Stadthaus Burgdorf

They deserve 5 stars. One of the best places we’ve ever stayed! 🙃 Don’t judge too harshly for the lack of air conditioning - in such historic buildings, getting permits is extremely difficult. Everything is arranged to the highest standard, and breakfast is excellent - served in a restaurant that once held a Michelin star. The town itself is charming and full of history. And you’ll be staying just 300 meters from the inner courtyard of Burgdorf Castle, where you can watch the sunset. Highly recommended! P.S. There are so many lovely little touches, like complimentary drinks in the fridge.

We stayed 2 nights at Burgdorf Stadthaus. All the staff was very nice. The furniture throughout the hotel is of great quality. Room is very clean and comfortable. We came with our dog and there were treats as a gift for her. The breakfast is very good (amazing scrambled eggs prepared on demand). The restaurant is very good too. Streets can be a bit noisy, as they are cobbled around the hotel. But definitely worth a stay.

Once the town hall, this small refined hotel on a corner of the cobbled old town of Burgdorf, under the medieval castle, is the perfect base for exploring the Emmental. Rooms have views over the old town and surrounding countryside and Chef Christian Bolliger produces delicious traditional and innovative fare. I love the breakfast buffet and a casual evening meal on the front terrace or in the cosy front bar. Chef Christian's apfelküchli (Swiss apple fritters) are the best I've ever had!

Awesome experience - highly recommended

The hotel has a very peaceful ambience in the heart of the old quartier in Burgdorf. The staff are attentive and friendly. The rooms were well appointed and airy. Loved the bath-tub! We enjoyed a tasty breakfast; it was a little unusual that the hotel was closed from 3pm onwards on the Sunday of the Pfingst weekend. It would have been nice to have had the choice of an evening drink/ meal. That said, we enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated that dogs were made welcome. Burgdorf is a jewel and a stone’s throw from Berne and Fribourg.

Spacious and spotlessly clean room, very polite and competent staff. Excellent restaurant, quiet and private breakfast room with all you need. In the room, box of fine personalized chocolates and fresh fruit, free minibar service included in the room rate. In one word: Terrific !||Massimiliano

We had a beautiful room with a view. The reception were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was perfectly adequate. The room price was appropriate for the quality. Meals in the hotel were of fine quality, but a little limited in the range of options (evening meal) and rather expensive, but the service was very good (but probably generally best to book in advance). The bedroom window was above the main road (but at some distance) . This road seems to particularly loved by owners of loudly tuned motorcycles and cars - which for light sleepers - meant that it was obligatory to sleep with the window shut. However, an effective electric fan was provided which made the closed window acceptable.

The Hotel Stadthaus in Burgdorf is a really great hotel situated in a lovely quiet part of the town. My colleague and I stayed here on a recent work trip and could not recommend the hotel enough.||||All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Very easy to talk to and organised all transport that we needed. The waiting staff were, likewise, very friendly and helpful.||||The hotel rooms are of a really good size. I would recommend getting a room on the second floor or higher and facing to the back of the hotel to provide a great view over the valley. One of the evenings had a storm pass through the town and the ability to watch the storm with the two windows open was a great opportunity.||||The food at breakfast was very hearty and tasty. While not a very big selection, they had a good quantity and varied tastes.||||Overall the Hotel Stadthaus should be your top choice when staying in Burgdorf.
