We were grateful to find this space for a casino style birthday party to celebrate my parent’s 60th. Booking was a breeze and communication with Lauriane was great. She sent me a contract, I read, signed and mailed with my deposit check.
Day of the event, we spoke on the phone several times before and she checked on us during setup and the party. Again, great communication! She even was kind enough to let us pay extra to come earlier (last minute). We needed that extra setup time so we were very grateful. The party was fabulous, everyone had a great time and the room was perfect for it.
Now after the event (during clean up) things became a problem… first, I want to clarify that I printed the contract out that I had signed and brought it with me. I read over every detail multiple times to make sure we followed EVERY rule. As we were cleaning up, it seemed we did nothing right. We stacked the tables and chairs back on the racks and in the corner we found them, but the chairs were put on the rack backwards, so we fixed that. No problem. Then we were asked how many trash bags we used (we brought our own trash bags). When the guys picked the cooler up, it had leaked on the floor. Lauriane was very upset that we didn’t use a tarp to which she told me was specifically in the contract. I checked over the contract I signed and it was not stated on there. Perhaps I booked so far ahead, I didn’t have an updated version? If it had been on there, I would have made sure I had a tarp under the coolers. I cleaned up the spill while Lauriane helped and was clearly annoyed with me. Then she was checking other areas of the room while we were cleaning up our party. She came over to me and said “what happened to my floors?! I’m going to need you to come see this.” We went over to the area she found and the floors in that spot were badly dented/knicked. I apologized and told her I had no idea what happened and I didn’t think anyone had been over there. I asked our casino company if they knew what happened and they didn’t either. So she called the owner and he showed up. I understand that you are running a business and I’m sure they have had some bad customers before. But I was stunned by how I was treated. He said “what happened to my floors?! This was not here this morning. Don’t make me check my tape to see what happened. I will if I have to.” How unprofessional! Towards the end, they both became more relaxed and much nicer. They had my number and I gave them the number of the casino company so they could contact us after they checked their video footage. We are not the type of people who would do anything like that and not take care of it. On our way home from the party that night, Lauriane called and said that she was so sorry. They checked the video footage and the floor damage was not from us. I appreciated that phone call…And that is why I gave 3 stars.
