"Staccato’s whopping 120 rotating ice cream and sorbet flavors have made it a favorite for families — especially those with particular tastes (read: picky eaters). To go even more decadent, Staccato also serves doughnuts alongside its impressive slate of gelatos and sorbettos, ranging from Girl Scout Thin Mint to prickly pear." - Michelle Lopez, Janey Wong

Google
Went here for the first time with my wife after seeing that it was a food cart that earned a physical space. Was not disappointed. My wife and I loved the gelato. Very filling and very creamy. The folks were very friendly as well. Plenty of seating albeit the store is very spartan otherwise. We will be back!

Google
Good spot for some ice cream on a hot summer’s day. They only have a limited selection of flavors at any given time.

Google
This place was so dirty. The atmosphere was like if you were leaving your apartment dirty, the staff was nice I give them that, however, after we were served, the employee went back to sit down and went straight to her cell phone. The only way I can describe it was like if they were moving out out of the building, I would not recommend this place.

Google
We stumbled on this gem half an hour before close time! Amazing gelato - we got the Thai tea and lemon cream flavors.

Bri Manzanares

Google
The lady was the worst. She was very condescending, sarcastic, and very belittling. She acted like it was a problem that me and my family were even there. She was the most unfriendly and rudest person alive. She acted like she hates her job or people of color. Racism at its finest.!!

Google
Yummy and refreshing gelato!! Every flavor I’ve tried from them have been amazing, no complaints. I come here even in the winter lol

Google
WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE EVEN BETTER GELATO. I ordered a cake with just 48 hours notice, but unfortunately they were closed on the day I wanted to pick up. The owner offered to open up just for me to grab my cake and was extremely accommodating with my forgetfulness in ordering sooner. The cakes are delicious and reasonably priced!

Google
Always wanted to try Affogato and randomly saw their sign. Their prices are very competitive and I love that. I got the sweet cream ice cream with espresso and damn it hit the spot. $5 for one shot and $7 for two is amazing when most places charge a lot more for just coffee. I’ll be back! :)

Yelp
I'll cut to the chase - I'm writing this review because I tried this place three weeks ago and my boyfriend won't shut up about it. He's told me on TWO occasions that he's dreamt of the chocolate gelato. This is coming from a guy who usually sticks to classic ice cream and groaned when I suggested gelato or sorbet instead. There's no other way to describe it, this gelato is STUPID good. I tried the birthday cake flavor and sampled the marionberry. Both were so good that I'm salivating writing this post. I wish I could say I'm exaggerating. The vibe inside is a bit odd, lots of bright colors and a fifty's theme that was a little lost on me. I really enjoyed the collection of board games set out for guests to use, though. They could use some sprucing up, as the furniture wasn't in great shape. Then again, who cares when the gelato is that good? The individual working was quiet but pleasant and she let me try a couple flavors before I committed. Something tells me I'll be spending a decent chunk of my Summer at this little hole-in-the-wall gelato spot, and I'm not mad about it.

Yelp
A quaint spot serving fresh gelatos. We got the largest size with four scoops to share for $6, pretty decent price! Their Orange Creamsicle and Banana gelatos were very delicious. Light but full of authentic flavors, not too sweet as well. Wish they have the pistachio flavor when we're there though. Their Espresso made for a good pairing with the sweet treats.

Tim S.

Yelp
We have visited this place quite often from the time they opened until recently. My daughter's first date with her fiancé was at Staccato. She wanted to have them cater their wedding so she could share their product with everyone they knows (yes they do cater). When I called to inquire, I was told to email with the information to get a quote. 6 weeks later, I have not received a response. I called the store and left a message, with my name and wedding information, two weeks ago but no response have. Tacky business ethics..... The company is so flush with money that they're not interested in getting back to anybody, even with a courtesy call of "cannot accomodate". They've lost all of our family's business from now on. 50 Licks Ice Cream gets to be the treat caterer instead. They seem happy to help.

Tom T.

Yelp
Super cool 50's vibes inside. Many flavours of Gelato , cone or cup. And.....they even have house made donuts. Is there more ?? I didn't stay long I got a pint to go . 8 bucks . Nice place to stop for a last minute treat. bump and run , you know.

