"Known for its reefs and rainforest, the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands is for the couple who feels at home in nature. "Caribbean bar and restaurant the Longboard will open at the beach address in 2020. The Longboard’s original store opened in 2015 in the U.S. Virgin Islands on St. John. Owners Clint Gaskins and Tyler Beckstead originally hail from Charleston. The food pulls inspiration from the islands with an emphasis on seafood, tropical produce, and coastal flavors. A glance at the St. John’s menu shows multiple selections of ceviches and poke bowls, grilled fish tacos, lobster tacos, island wings, and more. The bar will have plenty of tropical drinks, including frozen cocktails. Longboard culinary director/partner Kenny Claxton will oversee the Lowcountry menu, but is searching for an executive chef for the Sullivan’s Island outpost of the Longboard. Look for the Longboard to open early 2020." - Erin Perkins
