New Orleans’s Essential Irish Pubs | Eater New Orleans

"Just blocks away from Bourbon Street is this hidden hangout that may not look like a stereotypical Irish pub found in America, but might more closely resemble one actually found in Ireland. The counter-service, dog-friendly shop is known for its courtyard, its Irish Coffees, and its whiskey flights. Cozy up at this sweet spot until 11 p.m. on weekends, later than any other coffee shop in town, that’s for sure." - Eater Staff

Google
Friendly and incredible service. You can get an Irish coffee but no other liquor. I had a cold mocha late, the others with me got a vanilla latte and a hot chocolate and it was all amazing. We sat outside on their courtyard patio and it was beautiful! They played songs by Irish performers but the music wasn't too loud, just great ambiance. We walked right in on a Sunday and there was no wait. We sat out side for awhile and a few groups came and went. It was very lovely and relaxing

Google
Great coffee shop with good coffee. Had heard a lot about their Irish coffee but didn’t get to try it because they are having trouble with their liquor license. Coffee is excellent though. Beautiful courtyard area that’s nice and relaxing. Great spot .

Google
owner was super friendly. cozy pub vibe with great coffee and whiskey selection. lots of cool irish photos and info to look at as well

Google
I think this is my favorite place in the quarter. Its really whatever you want it to be. Perfect for a grad student wanting a place to read or study, perfect for whisky enthusiasts, perfect for people who want to do shots, perfect for people who love history (connected to an Irish history center). Open late, serves unbelievably good coffee, great pastries, and great ambiance. Close enough to the downtown university campus. I'll be coming here aloooot.

Google
Had a perfect iced coffee there on a hot summer day . Cool small Irish museum on site. Great ambience to sit down a little bit and check out the abundant books and knick knacks in the dining area. Barista Michael was helpful and welcoming. THEY HAVE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM MADE ON SITE, and it's really good. Not too sweet and not fake "homemade." I'd probably get a coffee here everyday if I lived in NO. **NOTE- they do not sell alcoholic beverages currently (as of June 2025), but that may change.

Google
The guy working (maybe the owner? Very Irish) was nice and knowledgeable. We got an Irish coffee and an espresso martini. The drinks were good and the atmosphere was great. Laid back, pretty patio space with lots of plants and brick.

Google
This hidden gem was the perfect place for a quiet moment, a drink and an espresso ice cream, great welcoming service and hauntingly beautiful live Irish music. This was the perfect break to the hustle and bustle and exactly what we needed. The Irish flag out front, a welcoming beacon to the courtyard, museum, and great drinks!

Virginia R.

Google
Great way to start our day ... twice! Best Irish coffee I've ever had. I think the atmosphere, the courtyard, the people, and the service all together made it that way. And a nice little birthday shot of Jameson sealed the deal. Definitely recommend and will definitely visit again!

Yelp
Probably the best drink I had all weekend in NOLA. Go figure. Cute little courtyard to hang out and decompress. Staff was helpful and gave a few suggestions.
google avatar

Yelp
Just the perfect lil spot to enjoy the quintessential New Orleans coffee or cocktail break. They have a menu that features espresso drinks, as well as seasonal (hot toddy alert) and their own specialty Irish themed drinks. I can see why they won the top spot in Yelp's Best Places to Drink in New Orleans list. There's just something special going on here. Seating is in the gorgeous courtyard complete with a fire pit and pretty lights and umbrellas and tropical plants. Such a respite from Bourbon Street 2 blocks over. And if weather is giving you pause, they have indoor seating by the coffee bar as well as the Irish Museum across the courtyard.

Yelp
I really wanted some coffee on my trip in New Orleans and it let me to a small coffee shop in the French Quarter. And I was pleasantly surprised with how nice my experience was! It's not a large establishment, there are not many seats so prepare to take it to go or drink it there! Their service was very nice and recommended me a drink. I got the irish coffee which was fantastic! Tasted great, with just the right amount of alcohol that wasn't overbearing, and it was served in a very nice cup. People trickled in and out so I finished my drink and left. It felt like a hidden gem with its location and I urge anyone else to stop by and give their coffee a taste :)

Yelp
As we were taking a nice walk around the French Quarter, we peaked through open doors and saw this adorable courtyard. We knew we were going to have to stop in and take a look around. You actually enter through a small museum, then walk through the courtyard into a cozy, drinking space. Everyone inside is friendly and Knowledgeable about the drinks they offer. It was warming up, so I was looking for something refreshing, and this snowball drink caught my eye. It was super sweet, which I love, and easy to drink. I love the vibe of this space, and the people made the experience memorable.

Yelp
The staff is very charming. Maybe a bit of Irish charm. This is a must go to after being out and partying all night. Sit back and just relax before starting all over.

