and are in need of an upgrade, but it really doesn’t matter as the staff, excellent food and stunning location more than make up for it. The communal areas are very well maintained and beautiful art is displayed which is available to buy. |We stayed with our two toy poodles and they where made so welcome, we never felt like we needed to hide them away, they where provided with lovely beds, towels and treats and all the staff made a huge fuss of them. |I treated myself to a facial/massage in the tiny Elemis spa, and it was lovely. I would definitely recommend trying it.|The breakfast and evening meals were outstanding, we could not fault them at all.|I’d say go soon as once Paul starts to upgrade the hotel it’s going to be sold out!

We stayed in a junior suite with our dog, which was a good size although lacking in drawer space. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and prepared to share ideas on what to do each day. The towelling bathrobes could have been slightly larger and there were no flannels. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of both continental and hot options.

Been before didn't think it could be topped. Wow, the effort gone into this place shows. Quality furnishings, great breakfasts with quality sourced food and home made granola. Met Paul Answorth what a lovely gentleman He has a great team and has done an amazing job Right down to having a mini fridge sent to room to store fresh milk Everything was top notch Can't wait to return, a premium hotel and it shows. Thank you for a really 1st class visit.

Yelp
My first visit to a two Michelin starred restaurant! Lovely taster menu. Favourites were the John Dory and the Pollack. Desserts were really great too. Nice friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Nathan Outlaw's food is well worth the price.
