The Best Dive Bars In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you’re a Green Bay Packers fan living in Los Angeles, you know exactly what Tattle Tale is - and you’re probably there right now. If you’re not a Packers fan, you still need to be drinking there. Open every day at 6am, this iconic Culver City bar has karaoke every night (with wireless mics for added performance value) and snacks that, depending on the mood, are completely free for everyone inside. As an added bonus, they’re right next door to Scarlet Lady Saloon, another excellent Culver dive bar." - Brant Cox

Google
Awesome joint with a great crowd. The drinks are cold and reasonably priced. Dive bar but not too dirty. They let me bring my dog inside so long as he behaves and doesn't shed too much. No attitude from the staff, they seem like great folks.

Google
This is a fun little place to go with friends and have some drinks and unwind... even get a little groove on if you're into singing in front of people.

Carla Saturno

Google
Very nice place. Good drinks and they even have some food. Great parking. Sports on all TVs.

Google
I liked this place. It was very chill and the drinks were good

Google
Really enjoyed this location. This place has a very comfortable atmosphere. The customer service was superb! What really stood out to Me, is the hot wings. Specifically the Lemon pepper wings. For a bar, these are cooked beyond expectations. Crunchy, tender, so hot literally steam poured out from my bite. The wings are great, and I will most certainly be back for more. All in all, this is an establishment worth a visit. I really enjoyed it, and hope You will to.

Google
Perfect place to go have a few drinks with friends and play pool or sing karaoke!

Google
Very nice establishment!! It needs more staff though, the bartender was out numbered he needed a bar back for sodas and juices, water etc.... The bartender did his best to accommodate 100ppl....but still needed servers and help, the nacho fries were good and my friend said the wings were good just need more staff!!

Google
I had fun at this place the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. However the food was just okay

Yelp
If you want a quick strong drink without the attitude , come here . The bar is fully stocked , the bartenders are nice , the ambience is unique . Pool tables for your liking . I always come here after a few drinks and this place never disappoints . Their hours are extreme lol , they are probably open right now . Anyways . Great night . Thanks to the bartender D for putting up with myself and lizzie

Yelp
DIVE BAR ALERT!! This place has been around 4Ever! You can enter in the front, or though the back entrance (like a local) located in the parking lot they share with the small strip center. Went during day time hours and there was a local crowd for "day drinking". The bartender was very friendly and drinks were "on point". The bartender even let me teach her how to prepare a Prairie Fire drink. They have pool tables and adult vending machines in the Ladies' Room. Bonus: When you pay your tab, you get a wooden nickle good for a free drink,

Yelp
Nice Tv's - but not a fan of this place. Expensive drinks at 5pm on a weekday- bartender with attitude & sad sad pours don't mind spending $$ on a decent pour. Super annoying DJ who talks every 30 scs and ruins the music.

Yelp
Meant to post this when I went on Monday, but by the time I left I was pretty tipsy, and I procrastinate LOL. Having gone to the Tattletale for many years and celebrated many a birthday there, I was saddened to hear it was no longer there, but excited to try what replaced it. Very glad I did! The upgrade and remodel look nothing like the days of old. Sleek and modern furniture, Cosmopolitan gray walls, and multiple TVs, make this a very cool neighborhood Sports Bar. They have actually added a kitchen and food, something that was always missing at Tattletale, as much as we loved those peanuts and popcorn hahaha. Standard bar food like wings and fries, but they were well cooked, well seasoned, and hit the spot. Our bartender for the evening was D, and he went above and beyond to extend warm and welcoming customer service. We had great conversation, and he made us three of his specialty drinks, that definitely put us on our, well...you know LOL. Though the website stated happy hour was from 4 to 6, when we arrived we were informed there was no such thing, but he told us he could definitely hook us up with some specials, and he did. We were not disappointed. Gone are the coveted free drink tokens, red leather booths and dirty grunge, but what it's been replaced with, is definitely a good look. Major shout-out and kudos to Marlo and her brother (the new owners) whom I definitely look forward to meeting next time I venture in. Maybe by then, they'll have that happy hour thing worked out, but if not, D will definitely take good care of you!

Yelp
The ambiance was amazing. The bartenders were lovely and they made sure my food was hot when I got there. The garlic chicken wings were really good as well.

