St. Marks Burgers and Dogs - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"St. Marks Burgers and Dogs sells, unsurprisingly, meat in buns. In the former location of Glizzy’s, this place grinds their beef in-house, and deep fries their hot dogs (like Hiram’s in Fort Lee). They’re open until 2am on Thursday-Saturday. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

My partner & I stopped by a month or so ago and it was late so, the owner had to grind up more meat and since we did not have enough time , he told us to come back and he would hook us up. Boy did he hook us up!!! The burger was so juicy and flavorful. The cheese was perfectly melted and that sauce ?! Delectable. It was so good that we wanted to lick the tin foil with the extra juices ( we did ). This is a must go. Next time we hope to try the Dominican burger ( Chimi) as I am Dominican 😏. The owner makes sure to tell you that the meat is grounded in house and that makes all the difference as someone who is very conscious about the food they are consuming. You’re safe and taken care of here.

The first time ate a hamburger here, it was tiny but it hooked me with a delicious taste I never had before. I never did get that taste again though, maybe I got used to it. I tried all their types burgers, they're all great. Except the Dominican one, it's much bigger then the other small burgers, but it was bland and not to my taste. The burger patty size is inconsistent. Kinda small usually. But what stands out to me here isn't the burgers, but the hot dogs when you get them with toppings. They load it in a way that it wasn't just a squirt or just some plain bits. Same with the loaded fries. Although because of that, you shouldn't leave them for later, the fries under will get soggy. The brownie was cool.

After months of elusivness and not being able to catch them open, I really wanted this place to be good - and it wasn't bad, but it didn't compare to other recently open burger joints. I thought the fact that it wasn't a cookie cutter "smash burger" joint would play into it's favor with me, but it didn't. The burger was over salty, lacking any distinct flavor that set it apart from other burger joints. There was only one guy working, and he was nice enough, but the service was pretty slow. The only thing I really enjoyed was the gritty feel of the restaurant felt like St. Marks place should, and the music the restaurant had playing was top notch. I'd be willing to give it another shot, but with Pete's around the corner, Butter burger down the block, 900 7th Street Burger locations, and Gotham burger within a reasonable distance, this spot gave me no reason to choose them over the massive competition.

Google
Craved a chili dog and found this place on my walk home. It was so good I had to go back a few days later. While I was waiting for my order, Felipe gave me a burger to try. I didn’t think anything could top the dog, but I was wrong. It was one of the best burgers I’ve had in NYC—juicy, perfectly seasoned, with thin onions and a special sauce that pushed it over the top. I’ll definitely be back soon for a hotdog AND now a burger too.

Google
I was really hungry and looking for something to eat and almost everything around was already closed. I saw this place and decided to step in. The guys there were super friendly and made me feel welcome right away. They suggested the double cheeseburger, and honestly it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. Really juicy and full of flavor. Their hot dogs are great too. The vibe in this place surprised me in a good way. You can tell they put a lot of care into what they do. I totally recommend it. The food is genuinely delicious.

This dude talked to me and my friends for like 20 minutes while he cooked in front of us and about 10 minutes into the conversation I knew I was in for the best burger I’d ever have . I was right and those chili fries were insane. Came back to give him my review and he gave me a free brownie. The man. The owner was also the only guy working. The boss.

Google
I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and Philippe was so warm and welcoming during my time there. He took great pride in the quality of his ingredients and his cooking process and it showed in the cheeseburger and disco fries I ordered. Fresh meat, perfectly cooked and wasn’t greasy at all. The onions were crispy and juicy. The disco fries were also piping hot, fresh and equally amazing. He just opened the restaurant recently so he was essentially taking on the work of 4 people while he builds up his staff. He apologized for any delay (even though there was none!) and even gave an extra cheeseburger. As incredible as the food was, this is by far the best EXPERIENCE I have had since living in NYC. His story, his food, his passion and kindness are what makes New York such a special place. I will be coming back to try everything on the menu. The owner deserves all the love and success in the world for his hard work and delicious food. Absolute must visit if you are in the area!!!