Yelp
My recent visit to Staccato Gelato left me thoroughly satisfied. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a fun, charming, cozy atmosphere that immediately set the stage for a delightful experience. Service was attentive and worked efficiently when offering samples to our large group. The selection of flavors was diverse, featuring both classic and inventive flavors. I opted for a scoop of their pistachio gelato, and I was impressed by the intense, natural flavors. The texture was incredibly creamy, and you could tell that they used quality ingredients. What truly sets Staccato Gelato apart is its commitment to using local ingredients whenever possible, which adds a layer of freshness and authenticity to its offerings!

Jane S.

Yelp
Honestly never dealt with such bad customer service and rudeness. One of the female employees was rude on two separate occasions to my friends and I for no reason and then denied serving us when we spoke up about it. I used to come here a lot but definitely won't be coming back after that.

Bri M.

Yelp
This was the worst experience I've ever had. The lady (short with dark hair..very Gothic looking) was very condescending and sarcastic and very belittling. I will never spend my money at this establishment ever again. She either hates her job or people of color. I will definitely spread the word about this shop on every platform I can reach. Racism at its finest!!

Scott L.

Yelp
One of my biggest pet peeves about businesses is when their hours posted on their website are incorrect. After returning two weeks ago from a trip to Europe where I had some great gelato, I was getting the gelato bug again. I looked up this place and saw their hours on their website. Open until 10pm. I drove cross town and arrived at about 9:15pm only to be told that they closed at 9pm. I mentioned that I thought they were open until 10pm, but the worker said "No." I double-checked their website on my phone (I was right) and then suggested to the worker that they update their website, she responded, "Yeah - I get paid minimum wage, so . . . " Two scoops of attitude but no gelato : (

Stacey P.

Yelp
My friends and I came here for a sweet treat and a love of gelato. My one friend once lived nearby and fondly spoke to Staccato so it was a must on our visit. I am glad he knew of it because I am fairly certain I would have walked past it without realizing it was there. It is a nice location but very subtle in the exterior appearance it could be overlooked. Inside was a variety of flavors, plenty of seating, and one helpful employee. As there were only us and it appeared as though the morning had been quiet the atmosphere was very mellow. The gelato slinger allowed us to sample tastings to our hearts content until we settled down on a couple flavors. I opted for the caramel since it is my favorite and I was not disappointed. It was creamy, sweet, goodness! I was super impressed with our stop here!

Jason C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and find it to be pretty solid. I like the broad range of flavors they have from traditional ones like lemon to fun ones like basil. I appreciate that they wash and reuse everything! Sometimes, I find some of their flavors overly sweet, but now I just make sure to try them first to figure out what I'd want. Great for a scoop and a saunter any day of the week to be sure!

Ashleigh E.

Yelp
Yummy sorbet and interesting flavors! Loved the tangerine and blood orange. Better than the standard raspberry.

Alexa M.

Yelp
Nice little gelato spot local to me. I wouldn't say it's the most authentic gelato but it's still pretty good. They have a lot of flavors here but they only allow you to sample two (at least when I went). The staff here is friendly and the location itself is good if you're looking to walk around a neighborhood.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Decidedly average in a very good location. Nothing out of the ordinary (although they were light on flavor choices (Sunday night?). Unlikely I'd seek them out again... kid working the shop closed a full 30 min early? You get the idea

Larry J.

Yelp
Loved everything about it! Enjoyed 2 Gelato Affogato. Handsome employee Shepherd could have sold me sand in the desert. This is the first gelato shop of Portland!

Kevin O.

Yelp
Astrid is amazingly awesome!!! The gelato & sorbet are good too. We tried many flavors and loved them all. Everything here is so tasty and light. We will be back for sure. Thank you for being so nice and helpful Astrid

Alexander L.

Yelp
The chocolate gelato and espresso were very good together. It had a good intense flavor. The red couch and chairs were nice to sit on.

Kelly W.

Yelp
I've been coming here since they opened 20 years ago. The gelato was good but boy was the place really dirty. Floors had lots of black marks and surfaces were really gross. So sad because I want this business to survivor. It appears owner doesn't care about appearance.

Electra L.

Yelp
I ordered a gelato cake. Staccato was very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure I could pick up my cake on time! The cake itself was fun and colorful inside, and very tasty. Not too sweet but still delightful. The only thing a few people said was that the angel food part was a bit rubbery, but once I let my piece thaw properly, it was nice and soft? Would order again......yum yum.