Yelp
What a gem of a place. A little oasis in the heart of the City. We got there around 10 pm and were the only ones enjoying some quiet with some chill music and perfect outdoor weather. On top of that the young lady working at st pats has such a great personality and helped us find the perfect drink. I ended up ordering the Irish coffee and the Gaelic ginger because I could not make up my mind. Both were delicious. Very different but glad I tried both. Anyways - great spot to check out!!

Yelp
I was running early for an event in the FQ on a Sunday morning so stopped in this cute spot for a quick tea. As it was another steamy day in New Orleans, I was looking for iced, which they didn't really have but I was offered hot. I decided on a sparkling water instead AND a slice of banana bread. The courtyard is lovely and the barista was friendly and helpful. Unlike most coffee shops, they do have a full bar so if you need a bit of the hair of the dog... or you want coffee but your friend wants a cocktail then this is the place for you. Prices are reasonable and as with most places in the FQ, parking is on the street. The coffeehouse is behind the Irish Cultural Museum which is literally a single room.
google avatar

Yelp
You have to try several different flavors so we started off with an espresso martini and the fox and cubs. The bartenders were nice and informative. The seating area outside was peaceful and away from the NOLA crowds.
google avatar

William Y.

Yelp
My wife's hairdresser recommended St. Pats to my wife when they were discussing our upcoming trip to NOLA. Here we are! What a great recommendation! Slept in, then headed to St. Pats for morning coffee. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful venue. Quaint and intimate. Exceptionally clean. We both had Americanos. The coffee was excellent. They have an extensive coffee menu with a variety of libations. Their food menu is limited, which was fine with us as we were only an hour and a half from our lunch reservations. We plan to come back tonight after dinner for afffacados. Rating: Venue: Ambiance 5/5 Coffee menu: 5/5 Food menu: 2.5/5 Value: 5/5 Coffee: 5/5

Yelp
Excellent coffee! I ordered a latte and my husband ordered the Irish coffee which we enjoyed in their outdoor seating area. A must stop for a peaceful escape from Burboun st. We weren't greeted upon arrival, customer service could be better but all around a must try!
google avatar

Malisa R.

Yelp
Cute little coffeehouse right in the French quarters. Thanks to my girlfriend for recommending this place! I never would have found it. Love that the coffeehouse doubles as an Irish museum with a courtyard. There is a live Irish band on Sundays at 5:30pm. Bummed that we missed that! Once we entered, we were greeted by a friendly bartender and patrons. I decided to order the original, but classic Irish coffee. My husband ordered an espresso martini. I'm not a whiskey fan, but the Irish coffee changed my mind! It was so yummy. Perfect for a rainy day. My husband enjoyed his espresso martini, which was made the traditional way with vodka. We enjoyed our drinks inside the shop, which was nice and relaxing. Pretty peaceful spot for the French quarters. Wish we could have stayed there longer!

Yelp
This place's Irish iced coffees speak for themselves- truly the best I've ever had. A hidden gem must try!

Ashley J.

Yelp
I stopped in to get an iced Irish coffee and it was the single greatest alcoholic and coffee beverage I've ever had. I'm honestly debating walking back to grab another. The staff was nice and the ambiance was wonderful. If you're in the area, STOP BY!!!! Even if you don't like coffee, these drinks are still so good!
google avatar

Mendy G.

Yelp
Quaint courtyard on Conti St. charming quiet spot. Delicious Bloody Mary. Counter service.
google avatar

Michelle P.

Yelp
The Vibes are stellar and the Irish coffee is so good. We dream of coming back every time we leave New Orleans and it's a mandatory destination each day we are in the city

Michaela D.

Yelp
Such a cool experience!!! You walk in and feel like you're in Europe. You can browse the Irish fingers l room they have, then go in to the garden area and bar and order the best Irish coffee . They have an abundance of Irish whiskey and bourbon, stuff that's really hard to get! We sat on the patio and enjoyed ourselves so much! Micah took care of us and she was great. Come check out this place!
google avatar

Yelp
This quaint, tucked away coffee shop is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. The entrance is located in a cozy courtyard that's perfect for taking a break from the craziness that is the French Quarter. I ordered a simple iced Americano and it was one of the best I've had in recent memory. Had I known this place was so close to my hotel, I would have started every morning here. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
google avatar

Ameshia A.

Yelp
It was just what the doctor ordered. Conveniently located. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and laid-back. All I can speak on is the Irish coffee because that is all I had. It was strong and delicious and kept my party going.
google avatar

Emmanuel K.

