St. Jardim - Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Starting at 7:30am most days, the dollhouse-sized St. Jardim functions as a cafe, serving lattes, toast, and breakfast sandwiches to a West Village crowd that seems to have few daytime obligations. At 5pm, it transitions to a restaurant and bar, although the mood stays mellow, with pairs catching up over cheese and skin contact wine. You can get a full dinner here, with options that range from cavatelli to wagyu hanger steak, but you can also just drink for an hour or two. The place is as casual as a living room, with magazines to browse and a library of low-intervention wines on the walls, and, though it does get crowded, there are usually a few open seats. If it's warm out, grab a sidewalk table, and enjoy some of the best people-watching in NYC." - Bryan Kim

Lovely wine bar in West Village. They have good outdoor seating and a large bar. They have a great selection of bottles and unique wines by the glass. Highly recommend putting your name on the waitlist and walking around the neighborhood.

Google
Great cozy vibes. Menu changes often and we loved all the bites we got. Interesting wine selection and recommendations were spot on. We spent $90 pp for 2 glasses and enough food to make us stuffed! Don’t miss the cavatelli or bread pudding.

Google
The salad was delicious, and the bread was high quality. Our waitress was very kind, skillfully moving us inside when outside seating rules didn’t allow rearranging chairs. Cozy bar, lively vibe — loud but adds charm!

Cute little heaven in the city. I got a coffee with friend which was awesome. Overall loved the vibe it’s cozy but very chic. Modern interiors add to the vibes I would definitely go again

Google
Lovely and cozy wine bar, has nice seating outside and inside, very cozy interior and friendly service. The wine list wasn't huge and we tried a few things that were ok but not outstanding. Would recommend for the atmosphere and vibe

Google
We stopped into St. Jardim just for a quick glass of wine and ended up staying much longer than expected—four glasses later, we were still enjoying ourselves. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing—cozy, inviting, and full of charm. What really made the experience stand out was the staff. They were funny, incredibly welcoming, and generous, creating a vibe that made us feel right at home. Even though we only had drinks, it’s a spot we’d absolutely come back to. Highly recommend

Google
Was on my list for a long time as it seemed to be always SUPER busy and packed. Simple food menu but most of them I tried were pretty good but the portion is a bit jokery lol. I didn't think I would get only 2 pieces when I ordered over $35 of steak. Kale salad was gem tho!

Google
My favorite wine bar in New York — St Jardim is a triple threat of great food & drink, atmosphere, and service. I inquired about hosting a birthday event here back in 2021 and they were highly accommodating of the request, going above and beyond to service us and make it one of my most memorable birthdays. Great place for brunch, dinner, drinks, and everything in between — a true institution over the years that I will continue to frequent!

Yelp
St. Jardim brought a huge smile to my face the second I walked in. Came here for a latter breakfast. While my breakfast was super simple I really liked it. The cappuccino was good as well as the croissant. Vibes of this place was amazing it was so small and also so relaxing. Not loud at all, music was perfect volume and I could 100% see my self sitting here journaling or reading. Was a bit expensive overall but I really enjoyed it here. Would love to come for wine sometime.

Yelp
I made a reservation for Friday evening for a dinner at St Jardim. It's been on my list for some time so I was excited to finally visit it. Reservation making was easy, so I really looked forward to visiting. Unfortunately, upon showing up on time it looked like the place was busy and they only offered bar area for us. I was not told when I made the reservation that it would be bar area. Also we waited for a while and the hostess seamed to be very slow (like when I showed up I waited for her to chat for a while with someone, they were just talking and ignoring customers). Nonetheless, I wanted to give the place a chance and they were nice about the wait. I appreciated that. But still the checking in and getting seated experience was not great. The menu has limited items for dinner, but the food was very good. The options for wine are interesting too. Orange wine is worth a try. I think overall, customer experience is what drove to 3 star. They acted very greedy and even told me "we are always booked out" as in don't expect a better table. I would, however, give it another try sometime later.

Yelp
Great place to catch up with friends! Inside and outside seating options, and quick service. Food was delicious, but a bit overpriced for what you get and definitely something you can recreate at home. I got the egg plate which was $15, and added on just a couple slices of avocado for a whopping $5. Crazy prices, but the eggs were perfectly soft scrambled and you could sort of do a DIY avocado egg toast with the sourdough. The sourdough was a bit too tough on the edges though (over toasted), making it a bit hard to eat the crust. Also got an iced cappuccino with almond milk, which was very good and hit the spot on a hot day.