Yelp
This is one of the best bar and lounge places that I've been to in quite awhile. D the bar tender is a superstar. DJ Wednesday is the bomb takes you back to the eighties for sure. bar foods are great and reasonably priced. Friendly clientele. My husband and I always have the best time there
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I would say if you look up "dive bar" up in the dictionary, this would be the place they would use as an example. Dark. Moody. Strong drinks. No nonsense bartender. No food for sale but you can bring in outside food. You get a wooden drink chip when you cash out for your next visit. If you are looking to drink...this is a good place.

Yelp
Love this Bar. Been coming here since it was Tattle Tale. "D" is an amazing bartender. My advice get the Golden Girl

Jen D.

Yelp
Meant to leave this review before it closed. D is an amazing bartender. Always friendly and made the best drinks. The inside was a little dark, but I came mostly to watch football so it wasn't too much of a problem.

Yelp
Shhh....don't tattle tale but I have a secret ;). I secretly love karaoke! Super shy me loves going up on stage and belting out a song though I'll have to admit sometimes my shyness gets the most of me just like the night I went to Tattle Tale Room. I must've passed by Tattle Tale Room a thousand times not knowing this was a happening karaoke spot until recently when I came with a friend. It was Friday night and the place was packed. Karaoke takes place off to the side of the bar and near the pool tables towards the front. It's a total dive bar, a little dark and no stage but karaoke go-ers have the microphone, a strong sound system and a large screen. You go up front and list your name. When it's your turn, you're off to go belt out your tune in front of the large crowd. Since it was Friday night, there was quite a long list of eager rockstars. It was definitely the good, the bad and the ugly haha that night. A lot of drunk singers but some good ones too. Interesting, entertaining and fun for sure. It was rather late in the evening and would have taken awhile for us to get up there and so I didn't get to sing but I'll admit I was a little nervous after hearing some of the good singers (between you and me however it would not have mattered if you were good or not on stage- the crowd is friendly and many drunk so they wouldn't care haha). Who knew such happening karaoke spot could be found here? Hmm I haven't been tattle taled about this place but I am tattle taling to let you know about this spot for the rockstars ;).

Yelp
Stage 21 is a nice place to get away from life's circumstances. The bartenders give you a sense of the tv show, "Cheers," because if you frequent the place, they will know your name and treat you like family. Personally, I go for the karaoke. Steven O is really good at the musical part of keeping the crowd going. He can sing and entertain as well, which is great! I'm dying to meet the owner. We have a mutual friend in common. I work locally and this has become my favorite place to hang Jen I want traffic to die down. I'm there every Friday and some Saturdays unless something real important happens; I don't miss. There are other karaoke options, but you'd be waiting forever to sing one song. The chicken wings hit every time. Not a drinker, but I've heard that the drinks are affordable and taste great from others I've invited. Most of my friends are not on the Westside of town, so the folks there have become my friends.
google avatar

Yelp
I always pictured the Tattle Tale Room as a dingy dive bar, so I never really went despite living close by. I have probably passed by a million times and finally went in a few weeks ago to meet up with friends. The bar itself is pretty tiny. There is karaoke (yay!) and pool tables. The drinks are cheap and the bartenders are awesome! My friend is a regular there so we got star treatment, which was great. There are a lot of regular there, which shows me that it's a good little bar. I look forward to going back soon!

Yelp
I had such a ball here tonight. They have karaoke every night here. I played a few games of pool, had a few drinks and sang a few songs. The KJ is a great singer and I like that you can see the rotation list. I sang four songs. I also played the pinball machine for a while - so fun it took me back to high school. It was $.50 play and something fun to do while I waited for my turn to sing. There was some really nice people at this place - a real cool vibe. I would come again.

Paulie W.

Yelp
Man, what a mistake. TTR had a very loyal clientele. I've been going to tattletale for 6 years, sometimes a year between visits. Despite this, staff and regulars would always recognize me. We all loved the dingy atmosphere and warm feel, there was a real sense of community. Even though I went to TTR for a dive bar experience, I also went to more west side bars for a more upscale experience. TTR was great for what it was, and it didn't pretend to be something it wasn't. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Sanitary? Sterile and cold. Who puts cool, fluorescent lighting in a bar?! Recommend Mom's, Cozy Inn, or Backstage instead.