Christine E.

Yelp
It's a cute kind of place, kid friendly, as it has that casual colorful playroom vibe, also more than a bit worn after all these years. The gelato itself is fine overall, and kids will mostly not think the flavors too gourmet. The Thai tea was decent; seemed to be popular as probably a summer only flavor. Luckily they're not using a melon ball scooper like early days anymore, so it's better value. Unfortunately, it does often look like it could be kept cooler to avoid that glassy and gummy effect around the edges in some flavors. They are open when others aren't, and the scent of small doughnuts/holes fills the shop.

Mariko K.

Yelp
Great cake donuts! Tight crumb that wasn't dry, with a pleasant warm spice taste. Perfect size, not too big. A good amount of frosting. I got the maple/chocolate and liked it a lot.

Humam T.

Yelp
I have no reason to give them anything less than five stars. Nothing was off. The place is clean, and there was nothing out of place. They had plenty of comfortable seating. The server was nice and patient with us, and answered our questions with a simple. We never felt rushed by him when a line started building up behind us. Of course Gelato is Vegan, and the two samples that I tried were excellent. I tried the lemon flavor which was very good, but to my surprise, the chocolate flavor was even better. It had not artificial anything. It was nice knowing that what I am eating is not slowly killing me. The prices were reasonable for what you get. This place is on my list to go back to whenever I am craving ice cream.

Alex N.

Yelp
Recommend the adffogato on a warm day as afternoon pick me up. Cozy place could just bring the laptop and work a bit and stay caffeinated

Taylor V.

Yelp
Their flavor selection feels like it was built for me - it speaks straight to my soul. Thank you, Staccato.

Mary B.

Yelp
In the last 3 to 4 years, their hours change or unexpectedly close on weekdays or weeknights and Sundays. I've gone 5 times between 5 to 8pm in the last few years, checked their website and google hours, to find the shop closed, all before Covid issues. This happened in the late winter and early fall. Their price is a little high for serving size. They do have fun flavors with unique ones on the regular not only in rotation.

Tony A.

Yelp
Staccato Gelato does a little something and does it extremely well. They offer over one hundred rotating flavors of gelato and sorbets and happily let you have a taste of this and that, such as Drunk Monkey (banana and caramel), Orange Creamsicle (the name says it all), or Hedgehog (chocolate and coconut). My favorite: pistachio. They also offer donuts and espresso but come here for the gelato. Lots of tasty choices at a reasonable price.

Felicia C.

Yelp
This is a solid gelato place. They have a nice variety of flavors that allows you to choose from fruity to more 'dessert' type flavors i.e. birthday cake or cookies and cream. The gelato quality is great and so is the taste. On top of gelato, this place also makes and sells their own donuts which is pretty cool. Haven't tried them yet but they look pretty tasty. The coolest thing is they offer gelato cakes!!! So like an icecream cake but with gelato??? Mind blown!

Jillian W.

Yelp
Overall, I had an okay experience here. The gelato is actually really good and has some creative flavors. I was tempted to try the donuts but changed my mind when I saw a fly land on the honey crueller I was eyeballing. I prefer a more clean and simple ambience to enjoy my ice cream, but that's probably more related to my personal style. I was also turned off by the fact that they re-use their disposable plastic spoons and gelato cups. I am all for minimizing waste, but I am also a germaphobe. Perhaps metal tasting spoons would be a better solution.

Dana H.

Yelp
You know how you're going out for brunch, and you know you're going to be eating a crazy amount of food and you're a little bit early so you so you say screw it and decide to get get a doughnut to pass the time? Yeah. That was this morning. It was worth it. Stopped in with the hubby and shared a couple doughnuts. Got a French Cruller and a raspberry chocolate at the recommendation of the man behind the counter and bother we're great. They were clearly very fresh and not too sweet. The chocolate was super chocolatey, and and the French cruller was super eggy and custardy, almost like a Dutch baby! Not your typical doughnuts, but that was a-okay with me. He two doughnuts together were $3.75. More than reasonable. We weren't about to get gelato too, but we asked the man for his favorites and he offered us some samples, which was very nice. He told us the shop had been there for 15 years, which is very respectable considering the gelato fad went out about 10 years ago. One note is that it's mid-January and the door was wide open at 8:30 in the morning, so it's pretty chilly in there. Close the door, fools!!!