Yelp
An excellent wine bar in the west village. I was initially drawn to this spot because it's a great place for people watching / French style outdoor bistro seating. However, the food was as great as the space. Everything was so fresh. We ordered the cavatelli, scallops, fried mushrooms and the sourdough. The scallops were amazing as they were topped with puffed rice and the bread and butter were house made. Our waitress was well knowledgeable on the menu which added to the experience.

Yelp
loved the food! slow but friendly service. good vibe, i'd come back if i wasn't in a rush

Yelp
Vibe was amazing. Packed for a Wednesday night but that's a good thing! Wine recommendations were top notch. Very nice and personable staff too!

Yelp
This place won't be your shutter place in NYC. The rain was heavy and we just would like to find a table under the owing, the guy told us they can't accommodate, even we offered hundreds bucks order.
google avatar

Yelp
We've called the West Village home for three years, and almost every Friday, we've found ourselves here--our neighborhood coffee spot (and occasional pre-dinner). From the friendly staff to their small bites, this is exactly the kind of place I'd want someone to recommend if I were visiting a new city.

Yelp
Wait staff is awesome. Toby specifically was great and gave us the best recommendations. Everything we ate was the best we had ever had. This place became an instant favorite

Yelp
This was such a cute wine bar but man was it crowded on a Saturday afternoon. There's a bar, a communal table, and so,e outdoor seating. The menu is short but sweet. There's a wine list along with food and coffee. Based on all the wines I saw arranged on the shelves, they seem to have an extensive collection. I had an orange wine that was tropical and refreshing, though if I keep paying $15+ for glasses of wine I'm going to go broke real fast. It sort of felt like the server was rushing us out. We weren't even finished with our glasses before she started asking us what we wanted to drink next. The seating situation was also confusing. It would be a nice place to catch up with friends if you don't mind how loud it gets.
google avatar

Jacqui L.

Yelp
As others have said, it will be crowded and you will be rushed out if you are there on a Friday night. Having said that, the sour dough was good and the waiters could still muster a smile. I suppose I will return on a morning one of these days and see how the brunch is.

Yelp
Cute little cafe, great atmosphere, yummy food, gorgeous dogs. I usually find American portions way too big, they're perfectly sized here (imo).

Yelp
have been for both din and brunch-- would honestly only rec for the latter good vibes but space is small and din plates r kinda pricey for what they're worth (potatoes and cukes r good) prime wv real estate so perfect ppl watching spot though!!

Yelp
This is a really cute wine bar in West Village. Good vibes, not too loud. Good for friends and dates. Small space inside so be sure to make a res!

Yelp
A bit of the "we are the hot and hip WV restaurant vibe" Celery Root Lasagna is our favorite. Unexpected, tasty, and feel not too guilty eating it. Halloumi & Fig was good but almost like a sheep taste tofu dish. Sea Bream & White Asparagus - really enjoy this one as well even though not much surprising flavor. Eggplant Dip - I don't like eggplant in general but I enjoyed this dish.

Yelp
Stopped by here with a friend for a glass of wine and a cocktail. We were seated within 5 min of walking in on late Friday night and staff was super friendly. Had a great cozy and warm feel. The wine list is very impressive and the martini was delicious - so will be back again.

Yelp
Beautiful West Village cafe/wine bar. Super cozy with delicious eats under $20. Absolutely loved the vibes, the natural light, and the service was really pleasant. Matcha w/ oat milk: the most beautiful matcha! Love that it was unsweetened and actually tasted nicely bitter. For $5.50 its pricing is pretty standard. Drip coffee: Super smooth, not too bitter. I'm not a coffee drinker but I really enjoyed this one! ($3.50) Mediterranean Sandwich: Tasted soooo good! The chicken was super tender. $18 is a bit pricey for a sandwich but it was delicious. Breakfast Sandwich: Really good, albeit pretty small. $11 and one of the cheaper food options. I'd come back for the drinks and the vibes. There's a no laptop policy so the environment is conducive for reading and conversing! Note: - Indoor and outdoor seating

Yelp
St. Jardim in the West Village is a natural wine bar serving elegant shareable plates. For dinner we shared a bottle of chilled red and split cheese and charcuterie, whipped labneh, scallop crudo, and cavatelli with asparagus and egg yolk. Dessert was a panna cotta topped with strawberries. We like St Jardim for its bustling central location, good wine list and perfectly portioned shared plates.