Yelp
I'm so glad I stumbled across this place while in town for a music festival. They have an excellent selection of whiskey and they legit made the best Irish coffee I've ever had. It was literally the perfect ratio of coffee to alcohol and the taste was so on point. The bartender (I think he was also the owner) was very knowledgeable about all the spirits and very welcoming. He was very personable and talked about some of the history of the area. This place is a must try, loved it.

Yelp
If you're searching for the perfect Irish coffee in New Orleans, look no further than this charming coffee house. Jacob the Bartender not only served the best Irish coffee I've ever had, but he also created an unforgettable experience that left me wanting more. What truly set this coffee house apart was Jacob's passion for his craft. He took the time to explain the origins of Irish coffee and shared interesting stories about the traditional techniques he employed. His knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or simply in search of a delightful pick-me-up, this Irish coffee house is a must-visit. You'll be treated to the best Irish coffee you've ever tasted, and Jacob's expertise will make your visit truly memorable.

Yelp
Delicious iced Irish coffee and espresso martinis (made with Tito's). Super cute courtyard and air conditioned inside with sitting area. Hidden behind the Irish museum in the front. I had walked by many times not realizing what I was passing by. Many people are commenting that it is expensive, but I don't think it's any more than many other places in the quarter. When I stopped by, I met a friendly man from England. You never know who you'll meet while chilling out on a Saturday afternoon! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall great vibe.
google avatar

Sherellyn P.

Yelp
Courtyard is green and relaxing, love the coffee/cocktail mix to keep everyone satisfied. Would come again.

Yelp
It was the turn of 19th century and a young Charles McGuier was fresh off the boat from Belfast. What did he see before him... not just a port, not just a city called New Orleans, but he saw opportunity! In 1905 this young immigrant rolled the dice of fate and opened up something that was the first of its kind, an Irish bar. Fast forward 100 years and St.Pats Irish Coffeehouse is still family run and living up to the standards set by Grandfather McGuir and continue to provide a safe haven for Irish and weary travelers alike. Swing on in, order a Irish coffee, sit back, relax and enjoy the old fashioned New Orleans life.

Yelp
St. Pat's Coffeehouse was delicious!! Expresso Martini was to die for. Best Martini's in town. Mel, the bar keep was awesome. Will be back the next time I'm in Nawlins! #Alabamainnawlins #Bamababy
google avatar

Yelp
This was one of the best Irish coffee's I have ever had. Staff was super friendly and gave sage advice about French Quarter safety after 11pm. And there was a dog! Very exciting. You should go.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Great coffee! This is a cute little hidden gem in the French Quarter. Friendly (+ cute) staff :)
google avatar

Sophie E.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place, the regular coffee, Irish coffee, and London fog were awesome! We didn't want the Irish coffee to be too strong, so they gave us half the shot in the side! Sweet shop dog and very funny and friendly staff. The courtyard was gorgeous to hang out in around 11am. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
google avatar

Alissa D.

Yelp
This was the cutest little coffee bar! We walked in looking for some coffee and it did not disappoint. I ordered an iced lattee with vanilla and oat milk and it was delicious! The coffee was so fresh and very smooth. The vanilla and oat milk mixed together made for the perfect morning coffee. Luke helped us and was super nice and welcoming. I will definitely come back to this spot if I'm ever in town. Such a cool concept for coffee lovers!
google avatar

Stan G.

Yelp
Hesitant to give five stars here, because part of the charm is how remote and seemingly unknown this place it. Just off the street, you wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it. We were looking for a place to get irish coffees in New Orleans, and WOW did we find it. They are amazing, caffeinated or decaf, your choice of whiskey. Bartenders are all family and great story tellers if you get there at a quiet time. The garden is a fantastic place to get off Bourbon Street and relax. Absolutely love this spot, can't wait to get back.
google avatar

Trae G.

Yelp
Great little place. We came in for a hot tea and hot chocolate. VERY HOT drink with caution! Service was friendly and fast.
google avatar

Daniel E.

Yelp
St. Pat's is great! I wouldn't actually go for the coffee, though. The coffee is pretty bad. But the drinks are great! The people are friendly, and the service is exceptional. We're not talking about fine-dining, but we are talking about real Irish-Americans that you will undoubtedly want to be friends with!
google avatar

Rick H.

Yelp
A little hole in the wall with a nice courtyard. Friendly service and great recommendations to other establishments. They just need to increase their pastry offerings. But give them a try.
google avatar

Jerry M.

Yelp
The best oasis from the French Quarter crazy, without leaving it. Super nice staff, great selection of Irish whiskeys, excellent whiskey advice, a real espresso machine, and extremely tasty espresso martinis. We stop by at least once every trip, because it's that kind of place. Here's my standard: espresso to wake up and then a brilliant whiskey recommendation.
google avatar

Svetlana F.