Yelp
Newly renovated spot along with new management in Culver City. Came here with the intentions of liking and supporting the spot . Nice big TVs on the wall and pool table in the back. Music was at a decent level , very accommodating to the crowd to still carry on a conversation without yelling . Cocktail menu doesn't have very well crafted drinks, nothing fresh . Syrupy with spirit combinations that just don't go. Be aware of the blonde bartender (STEPHANIE) She makes very stupid mistakes on drinks , and has a very nasty attitude with customers to make it right and treats the other staff behind the bar very nasty. Saw her take multiple shots. She had to be drunk or high and unable to count change properly. She chooses who she wants to serve and serves whatever she feels like serving you. AVOID HER ALL TOGETHER .

Bobby V.

Yelp
Oh no.... The Tattle Tale Room was one of my favorite dive bars in the area, but looks like the management changed and now is Stage 21. They remodeled inside and it looks gray and non-descript. No character at all anymore. The worst part was the drinks. The bartender helping us really didn't know what he was doing. I asked for a less sweet margarita and he said he had no idea how to make it so I had to explain. Even then, it was still sweet so they had to fix it. We also ordered a paloma that took like 15 mins after waving down a different bartender and was almost all unsweetened grapefruit juice so was undrinkable. We just paid and left our drinks. Damn pandemic took away a great bar. At least the people singing karaoke are just as good as before.

Yelp
Went last Wednesday for my friend's birthday celebration and was pleasantly surprised. Great music, it was DJ night, my Cadillac Margarita was delightful, crowd enjoyable. A good vibe all the way around. Didn't taste the food though, nextime!

Andy S.

Yelp
Just found out that a photo of mine was tied to this bar which put this Yelp page on my radar - it was from when it was Tattle Tale rather than Stage 21. If anyone is expecting Tattle Tale Room on the inside, it's totally different now. I'd give it 1 star for not being Tattle Tale any longer, but giving it 3 stars to see what it will evolve to be and best of luck to the new ownership. Also, saw a post here about racist TTR clientele that doesn't fit the reality - it was always a diverse bar with both diverse clientele and staff, part of what made it great. Will miss the old dive that was the Tattle Tale Room. And again, best of luck to Stage 21. -Roger's Exciting Tattle Tale Room patron since 2000

Yelp
This is one of the last of a dying breed of great bars. As one by one they give way to sleek, inhuman, uncomfortable reclaimed wood, clones featuring 2000 beers on tap served in 1500 different kinds of goblets..... a little piece of us dies in side. For those of us fortunate enough to know what a human bar can offer society we celebrate places the Tattle Tale with honor and reverence. The TT gives me EXACTLY what I want in a watering hole. Friendly bartender, free salty snacks & cheap drinks from 6am to 2am... this is as good as it gets in Los Angeles.

Rhonda V.

Yelp
They're a rip off! Drinks are in the tiniest glass, filled with ice, no liquor & charges you a arm & a leg for it, never again I'll go there! I'm sad I had to give them one star, I would prefer no stars!
google avatar

Taylor J.

Yelp
Local Culver city realness! I am one of those kids who grew up in the area and ALWAYS saw tattle tale room and the Scarlet lady saloon (located next door) and never went inside until a few years ago. I really love the Tattle tale room. The crowd is always super diverse and the patrons there are mega friendly. I've never had any trouble there. Karaoke is always a fun time and the bartenders have been there for years. Drinks are cheapish (8 bucks for a cocktail), and there is ample parking in the lot (although don't drink and drive kids)

Craig F.

Yelp
Last night we stopped in at Stage 21 to see what the new local bar was like. Gotta say... we like it! The owner, a delightful woman named Marlo, was behind the bar and greeted us with a warm smile and a, "Welcome to Stage 21". She has transformed the old Tattletale bar into a nice clean environment with 8 large TVs playing a variety of sports. And they serve food! We only stopped in for a quick beer but we will definitely go back and work our way through the menu.
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Great place to just have a good drink, good atmosphere and sing karaoke. I do wish there were better food selections. Great food makes everything better. Overall, good friendly service and I will return soon.
google avatar

Rosita T.