Nancy S.

Yelp
Delicious! We tried toffee, rose, banana, and peanutbutter fudge. All were yummy. There are good choices for vegans, too. Scoops are small, like they are in Italy. This means you don't have to feel guilty about having more than one scoop. There are many nice restaurants in the area. It appears that people eat dinner, take a walk, stop in for dessert. Good plan!

Bob K.

Yelp
Great little gelato shop in Portland with a cool vibe, open space and a great selection of gelato and some donuts / pastries. Had the marionberry sorbet and chocolate. So yummy. Nice waffle come.

Susan Y.

Yelp
I loooove love love this place! Hundreds of different flavors in gelato and sorbets rotating for every season. Honestly I can't even start a list of my favorites because they are all my favorites. These people are dessert geniuses, serious talk. Ooooh and they have a cute little play area for the kids! Pro tip- if they have your fav flavor, order a pint to go because it will gone in a day

Ronald A.

Yelp
Stopped in Thursday afternoon. I ordered three pints. They were excellent. My wife looked at me and was awed by the fresh flavors; you know that wide-eyed look if pleasure. Strawberry and chocolate was my favorite. Rebecca loved the chocolate. The salted caramel came in a close second. We had been going elsewhere, somewhere closer to the house. I think we will change our pattern. Go in the afternoon to get a pint to take home. The service was just right, friendly and efficient. Everything was clean and masked required. Very glad I went.

Heather E.

Yelp
Really wanted to get some gelato and bring home a special treat for my family. Sent them a message on FB asking for the flavor list so I wouldn't be in the store too long so close to closing, as i would get there about 40 minutes before. No response. Okay, no biggie. When I get there after work, about 610( they close@7) I was greeted with a locked door and open sign. The person working came out and said it was slow so they closed early. They wouldn't reopen, and I was told I should have left work early if I wanted to buy any gelato. After a bit more back and forth and being insulted by the employee about my lack of planning and them 'just trying their best to work here right now' (but I guess not by selling gelato) I went down the road to Fifty Licks instead. They were open and the employee was very friendly too!

Chan C.

Yelp
Okay gelato I've had better and I've had worse. The stand flavor was pomegranate. It was raining and and almost snowing when we went. so only one other person was at a table. I'm sure in the summer this place is hoping.

Richard C.

Yelp
Stopped in with relatives. We were pretty new to the area so I wasn't sure what there was to see or do but each neighborhood has its own flavor so Laurelhurst took its turn. We saw a movie at the Laurelhurst and then on our way back to the car spotted this place. Aside from a certain favoritism for child-world colors and shapes the place is charming. The folks with me opted for delicious if standard flavors but the Goat Cheese with Fig Drizzle flavor caught my eye as it involved four words I love: Goat, Cheese, Fig and Drizzle. Consider my mind blown, Just enough of the tart notes from the Chevre to let you know that this wasn't your mama's gelato and then suddenly in the next lick a burst of fig flavor and the harmony was excellent. It was like a cheese table at a REALLY fancy reception but it was cold and lovely and in a cone. NOW I know what to do and see in PDX, and Staccato is one of those things.

Andrew H.

Yelp
After a really good sandwich, I had to walk it off and somehow ended up eating fresh gelato. My gosh did I find a good place. Gelato that is made in house and the flavors vary all the time. Who makes rhubarb? They do. They had an incredible pistachio, a salted caramel and several other flavors that looked amazing. The sizes are good with only $3.00 for two small scoops or $3.75 for three and a four scoop option, waffle cones or sundaes. They can even do gelato cakes, if you order in advance. I opted for chocolate, pistachio and key lime. The key lime had graham cracker crumbles and just a great lime flavor to it. The chocolate was rich, dark and creamy. The pistachio reminded me of tortoni desserts I used to eat growing up going to the Italian restaurants. Yes, I know tortonis are almond flavor but that is what it brought me back to. It was all delicious and satisfying. I now have yet another place I want to take my kiddo to when she comes for the summer. With a small grouping of good restaurants in the immediate area, this is a great place to end up after a good meal at Tabla, City State or Beaulahland. They also sell a small assortment of cookies, donut holes and some chocolate. Enjoy.

Kausthub P.