Yelp
Walked into this corner shop restaurant unaware of the hostess (she was wearing all white). Truly didn't see the stand and it was an honest mistake (and I did apologize earnestly). However, after that hiccup I wasn't given a menu, water, or glass unlike all the other guests after my faux paux by the hostess. Those who were sat by the bar post my mistake were treated differently for sure so the slight in my opinion was intentional and childish. An honest mistake was met with a degree of petty childlike customer service...such a bad look. I was definitely turned off and ready to leave this review and just leave. The bartender however saved the day and was chill, bright and kind. The non alcoholic wine (don't judge me) was delicious (Muri)! So tasty. And the ricotta gnocchi special was divine! I needed this wind down after a long day of memorial planning for a dear friend. I will come back and I hope that the hostess doesn't treat me like dog food while giving me the evil eye during a dining experience after making a mistake again. Food is actually a 5 Service is a 1

Yelp
Popped into St. Jardim on a cloudy Saturday afternoon for a casual bite and a coffee. I can't imagine a place better suited to meet our needs! It had a certain down to earth feel to it, but still formal enough to turn into a wine bar in the evening. Service was friendly too. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the veggie toast. Both were BOMB!
google avatar

Kobsupang R.

Yelp
St. Jardim once again delivered. We were more than satisfied with the meals & coffee! Tip: It can get super busy for weekend brunch since it's first come, first served so show up early to avoid the wait.

Yelp
Always enjoy coming here. The wine list is extensive which can be a little overwhelming but the service is really knowledgeable and friendly and gives great recommendations. The place is pretty small and fills up quickly so it's safer to get a reservation vs walking in. But the vibe is nice and you can't beat the location.

Yelp
A cute, relatively new spot in the west village that's a cafe / wine bar! I came for a light dinner with a friend and it was a really cute albeit snug space with just a couple of tables and seats at the bar. The place was pretty full when we arrived but we managed to get seats at the bar. We started with espresso martinis, which were very heavy on an orange liqueur flavor, sticky sweet and light on the espresso flavor. I'd probably try a different drink next time as these were our least favorite item from the menu. For food we got was delicious. We started with their bread + dip which came with beautifully toasty sourdough and amazing cashew muhammara and garlic labneh dips. I loved the texture of the cashews and the garlic had the perfect kick. We also got the Mediterranean chicken sandwich which I highly recommend. The chicken was nice and tender and the garlicky spread with the pickles and fresh greens was an amazing combo. I wish it wasn't $18 but it's a great sandwich. I think this is a great place to swing by for some drinks and a little snack. The ambiance was intimate but lively and the food was great.

Yelp
New cafe/restaurant where Bar Sardine was, where the most noticeable thing when I stopped by today was how many horrible people there were sitting on their laptops with a single coffee taking up pretty much the entire restaurant preventing other customers from sitting with food. Luckily a two top took the hint as we waited for food and we were able to snag a table as all of the laptop zombies in their AirPods didn't budge as more people entered standing around trying to figure out how and if they should order food to stay. If you are lucky enough to get a spot, the Mediterranean Chicken Sandwich ($18) is excellent, as is the Muhammara & Labne ($15). I would definitely try returning for dinner once that menu expands, and hopefully the coffee mooches would be less severe at night.

Yelp
This was a cozy spot for drinks with a friend; lovely atmosphere. Would recommend the sourdough as well!
google avatar

Yelp
I love coming here for lunch or coffee and a pastry. There is very limited seating inside and outside. The food is simple but great. There is also wine evening that I have yet to get a chance to attend.
google avatar

Yelp
Really great wine bar. The atmosphere is fun even on a weekday night. The wine and service are both great
google avatar

Bea C.

Yelp
Terrible service. Server completely ignored us as the table who sat minutes after us continued to receive full service. Mind you, we were right next to them. After finally glancing our way (which at this point the table next to us has begun to receive their food) she asked "did you want to dine in today?" What?? No, I want to watch you serve everyone around us?!? I was flabbergasted by the question. Food was good, as well as the coffee.

Emerson I.

Yelp
I probably wont come back here. Great experience until the hostess wearing the striped sweater ruined it all. An expensive wine bottle was about to fall from the fridge. I wanted to help her by giving advice, and she screamed at me "DONT SCREAM, CHILL...." Not the best way to treat a customer especially one trying to help you. Not cool.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Fun date spot, was filled with young and hip locals. I went here mainly for a place to have a drink and was pleasantly surprised by their food. Raw oysters were fresh and the sourdough bread was pretty good. I wouldn't necessarily come here seeking food but I absolutely would come back for another drink.
google avatar

Gerald N.

Yelp
Came for their wine which was a great time! They have an extensive menu to choose from and their service was very friendly and knowledgable. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they have a food menu as well. I would definitely be back for more wine or with food!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice spot to grab brunch or a glass of wine. Menu is limited but the food is reasonable.