Yelp
We went for karaoke tonight and had a good time. Giving three stars because the karaoke DJ didn't make a very friendly impression. It was as if he wasn't having any fun. While singing you could not hear yourself singing as the volume of the microphones was way too low. What a pity! He could have contributed to a much better atmosphere.
google avatar

Lucia C.

Yelp
The Tattle Tale is a neighborhood dive bar with excellent service and strong drinks. It's popular with the locals because it's been around for the longest time, it opens at 6am and they have karaoke every night. But beware because, in my experience, the people who sing karaoke there are good! So bring your singing chops or, if you're like me and don't have any, feel free to cheer those who do. You must try Melissa's delicious "Mexican Lollipop". It's her signature drink and tastes just like a Mexican Lollipop, but with a kick! Plus, she is super friendly and a talented bartender. The Tattle Tale is so legit that they even have free lunch on Fridays. At "noonish", is what the sign says!.
google avatar

Marge A.

Yelp
Ughhhhhhhh miss this bar so so much. If there is a crowd funded page for y'all please let your yelp friend's know. I NEED to make sure you guys are open after the pandemic. Every bartender in here is a legend. Every karaoke DJ, every regular barfly, every person in here (except on my birthday a few years ago a woman called me a prostitute but Tyler the bouncer kicked her out immediately) is the nicest, most interesting, wackiest person I've ever met and I miss every last one of you. PLEASE HANG IN THERE. Your neighborhood misses you. xoxo
google avatar

Cameron X.

Yelp
I always enjoy myself here for some reason. I usually run into an interesting character to chew the fat with, shoot the breeze with or talk the talk with. It's nothing fancy. Just an old fashioned neighborhood bar. Good Times, Cameron
google avatar

Sher V.

Yelp
Went here for a first date. Let's just say it was very memorable! We both got hit on by one of the regulars, I would have to guess. She first hit on my date, then came in and hit on me. The bartender was really nice and it seemed like a cool spot, until the drunk man sitting next to us tried to pick a fight with my date. We only lasted about 15 minutes here, we just wanted to get to know each other without the guy next to us trying to out talk us. Definitely a place to go to if you like a little fun and a good story. May have been cool if we actually got to stay longer and try out the karaoke. Best thing to come out of this place was my date and a good story.

Kelly W.

Yelp
The food definitely needs work the tacos were dry and fries were horrible. Drinks are ok they need some work bar food should be good drinks could be stronger.
google avatar

Jasmine Y.

Yelp
Came here recently to watch a Packers game and can I just say, what a magical experience. Even if you aren't a Packers fan, you must come at least once to understand the vibe of the place. It is simply electric on a game night - with passionate and die hard fans, regulars that are so welcoming and a raffle for fun Packers paraphernalia. Will definitely be coming by more often. Go Pack Go!

Yelp
Back in the day , Had a great time with Bill Warren ( Hughes , El Segundo ) He Was HVAC , I was maint. mech.

Yelp
Before I did a 5k in 2013 in this area I asked a friend who grew up in Culver City in the 50's-70's to give me the name of the best dive bar. Right away he said Tattle Tale and he did not disappoint. Beyond the grunge this is a Beautiful Living place with great bartenders and patrons. I've mainly been here for the six AM opening time but after all I've seen on social media I wish I could drop by more often!

Gina C.

Yelp
Wednesday nights are EPIC! I frequent the lounge on Wednesday but I have to say this Wednesday night Dee handled the bar in SUPREME fashion.. it was a heavy crowd and it was just him working the bar and he handles it with such professionalism! With the patrons coming at him for every direction asking for a drink, he did not miss a beat and handles each order as efficient as possible! I applaud him! Stage 21 is blessed to have him! Job well done with a large crowd!!
google avatar

Love C.