Yelp
After craving some gelato, my friends and I made a quick stop to get a scoop. There were plenty of flavors, and I found the hazelnut and salted caramel to be my flavors of choice. A scoop of 2 was a reasonable price, and it was finished in a matter of minutes. Sweet, creamy, and delicious!

Wynnona L.

Yelp
The donuts and gelato here are super rich in flavor; HIGHLY recommend it! They have board games, too, so it's a nice hangout spot. The owner, Steve, is fantastic and totally cares about the customers. Long story short-- it's so good we came back the very next day

Katie S.

Yelp
Gelato, donuts, coffee are all good! Reasonable prices and friendly staff. If you have a sweet tooth, stop by and get one of everything! Ps. Great date night spot

Ainsley F.

Yelp
You had me at brownie raspberry. I like that Staccato Gelato is open late and also within walking distance from my house--score! The staff was friendly, the flavors were delectable and even the music was on point.

Dawn F.

Yelp
Gelato and donuts! Beyond the standard gelato flavors, they have unique and delicious ones like Thai Iced Tea, Root Beer Float and Meyer Lemon. They have donut holes from Monday through Thursday, and full sized cake donuts and crullers Friday through Sunday. The donuts have a lovely crisp crust and covered in delicious frosting/ganache/glaze depending on your preference. For the kids, a lot of the donuts have different sprinkles. I've also ordered donut hole towers ahead of time for my son's birthday celebrations and they always come through with fantastic creations!

Mark B.

Yelp
I really like Gelato, I also like this bright and friendly little shop. Somehow though this has never been a favorite spot for me. The flavors, for my taste, fall a bit short of some of the others. That said, it is good, and has a great location. I most recently came with a friend who's criteria for a good gelato shop is they have lemon. She prefers Sorbeto and they had that, she was happy. Very happy. She had the biggest bowl they have all of lemon.... I had a small bowl half strawberry lemonade and half orange. The orange was the better of the two but both were good. I'm sure I will be back. The location is easy to get to. Maybe I just need to come more to figure out my favorite flavors?

Jamakea T.

Yelp
I've been here many times. I've enjoyed every flavor I've gotten. This is a very kid-friendly spot. This seems to be the only place that has gotten the birthday cake flavor right. My better half loves the dark chocolate.

steph m.

Yelp
After having some super entitled rude service at dinner and a super long line at the neighboring ice cream place, we stumbled upon this gem. The owner waited on us and was down to earth and kind. I got a pint of the fruity POG. My friend got a pint of pistachio. The gelato is amazing! Beyond that, it's just refreshing to have some unpretentious, genuine service. Highly recommend!

Greg J.

Yelp
Been going here for years, Staccato has always been a first choice for gelato in Portland. I really like their fruity and creamy choices. I am a fool for pistachio. with the rotating selections you never know what you'll find available, but there's always something that is sure to please. Their homemade kruellers are also killer!!

Sandra N.

Yelp
Gelato is typically denser than ice cream. Less air and made with more milk rather than cream- I didn't feel this one was dense at all, pretty airy. Flavors weren't anything special. If it's fine I'd give it 5 stars and I always kill my desserts but didn't even finish this one. It's just alright.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Awesome little dessert shop. They have donuts, gelato, and espresso. We got the small (2 scoops and not small at all) and a viet-coffee. The gelato was wonderful and they have about 10 different flavors (they also let you sample). The donut was interesting. Very good texture but I may have whiffed on picking a flavor. The ladies behind the counter were super friendly and this is definitely a very nice place to come for an after dinner treat!

Amanda D.

Yelp
I loved the flavors! Delicious gelato that reminded me of Italy. Highly recommend this gem.

Yaya P.

Yelp
If you know Staccato's gelato, then you know they have this delicious frozen treat dialed in. If you don't know their donuts, then educate yourself this weekend. We're lucky to have donut options in our town, but honestly, no one makes donuts like Staccato! I can't express how delicious these beauties consistently come out. Their seasonal choices are always divine (chai) and their regulars (double chocolate) are a supreme treat.

Gabrielle R.

Yelp
Delicious flavors and nice staff! I must try the donuts next time. I appreciate any shop that will let me bring my dog inside! The Flavors Root Beer, Key Lime Pie and their POG were all OUTSTANDING! I would come again for another taste come rain or snow!