Yelp
I stumbled across this coffee shop while trying to escape the massive crowds that descend on the French Quarter every day. It was quiet and had a little courtyard that connected to an Irish history lounge and a little coffee bar where you can get coffee with Irish spirits if you want. Our barista/bartender, Mike, was super nice and helpful. The atmosphere there is fantastic. I met some amazing people there just sipping my latte and it has solidified itself into one of my core memories. If you have the chance please stop by! I recommend the London Fog or if you want something a bit stronger: the Dublin Fog. Also, I apologize for the weird photo orientation. I had a very head empty moment today.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
I usually don't yelp up bars but this place is quaint and awesome with some badass thrown in for a unique mix. Start out with a truly Irish drink (Sin o Con booze) then step across the courtyard to the New Orleans Irish museum. The local family rebuilt this place from the Original plans from the 1800's. Great drinks that are very unique. Possibly the largest selection of Irish whiskeys I've ever seen. Coffee drinks that will Gag a goat. Truest pour of Guiness this side of Dublin. Hang with family and wear green or they will pinch you!
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
After walking by hundreds of times on my way to what is now my second favorite iced coffee in the city, I finally gave St. Pat's a chance to impress... and impress it did! Super chill, spotlessly clean, comfortable courtyard and cozy inside bar space with family history galore. Small museum with even more Irish memorabilia. The super friendly family who runs the bar will gladly talk Irish history for as long as you'd like to do so. As awesome as the space and service is, Irish cocktails are the real reason you're here, and I assure you that they are amazing. I was in the mood for an iced Irish coffee. Handmade. Not too sweet, not too strong... absolutely perfect! Can't wait to come back for more cocktails or one of their Irish whiskey flights... or a Guinness from the tap. I've got a feeling I'll be a regular.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
Delicious Irish coffee!! Recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing outdoor spot. Great drinks and vibe.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Great customer service and yummy cocktails. Cocktails weren't too sweet or too strong. Definitely just right. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Nicole W.

Yelp
Nice find for a elegant STRONG Irish coffee. Not cheap but it was delicious and made very well. Glad we found you-sitting in the court yard in the morning was peaceful. Service was great. Definitely will stop by again.
google avatar

Jess B.

Yelp
Get the espresso martini and the Irish coffee!!! I was surprised that they had nondairy options of oats and almond highly impressed!! Those gentlemen were working their tail ends off behind that bar and they were doing a damn good job. This place is nestled away from the street very cozy. Hard to find unless you're looking for it. Absolutely 100% recommend for a mid day pick me up.
google avatar

Chelsea K.

Yelp
We came here the morning after a verrrry long night. And let me tell you, the espresso martini was like a gift from god. The best espresso martini I've ever had! The courtyard was shady with nice breeze blowing through. I honestly just want to live there and drink espresso martinis all day:)
google avatar

Claire C.

Yelp
Great spot for coffee, offering non-alcoholic and alcoholic options. Love the outdoor sitting space! Friendly staff.
google avatar

Brandon G.

Yelp
First time here. Got the Irish Coffee, and it was delicious and nice pick me up. Got the San Patricio to-go and it was just as delicious. Located slightly away from the French Quarter but not a bad walk from where we were staying. I highly recommend this hole in the wall gem.
google avatar

Brian A.

Yelp
Great Irish coffee. Needed a pick me up and got it. Cool little bar off the beaten path of bourbon street. Definitely would come back.
google avatar

Saturday C.

Yelp
It's a really cute establishment with an Irish museum in the front and a coffee house in the back, sandwiching a charming courtyard. The drinks are delish and the service is excellent, it's a bit pricey but fair taken account of the museum.
google avatar

Duane C.

Yelp
OMG the Irish Coffee here is fantastic! We found this place to be a nice quiet oasis from the madness of nearby Bourbon Street. There's an Irish museum next door that we didnt have time to check out but it looked interesting.
google avatar

Zhenchao Z.

Yelp
Irish style coffee is superb. The host is very welcoming and knowledgeable about to-go places nearby. Visiting it on a daily basis during my stay.
google avatar

Richard P.

Yelp
Good beer. Good prices. If you're into pool, even better deal. Welcome all Brits and Irish.
google avatar

Jade E.

Yelp
I LOVED this place! Such a wonderful atmosphere and so different than the typical coffee shops in New Orleans! The people that own it use family recipes for their cocktails and their iced Irish coffee was so great on a warm day! They also have a little Irish history museum full of facts and artifacts! Cannot recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Julia J.

Yelp
Such a great little coffee shop; especially if you like your coffee strong! We came here a couple of times while were in town and the (what do you call him barista, bartender??) but so nice and friendly. The couple of customers that were there was chatty and friendly too. We really enjoyed sitting in the courtyard each morning.
