St. Joseph's

We stayed for 12 days. Perfect location 2 streets away from Stradun in the middle of the Old Town. Restored rooms in a 500 years old building. Made to look authentic but really only renovated about 10 years ago. It was a ruin before that. No view. But safe refuge from the chaotic crowds of cruise ship passengers flooding the old town. The room itself was large, characterful, comfortable king sized bed, with good storage and bathroom. But the ceilings and floors are thin and there is very poor sound insulation. As a result sound travels from other rooms. The people above woke at 4.30 am and talked loudly to one another for 2 hours (they were American) before banging around with their luggage when leaving. The staff explained ‘we had an early check out’! Most nights we could hear neighbours talking like they were in our room. Outside we heard the daily workers starting at 6.00 am every morning banging bottles and rubbish etc in the alleyways and the noise from the nearby restaurants until 11 pm. Ever night. The breakfast was nice but the same each day and had to be booked for the same time each day. The ‘coffee machine was broken’ so we couldn’t get a cappuccino. But the coffee in a pot was okay and grew on us. The house keepers were excellent and served breakfast in our room every morning. Overall an excellent hotel. But we may not stay in the old town again and certainly not for long. The accessibility to the old town is maybe good for a few days but the tourist hordes are something that we wanted to avoid, yet they were horrendous in the old town as they came of the many cruise ships, so we hid in our hotel room to avoid the them. The room was a great place to escape.

We loved our stay at St.Joseph’s Boutique Hotel. The reception by Nemanja and Stefan was friendly and helpful, even before we arrived. Our airport pick up was waiting when we arrived even though our flight was late in. Nemanja met us at the old city gates and helped us with our bags to the hotel. It’s perfectly placed in a quiet side street but just off the bustling centre. The rooms were fresh, authentic, spacious, immaculately clean and nicely laid out. Our room had a kitchenette and dining table. Continental breakfast was served in our room every day. We decided on the timing each day. If you are looking to fill up for the day, you may wish to visit a local bakery later on, but for those that are happy with a continental breakfast, it was fine and very fresh. The special smoothy is delicious! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated. I’d thoroughly recommend it if you want something special and not just a chain hotel with ‘identikit’ rooms. We loved our stay at the hotel. LOVE. Extermely attentive staff that even before your arrive replies to emails quickly, but when you get there they make sure that everything is perfect for your activities. We chose to get guides via the hotel and were extermely happy. Breakfast is service in your room. Pro Tip it might be too much food but just ask for less. The location cannot be better quite, very comformatable rooms. If you coming to Dubrovnik staying here is ideal.

We stayed here for two nights. What a treat. It was so lovely to have a hotel right in the center of the old town. The staff could not have been nicer; they consistently went out of their way to help us. If you are concerned about getting your luggage to the hotel, don't worry, the staff will meet you and bring it to the hotel for you. Loved our stay.

This is a quaint, nice hotel. Breakfast and service are excellent. It's a good location. Rooms are on the small side but that's to be expected. Lots going on right outside. My only complaint is that a local gentleman/neighbor and kitchen staff were out in the street in front of the hotel smoking all night. Even though our window was closed, I could smell cigarettes all night which was very unpleasant and it kept me awake. We stayed in the Annex on the middle floor. It might be better in the main hotel. Personally I would not stay here again for that reason.

We enjoyed our stay at St Joseph’s. The location is perfect and right in the center of downtown. Breakfast was delivered to our room each morning. The staff was very helpful. The room was great. We highly recommend St Joseph’s!

My husband and I had an incredible stay at St. Joseph's during our honeymoon this month! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and gave great recommendations for things to do and restaurants to try. The location is perfect for exploring the old town - everything was just a few minutes' walk away! The suite was extremely clean, the mattress so comfortable, and the AC worked beautifully! We will definitely stay again the next time we're in Dubrovnik!

Our family of four stayed two nights. This is the perfect hotel to explore Old Town, especially at night with the cooler weather. The hotel booked a private boat tour to the Elafiti Islands that was fabulous (boat tours are by far what makes Croatia unique compared to other US and European sea destinations). The hotel also booked a walking tour of the wall at 8:00 am that was great. There are a lot of luxury hotels in Dubrovnik, but most require a drive to Old Town, which does not allow cars, and are more modern and impersonal. We preferred staying in Old Town for a short stay to really experience the charm and then heading to the islands with fewer crowds. We really enjoyed St. Joseph’s staff and breakfast that they pick up locally each morning. A much more intimate, unique experience than the massive resorts.