Yelp
I wish I could gatekeep St. Jardim but this spot deserves for the world to know how amazing it is! Morning, noon, night - any day of the week and any time of day. The service is fantastic, the drinks are incredible (coffee and cocktails!), the vibes are immaculate, and the chef outdoes themself each time! Switching up the menu with seasonal favorites, each dish is better than the last.

Yelp
Cute wine bar in West Village - Wines: not as large a selection by the glass as I had hoped, but everyone was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. 4/5 Food: was very mediocre. The cucumber particularly was fairly tasteless. 2/5 Ambiance: was fun. Nice little place to catch up with friends or go on a date. 4/5.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood cafe with an amazing, concise, menu. The staff was very attentive and each plate was prepared surprisingly quick and was plated beautifully. They have a very good wine selection as well. The only area of comment is the music inside can be a little loud at times. Overall definite recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. The spiced pear latte was amazing. We ordered the yogurt and granola and the omelette. Both were really good and fresh. Highly recommend this spot for a healthy breakfast. The outside patio is nice!

Yelp
Great new cafe/wine bar that channels all those effortless, Parisian chic vibes that one needs in life! I stopped by with some friends on a Friday night and we loved the 80s playlist and more importantly, the natural wine selection! Our server was super friendly and spot-on with her recs: a fun, grippy white and a surprisingly complex Beaujolais that was a real crowdpleaser. I didn't eat anything beyond the anchovy olives (delish by the way) but my friends really enjoyed the unique flavor profile of their veggie tartines. I'll definitely be back to try the full dinner menu!

Michael E.

Yelp
Good vibes, solid drinks, good service. Food for dinner was mid, and outrageously expensive (even for the WV).

Robert H.

Yelp
A small wonderful spot in the Village. Grab a coffee have a little bite. It works well alone or a couple. Service with a smile.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
Coffee was fine but can't use laptops and they won't tell you that until you've already purchased a coffee. Someone else sitting right at the counter had a laptop as well so I was confused. Almost $7 for an almond milk latte.

Yelp
I saw alot of great reviews for this restaurant so I decided to have my birthday dinner here on a Tuesday night. There was only 4 of us and we all left feeling very unimpressed with the service. We were rushed and when we'd ask for more water or bread or anything, these things were done with attitude. My friend had brought a cake and asked them to secretly hold it for her (called 4 times to confirm) and thought maybe this was why they were being rude. I'm not sure what the deal was but it put a damper on the night. The food portions were also much smaller than I would expect. It was surprisingly loud and felt very crowded. I would recommend visiting on off-hours or with 1 other person not a group. Also, at the end of our meal the server said that 20% tip was automatically included. I wasn't expecting that and never saw anything written about this anywhere. I tip normally but was a bit surprised by that. Also the bread with anything comes with 3 slices (we were clearly 4 people so we asked for more) but it's $3 extra and not particularly worth it. The location itself is very beautiful and cute. Although wish I picked somewhere with better food and kinder people.
google avatar

Liz T.

Yelp
Nice to have a neighborhood natural wine bar. Caught up with some girlfriends over a glass of rose at the bar. Clientele ranges from out of towners to locals enjoying a coffee with their book. Can get a little crowded and there's only one restroom. However worth a visit for sure!

Shantal D.

Yelp
A must! Food and coffee were yummy! This little cafe made me feel like I was in Paris
google avatar

Yelp
Cool spot right at a busy corner with bright lights, big windows, and cozy atmosphere. Came here on a Sunday morning to meet some friends. Food is delicious, as is their coffee. Very very nice vibe, good energy. I love the epicurean goodies you can purchase to take home as a decadent treat for later

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere The wine was amazing Was very happy with the ambience and the charcuterie. I usually come during the day to relax but my evening experiences were always welcome

Nick C.

Yelp
St. Jardim feels like if a coffee shop was a hug. If a bar was a fireplace on a winter night. I've come here on a date and it was my first time - very great, lowkey but also loud enough to have a conversation privately. Drinks (dirty chai) was amazing and would get again. The vibe of the speakeasy is stellar with near baristas who are kind and compassionate. First date or meeting w/ friends, St. Jardim is a beautiful spot to share a moment.

Yelp
My wife and I popped in here on a whim after we visited the iconic Three Lives & Co. book store down the road. We had excellent drinks in a charming environment with a terrific server. Wish our receipt had her name. She is a ABBA fan. :)

Nate F.

Yelp
fantastic vibe; coffee or breakfast. baristas are cool and everything on the menu slaps

Akhtar Q.

Yelp
Stumbled in on a Monday morning for a quick coffee and I was instantly charmed. The staff was friendly and the vibe was welcoming. I had a perfectly balanced oat cappuccino and a croissant that was fresh and lightly crisp. Seems like a great place for lunch and evening drinks.
