MICHELIN Guide Malta: “Living room cheeses” and farmhouse cheeses in Malta

"A smallholding in Siggiewi where cheesemaker Anthony Farrugia tends about 250 sheep yielding just over 100 litres of milk a day, this farm feeds its flock on oats, barley, sweet corn and dried Alpine wild grasses from Italy to produce characterful sheep’s milk. A retired chef and professional cheesemaker, Farrugia sells an impressive range on the farm and to a few MICHELIN-starred restaurants, from traditional Ġbejna, pecorino and ricotta to some 18 varieties including cheeses matured four months in Alpine hay for a sophisticated flavour. To refine taste he uses saffron, powdered fennel pollen, truffles, fig leaves, peppercorns, and sun-dried tomatoes and chilli powder from his own produce, while seasonal cheeses during the olive and grape harvests are rubbed with olive pulp or wine pomace for a unique profile; he also supplies sheep’s milk to David Mifsud and Mark Xerri for their artisanal, small-scale creations." - Guide MICHELIN

Stumbled upon the farm stand while staying in the area. The property is well kept and very pretty. Couldn’t help snapping a bunch of pics! There are live animals on the property that you can visit with. The beer shed is open Friday and Saturday nights. The farm stand offers many farm fresh offerings from eggs, jellies, steaks, body care and art work. There were so many things that I wanted to purchase to try! Settled on some handmade jewelry for my girls and some goat milk body care products to try.

St Joseph Farmstand is a great place you can find all local meats, veggies, fruits and canned goods. They host many Farmers market events and crafters events. They also host classes to teach others about farming. The livestock on the property along with the historic building make this even better. Family friendly! They have some market nights where you can get your local fix but also the Beer Shed!

We were so excited for November 1st to come so we could visit the farm & go on a hayride. The harvest event started at 10am and we arrived at 10:30am. We used our GPS and arrived to nothing! The only guest entrance we saw was closed with a chain & cones. We drove to the dead end and turned around and someone on a golf cart removed the cones but didn't remove the chain from the guest entrance so we could get inside. I was beyond excited for a harvest celebration and had to go home! Why post a harvest event on AllEvents that no one can access. There were no cars or people out. I don't understand! I googled the St. Joseph Farm and it states that it is closed today!

The girls got me out tonight lol tried something a little different which was the Saint Joseph’s Farmers Market. So many cool vendors, live music, good food, and, most of all, fresh Arkansas grown produce. One of my favorite vendors was Buttered by HER. Some of the best smelling body and hair oil without the residue. Will definitely be ordering soon! This is a great family oriented event for all ages! Highly recommend and will be back in the fall for the harvest time!

You must check this place out! We stopped through the area and utilized our harvest host membership to park overnight in their parking lot. They have a great farmstead shop and the building is beautiful.

Beautiful facility, I was allowed in to photograph the grounds and volunteers who are working hard to restore the facility to its previous status. It was the home of so much love for so many over the years, and yet received love from too few and because of this, the facility is in the state it is. The nonprofit organization that is running the place now could really use the help, if you are looking for a worthwhile cause to contribute to with time or financial aid, I am sure they could use the help!

Nice selection of fresh produce, herbs, and baked goods. Beautiful grounds. Would like to come back for a tour. Tours are 2nd Saturday of the month.

What a great place! Peaceful beautiful natural and historical setting tucked behind Camp Robinson. You can shop the farm stand, tour the grounds and community garden, watch the farm animals, take family photos or just sit and enjoy the fresh air. Good variety of locally grown or ‘homemade’ foods. Adorable curious farm animals who enjoy being fed by hand! (for a small donation you can get food from the stand) And super friendly and helpful volunteers!

Yelp
Wonderful offering for the NLR/ Camp Robinson area. It is held on Saturdays beginning May and offers fruit, veggies, meats, and other local goodies. The grounds are beautiful and historic. Check out the special events that often occur on the second Saturdays they are open.
