Convince him to go to St. Felix. The bar/restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd. has a relaxed atmosphere (considering its location), solid food, and a happy hour that rivals just about anybody. The low-key cafe/bar along Santa Monica Blvd. has one of the better Happy Hours in Boystown (4 - 8pm and basically the entire menu is discounted), but with a much calmer atmosphere than its neighbors.