Yelp
Came here for Day 3 of Amy's birthday celebration on Saturday, after passing it for the 8 years I've lived in LA! And whaddya know... it was karaoke night! And 2 words even made it better... Cordless mic! I sang right from my seat at the bar... of course with the strong-ass drinks, I wasn't sitting for very long! Anyway, the mic may have been the best I've ever sang from... made me sound half decent... either that or I was just really drunk... Speaking of drinks... you can't really beat $6.50 for an Absolut / Redbull... which was mostly Absolut. 3 cocktails had me bouncing all over the bar! The bartender was really great and between the 5 of us there, remembered everything we ordered and made sure we had a cocktail in our hand at all times! Now that's what I call a bartender! Not to mention, she gave us each a free drink token to make sure we all come back again! The crowd was a mixture of the totally ghetto kind, to the preppy kind, to the wonderful Asian kind... ehem... me! : ) Everyone was really nice and you can tell this place has a ton of regulars. Oh and there's the funniest sign on top of the bar that says, "If you're smoking in here, you better be on fire!" I'm easily amused and it had me entertained for about 5 minutes. And if you're planning on getting lucky, rest assured, there's a condom machine in the lady's restroom packed with Climax Control, Erection King and Glow in the Dark condoms for your pleasure and protection. I'll definitely be coming back again! ... For the drinks and karaoke... not the condoms.

Yelp
The Tattle Tale Room is a perhaps the dive-y-est bar out there. It is not pretty. Very rough, small, grimy and ugly. Yes, very ugly. But all this doesn't matter with the Packers are on! Go back go! Good, cheap drinks and free food! Yes, FREE food! The food range from Wisconsin cheese and crackers, to KFC chicken to Jack in the Box' tacos. Very random but I love it! They also pass out free shots during half time! I will definitely revisit during the next game. The fans here are awesome! Be forewarned, don't come here with Bear's gear!
google avatar

Mandi T.

Yelp
Boooooooy, is this place NOISY!!! wait a sec, it's supposed to be? LOL. It's a bar, karaoke place, pool, etc. AND it's ridiculously busy which equals awesomeballs. I got invited by my friend Missy for her 21st birthday and woohoo! I'm a fan now. There's a full bar, a gang load of beer, what more shall we ask for? Come early, stay for the pool, karaoke, cool people, and $5.50 beer. :D Good times! Happy birthday to the bestest singer, Missy *hearts*

Yelp
"Now John at the bar is a friend of mine He gets me my drinks for free And hes quick with a joke or to light up your smoke But theres someplace that he'd rather be He says, Bill, I believe this is killing me. As the smile ran away from his face Well Im sure that I could be a rock star If I could get out of this place" If you're afraid of the elderly don't venture in. Wow this really is a dive bar. I came here for karoake for a friend who was celebrating a new job. Misery drips from a hole in the drop ceiling and dreams come here to die only to reignite on karoake night like a phoenix rising from the fire closer to a flaming pigeon shot from a slingshot but you get the point. You can get a quart of Coors. I asked for a 40 but they don't serve them. Guess you gotta draw a line in the sand somewhere. The men's room has one those machines where you can get a "Shocking Erotic" photocard which turned out to be neither or something called "The Tickler" that will make her scream and moan(their words not mine.) I half expected a little knife to pop outta that one. Someone mentioned this place turns hipster at night. Not on the Friday I was there. I don't think there are hipsters in Culver City. Not of the caliber of Echo Park anyways.
google avatar

David J M.

Yelp
This is a great little spot as a dive by super cheap drinks super nice people great place to watch the sports when I'm in the area,
google avatar

Gosia A.

Yelp
Loved it there last night. We had a blast singing and hanging out with friends. Very nice low-key place, loved it. Drinks are good and affordable, nice staff. Overall, I recommend it.
google avatar

Lori K.

Yelp
Ended up here on a random Saturday night with two friends after a quiet early birthday dinner. It's a rare find in the LA area. The bartenders were friendly as were all the patrons. Somehow the entire bar learned it was my birthday and the drinks started rolling and the karoke guy made an announcement. They have a couple pool tables, a jukebox, an electronic dart board and tv's....Great people, great drinks...I highly recommend paying an extra 25 cents when you order a drink and telling the bartender you want to try your luck at rolling the dice!
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
If I lived in Culver City this would be my karaoke spot. My good friend, Suzy C, and her honey took me here when I was visiting last Saturday night. We sang. We danced. We had a fabulously fun time. Everyone was super nice - from the bartender with the amazing voice, to the KJ, to the guy celebrating his 27th birthday, to the people who were obviously regulars. It is a good thing that I live 6 hours away, otherwise I would want to be singing there every night.
google avatar

Tessa M.