Google
Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever had—juicy, flavorful, and topped with their signature sauce, pickles, and caramelized onions. The atmosphere was inviting, giving a “lived in” look. It’s clear that the owner is passionate about his business and the food he is cooking- and there is nothing more beautiful than that. Skip the chains like Smashburger and eat locally. This place delivers real, homemade flavor with heart and passion behind every bite

Yelp
My first thought when I saw the Double Cheeseburger...so small! But after tasting it, is so delicious. Burger patty is thick, good meat to bun ratio. Still wish it was a little bigger. Fried Hot dog chili was decent. Definitely coming back for burgers.

Yelp
Im always in the mood for a delicious juicy burger that's well seasoned and freshly made. You can't fake flavorful rich food. It was a lovely spot for burger and fries. I enjoyed myself. Staff was welcoming. Very clean

Yelp
The burgers are so good no cap. Love the thinly sliced onions, crispy edges, and REAL cheese. the owner is such a G. So affable and friendly. Idk why the other review is so bad. And shoutout to Rocco, the part time worker. Also got the chili cheese dog which was quite messy but I devoured it.

Yelp
Places like this are why I moved to new york city. No frills burger/hotdog spot with an authentic old new york feel. You walk in and can see owner Philippe at the grill cooking everything up. Cash and venmo only. Seating available or you can do takeout. We had dinner there and talked to Philippe while he made the food. He's very nice and makes everything from scratch, including grounding the burger meat in house and making the chili sauce from scratch. We had the cheese burgers, fries, and hot dogs. They gave us a free side of chili. Everything was delicious! Very classic feel. Prices are reasonable and they have a pretty big menu for just recently opening. I loved this place

Yelp
This place is the BombZ. The owner is amazing and the food is truly worth it. Good customer service every burger served to my group was amazing. Not kidding. It will become one of our favorite weekend spots before the bar and after.

Yelp
This place is so random. It opened recently on St. Marks with 0 fanfare. It still looks unfinished even though I've seen people in there. When I asked for a burger and my friend brought them to my place, I was excited to try it out because I was so intrigued. Unfortunately, I will not be back. This is the smallest burger I've ever had. It was barely bigger than a slider. To be fair, they're cheap, but they're very similarly priced to 7th Street Burger, which is leaps and bounds better and bigger. It was unclear to me if the burger was supposed to be a smashburger or not. It had the fixings of one: sauce, pickles, but the patty was a bit too thick. However, the patty was too thin, in my opinion, to be a solid regular burger. The sauce was horrible; as you can see in the picture, it was loaded with sauce and extremely messy, and the sauce was so peppery that it wasn't appetizing. It made the bun soggy on both sides. I wasn't really impressed with St. Mark's Burgers and Dogs. Maybe I need to try the hot dog or fries.

Yelp
This spot is amazing, are you drunk right now? Do you want to feel fulfilled and happy? Are you sober and you want an old school dog? Are you young, 20 something and want to know how your grandparents ate when they walked down st marks on the prowl for a good time? Eat here, it's phenomenal. It's giving Rut's Hut, it's giving food joy. I'm sure the Germans have a word for it, it's good

Yelp
I was walking by on Thursday night and decided to step into this place and I'm so glad I did. I tried the burger and hot dog and both were incredible. The flavors really stood out! I also had the chance to meet the owner, who was very friendly and welcoming. It's clear they care about the food and the customer experience. I'll definitely be going back for more.

Yelp
Great burger. Cool owner. Great value, hole in the wall burger joint. Highly recommend for a quick bite

Yelp
This place rules. Unreal chili cheese dog. Perfect double cheese burger. Great ambiance. Philippe and the other girl working (sorry don't know your name) were awesome.

Yelp
This is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. The restaurant has a casual vibe but with plenty of counter space to eat. The owner was working the grill alone but still great to talk to and dining at his establishment was a delight. Will be back many times

Yelp
Single greatest burger I've ever had in my life. Owner talked to us and walked us through his whole process. Every aspect of the cooking process is well thought out and it is very clear he has spent years of his life perfecting his recipe. Will be back!