Yelp
if you love dive bars as much as i do, you're gonna love this place. kind of a random location but on the plus side: parking! the place is relatively small but big enough for a couple pool tables. drinks are relatively cheap and the bartender's cool. crowd is a mixed bag, as you'd get with any dive in LA.

Ryan G.

Yelp
So I am happy this place is open and has cleaned up / upgraded a bit from the old Tattletale Room. It's also great that they took over King Kabob's kitchen to be able to offer food. However the food options are limited and way overpriced for what you get. Ordered the wings and got 6 small wings for $14 - definitely NOT worth it. So if you want a drink it's fine, but if you are looking for a bar food too, I would look elsewhere until they improve the setup and prices.
google avatar

Alonso E.

Yelp
Want to enjoy a beverage comfortably and enjoy some time with friends. This is the place to go. Awesome watching Sunday FOOTBALL with some of my Packers family. Come by and check it out.

Karl H.

Yelp
This is a true local bar for Culver City regulars. When I arrived on an early Saturday afternoon, half the bar was wearing Tattle Tale shirts, flipping wooden coins on the counter for discounted drinks. No taps, no fancy mixed drinks, pool table on the back. As real as it gets. As a newcomer, it can feel intimidating at first. It's a diverse crowd ranging from 25-75, dropping in for a tall boy of Coors or a whisky soda. Everyone was open and friendly, however, and I quickly found myself listening to probing stories from my neighbors. They saw the pain in my eyes, and it feels like we connected. The Tattle Tale is cheap, but I wouldn't call it a dive. Most "dive bars" in West LA were colonized by hipsters years ago, attracting distracted millennials with pinball and Belgian ales. Sure, they have karaoke here every night, but this is a bar for real people who seek a sense of solace and community. I'm not sure when I'll be back...it's a lot to take in. But there is no establishment more deserving of five stars, embodying its very purpose as a tavern and public house.

Saucy B.

Yelp
The service in which my boyfriend received lastnight was TERRIBLE!!! Burnt chili undercooked fries/wings and to top it off the bartender decided to put her own ingredients inside of the drink I ordered...Wanted to enjoy a nice night with some karaoke and drinks instead we left a table of dissappointment!!
google avatar

Abbi F.

Yelp
OK, this is definitely my favorite neighborhood bar. It's definitely a home-y feeling, with the bartender greeting you with a smile, having remembered my face from the last time I was there (??maybe a year ago??). You're sure to find an extremely rare mix of people for the LA area. Did I mention the bartender was amazing. Super-sweet, super-attentive...AND she sings too! Yes, that's right, she can make your drink whilst simultaneously crooning to any number of karaoke songs!!! Definitely ask for her specialty - the grape otter pop!

Yelp
Ever since I can remember, I passed this place on the way to Toys R Us (TRU) and wondered what was inside. The outside has not changed a stitch since I was 4 or 5, my earliest recollections of going to TRU. That all changed Wednesday night. I thought I was done for the evening having already gone to Q's earlier. But no, one food cart later, and I was back in the city and heading for another bar. I always thought it looked really sleazy from the outside but inside...it's still kind of sleazy but it's just a fun karaoke bar. My friend went ahead and sang a David Bowie song and danced around with others in the bar while another friend, of course, filmed it. Highlight: one of the bartenders, an older gentleman, danced by spinning like a ballerina. Worth it? check Want to go back? check Want to see a guy spin like a prima donna? checkity check yeah yeah.

Yelp
The Greatest Packer Bar in the world! These people really know how to take the snooty and stuffy out of a bar, so you can just chill and relax over a beverage of your choice at 1/2 the cost of places where the crowds are. Sure the Tattle Tale Room is perhaps dive bar. It is not pretty. a bit rough, small, grimy and dare say ugly? However, Every Sunday, I make my trek over here to watch my team play. Here are my reasons why I always return and why I go even if there wasn't a game going. 1) Friendly staff and patrons... sure it may look scary, but once you are in, you are greeted with a smile and a handshake. 2) Bring your own food. But at halftime during a game, you get free pizza. (really? yes!) 3) Parking can be tight, but you can find spaces behind, across the street and all over 4) I'm gluten intolerant, and when I asked for gluten-free beer, they said yes! Awesome! A place that serves gluten free beer so i don't feel left out. 5) And free Karaoke mid week!
